chapter 3
inside Castle's Hampton house: bedroom
Laying on the floor, Castle scrubs his hand over his face, then squints opening one eye, then the other. He looks up to see Gina, standing staring him from the doorway.
"Don't you ever knock anymore?" was the first words out of his mouth.
"I heard the crash. I had to check it out. I thought…oh," With the her expression that she was giving him back, he thought something was really wrong.
He starts to stand then realizes that he has no clothes on. He grabs for the sheet, sliding it down off the bed.
"Do you mind, I…" Beckett he thinks. "We.."
"Not at all, enjoying yourself, I know I did." she smirks. "It's not like, I haven't see it before." She adds to the comments, as she takes a few more steps forward, towards him. "It's not something that you forget. Especially... "
"Gina," he responds in a stern yelling tone, "Go. Now." he points at the door behind her.
"I just wanted to let you know that I'm going shopping."
"Like that's something new," he said more to himself then to her. "Well, have fun." a pause, "Wait, in the middle of the night?" he questions.
"It's morning, the sun's been up for sometime." she shoots him another smile.
"What? I..." Castle blinks looking around, how long was out? he wondered.
"I would invite you," she sweeps her eyes back over his body. With a grunting push he was able to get to his feet. He wraps himself tighter in the sheets.
"But you look like you are satisfying a need,"
"Gina." he shouts, glances away.
"Good for you, I just wish,"
"Get out!" Anger written all over his face. He wanted to kill her now.
"Anyway, you need to be…." a pause, she moves her eyes down, "Doing other things right now. Not..."
"Don't remind me." He snorts and rolls his eyes not facing her. "I get the picture." he tucks the sheet to form a knot around his waist.
"I want to see something written when I get back." she turns on her feet, facing the doorway to the hall. "or….." she says over her shoulder.
"Or what," he responds, what is she going to do to me?
don't push her, she can do a lot. his mind reminds him about what happened last time.
"You don't want to know what I will do…" she turns back around to face him, one last time before she leaves. "You're not the only one that has money on the line." she puts her finger up to poke him. "Now get to work!" she pokes her finger into him. He cringes, ow.
"What no whip," he didn't mean to say that it just popped out, being around Beckett to long. his mind said,
"Don't put the idea in my head, cause I...might just have use one."
Castle swallows, but then he heard the door slam. That was a close one. Now behave and get something done today.
Sitting on the bed, he sighs, "so all of this was just a dream? There was no Beckett. It was all in my thoughts, why is she doing this to me?" He rubs his eyes, "Why Beckett, why?"
She's always on your mind, because you love her. Can't you see that...
"I...look I'm talking to myself. Coffee that's what I need."
He winces in pain when he tries to walk down the stairs. "Well than love hurts." he mumbles as he rubs his knee.
Castle's Hampton's house: back yard
Castle steps out of his back door, a few minutes later dressed only in a white towel wrapped around his hips. "Some fresh air and a cup of coffee would do me some good." He leans against the railing of his porch and stares into his yard. The pool sparkling in the background. "And maybe a swim later." You're suppose to be working on your book Gina's voice runs through his mind reminding him, not to get to carried off. I was out here to relax and all I get is grief...ah...Frustrated, he starts to slam down his coffee cup then pulls back just in time. I guess, I got time for a swim later, but right now I..." he almost spit out his coffee that he was drinking when he sees a woman, dressed in a soft flowing summer dress and sandals, walking up near his pool area. He places the cup down on the ledge and takes a step forward.
Squinting against the morning sunlight he sees her. Another glimpse of the woman that he was really falling in love with. Beckett? he thinks, then remembers what happened to him earlier. There's no way, it's just my imagination, He repeats in his mind. But the woman was still coming closer to him. I'm not falling for that again. It's just the sunshine in my eyes, he tries to convince himself. He turns and grabs some shades that were by the door. He places them over his eyes and steps farther out onto the lawn, blinking a few times. The woman he sees is still there, still in her summer dress and sandals, so he waves.
"I'm going to feel like a fool if she doesn't wave back." but to his surprise, the woman does wave back at him.
The pleasure in her eyes was unmistakable, her smile was genuine with a hint of sensual delight. He smiles back. Is this real? It seems so real? but I have to make sure that this is not just in my head.
Then go touch her.
He slowly slid forward, caught her around the waist bringing her flush against his chest stealing her breath. She could barely hold on to her train of thought as she realized how constant his desire for her seemed to be. She'd never had a man, even during the lusty first dates, want her so thoroughly. Could it last? Did she even care? Her body relaxed against his, and her throat, laughter escaped on a rush of exhaled air.
"Has anyone ever told you that you're..." before she could finish her sentence, he pulls her closer to him, holding her tighter, not wanting to let her go. Than as if his hand had a mind of its own, his palm strokes down her spine and over her bottom in an intimate caress and she arches closer.
Much easily his own body pulses with instantaneous awareness and a deeper hunger stirred in his soul. Having her really in his arms, having her this close to him with no one to distract him was like a dream come true. His dream, his fantasy one that he envisioned so many times before.
He liked the helplessly arousing sounds escaping her throat, the way she'd plastered her delectable body to his. He liked...everything about her, she molded to him seamlessly. He was losing himself in her, unable to remember why this shouldn't happen at all.
The woman he held in his arms was exactly the kind of woman he'd told his mother he wanted to meet, one that he could open up to and trust. One that would open up to him and Beckett did, even though he had to chisel his way into her life. Which he was glad he did, he got to know her. And now being with her here made his life more complete.
"Irresistible," he supplied to answer her, his voice low and deep.
No, she shook her head, This so wrong, I need... she tries to take in a deep breath but the air wouldn't go into her lungs with him holding her this tight. She pushes him back, "Castle I told you." She steps back and she props her hands on her hips narrowing her gaze at him, "Beckett..." he swallows watching her face, "it was..." he clears his throat, "it was just a hug." he swallows again. "It didn't..." she turns her face from him.
an intimate hug at that, she thought and you're ...almost naked her mind responds to her thought. Her eyes wanted her to turn around and look at him again but she just shook her head.
"You call that a hug," she shouts at him as she starts to walk away.
"Beckett, Kate...wait...I um..." he races in front of her, making her stop. He wanted to tell her that he could control himself, but then he would be lying to himself. He wanted to tell her all about his dream of her as well but that too wouldn't be right. He literally bit his tongue trying not to tell her everything that he was thinking.
He needed something to distract him from what he was feeling. He had to think of a way to keep her here. She tries to step away from him. He let her, than calls out to her.
"Beckett, please wait...don't go...It didn't...I didn't...I'm sorry...I just..." she turns to look at him. Offer her a drink...his mind yells. "Drink?" he held up the one he had been drinking.
"Castle!" she drags out his name. once again giving him her death glare.
"What?" he smiles. "I thought..." he sighs softly, this wasn't going like he planned. "I thought I offer you one." He points back to the house. "It's only Coffee." He takes a sip. "Nothing more." I wish it was...
"Oh," she rolls her eyes.
"Look I told you nothing funny, just two friends enjoying each others company." With seeing her face turn a little softer, now's my chance, "I'll be right back." She watches as he leaves her standing there in his yard.
And although his most vulnerable parts were covered by the towel that he was wearing, there was a lot of man showing there. The towel split apart revealing his long, sculpted muscular thighs as he walks up the porch's steps. Beckett swallows hard, feeling light-headed from a rush of heat. wow, she sighs, she felt her heart clutch. She made her way to one of the white lawn chairs and plops down. Shutting her eyes she sighs, maybe this was a mistake coming out here. I mean after seeing.. how am I?
She leaned back in his white wooden lawn chairs and glances towards the pool. Her imagination was racing, picturing their two necked bodies meeting under the crystal clear water of his pool. The heated wetness of his body rubbing against hers. His tongue touching, wrapping its self around hers.
"Thinking of us swimming necked in that pool?" The question yanked her from her fantasy.
"What?" she glances up to see him standing there. Holding out a cup towards her.
"It's..." she starts to get up.
"Amazing right?" Castle comments, not let Beckett finish, which he did all the time. She gets so irritated on a regular basis, with this. He hands her a cup before taking the other chair.
"I just never." Beckett continues her thought.
"Imagine it to be like this," he adds with a smiling grin, he didn't let her finish this time either.
"Castle," she shouts facing him. He knew that every time she dragged out his name like that she was upset with him.
"Sorry I was so used to the back and forth wording that we...I ..." He puts his cup to his mouth and takes a sip, letting the liquid sooth his tongue. He had replaced his coffee with some liquor when he got hers.
"No, not about that." He gave her a look of confusion.
"Huh?, wha...I ?" He had no clue about what she was talking about.
"It's..." she swallows. There was silence. They just glance into each others eyes. He opens his mouth to make another comment but then shuts it when his mind told him to just her finish. I will have to work on that. He takes a deep breath trying to give her more time to respond but the silence between them was too much for him.
"Look if it's too much," he didn't think, he just stood up, plucks her cup from her fingers and put it next to his on the table.
Beckett glances up her eyes sparkling, "If you want me to drive you back home or call my car service to come get you." he held out his hand to help her out of the chair.
"No I'm..." her voice was soft, filled with emotions that she didn't want to conceal. "I just..."
"Let's go then..." he grins. He was going to show her a good time one way or another.
"Go where?" she questions.
"For a swim...where else?"
"What?" she laughs that beautiful laugh he loved hearing so much.
"I don't..." he grabs her arm. "Seriously, Castle I... "
"Let's take a swim." his voice fills with excitement. "It will be fun, you'll see."
"I don't have...I didn't bring a suit with me," she protested and she surely wasn't going skinny dipping with him. She struggles as he pulls her up out of the chair and onto her feet.
"I knew that you'd say that," he chuckles, "That's why I ran out earlier and bought you one to keep just for here." He now holds out a box towards her.
"Castle, Rick...I..." staring at the box, he places in her hands.
"Here, put this on and join me." he lefts the lid off and she could see red material poking through the tissue paper.
"But Castle I..." she glances up at him.
"It's just a swimsuit, Kate. Don't look so surprised."
"How do you know you got the right size?" she demands as she lefts the tissue paper, feeling the silky material slides through her fingers.
"I don't think I was for wrong with the size." his voice was a little hoarse as if he was speaking past the same sudden lump that she felt in her own throat. He swallows, "All I had to do was remember how you felt in my arms," he comments as a grin creeps across his face at the memory.
"What?" Kate tries to think back when that would have been. other than today...I.... "And when was that?" she questions before she knew it.
"One day I'll never forget, it was the day I tackled you down and we..." a pause, "I shot the man with Champagne, well okay the cork of the Champagne bottle." he lefts his cup. "My first gun battle." He pushes his cup forward some, taping an imaginary glass. "Cheers to that day and all the other ones." He chuckles, than takes a sip. He downs the rest of the liquid in his cup, then place it down on the table. He moves over a little ways from his chair and unwraps the towel from his waist letting it fall to the grass right next to his chair. "Come, on join me." he winks at her.
to be continue...
