Hello everybody! I got a lot of questions so... here are the answers in a nutshell. Yes, this is based off of Mako mermaids and yes they do have the powers that are in the show. But I'm also adding a few powers of my own. And... it's not exactly the same as the show... you'll see what I mean. Oh! And you'll notice that I went with the same setting as the show. So yes, they are Australian.

I really want to thank everyone who's stuck by me through all of my stories, even when it took me months at a time to update. It makes me happy that all of you wait, patiently dare I add. Haha well I'll stop with the gushy stuff.

Disclaimer! I do not own Fairy Tail! I wish I did, but I don't. That honor goes to Hiro Mashima. I also do not own the show Mako Mermaids.

As Gray looked at the four mermaids with obvious frustration, until a glare from Erza made him remember his place, he really took the time and looked each of the girls over. They really did look homeless, Gray was just hoping that wasn't the case for long because, technically, they were. Their pod up and left them after Natsu and himself came into contact with water from the Moon pool on Fairy Island.

"Why aren't you wearing shoes" Gray demanded, starting with small questions.

"Why don't we "talk and walk" as you humans say" Lucy said. The others started following her, acting as if they knew where they were going.

"It's "walk and talk" by the way. And stop acting as if you're in charge! This is my home, not yours" Gray shouted at the girls. "Doesn't it hurt to walk on that foot, Lucy? You just got stitches, you need to be careful or the wound will reopen."

"It does very badly thank you for asking. As for your earlier question, shoes are so uncomfortable. How can you humans wear them?" Lucy asked, her friends nodding in agreement.

"Humans are used to them. We've been wearing them our whole lives. OK I can't ignore this anymore. Where did you get those clothes?" Gray demanded.

"We got them from some boats. We thought it would be indecent to walk around with nothing covering us so we took some clothes" Levy explained.

Great, they stole on their first day here, Gray thought. He was going to have to teach these girls the ways of his world or else they are going to get in serious trouble. He looked at the mermaids and noticed them looking horrified. Worried, he asked-

"What's wrong?

"Those. Juvia wants to know what those deadly boxes are" Juvia said.

Does she always talk in third person, Gray wondered?

"Those are called cars. Humans drive in them to get from place to place" Gray explained slowly, as if he were teaching a five-year old.

"Juvia doesn't like these cars. They almost killed Juvia and Lucy earlier, if Levy had not pulled us back. Then they made a noise, acting as if they were innocent!" Juvia yelled.

"To them, they are. Here's the main question. How did..." Gray trailed off, pointing at their legs. Erza smirked and answered.

"You remember those moon rings Kagura and Michelle gave us?" Gray nodded, "Well me and Lucy, along with Levy and Juvia, focused our powers on them and it was just enough to give us legs, but only when we're dry. As soon as we touch water, the tails come back" Erza finished, smiling proudly at her explanation.

Gray nodded in understanding. Now he had another problem to deal with. These damn fishes are going to get themselves caught with all of their weaknesses. First, they haven't a clue about the human way of life. Second, and the most important one, was that if they even got a drop of water on them, the area will smell like sushi.

"You said powers? I didn't know you could do that. I just thought breathing underwater was your skill" Gray wondered out loud. Erza smacked him outside the head and Lucy answered.

"First off, human, we can't breath underwater. We can hold out breath for hours at a time without the need for air, but we can't breath. However, a few elders have gained the ability to breath underwater, but they have gills on their necks for that.

And second, we have all kinds of special abilities. We can make ourselves invisible, we can communicate telepathically, we can accelerate our speed, and we have control over anything with water either in it or on it" Lucy finished.

Gray was amazed, he had no idea that mermaids could do so much. "So what kinds of powers do you each have?" he asked, wanting to know more. Before they could answer, they came across a walkway. Gray pushed the walk button and waited for the Walkman to light up then they all started walking again.

"Well, we can do them all. But we each have our specialties," Levy started, "Lu-chan can freeze water and create blizzards; Erza can make water evaporate, she can start a fire, she can control electricity; Juvia can control the substances of water- meaning she can shape water, she can turn it into a jelly-like substance, and she can solidify it; and I can control the air and bend it to my will" Levy explained.

Gray nodded in amazement. How could four girls have so much power? Granted, their not human, but still?

"Like Levy said, we can each do all of those things, but we all have something we can do better" Juvia said, noticing Gray's face. Juvia knew that she had to make him know that they could each destroy this town if they wanted- but only if they didn't get what they wanted.

If Gray knew what Juvia's plan was, he didn't let it show. Instead, he went silent. He thought that he had asked enough questions for today. Gray decided to take them to his place, grab some money, and take them shopping. He wouldn't let these damn fishes keep on stealing to get what they want.

Finally, after walking for about ten minutes and explaining what things were the whole time, they finally arrived at his very own apartment. Thank got he lived alone, he couldn't stomach it if his mom, brother, or sister came home and saw him with four girls.

"So this is an apartment? How do you fit your pod in here?" Levy asked, already making herself at home and touching all of his things. Gray sighed.

"I don't keep my family here with me. They live at their own house about five blocks away" Gray answered.

"Why don't they live with you?" Lucy asked while looking at some shiny sticks. "What are these?" she asked.

"Those are called trophies. You get one when you win a competition. And... things happened. I couldn't stay in that house any longer so I got this place" Gray answered. Lucy saw the look in his eyes. She knew that look really well. She decided she wasn't going to ask any more questions about it. Today, anyways.

"Juvia want's to know what these are" Juvia asked, holding some of Gray's money.

"It's money. Humans use it when we want to buy something. Yes, that's right girls. Buy, not steal-" Erza hit him over the head.

"Ow! Damn fish what was that for- OW!" Gray yelled, holding his abused head.

"Do not call us fishes!" all four girls yelled at the same time, their fists not far from Gray's head.

"Sorry. Sorry." he started, "The money is for me so I can buy you clothes and shoes. You going to keep them here and change out of the swimwear I'll get you. 'Cause I'm pretty sure that your going to be naked every time you get here from Fairy, so the suits will be hidden" Gray explained. The girls nodded.

"Your right... except that when we change, the clothes go back to where we got them from. It's a rule for mermaids with legs. So, say we like the clothes we have on right now and don't want to give them back to where we got them from, we have to change our clothes and into something else here so that they came back here" Levy explained.

"So... you'll be naked if you get wet and change back again while you're at the store?" Gray said, looking horrified. He would have to babysit these girls! He couldn't do that, not in between school and work! They need someone looking after them 24-fucking-7!

"Yes." Lucy answered, wondering what a store was. She kind of felt bad for him. It really was all her fault that they were all in this situation...

"Ready?" Gray asked, standing in front of the door. The girls nodded their heads and started following.

Lucy was amazed. So this is what a store was! It had so many things in it. Clothes, shoes, food, jewelry, make-up. Everything a mermaid needs to get settled in. Lucy noticed many humans looking oddly at them. Did they have something on them? If they did, surely Gray would tell them?

Lucy looked at the bundle of clothes in her arms. She particularly liked the pink and black combination. So her hands were full of black and all shades of pink skirts, shorts, shirts, and jeans. She looked over at her friends. Seems they had the same thought as Lucy did.

Between the four of them, there was easily over twenty items of clothing. And now...

Now came the part they all dreaded. Shoes.

"Just try them on and pick the ones that feel most comfortable" Gray said. The girls looked curiously at the selection. There was sandals, boots, tennis shoes, and even something with wheels. After many exasperating hours, they were all ready to go.

Lucy ended up deciding on a pair of pink sandals and black knee high boots. Levy got a pair of white sandals and a pair of orange tennis shoes. Erza got a pair of crimson sandals and also got black knee high boots. And Juvia got a pair of light blue sandals and dark blue boots.

"My money..." Gray cried. After he paid for all of the clothes and shoes, he had only fifteen of the hundred and thirty he started out with. He decided to take the girls back to his apartment and let them get changed. When they got out, Gray was shocked... they looked absolutely hot.

"Wow..." Gray trailed off.

Lucy was wearing a hot pink skirt and her plain black swim top with a hot pink flower on the right breast with a small black jacket barely zipped. Lucy also had on her new boots. Levy was wearing white Capri pants with an orange swim top on and a white over top, zipped to just under her breasts, she also had on her new white sandals.

Erza had on a black shorts and her crimson swim top with light red polka dots on it with a bright red over top that's wide open and she had on her boots. And Juvia...to Gray, she looked the hottest of them all. Juvia had on light blue skin tight skinny jeans and a dark blue swim top with nothing on over it. Over her jeans were her new dark blue boots.

These girls were sure going to be the talk of the town and their first day isn't even over yet.

Now back at the bar, Gray and the mermaids walked inside, each of the girls having more then a few guys turn heads. Gray had to admit he was really mad. For some reason he felt protective of these girls. Why should he feel protective of some fish? Even he doesn't get it.

Gray decided to ditch the girls. They could handle themselves, he decided. At least, he hoped they could...

Damn... any one of them could get water on themselves.

OK screw the idea of leaving them alone. Instead he would find one of his buddies and have them come over, not the other way around. He led the girls to a nearby table and sat down, the whole time trying to find one of the guys. Just please, don't let it be...

He spotted Natsu. And with Natsu was Lisanna, the girl who Lucy didn't like. Yeah, he paid attention.

"Gray!" Natsu shouted over the loud noise. Gray raised his had to let Natsu know that he heard him. Natsu turned to Lisanna, said something to her, and then they both started making their way to the table.

"Hey man what's u-" Natsu paused, staring at the four beauties. Their earlier attire was crap. But now... now they were smoking hot. Shocking himself, Natsu ended up staring at the blonde. She was just so beautiful. Those brown orbs that you could get lost in, her creamy porcelain white skin, her plump lips... for some reason, he wanted to kiss those lips. But why? He had just met her that day.

Lisanna noticed her boyfriend's stare and elbowed him in the side. This just gave her another reason to not like the blonde. It's not like she personally did anything wrong. It's just the simple fact that Natsu keeps on getting that look of want in his eyes whenever he looks at her. But too late, Lisanna was already his.

Natsu smiled sheepishly and kissed his girlfriends forehead as an apology. He would have to say a real sorry later though. He turned back around and noticed the girl's confused looks.

Why did he do that? It's so impolite, Lucy transmitted to Levy.

I have no idea, Lu-chan. Maybe it's something that humans do? Levy replied. Where they are from, you don't kiss in public. It's not good manners. Merfolk always wait until their alone to do such activities. Even hugging was an indoor activity only, unless your friends.

All of the girls looked at each other, still confused, and then looked back at Natsu and Lisanna. Both looking at the girls as if they were freaks, well, Lisanna more than Natsu. He just thought they were weird.

"So anyway," Gray said, cutting the tension. He would have to ask about that later, "What's up?" he asked Natsu. Natsu smirked and replied.

"Not much. Wendy gave me an earful when she found out that I didn't go home as soon as we came back."

That made sense, Wendy was always worried about her older brother. Even when she knew that Gray was with him. He never understood it himself, but he also doesn't have a younger sibling. Only older, and man were they asses to him.

"What about you?" Natsu asked back.

"Showed Lucy and her friends around. Being girls, the first thing they wanted to do was shopping, so they damn near cleaned me out, save the fifteen bucks in my pocket. Unless your Highness' care for anything to eat or drink?" Gray asked sarcastically, earning glares from Erza which made him flinch. How could she be so scary?

"Why yes," Erza stated, "Thank you for offering. We'll all take something, your pick" she said, grinning like a madman.

Oh how I loved payback. Erza transmitted, sharing a look with her friends and they all laughed lightly. Gray looked at them weirdly but they just shrugged it off.

"Damn fish" Gray muttered. The mermaids, thankfully, didn't hear him and he went to the bar to tell Mira, the barmaid- who was basically an older and more mature version of Lisanna, seeing as how their sisters and all- and told her his order.

"My Gray, who are those lovely ladies with you tonight" Mira asked innocently. Ha! Right. Mira and innocent don't really go together. For as long as Gray's known her, she's always meddled in other people's affair. Especially if it's love related.

"Lucy, my cousin, and her friends are visiting from the states" Gray told the barmaid.

"I didn't know you had family in the states" Mira said, surprised.

"Yeah. All of their parents moved from Sydney to Hawaii for work. Their biologists" Gray explained.

Wow! Maybe I can meet them later?" Mira asked. Gray nodded his head and turned to walk back to the table, but not without saying bye to Mira.

"That took a while" Natsu said. He and Lisanna were now sitting across from Lucy and the girls. The only chair being in front of Juvia, since Natsu took his seat, he sat down. He was met with an empty, disgusted glare from Juvia. Gray cringed, he didn't like it when people gave him those looks. Granted, he should be used to them. God knows Lyon and Ultear, his older brother and sister, give him looks like that all the time.

But when Juvia gave him that look... he just couldn't bear it.

Why is that?

Mira finally broke the awkward silence that engulfed the table. In her hand was a tray with different colored concoctions on it. Since Gray got the same thing for the girls, they all received a strawberry, blueberry, and banana smoothie. Mira handed Gray a blueberry snow cone- hey, even though it was almost night, it was still hot outside. And she handed Natsu and Lisanna their usual.

Since Natsu's eighteen, Mira bended the rules for him and started giving him alcohol, but only in secret. If people found out, they'd arrest her and close the bar down. That why, even though Gray's also eighteen, he doesn't make Mira take that risk for him. She handed Natsu a glass filled to nearly the brim with whiskey, no rocks, and handed Lisanna a berry smoothie.

"Thank you" Lucy said, her friends humming their thanks after her. Mira looked at them, shock over their clothes clearly written on her face, but recovered quickly. She smiled brightly at the girls.

"Hello. My name's Mirajane, but you can call me Mira. It's nice to meet a cousin of Gray's. And his childhood friends" Mira smiled. The girls couldn't help but smile back.

"It's nice to meet you to! My name's Lucy. And this is Levy, Erza, and Juvia" Lucy said, introducing her friends.

Mira smiled. She liked these girls, there was something about them that reminded her of him. No, it can't be possible, Mira decided. But... since they lived in the states they might-

NO! stop think that. They can't know anything, Mira thought, shacking her head a little.

"Is there anything wrong, Mira?" Levy asked. Mira shook her head was about to reply when a voice boomed out.

"Mira! Can you please get me a refill. I'm in desperate need of..." the unidentified person trailed off. She had long, wavy dark brown hair and deep purple eyes. The woman of age eighteen looked over at the girls with wide eyes.

Lucy, also looked at her with wide eyes, tears not much longer forming in them.

Lucy?

Cana...
