Helix loved Aya like a sister, she really did. But there were some days that she wished she'd never entered into that damned contract with the future lycan pack leader. As the raven haired girl all but skipped merrily down the streets of Volterra, stopping occasionally to look at the different little market stalls or through the various shop windows, Helix was left to follow behind, her head pounding with the force of the mother of all hang over's and her arms ready to fall off with the copious bags of trashy tourist merchandise that Aya had seen fit to buy and pile on top of her red headed best friend.

"For fuck sake Aya! The contract said nothing about me being your bag carrying bitch!"

The wolf turned, an overly chirpy smile on her face to cover up the fact that her own skull felt like it was being pummelled with the hang over hammer, noticing the vein sticking out of Helix's forehead as the other tourist's sent them both funny looks. Aya had to admit, between the two of them, it was no wonder the humans were staring as they passed by. With her neon blue eyes, overly pale skin and pitch black hair, Aya knew that even without Helix being there, people would have been staring a little anyway, but with Helix's own appearance thrown in, her flaming red hair and coal black eyes, the numerous tattoos running up her arms that were symbolic to her bloodline in contrast to the deathly pale shade of her own skin, no wonder people were ogling them like the prized freak show at the circus. Not that Aya gave a flying fuck about what they thought.

"Awww c'mon Hel, the minute we made that contract you became my bitch in general"

Aya managed to duck as an arm full of shopping bags came flying towards her, narrowly missing as the demon let off a string of colourful insults. But Aya had zoned out, her attention caught by something in the distance, frustrating Helix further as she followed the wolf's line of sight towards a woman stood amongst a crowd of people.

"Tours for the clock tower! free admittance into one of Volterra's most historic buildings!"

The woman's voice was soft, sultry, yet could be heard clearly above the bustle of the market place, and her appearance was one that any woman would have gladly died for. But she put Helix on edge with her unnatural beauty, with her overly alluring voice that seemed to draw the humans in like moths to a flame.

"We should go on that tour! C'mon Hel, you get a break from shopping and I get to snoop around a big dusty castle! it's a win-win situation"

Aya made towards the woman, jumping slightly when Helix's hand grabbed her wrist. The grave look on the demon's face sent a cold chill down the wolf's back, an expression her friend rarely wore unless something had really set her on alert. What could be wrong? Was it the tour or did Helix get a bad feeling about the woman leading them?

"Aya... I don't think that tour seems like a good idea, we should just keep shopping... Even if it means me being your bag bitch"

It wasn't that Helix was scared, far from it, but something about that woman and the tour she was promoting seemed dangerous and, contract or no contract, the mere thought that Aya wanted to go on such a thing put her on high alert to keep her friend safe. The chances of her allowing Aya into any form of danger, real or not, was about as likely as snow in the seven circles of hell. Aya blinked in surprise, shocked that Helix would sooner be her shopping slave than go on a simple little tour, before stamping her foot in childish annoyance, ignoring how Helix scowled at her behaviour.

"But I want to go on the tour! You know how much I love history and don't even try to deny that your curious too!"

"For the love of all that's unholy Aya! You know I rarely go against your wishes or suggestions but, on this, I'm adamant that we are not going in there... Something just doesn't seem right"

Aya calmed down slightly at her words. It was true, Helix hardly ever thought her ideas were bad but when she did, she was usually right. She gave a sigh of annoyance before sending one last longing look towards the tour group, admitting defeat and following her demon best friend away.

"Fine, but you sure as hell better make this shit up to me!"

Helix smirked slightly, promising to buy the wolf a few round in the bar that night to appease her, thankful that she had won this small victory. But she could feel eyes upon her, eyes that seemed to know more than she would have liked.

*That night, the Volturi throne room*

"And you are sure of this Heidi?"

He looked down at the succubus from his throne as she knelt before he and his brothers, his smile twisted with warped glee at her information. It had been so long since something so intriguing had been brought before him.

"I am certain master Aro, I could not mistake their scent for anything. There is a true child of the moon and a demon within close proximity of the Volturi"

He clasped his hands in manic excitement of her words. How delightful that such beings would trespass upon his land when he had begun to grow bored of his own kind and the foolish mortals that wandered around the town. He had not seen a true child of the moon since his fair haired brother. Caius, had almost destroyed them all completely and demons, well, they were rare to find within the mortal world due to their refusal to leave the shadow realm unless called upon by another for the purpose of a contract. And to find two of these races, that usually hated each other so completely, together and seemingly quite close in friendship was even more fascinating. Such an opportunity for research could not be passed up, not when it seemed likely that the wolf had formed a contract with the demon. He flicked his wrist towards two of his guard, summoning them forward.

"Felix, Demetri... track them down and have them brought before us. Such creatures as these should not be permitted to roam freely through the Volturi vicinity"
