Miss Ellen M Sutherlin - June 2017- Manhattan

The way that humanity had changed in 100 hundred years was interesting. The loss of slavery, the way that the South had been devastated by the Yankees up North. That said, they did produce such wonderful artist.

Miss Ellen Sutherlin had been curious about the sight she kept coming upon the last few months of Vampires climbing into a window in Manhattan. It perplexed her, because she knew them, they were all Toreadors and young, just barely out from under their sire's wings and after venturing into the room they never showed back up to Elysium or their regular haunts, so Miss Ellen was investigating.

She staked out the building, watched people come and go, for a few more weeks before deciding she might as well go in. She climbed through the window one night. 'Unlatched windows, so careless these Yankees are today' and surveyed the room. A figure with long braided almost white hair sat at a desk facing away from the window, the only source of light in the room coming from a desk lamp. 'An old woman' she muses stealthly walking forward to get a closer look, the soft sound of a pencil scratching the air took up and Miss Ellen curious made sure to take a loud step.

The woman whirled around to show the face of a child, with wide pink eyes, hands shaking as they reached for a drawer of their desk to pull out what would appear to be a small gun. "I know why you're here" the girl, not a woman squeaks out.

"Why, do you really now?" Miss Ellen asks gliding forward a few steps. She watches the girl draw back in her chair, eyes widening, hands shaking making the gun rattle about and the nose of it dip up and down precariously. The girls shoulders are rising up and Miss Ellen can't help but brush down the front of her skirt in enjoyment, a habit from her youth she never quite got rid of.

"Yes" she yowls out, "yo-you want to look at my art, you want to steal it, turn me, do something about my, my skills."

"Well, I would say honey that I was just curious were everybody else was heading so late at night, but sure why don't you show me your artwork. Lets see if it moves me."

"This-this is my tome, my sketchbook. I uh worked hours on completing it" the girl says and shoves the thick, messy sketchbook towards the older woman who almost recolies at the sight of it before leaning in to look. 'Why it's rather amatuer' she thinks taking in the art piece. 'But there is some promise' she thinks looking at the clean lines 'I could possibly mold this into something beautiful, worthy of an eternity.'

So Miss Ellen smiles a closed smile and tells the young girl "why, that is the most darling thing that I've ev'r seen, say I simply must hav-"

"No!" the girl shouts and the Torreador frowns, and stands up to her full height. "I-I worked hours on it, and it's finally finished." With that Miss Ellen starts to turn, to go back. She has no need to play with foolish children, regardless of whether or not she could mold them however she wanted. She has more pressing matters, and as she is about to gracefully duck out of the window as gracefully as one can in a nice pencil skirt the girl speaks up.

"WAIT!...wait. I wont give it to you, I want something in return, but look let me show you what else I have" the girl pleads and Miss Ellen comes out from the window and walks back towards the girl in her rolling chair. "Well, do go on dear what do you want?"

"I know what you are! You're a vampire. I want- I want immortality to, Look I've been drawing all kinds of vampiric myths in my sketchbook, I'm ready for the change. No one else who comes into my room at night will accept my offer so they get dusted." The girl watches the tall woman take in her words, she doesn't move, her chest does not rise or fall. She's shaken by her actions. "Things are not going to go well for you. I've got traps hidden all over the room. They...They will target you?"

And Miss Ellen laughs. Oh does she laugh, hand barely able to cover her mouth as she laughs at the terrified girl in front of her. She laughs at the timid little mouse and her shaky gun and knows the traps if there are any won't be configured enough for her speed.

"Well, aren't you just the cutest thing."

"Well?"

Miss Ellen stands there a bit thinking, watching the girl shake. 'Usually you wait some time before selecting, but I have an eternity so I guess she'll do especially since I've already asked about expanding.'

"Well, alright that sounds like a fair deal. Are you fully prepared for the choice you're about to make?" And she watched amused as the girl nods and tilts her head back, unzipping part of her hoodie like it's something tremendous, but quick.

"Here. Just get it over with."

Miss Ellen smirks.
