This story was written in response to the Delphic Expanse's Drabble Game prompt: crush.
T'Pol looked around and assessed the utterly sticky mess. Normally, Commander Tucker kept his machine shop immaculate, so she was perplexed. She turned to him and Lieutenant Reed. Both were grinning and taking distance measurements.
"I think we'll get more velocity with a cantaloupe," said Tucker.
T'Pol was incredulous. "I fail to see the logic in crushing a watermelon with an industrial press."
The two men dissolved into peals of laughter. Finally, when Tucker had recovered, he said, "That's the point, T'Pol."
Just when she decided she needed to report this to the captain, he appeared carrying a large melon.
