Sorry for taking so long with this! I had some non-fanfiction things I was working on! Enjoy!
I do not own Pendragon, or Hyrule (sadly).
Chapter 3-The She-Demon
It had been almost two weeks since they had heard anything from Seth. Even Bobby had come home before they had heard anything. Apparently it was possible for things to be quiet on the Traveller front. Mark guessed Seth might be involved in this quiet period. He wasn't sure how, but he could sense it. Was it coincidence that it was around Bobby's birthday? To be honest, it made him a bit uneasy. Courtney didn't say, but he suspected that had crossed her mind too. It also seemed ironic that the next message came after Bobby left-uncomfortable with the idea that Saint Dane could be trying to take down a territory during Bobby's rest.
This time, it came through the ring. At first they suspected it was Bobby's, but when the package was shown, Courtney was almost instantly at the house. Thankfully, Mark's parents were away that day. Yet another jarring coincidence. When the two turned it on, the familiar face came up. This time, he looked a little tired.
"Guys, I'm sorry this took so long. You see, my brother was visiting. As well, major drama trip right after. You'd be surprised how many students got in trouble for sneaking alcohol on the carriage." He sighed. "Well, at least it's just you two. You two seem to behave-or at least, I'm only partially responsible for your behaviour." He shook his head, as if trying to hold sleep off. "I suppose I should be starting now. Now before we can really get into the story, we need to introduce one more person. We all met her six months after meeting the catalyst…now how to describe her…
He had really done it now! Even the six year old could comprehend how much trouble he was in! Silently, he wished for more time. Daniel regretted many things. He had wanted to hang out with Luke one more time, or even actually say hello to Joni. So many things…
He'd rather do anything than be a victim of this psychopathic female.
Sure it was his fault that it lead to this, but was it worth that much? He did say sorry…
"OWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!" Daniel howled as said little girl jabbed her elbow in the middle of his back for the tenth time in a row. She grabbed his hair and yanked. Hard.
"Oh shut up! You deserve this!"
He looked up, seeing the incriminating boot mark on her face. "I said I was sorry...OW!" He shrieked as when she grabbed another clump of hair.
She raised an eyebrow, and looked him straight in the eye, and he swore he had never seen such a menacing face. "You kick me again, and I will turn you into goo." He whimpered at the sound of that.
Stepping back, she folded her arms. "Now why did you do that?"
Should he answer? She wasn't stable and he wasn't sure how he'd react. Plus it was kind of embarrassing…
Looking to the side he whispered. "I-I was on the swing…"
"Really? I didn't know." She scowled and raised an eyebrow. Daniel gulped. "I-I thought i-it might be fun to pretend to be o-one of the birds so I kicked my legs out to get more air…"
She stared for a moment. Then she started to quiver-followed by bursting laughter.
"Y-you're a c-cuckoo a-alright!" The girl fell to the ground. Daniel felt himself getting angry.
"IT'S NOT FUNNY!"
She looked at him. She seemed confused, and then started to smirk. "So you're not a complete baby."
His eyes squinted. "No."
The menacing look came again, but there was a different emotion in her eyes than anger. "So how tough are you?"
"Ummm…."
They were cut off by a "what you going to do twerp?"
Both of them whipped around. Two fifth graders-the scum of the world as far as Daniel was concerned-were dangling someone at their eye level. Poor kid…
That was Luke. That was Luke that was being dangled there.
Now it was personal.
Tugging up his sleeves, he stormed them up to them-as best as he could, he was still really sore from the little girl's beating-and stopped right behind him.
"Put him down!"
They turned around. Daniel flinched. They were taller than they appeared over where they were. However, with a cough, he hid his fear.
"Picking on people is rude."
One raised his eyebrow, and sneered.
"What are you going to do?" He stuck his face right in his. Daniel coughed again, but this time from the stench.
"Well!" He stuck his finger up. Not the naughty finger, but the pointing finger. "Well…" He racked his brain to try to come up with something, and quick. The fifth grader started to raise his eyebrow and Daniel saw the little girl slap her hand on her face. That looked like it must have hurt.
It only took that moment of distraction and in an instant, he felt himself being swept off the ground. All of a sudden, he was face to face with Luke.
"Sorry."
"It's the thought that counts." Luke sighed. "Hey! What's she doing?"
Daniel looked over to where he pointed and the little girl was approaching them. Her manner was strangely casual, staring half-lidded into their eyes while she meandered over with her arms behind her back.
"Hey! Losers! Does beating up a couple of kids make you feel better? Are you so wimpy that you can only handle small children?"
"And who are you, little girl."
"Anji Heradoc, the 'little girl' who is going to destroy you."
"Can you believe this kid?" The one laughed, poking her forehead while turning to his friend, who had the boys.
"How fast can we send this one to her mommy?"
Then, she started to laugh. Daniel didn't really understand what was so funny. He looked at Luke and he shrugged. She had to be crazy. There was no other explanation.
"I like making deals. It's only fair if I'm fighting weaker people. You two fight me. Whoever cries mommy first loses. If one of you yells mommy, then only that person loses."
The two fifth graders exchanged looks. "Deal." The one threw the other two on the ground, fully acquainting Daniel with the taste of playground sand. It was nasty. He turned around. Neither of the boys wanted to watch, but there was no way either would dishonour her memory. Such a brave and very stupid girl.
However, such thoughts were unnecessary.
She grinned. "Go."
Before they could even move, she launched herself into the first. As the one had little weight on him, the speed of the impact knocked him right over. She got up and jumped on him. A couple of times the two winced when the fifth grader made a high pitched strangled sound. She grabbed him by the hair and dragged him. For some reason, his desperate grabs to get her off didn't seem to faze her as she tied his hair to a low lying branch. Picking up a stick beside her, she gripped the bottom and started to wail on him.
It was painful to watch.
"MOMMY!" The one yelled. She stuck her tongue out at him and turned to the next source of prey. The fat one. She went to lunge at him, like the other. This time though, she did something phenomenal. Picking him up by the leg, she started to spin him around. He was shrieking. Luke was muttering "this is impossible" over and over while Daniel just stared in a mix of awe and sheer terror.
"MOMMY!" He screamed as she prepared to let go. She stopped and dropped him on the ground. He made an 'oof' sound. Kneeling next to the older boy she whispered "I win."
With that, she stood up from the ground and turned to the two. It was kind of amusing as both boys screamed and desperately tried to hide from each other as she stood there watching them.
"D-DON'T HURT U-U-US!" Luke hollered.
"Does this happen often? You two get bullied-how often?"
"…" Daniel muttered.
"What?" She raised an eyebrow.
"A lot…" Daniel blushed. Disturbingly, she smirked when he spoke.
"Excellent." Daniel went to speak but a quelling look shushed him. "It appears we might have a deal. I need to cut my boredom, and you two need a bodyguard. I don't need paid. The fun is enough."
"Why do you want to be o-our bodyguard?" Luke asked.
"When girls start school, they're expected to play dolls, dress up…it's gross. I want to fight, but everyone is too weak. So if I get this, I can fight."
Both of the boys looked at each other, weighing the pros and cons. They nodded and turned to her.
"Deal."
"And that is the story of…*yawn*…the trio was formed. Now that you know the major allies, we can get started on the story. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go sleep. I know this is improper to mention, but I'm an old man and a busy one at that too."
The transmission turned off, as the end was reached.
The two exchanged looks. What would the story entail? More importantly, could it help the travelers?
Thank you for reading! I'll be faster with the next one!
