Lend me a hand 2
"Ryoma- chan- kun, where are we going?" Aomine asked his brother looking around the human filled subway as they walked through, trying to get to their train.
"Just call me Ryoma, I've told you this a thousand times before. And we're going to the Kakinokizaka tennis tournament, which I've also told you one too many times before."
"Don't be like that" the navy blue haired boy puffed out his cheeks in annoyance holding tight to the other Echizen's wrist, "I try to remember this stuff, seriously I do, but for some reason I just end up blanking on the information…"
"I get that, but it's still ridiculous how horrible your memory is." Ryoma glanced at the older boy and could help but wonder how the pouting preteen next to him was the older of the two. He acted like a little kid and didn't let stranger's comments get to him. Ryoma's words on the other hand got an exaggerated reaction out of the male.
"Not my fault" Aomine grumbled keeping close to his brother so not to get lost in the massive crowd.
Ryoma rolled his eyes at the other's immaturity and pulled him onto the train they needed to get on to head to the Kakinokizaka tennis garden. Taking a seat next to one another Aomine and Ryoma watched as a small group of teenagers talked and laughed loudly to one another. One teen with shoulder length caramel brown hair held a tennis racket in his hands and was swinging it back and forth, nearly hitting a young girl in the face; each time the racket getting closer and closer to making contact.
"Fools, don't you even know your own grip?" the long haired brunette snorted, "If you want to do top-spins, you use the western grip." Holding his racket up to his friends he proceeds to demonstrate what he believed to be the western grip and how to swing it, "It's done by holding the racket like if you're going to shake someone's hand."
"Oh, that's why you're the ace at the Kitagoe tennis club" one of the brunette's friends said, proud of his friend
"Stupid, it's common sense!" it seemed like the trio of boys didn't notice that they were close to the hitting the girl again and so they continued to swing their rackets like nothing was wrong in the world.
"Hey" Ryoma suddenly spoke up catching the group's attention, "You guys are too loud." The teens stared down at Ryoma, but his face was covered by his signature cap causing shadows to shade his eyes from view. Aomine, who was also staring at the golden eyed boy, wondered why he had spoken up when he did. Did he notice the girl behind the older guys, or was he simply annoyed at how loud they were? Aomine suspected it was the first option because Ryoma never truly seemed to be bothered by Aomine and his obnoxious times of whining; instead he seemed to be amused or entertained. But maybe he simply put up with Aomine because he was his brother.
Suddenly, as if perfectly planned the train came to an unsteady halt, nearly knocking the teens off their feet, but instead of actually doing that. The long haired boy who seemed to be the trio's 'leader' dropped his tennis racket to the floor of the train with a loud clatter.
"Heh," leader boy chuckled, "I can't believe I just got told off by a grade schooler" He then picked up his racket from off the ground and got an unexpected comment from it.
"Bingo" Aomine sang as the loud boy picked up his racket, "Taking a racket from the ground is the correct western grip!" the grey eyed boy smiled widely at the shocked teen,
"Oh yeah, the handshake grip you were referring to is called the eastern grip." The younger Echizen explained, "There are some who mix them up."
"Hey you!" the nameless teen shouted as Ryoma and Aomine exited the train, "Wait up!"
As the brothers left they missed the teens' short conversation and instead were searching for the way to their tennis tournament, "Ryoma, do you even know where we're going?"
"Why would you think that I knew where I was going?" the more stoic Echizen asked
"Oh I don't know; you're the smarter and have a better memory than me."
"That… doesn't make any sense to what we're talking about…"
"Whatever! We should at least ask for directions! We- well you're going to be late if we keep wandering around aimlessly!"
"Hmm… I guess you're right."
"Damn straight I am!" Aomine grinned, "Now let's find someone who looks like they know where they're going!"
Ryoma shook his head at Aomine, "Once again your logic makes no sense."
For the second time that day Aomine puffed out his cheeks at his brother and glared forwards, "I don't need this from you" he grumbled. Breezing over the crowd Aomine looked for a person he could ask for help, or at least have Ryoma ask for them. "Hey she's the girl from the train right?" Aomine asked pointed at a small brunette was long braided pigtails as her hair style
"I think so… How about we ask her for help."
"Good idea Ryoma! Even though it was originally my idea…"
Ignoring his brother Ryoma walked over to the young girl who seemed to be in a daze, with Aomine in toe and asked, "Hey, do you know where Kakinokizaka Tennis Garden is?"
"Ryoma!" Aomine hissed, "Where are your manors?!"
Sakuno l looked up after breaking from her day dream and her eyes grew wide, "Ah! You're from the train!" she pointed her finger first at the younger Echizen then switched to the older. Suddenly realizing that pointing was rude the girl pulled her hand back and apologized, "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm going to Kakinokizaka Tennis Garden too. Are you two playing? This is my first time watching tennis!"
The Echizen boys ignored the girl's question and rant. Ryoma bluntly asked, "So, where is it?" simply wanting to get to the tennis garden before he got disqualified
"Ah, sorry!" the girl apologized again, "Er… You use the south exit and go straight," although she didn't sound confident in her answer the boys decided to take it and follow her directions.
"South exit?" Aomine checked before they left, "Thanks." Giving the young girl a kind smile Aomine tugged Ryoma towards the south exit and began walking, hoping that they would make it to the tournament before they were disqualified.
"Ryoma" Aomine muttered looking around trying to find the Tennis Garden, "I think we were given faulty directions…"
"I think so too… I guess I can't play in the tournament."
"What?" navy blue eyes furrowed together, "Why not? It's not our fault that we're gonna be late"
The younger of the two rolled his eyes, "I know that, but they won't care. We can at least go and watch."
"But I wanted to watch you kick butt…"
"You can't have everything Aomine."
"I know Ryoma… At least I still have you with me."
"What?" Ryoma looked at his brother in confusion
Aomine smiled and let out a light chuckle, "If I didn't have you I'd be lost and never be able to find my way home!"
"That's true" Ryoma walked on, focusing on the task of finding the tennis courts; that and making sure he felt pressure on his jacket or wrist. "Now hurry up, I think the tennis court's this way."
"Are those the tennis courts?"
"Yeah"
"I don't really want to watch anymore"
"What do you want to do?"
"Take a nap"
"You sleep to much as it is, you don't need a nap"
"I simply said that I wanted a nap, not that I needed one."
"Yeah yeah, whatever you say. We can take a nap in the shade."
"Thanks Ryoma- chan- kun."
"E-excuse me." A soft voice spoke to the Echizen brothers, "Did you make it on time?" When Ryoma looked up he saw the girl who gave him and Aomine the wrong directions to the Tennis Garden
"I was five minutes late. I defaulted." Ryoma said without much care. Aomine was currently half asleep on him and Ryoma didn't want to disturb him.
"I'm so sorry!" Sakuno shouted causing the bluenette to jolt awake from the unfamiliar wake up call, "It was all my fault,"
"Your right" Ryoma sat up, keeping the frazzled Aomine against him, "Could it have been anyone else?"
My girl frowned for a moment before an idea dawned upon her, "Are either of you thirsty?" she asked clapping her hands together
"Huh?"
As it turned out the girl didn't have any change and so Ryoma bought a Ponta for her and himself.
"I'm sorry" she apologized as Ryoma handed her the soda, "I didn't bring any change…"
Ryoma shrugged off the apology and let the half-awake Aomine take a sip from his can, "Don't be sorry" Aomine said before yawning, "It's not your fault you gave us bad directions, like us you didn't know where you were going. It's really not a big deal. Besides, the tournament wasn't a huge deal to Ryoma or I."
"You didn't even know about the tournament until we were on the train" Ryoma muttered sitting down on the bench that stood across from the vending machine.
"Hey! Leave me alone Ryoma! It's not my fault that my memory sucks!"
"Uh…" The girl stared at the brothers, wondering if she should do anything to stop their banter, but thought better of it. She didn't want to get thrown in between a family feud.
The two shot insults back and forth until they didn't have much else to say. Aomine puffed out his cheeks as he always does after an argument with Ryoma crossed his arms and huffs. The girl decided now was a good time to speak and wanted to thank them for what they did earlier. Sure it was more Ryoma than Aomine, but still they both deserved a note of thanks. "Er… Thank you for earlier. You saved me in the train."
"From what?" Ryoma inquired
"From what? Well, if you hadn't stepped in, I could've been hit by the racket."
"You were on the same train? Where did you sit?"
"Right across from you…"
"Hmm? Whatever, I just told them to shut up because they were loud, that's all…" Ryoma shrugged and took a long sip of his Ponta.
But before anyone could speak again a can was thrown between Ryoma and Aomine before clattering to the ground. Looking behind them Aomine, Ryoma and Sakuno saw the jerks from the train.
"Sorry for being so loud" The teen Ryoma had dissed on the train spoke, slowly he and his crew walked towards the pre-teens, smirks on all their faces "Aren't these the same punks from earlier?" the brown haired jerk asked his posse
"Oooh! Looks like he lost already- All packed up and ready to go home!" one of the guys laughed. Leader guy took a couple steps forwards and pulled his arm back, swinging his racket frontward- nearly hitting the younger Echizen in the face, but stopped before any physical contact could be made.
"It'll be ten years before a brat like you can teach me about tennis." The highschooler smirked cruelly while poking Aomine with his racket "Got it? You can't win at tennis just by memorizing the facts!" As the teens left, they made rude remarks to the younger students; unfortunately the king Jerk ran into Sakuno and made her spill her juice. "Hey you got your fucking juice on me! Now my clothes are all sticky! What am I supposed to do brat? Unlike baby here, I have a match before the finals!"
"I-I'm sorry…" Sakuno apologized, before the jerk could yell at the young girl again the pop of a can caught everyone's ears before a rain of Ponta sprung and doused Sasabe with its sticky liquid
"Hey… Do you remember the grip?" Ryoma took a sip from his newly opened Ponta with a smirk on his young face, "If you do… I'll teach you how to play tennis."
