Through the night I thought about the house in the woods. It was perfect, so perfect it made the house I grew up in feel like an undesired place to be in right now. 's words kept ringing in my ear through the night.
What if I really wanted the house?
I sat on my bed and looked at the resting place in my wooden desk were my laptop laid. It was calling me after days of being neglected.
'what better way than to move on from a tragic break up...'
I looked down at my hands and got up.
'This house was built for some one like you...' I looked at my laptop and ignored it as I reached for my spiral note book. I sat down and open a new clean page.
'After thinking things over, I will give the house a try (it's not like I had a choice, I already signed the contract). Two weeks stuck in their, I don't know how to feel at the moment... Should I be excited or annoyed? This feels like one of Eddy's childish scams all over again. Oh dear me, how am I going to discuss this with my parents?
If their is one thing was right about(I still don't feel comfortable with the thought that he knows a lot about me and am in need of questioning him further) is that I need to move on from this excruciating chapter in my life. My parents have been very kind in letting me stay with them for this long. It's time I stood back up and did something for myself. It is time to move on!
Baby steps are in order, and for them I need my two dearest friends to become my crutches for a day.

"Are you sure about this sock head?" Eddy questioned.
"Positive Eddy." I nodded. I took a sip of my strawberry shake through a straw as i waited for my friends respond.
Eddy and Ed had been my best friends for years since the day i moved to the cul-de-sac at a young age, an inseparable trio through middle school and high school. Eddy, a short tempered guy who had his own business going on in another city but this days he seems to be vacationing with his wife of five years named Lee. He was a few inches shorter than i, for were i stood at a good height of 5"11 he was in a height of a 5"6. The tallest of our trio was none other than Ed who stood at a height of 6"4, towering over everyone ever since he had a growth sprout in freshman year. A strong, tall and not so bright individual who held a heart sweeter than any candy out their.
Today, I had called both of them to help me on a my plan to get my life back to how it use to be. The direction it should have gone six years ago. If their was anyone I could always trust to push me back on my feet it will be my two pals Ed and Eddy.
I had asked them to meet me in my own house. When mother had heard the part of my plan(not including the house in the woods) she was ecstatic and decided to make us some shakes.
Ed, who finished his chocolate shake, looked at me with a questioning gaze.
"Double D are you sure 'bout this?"
I sighed."Ed..."
"Come on sock head, listen to lumpy here." Setting his head on his hands he kept on. "We feel yah man, it's tough to move on after a harsh break up like the one you had with this dweeb of an idiot named Bryan."
"His name is Nick, Eddy."
"Like I care if his name was Chuck!" He groaned. "Look, you called us here to help you get over him by getting rid of all the things you have of him. You could have done that yourself."
"Yes, but..." I bit my lip and looked down, I grabbed on my straw and tried to put together what I was to say next. "I just...my conscience is to...ummm..."
"Double D can't do it by himself because he felled hard and is unable to move around without gaping like a fish in the sand Eddy." Ed explained. "So we need to become the wings to his legs and lift him to the sky again."
I smiled. "Precisely, thank you Ed for your very creative grammar use." Ed had out his comic days in good use by turning to poetry. He and I were in the same career choice.
"Whatever, but if you want us to get rid of everything than that's what we'll do." Eddy had a devious smile as he stood up.
"Oh thank you Eddy and Ed! I knew I could always count on you two." I smiled at them.
My mother came around and patted Ed's head. "How are my favorite chaparo and grandulon doing? Are you two going to help my poor niño?"
"We sure are Double D's mommy!" Ed exclaimed. Even at age 28 Ed was okay with my mother making him feel like a child.
Eddy nod with a prideful look as he slipped his hands on the pockets of his black slacks. " don't cha worry ma'am will have him cure out of this phase in no time."
"That's great to here!" She clasped her hands together and sat down with us. " So what are you going to do first?"...
For three days, Ed, Eddy, mother and father had helped me throw away anything and everything I had of Nick. Though it was very hard on my part due to I becoming quite attached to some of the things I was given.
"Wait Eddy! Don't! NOT EINSTEIN!"
Eddy rolled his eyes as he struggled to keep my outstretched hands away from the object I dubbed Einstein.
"Come on Sockhead everything's gotta go!" He exclaimed and threw the bear to Ed.
I watched petrified as he was thrown in the dumpster with all the other things. Pictures, gifts, and toys all left my property and into the trash bin to be dispose of later.
I know it was for my own good and for I to move on but it was difficult to do so when I have gotten so attached to many of my things. If only this was as easy as I made it out to be...
My father was rummaging through my laptop deleting every photo of Nick and I. The first thing he did though was change my background to just a plain blue background. Then he left to get something after he checked some papers I held neatly stacked in my desk and brought a shredder. I winced at every shredded item even if I gave my father my back.
"Alright-o that's everything Eddy!" Ed exclaimed as he threw the bag at his shoulder. He started to skip downstairs in front of Eddy who had a devilish smirk. Curiously I followed them straight to the backyard where my mother had oiled a trash can and set fire inside.
"Oh bien, you are all out! Now throw it all here!" She gesture at the fire.
It finally hit me what was about to occur and I stood their paralyze as they went on to throwing everything inside the can.
"O-oh dear." I muttered in disbelief.
My father walked out, suit and tie on, with a bag of giant marshmallows and long sticks. "I have retrieved everything but the crackers dears."
Mother smiled as she grabbed ahold of them. "Oh that's alright mi amor, thank you." Gave him a peck on the cheek and they both walked hand in hand to the already started fire. I watched in horror as everything was destroyed right in front of me.
"Come on Sockhead join the circle around the fire!" Eddy yelled, a marshmallow on a stick in hand as it roasted over the fire. I watched as Ed and my parents followed suit with Eddy and watched as I took steady steps over to them.
"It's alright mijo." my mother consoled me. Father put a hand on my shoulder as mother gave me a Marshmallow on a stick. "Soon you will be over this, Edduardo."
I sighed nodding at her words and looked at the fire seeing Einstein staring back at me with what was left of his burned face.
"Good bye Einstein." I murmured and followed suit with the roasting of the started humming a familiar song and every one followed along as so did I in the peaceful night under the night sky.
'Good bye Nick.'
...
...
.
'Do it.' I commanded myself. 'Do it, just, DO IT NOW! Now before the atmosphere dies down.'
I was trying to bring up the courage to tell them about the house in the forest I had found about. My parents and my two best friends were laughing and sharing stories of old times. The fire just made it more perfect for reminiscent moments we were all exposed to. I knew this should be the right moment to tell them.
"N-no, but seriously Ed just got his head stuck in the jar and the nurse didn't know what to do." Eddy kept going on.
I gave a small smile as every one just outright guffawed at what he said.
Eddy looked at me and scrunched his face.
"What's with you? This is gold here you should be pissing yourself."
I shook my head. "It's nothing," I responded.
Every one was now staring at me and after a silenced moment I decided that now or never.
I sighed.
"Actually," I looked around, my eyes staying mostly at my parents. " I have some news to say."
"Well than go ahead son, " my father spoke, taking a drink of his water. "The stage is all yours."
I fidgeted for a while trying to find the right way I could say this without having them question me too much.
"I...I'm..I'm-"
"Oh wait, wait I know this one Double D." Eddy said, shaking his heads before attempting to look serious. " Let me guess, your gay?"
I pouted as everyone laughed at the 'joke'.
"HA ha Eddy."
"Oh come on man, just trying to lighten the mood for yah."
"I suppose, anyways. Mother, father...I'm moving out."
My father spitted his water and mother gasped. Eddy and Ed raised their eyebrows high. "W-w-what?!" Mother started.
"Moving? Where?" Father questioned.
I played with my fingers as I answered, not looking at them.
"While I was out yesterday, I found this nice place. A perfect place to say, it has everything from a kitchen to bedrooms and a library."
"A library?"
"Y-yes! A library! Doesn't that sound wonderful? It's full of glorious books and their all ordered by genre and it has a beautiful view of a pumpkin patch near the woods an-"
"Woods!?"
"O-oh well it's kind of ..."
"Where is this house Eddward?"
"Well it's a little out of the city and in the center of the woods, but not to worry it is safe."
Father stood up."Safe?! How is a house safe in the middle of the woods with whats been happening?"
"Father please, let me explain."
"Amor." Mother brought father to sit as I started.
"Double D found a home Eddy." Ed whispered to Eddy a little bit to loud to be called a whisper and I watched Eddy rolled his eyes.
I waited for everyone's attention on myself to start my long tale about what had occur the day before. I left out a few details like how the door opened and closed, and how Mr. Salutan knew everything about. I had them on my every word and mother and father asked for every detail of the house, looking more and more concern as I described it from top to bottom.
"It is very strange." Mother mumbled.
Father nodded in agreement." Yes, I agree dear, I've never seen or heard of a house in the forest. And this Salutan fellow sounds...odd."
Ed looked at me with teary eyes. "No Double D for a whole week?"
I shook my head.
"Of course you can come and visit me Ed. You and Eddy will always have a place with me." I smiled reassuringly.
It was true.
Years of knowing these two fellows and never once have they ever left my side nor mind. They were brothers more than friends and no matter what anyone said Ed and Eddy were the best of the best I could have ever met.
"Eddward."
Turning to my mother I saw how defeated she looked. "Theirs nothing your father and I could say to change your mind, is their?" She asked still keeping a shred of hope. But I shook my head, no.
"I am to stay their for a week before I can proclaim it as a safe and stable place for my own persona."
Father sighed, his shoulders as well slumped. "Dear stop feeling like you didn't see this coming."he started. "Our son is an adult now and he can make his own decisions now."
'Actually I've been making decisions for my well being since I was ten' I had to bit down my own tongue not to speak my thought and it seem that by the hesitant looks in my best friends they were going through the same thing.
"Oh I know it's just that..." My mother looked at me. "I never get to see you much. We weren't their for you as much as we should've been and now that we've gotten the chance to, I-I have seem to have forgotten that-that tu lla no eres un niño, eres un hombre." She seem ready to break down to tears. (You are no longer a boy, you are a man.)
"Mother." She waved her hand at me and gave me a teary smile. Father put his hand on her shoulder.
"I want to see this house."
...
It only took an hour to pack everything up and an extra forty-five minutes to get to our destination. Mother and father drove in my vehicle while Eddy and Ed had their own. As much as I love my parents I had pleaded with my friends to give them the ride instead of I due to a predictable tense silence that was up to come.
I was right to predict such thing after I was denied both favors from them, mother and father kept to themselves as I drove us to the house in the woods. The obvious tension that grew inside my vehicle was suffocating enough that I rolled down the windows just to breath.
'Everything will be alright.' I told myself.
My hands had become sweaty at the thought of them seeing the house. It wasn't in its best time but the inside was to die for- well, if you can get pass the cobwebs, dirt , dust bunnies and the stench then it will be just a dandy place to raise a family.
"Strange, what is that man doing in the middle of the streets?" Mother spoke up bringing me out of my thoughts.
I hit the breaks quickly as I noticed the man in a green suit, smiling at our directions in the middle of the road. I stared for awhile longer before I could put a name to the strangers face.
"Wait here."
I got out of my car and looked at Mr. Salutan Dealer.
"Why hello again Mr. Vincent. I'm so glad you're back." His grin seem to stretch across his face. "And you brought company, how intriguing."
