I've lost you: Chapter 3
A/N: Heh, look I kept up with my promise. Sorry, but this is not really edited.-Rach

"You've got to take this opportunity, Hunter. I'm serious, this- this could lead into something huge okay," his roommate starts depicting aliens and horses and pretty actresses, "Yeah? Imagine all these really cool and awesome things going on your resume. How about that?"
"Sounds suckish." Hunter says offhandedly as he tries to focus on taking down notes for his history class.
His roommate sucks in a breath and walks over to Hunter to yank his papers away. "What the hell?" Hunter snaps, trying to get his papers back.
"I don't get why you're bothering with these things Hunter! You're a great actor but all you want to do is go to school where you could already be making money!"
Hunter yanks his papers back just to spite him, "I have my reasons."
"Why do you want to stay here, huh? Is there someone you just can't bear to leave behind here, huh? What, a best friend?" his roommate practically sneers at him. His roommate inches closer to mock him further, "A boyfriend?"
"You shut the fuck up!" Hunter stands up to push his roommate away from him, "That's disgusting to imply that! What the hell is your problem? Why did you become like this?"
His roommate throws his hand up, "Fine, fine, I'm sorry. But I'm paid for a reason, Hunter. Your dad needs to know you're doing fine."
"Well, I'm practically a druggie so you never really did your job well."
"At least I'm trying to get your mind of whatever you're feeling right now. Okay, I'm sorry on what I said, but clean your act up. The audition is next week so you better decide if it's worth staying here, waiting for someone I still don't know who or just move on with your life."
Hunter nods solemnly but brushes away his roommate, "I'll think about it. Please leave."
The other boy leaves the room with a sigh and Hunter completely alone. What the hell is he doing with his life? Fuck. He looks towards the window and watches the leaves fall down, winter is nearing. He startles away from his thoughts when he hears someone rapping on his door.
"Just come in." Hunter leans on his paper work, facing the window. He can't bother to look at people right now.
"Hunter."
He drops his pencil.
"Hunter." Sebastian repeats his voice with a slight gloom.
Hunter turns around in dread as he looks in Sebastian's tired face. Suddenly he felt ashamed at the state of his room and the state of Sebastian. Could it be possible that Sebastian wanted to talk things out? Will he give time for Hunter to fix his act so they can get back together and just forget what their stupid argument was even about?
"Sebastian-"
"Not today, please," Sebastian sucks in a breath and wears a crumpled smile, "David's asking me if you're going to join our concert next Tuesday. We need another singer."
"Oh," hunter falters slightly but tries to bring up a smile. For Sebastian. "How about you? Aren't you a singer?"
"My throat hurts." Sebastian says quietly.
Hunter feels his throat constrict and he looks down knowing that the reason Sebastian's throat was sore was because he had been crying and screaming it raw into a pillow nights before when he thinks that Nick was asleep.
"Oh, I don't know. I might be having an audition that time-"
"It's okay, you don't need to explain." Sebastian nods and drums on the table near the door like he knew his response even before stepping into the room, "Just wanted to confirm."
Sebastian breaths in and moves to open a door before Hunter blurts out, "Sebastian!"
"Yes?" Sebastian turns somewhat awkwardly.
"How have you been?"
"Fine."
"Oh really? Cause like I-Uh, you don't look exactly fine."
"But I am," Sebastian insists, looking anywhere except Hunter, "But now I have to go so-"
"Please stay. Please."
Sebastian pauses a while to stare at Hunter. It's then when he realizes that Hunter could just merely be an ex-boyfriend if he allowed him to be. To be nothing else because they were nothing else before. They were just rivals, they weren't even friends when their whole messed up situation came to play. Shouldn't it be easy to just let him go and not make a big deal out of whatever they had?
"Don't. You made your choice okay, I don't have to stick up with it."
Hunter bites into his fist, "No you don't have to, but I want you to. I'm sorry okay, please, please."
"Damn you." Sebastian turns to rip the door so he could just run out and maybe hit his fist on a wall outside and pretend he didn't notice that among the mess in Hunter's room, their picture they took last year in the town fair still stood proud in its frame.
"I love you!" Hunter gasps.
"Don't say it!" Sebastian turns around, a foot already out the door, "Don't you say that to me when you know it means everything to me and nothing to you! Just stop."
This time Hunter lets Sebastian close the door behind him and he lets himself throw the papers off his desk and bury his face in his arms.
Sebastian bits angrily into his straw, trying to focus on finishing his vanilla milkshake when life wasn't so vanilla right now. Oh, the contradiction.
"Hey, you gonna order something else?"
Sebastian shakes his head, a little too vigorously then he intended "No, I'm fine."
"Well you have to if you want to stay here."
"I ordered your overpriced milkshake already, so shoo." The waiter looks slightly affronted but stops to grin slowly in recognition.
"Hey! You're Alex's brother! Sebastian right?"
Sebastian carefully removes his lips from the straw making sure not to bring a string of drool after him and looks up to meet the warm smile of his brother's best friend. Or was it still his best friend? Sebastian's brother doesn't really seem to have time for anything like a high school best friend anymore.
"Hey, Colin." Sebastian greets, even if he wasn't in the mood he could be not rude if he chooses to be.
Colin pauses a while and slips his notepad in his pocket before waving off a 5 minute motion.
"So how's your life going?"
"Super." Sebastian mutters and looks back at his drink.
"Not good then, I take it?" Sebastian sucks his cheeks in leans back from his chair.
"Could be better."
Colin slowly nods and looks at Sebastian kind of longer than he should have. Sebastian notices and looks away if awkwardness as Colin stops looking and turns away.
"Sorry," he laughs awkwardly, "you just look really different than the last time I saw you."
"No shit," Sebastian chuckles, "It's been five years."
Colin leans back on his chair in thought, "You want to go watch a movie or something?" he asks suddenly.
"Uh," Sebastian furrows his eyebrows at the weird behavior, "what?"
"You, know just hang out. Seems like you need it."
"I still have school."
"It won't take long," Colin assures, "I'll be off my shift in an hour. I'll pay if you want."
"Saying no to free food has always been my weak points," Sebastian finishes his drink, "as long as it's not some weird date."
"Nope," Colin assures and nods slowly, "not a date."
Sebastian stares at him suspiciously but he eventually nods. Whatever not involved with Hunter right now seems like the refreshment he needs.
A/N: Hiatus again? Ahh, not a lot of people seem that interested so till then. Oh, and I'm starting on a new Huntbastian story but it's kind of not light, it's dark and not really a light read. But I'm asking for an opinion, do you think it's better if I make it a one-shot or should I separate it to different chapters? Because I could do both. Anyway, review if you enjoyed this chapter! -Rach
