The rest of the night things were tense. Edward kept asking what I lost, I kept ignoring him. In truth, I don't know what I lost. Maybe my sanity? I chuckled at the thought. Roy and Riza knew about the taboo I committed but they couldn't figure out what I lost either.
"I'm headed off to bed you guys." I said, stretching slightly. I got up and walked to the bedroom I would be sharing with Edward. It had been decided that Al would get the master bedroom since the other beds were too small for him to even sit on.
I put away my clothes in the dresser closest to my bed before laying down. I took my hair out of the ponytail it was in, letting my dark crimson locks flow to my shoulders. I ran my fingers through it a couple times before I closed my eyes, letting sleep take me.
Edward's POV:
"I'm headed off to bed you guys." Adrain said, stretching. Once he was out of ear shot, I turned to Al. "He's hiding something. Something big." I said, crossing my arms and leaning back into the couch.
"Don't be so suspicious brother. He seems nice." Al said, looking in the direction Adrain had gone. "Yeah, he seems nice Al. He could be faking it." I said, staring at my brother.
I didn't seem right. We both wore a noticeable proclamation of our taboo. We both had some indication that we had done human transmutation and yet, you wouldn't know Adrain had done it unless you saw him do alchemy. I looked down at my lap. I was jealous. ' I'm going to find out what he lost..' I thought. And with that, I stood up and started towards our shared room. Luck wasn't on my side that night because there was a knock on the door.
Alphonse moved to get it and I wish he hadn't. In walked Mustang. "Oh God, what do you want now!?" I sighed, leaning against the wall. "I need to talk to Adrain." He said, leaning over like he was out of breath. "Well, he's asleep. Like I will be soon." "You can stay here, Colonel. Until he wakes up." Alphonse said. Curse him and his niceness. I shook my head and continued to my room.
I closed the door as I walked in. I did a quick sweep of the room, taking a mental picture of where everything was. I looked to the mass of red in the bed across from mine. Adrain was already fast asleep.
'I guess I won't be finding out tonight..' I thought as I stripped down, crawling into my own bed, facing the wall away from him.
I had only been there for an hour before I heard the faint sound of whimpering. I turned over to see Adrain sitting up, his hand to his chest and his eyes closed. I slowly sat up, looking at him. "Adrain.." I whispered.
He didn't respond.
"Adrain.." His breathing got heavier. He tightened his grip on his shirt and tugged at the neck line. His face was beet red.
I quickly moved over to him, calling for Alphonse as I moved. I had never seen anything like this. I grabbed his shoulder and tried to talk to him. My heart was racing. I felt myself being ripped away from him by Alphonse. I watched as Roy swooped in.
I watched as he pulled off Adrain's shirt, as he cradled him in his lap, as he put his lips to his neck. I instantly grew uncomfortable. What was he doing? Adrain grabbed at Roy's collar, still struggling to breath. "Don't just sit there! He can't breath!" I yelled, fighting against Al's hold. "Brother, just watch." I glared at Roy as he held Adrain. He was still gasped as Roy breathed on his neck. Slowly, the color drained from his face and his breathing started to slow down. He hid his face in Roy's neck and his body shook as he cried.
"D.. Daddy.." he cried, clinging to Roy's jacket. 'Daddy..?' I thought, staring at them. I hadn't realized Al had let go of me. "Don't worry, Daddy's here. Daddy's here. Just try to calm down, okay? There's nothing to worry about now." Roy said, his fingers tangled in Adrain's hair.
"Is.. Is he okay..?" I asked, slowly moving over to them.
