It'd had been two days.
Two days since Ozpin announced us as an official team.
Two days since our first battle.
Two days since I became an official student at Beacon.
And I couldn't have been happier! I loved life at the Academy! It was everything I hoped for and more. And then, it was time for my first one on one practice fight with another student. Her name was Ruby Rose, and she was younger than me, had less experience than me, and was not as well trained. Yet at the beginning of the fight, she was destroying me. I had underestimated her severely, and I paid for it. However, as the second half of the fight started, I was ready. She hit the trigger on her scythe, launched forward at me...But I was ready this time. I grappled her leg with Quicksilver, dragging her down. She stumbled and missed her attack. I took this as my chance and flipped over her. She attempted to catch me with her scythe but failed. I spun Quicksilver towards her to strike a blow on her head, which she caught with the tip of her scythe. I heard a gunshot as she propelled herself to her feet, then again as she struck my jaw with an upwards attack. I was sent up in the air, dizzy, tasting blood. I landed on my back, and heard a sickening snap, feeling sheer agony as I did so. My aura compensated immediately, and I shot to my feet, coughing blood. I knew the instructor was about to call it a match, but I wasn't ready for her to. I shot 3 spikes, all aimed at Ruby's chest, while lunging for her. She dodged the spike but not my staff, as one of the blades ripped open her combat skirt and sent her scythe flying out of her hands. I struck her thrice more, hearing bones snap and cries of pain. I delivered a final jump-kick to her jaw, as the instructor labeled the fight as a draw. I immediately sheathed Quicksilver and helped her up. I would've normally felt bad, but honestly if it weren't for the enchanted training area enhancing our auras so we wouldn't die... I would have. We shook hands and I complimented her fighting.
"Thank you Sterling, you were great too! That last kick was a good one, I'm still feeling it" she replied with a chuckle
"Well, my spine splitting in half was pretty unpleasant too" I joked. "Say, up for hanging out later?"
"Sure!" she exclaimed
"Awesome! How does lunch sound? There's this really awesome restaurant not far from here"
"Sounds great, but first I'll have to stitch this up" she replied, gesturing to the tear on the upper part of her skirt"
"Oh...yeah, sorry about that" I chuckled, blushing.
"Hey, no biggie! It is for fighting in after all. See you in 20, by the fountain?"
"Sure thing!" I agreed with a nod. And with that, after watching the last few fights, I returned to my dorm room and began getting ready for lunch. Though the rest of the team were giving me giggles and strange looks when I told them. I just couldn't fathom why...
A/N: It's good to be back in action! I've returned after a long creative drought, ready to continue writing this story. I apologize for making you wait, but I hope you enjoyed chapter 3!
