Chapter 2: Horizon
A.N. Hey! Sorry for like, no updates. Lol? Not really. I have actually had a case of writer's block… I have been devoid of story ideas, but I am taking requests now, so go ahead and PM me! I don't bite, much. Anyways, so the summary for this chapter is that Garrus asks Shep a rather personal question and he unknowingly sets himself up for revenge.
Garrus stood in the Main Battery, although he wasn't calibrating. His thoughts were way too preoccupied. He couldn't stop thinking of her. He loved Shepard ever since the first Normandy went down, taking the commander with it. In those two years the blonde was on his mind and he fought for her; in her memory. The blood of the mercenaries stained his Turian hands, and they were stains he could not just… Wash off. But when Aislyne was around, Garrus felt like it was all in a previous life. She made him live in the moment and he had no regrets, except for scaring her a couple weeks ago. She had been ignoring him for almost three weeks now, and he was rather annoyed with her in all actuality.
He had just been standing around, thinking of all the fun memories he had with the commander when the door hissed open, scaring the Turian who was immersed in his own little world. He turned on his heels and looked at the person who stood in front of him.
"A- Commander," He said with formality. "How can I help you?"
"I am taking you to Horizon with me. Get your shit together and meet Grunt and I in the cargo hold. You've got fifteen minutes, got it?" Her tone was heavy with the venom of anger.
He was genuinely hurt. But this was a war and he couldn't be such a baby. He shrugged as she gave him a glare, and she scowled. "Okay, okay. I'll be down." She turned and headed towards the door, but he gently grabbed her arm, and although he was wearing his armor-issued gloves, her could feel how tense she was. "But first, I have a question."
"Well then say it. Time is ticking, Vakarian." She said, and even her voice was tense after he had touched her.
"Why are you so… renegade? Thought you were paragon." Garrus knew this sounded weird. But it was how Shepard classified herself- Paragon and renegade. And he wasn't about to criticize it.
"First, don't use my words. And second, I am just not having a good week at all, and I am… I am just a bit sad. Happy?" She slapped his hand which was still planted on her forearm with a look.
"Careful there, tiger." Garrus said, and before she could throw a punch at him, he hurried out of the room with his Viper in hand. Garrus heard a frustrated scream from behind him and sighed. He was going to pay for that.
Shepard's cries of pain continued on and on throughout the whole mission as she repeatedly threw herself at the Collector Drones and assassins. He winced every time without knowing it. Finally, what seemed like the end of the damned mission came and Shepard finally regained her shields fully, and although she was mad at him, Garrus relaxed. EDI reported that there were enemies inbound, and Garrus groaned.
About 30 minutes later
After all enemies, including the damn Praetorian were eliminated, Shepard took the worst injury. Kaidan, her past lover, put her down while her emotional state was unstable enough. Garrus wanted to punch the Alliance biotic so hard, because Shepard's voice faltered when she told Joker to pick them up. Now, as the turian sat in the lounge, his mind sprang with an idea.
He hurried to the elevator and asked EDI where Shepard was politely.
"Shepard is currently in her quarters. With a bottle of rum."
"Uhm, okay, because I totally needed to know that."
"There is a danger the Commander is drunk, and she is mean to Joker and the crew when she is drunk. Especially you, Officer Vakarian."
Garrus mumbled something that resembled an I know and bowed his head after pressing the first floor; the Captains Cabin. It seemed to take hours for the elevator to climb to Shepard's residence and Garrus sighed. He was beginning to lose his nerve.
When the elevator finally halted and the door hissed open, Garrus inhaled deeply and walked to the opposite door. He stood there for a moment before rapping on the door politely and heard the Commander's slurred voice.
"Hazzaaaaaa- or issss it hoooraahhhh? Come innnn!"
Garrus was rather amused by this act and tapped the door controls until it opened and his mandibles flared in surprise at the sight. The Commander sat on her desk, datapads all over the ground along with papers and her face was red. Her eyes also looked a bit puffy and there were lines on her face coming from eyes, which he assumed were streaks were her tears had fallen.
"Gaaaaaarrus! I haaaavennnn't seen yooooooou in like, aaaannnnn hooooour!" Her words were being dragged on now.
"Uh, ya." Garrus said awkwardly as she flung more datapads and papers on the ground from the spot next to her.
"Sssit doownnn, wooould yaaa?" She said, patting the space she just cleared off. Garrus walked slowly, mindful of the datapads, trying not to step on them and warily sat down next to her.
"Why, Ais? Why are you like this?" He questioned, looking down at her small figure compared to his large, bulky and armoured one. He looked back up.
"Well," She said. "I haaaad to gett Kaaaidaaannn off of myyyy miiind sooo I decided- I decided…" When Garrus looked back down again, she had a tear slipping down her tan cheek. He watched, perplexed for a moment, before it fell onto her collarbone and averted his gaze to avoid looking at… her. He gently wiped the tear away with his thumb and she looked up at him- her green eyes felt like they burned into his icy blue ones. He didn't know if it was right… But he pressed his mouth plates to her forehead, which earned a shocked, but relaxed gasp from her. He knew she loved Kaidan.
But in this instance, it didn't matter. She nudged her head under his elbow and rested it on his upper thigh. He reached down and softly played with the hair that covered her eyes after taking his glove off. Obviously. his reptilian like skin didn't bother her, because she was asleep within minutes. He rested his cowl against the glass in front of all her models and sighed, falling asleep himself.
A.N. So? How was it? What do you think? I did this at midnight. Anyways, R&R! Hope to see ya tomorrow!
