Friday Night Bites
I woke up from another restless night of sleep; scared with the vision of the violent attack at first I had thought I was having a normal dream for once, a perverted dream but still a dream. But after awhile it turned dark as the man bit viscously into the unknown woman's neck. Shaking my head I pushed away the thoughts of my vision and got out of bed stripping out of my pajamas I pulled on a purple halter-top and a short black skirt that ended in the middle of my thigh.
Brushing my teeth quickly I through my toothbrush into the cup and tore my brush through my hair as I walked quickly downstairs grabbing myself of coffee as I watched Elena also get ready last minute.
Suddenly a loud car horn erupted from outside and Elena and I walked to the front door to see a Bonnie there waving through the window. Gathering my bag I put on my low black heels and my jacket as I jogged to the car and got in.
"Morning." Bonnie smiled.
"Morning." I replied not as chirpy Elena though was practically bouncing in her seat as she told us about her new relationship with Stefan.
After a long discussion we arrived outside of their high school, Bonnie and I got out soon followed by Elena who seemed now a little down hearted.
"I'm not saying down date the guy, 'Lena, take it slow." Bonnie smiled gently.
"You were the one who said to go for it!" Elena laughed.
"Now I'm saying take it slow." Bonnie tried to sound happy through clenched teeth.
"Why the about face?" Elena asked Bonnie.
"It's not an about face." Bonnie shrugged "you're single for the first time in your entire high school career; it's the perfect time to play the field."
Elena laughed "oh, because I'm so that girl." Elena replied sarcastically "seriously, what are you hiding from me?" she looked at Bonnie.
"It's stupid." Bonnie shook her head.
Elena grabbed Bonnie making staring her in the eye, Gwen sighed knowing that Bonnie couldn't keep a secret from Elena, especially since Bonnie had made it pretty obvious that she was avoiding Elena's gaze.
"Spit it out" Elena said sternly.
Bonnie rolled her eyes "I accidentally touched Stefan, and I got a really bad feeling."
Elena gave her a confused look not really understanding what Bonnie had meant "is that it Bonnie?"
Bonnie went to walk away but Elena caught onto her arm, and pulled her back as I thought to myself how was Bonnie going to explain this? It was hard enough explaining it to Grams and she actually saw what Bonnie felt.
"It was bad, bad." Bonnie replied in a hushed voice.
"Is this the whole witch mo-jo thing again?" Elena joked sarcastically.
"We're just concerned, it's two friends expressing their concern for their best friend's new boy friend." I piped up allowing myself to enter the conversation.
Elena smiled "and I love you for it." she looked over a Bonnie "both of you, but I feel good, it's been a hard year and it was kinda starting to feel like things were getting back to normal again." she shrugged innocently "and you know what? Stefan is a big part of that."
As we walked towards the school waiting for the bell to ring until they were greeted by an unexpected visitor, he began to walk alongside them and smiled.
"Morning, Elena." He smiled kindly at her "Morning, Gwen." he smiled at her "Morning, Bonnie."
"Morning." Bonnie mumbled before stopping "I'm gotta go find Caroline, she's not answering her phone..." she trailed off "see you guys later." she walked off quickly with her head down.
"Bonnie, wait…" Elena called out but didn't bother to follow.
"Morning, Stefan." I smiled at him still a little hesitant with the fresh memories of the events of last night still haunting me.
"She doesn't like me very much." Stefan stated.
"She doesn't know you." Elena jumped in "she's my best friend. She's looking out for me. But when she does... she will love you."
"Here's what we're going to do." Elena started. "Are you free tonight?" she asked turning to him completely.
Stefan paused "Yes."
"Perfect." Elena smiled.
"Run Stefan she has her claws in you?" I chuckled earning a small smile from Stefan.
Elena ignored me "Dinner. My house. Eight o'clock." she informed him "You, me, Gwen, and Bonnie." she added " You two will spend some quality time and she'll get to see what a great guy you are. Mission accomplished."
"Am I the volunteer chef…?" I sighed.
Stefan suddenly turned around in what appeared to be a blur and caught the football tightly in his hands smirking towards the two guys.
Throwing the ball back to the two guys it hit Tyler with such a force it nearly knocked him right on his ass, earning a laugh from both Elena, and I and a gasp from everyone watching the incident happen.
"That throw was insane." Elena stated as they walked down a crowded hall way "I didn't know you played football."
"Used to." he corrected her "it was a long time ago."
"So why don't you try out for the team?" Elena asked walking to her locker, putting in the combination.
"Yeah." he dragged out the word "I don't think so." he shook his head gently.
"So you don't like football?" I asked in confusion.
"No, I love football." He corrected me "I think it's a great sport, but in this case I don't think football likes Me." this stated earned two looks of confusion from Elena and I "you saw Tyler over there, and we both know how Matt feels."
"They don't know you." Elena argued "To them your mysterious loner guy." she rolled her eyes "Wouldn't hurt to be part of, make some friends." She placed her leather coat inside.
"Says the girl who spends her alone time writing in a cemetery." Stefan countered.
"Hey." She laughed "C'mon. There's more to me than... gloomy graveyard girl." she made a nickname "there is a whole other Elena that you have yet to meet she was into everything, very busy, just asked Gwen."
"Yeah she is very busy after school" I smiled turning to Elena.
"Well I look forward to meeting her." Stefan smiled at the brunette "and when will that be?"
"Soon. She's working on it." Elena promised closing her locker just as the bell rang.
In History's class I sat next to Bonnie and watched over her shoulder as she scribbled the same three numbers in her note pad, eight, fourteen and twenty-two.
As I looked over the three numbers I felt myself daze off in the scene there was an ambulance, pest control, and police officers; but the main focus of the vision were the three numbers The building number was eight, one of the license plates on the car was fourteen, and the parking space was twenty-two.
"World War Two ended in..." Mr. Tanner started looking around the room for an answer bringing me back to reality I looked forward "Anyone got anything?" still no one answered " Miss Juan?" The Asian girl shrugged "1945." Mr. Tanner finished.
Elena turned to Stefan who had managed to get a seat just one row back opposite from her she started whispering to him, I rolled my eyes yeah Mr. tanner will defiantly not see that I thought.
"F.Y.I, our team sucks, they could use you." Elena argued.
"Pearl Harbour." Mr. Tanner stated.
"Can't." Stefan whispered back "I'm a loner."
"Miss Gilbert?" Mr. Tanner asked.
Just as I opened my mouth to give the answer Mr. Tanner stopped me "Miss. Elena Gilbert"
"Hmm?" Elena sighed looking confused.
"Pearl Harbour?" he re-asked.
"Erm..." Elena blanked.
"December 7th 1941." Stefan interrupted sensing Elenas distress.
"Thank you, Ms. Gilbert." Mr. Tanner put empathies on our name.
"Anytime." Stefan nodded.
"Very well." Mr. Tanner saw this as a challenge "Fall of the Berlin Wall."
"1989. I'm good with dates, sir." Stefan answered.
Pulling out my cell phone I discreetly traced it on Mr. Tanners face to record the reaction of him losing at a history off to a man that lived through most of it.
"Are you? How good? Keep it to the year. Civil Rights Act." Mr. Tanner smirked as if smelling victory.
"1964." Stefan didn't even hesitate.
"John F. Kennedy assassination."
"1963."
"Martin Luther King."
"'68."
"Lincoln."
"1865."
"Roe vs. Wade."
"1973."
"Brown vs. Board."
"1954."
"The battle of Gettysburg."
"1863."
"Korean war."
"1950 to 1953."
"Ha!" Mr. Tanner thought he'd caught Stefan out, with a smug smile "It ended in '52."
"Uh, actually, sir, it was '53." Stefan was stubborn.
"Look it up someone, quickly." Mr. Tanner ordered.
"It was 19…53." A guy from the other side of the room announced looking at it on his phone.
Elena giggled gently as her and Stefan walked out of the room after the lesson had finished, seeing the smile being whipped off Mr. Tanner's face had made her day.
"How did you know all that?" Elena asked astounded.
"Years and years of crossword puzzles." Stefan joked "It's a loner thing."
"Or years and years of living through it…" I thought with a smile.
Several long periods of classes later and Elena, Bonnie, and I were stretching on the grass for cheerleading. I did a cart wheel several back flips and right now I was sitting comfortably in a split.
"I can't be sad girl forever," Elena spoke up; "The only way to get things back to the way they were are to do things that were. Oh and you're coming to dinner tonight."
"I am?" Bonnie asked with a smile on her face.
"Yes you, me, Stefan, and Gwen," she said and Bonnie gave her a look the minute she said Stefan.
"You have to give him a chance," I exclaimed when I saw her expression.
"Tonight's no good," Bonnie said still giving her that there is no way I am going look.
"Have you seen Caroline I texted her like a hundred times," Bonnie said sneakily trying to change the subject.
"Don't change the subject Bonnie Bennett!" Elena scolded, "You are going to be there."
"Fine, I'll go," Bonnie exclaimed while I was doing a back bend.
"Good," I said looking at her.
"Seriously, where is Caroline? Gwen your both co- captains can't you start practice?" Asked Bonnie clearly frustrated.
"I can't" I sighed "She's full captain this practice like next practice I'm full captain" Going back into a split.
"I don't know." Elena shrugged "It's not like her."
"I'll try her again." I sighed grabbing my phone.
Sudden a loud burst of music came from behind me as they sat there on the grass; it gradually got louder and louder until a convertible pulled up onto the pitch itself.
"Uh..." Elena pointed to the car.
"Oh my God." Bonnie gasped
I hung up my phone and stood up with the rest of the squad to see a familiar face driving the car, I felt infuriated it's only been a couple of hours and he has another blood bag.
Caroline leaned over her seat and gave Damon a long, passionate kiss, making my blood boil, Damon must have compelled her.
"That must be the mystery guy from the Grill." Bonnie stated.
"That's not a mystery guy." I replied through clenched teeth "That's Damon Salvatore."
"Salvatore?" Bonnie repeated in a hushed voice "as in Stefan."
Caroline walked over cockily looking at me, she know that I knew him and must have still thought I liked him. The mere thought made me shiver in disgust.
"I got the other brother. Hope you don't mind." Caroline smiled at Elena and me, before turning to the squad. "Sorry I'm late, girls. I, uh, was busy. All right, let's start with the double pike herkey hurdler, what do you say?"
We got into formation, Bonnie and Elena on either side of me as Caroline called out the shots. "1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8."
Raising both our arms together over our heads, spreading them apart to jump in the air, our legs spreading into herkies, and then landing. Our fist together at our chest, pushing them out, our right going over our heads and spinning around to the other side, our bodies spread out at shoulder length hands in fists. Bringing our right arm down, elbow bending till it hits our sides then back out, then repeat, only with both hands, then raising our left leg spinning on our right we faced the front again. Out of the corner of my eye I see Elena clearly struggling. I catch Caroline's eye and make a quick gesture and her direction before continuing the cheer.
"And 5, 6, 7, 8. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Elena, sweetie, why don't you just observe today?" Caroline said to Elena before turning to us "Ok? Keep going! Ok. Do it again from the top. And 5, 6, 7, 8. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8."
We did that routine for an hour maybe more back to back I've never felt more tired.
After school I guiltily ran through peoples lawns as I headed to Grams house.
When I was firmly situated on the couch we began my lesson "Today Gwen we will be working on fire." Grams said as she stared intently at the candle as suddenly the wick lit.
"This power has control of the flames, embers, or any object with a temperature considerably higher. The manipulation of fire is one of the most used and basic in the use of magic." Grams lectured staring me in the eyes to make sure I was listening before continuing "However, it requires concentration, as loss of control of whoever uses this power can lead to mass destruction and death. Fire is associated with strong emotions such as passion, anger, rage."
I watched in awe as the tiny flame it produced grew quickly into a massive ball of fire, rising higher into the air as it expanded.
It suddenly vanished, and I heard Grams voices speak calmly and clearly. "You try ok I'm going to start some tea I'll be in the kitchen if you need any help."
Focusing on the small flame I concentrated as I wove a small tongue of fire around my fingers ignoring the small bit of heat as they touched the skin. I watched as it suddenly flickered and grew, and suddenly exploded into the form of a huge fiery dragon, soaring above them and glowing brighter and brighter.
"It feels like power," I said to myself in awe a small smile on my face.
The dragon began to grow, blazing like a sun in the night sky. It swooped in ever-expanding circles, coming in closer and closer to me on the couch, and I flinched at the heat. It was beautiful, and it was entrancing, and dangerous.
The dragon swooped low at me over them and burst into dozens of smaller fires, and they were surrounded by a tall ring of flame. I scrambled to my feet I was losing control over it and began to fear it.
"Gwen," Sheila said in a low voice, moving slowly towards me. "Stop it. Please."
Heat blazed in on all sides of me and the flames leapt higher I couldn't stop if I wanted to it was too big for me to even control completely.
My nose started to bleed as I tried to use my powers to stop the fire; but it wasn't me who stopped the fire in the end.
Blasts of cold water hit me head on causing the fire to abruptly stop leaving behind the singed wooden floors as the only proof that there ever a fire were ever there.
Groaning as I struggled to stand up "What hit me…"
"Water, a tone of water" Grams frowned down at me "You are now experiencing from excessive use of magic a nosebleed, a headache, and you fainted."
"Grams I'm sorry about the damage…" I gasped out as I final stood up and saw the singed wood. "Is there anything I can do to make it up to you?" I stumbled over my words feeling slightly dizzy.
"I know what you can do…" Grams started before yelling out "You can be more careful! If you had been thinking at all you would have thought to start out small and not jump to something you can't even control"
Grams seemed to hesitate for a minute "Grams I'm sorry" I whispered my hand reaching out to her
Grams pushed my hand away "You could have died" Grams croaked out at last "if you use to much magic you could have died! Do you understand me promise me you won't do that again that you won't just learn to run before you learn to walk!" Grams voice seemed to become slightly desperate as she continued.
"I promise…" I whispered stunned at the fact that I could have died today pulling grams into a hug allowing some of my tears to stream out onto Grams shirt "I promise…" I whispered again.
"I called Elena she's going to come pick you up I don't want you to walk home in this state" Grams said daring me to complain about this.
"Grams…" I started only to be interrupted by the sound of Elena's car horn outside.
"You better go your sister is waiting for you" Grams stated gathering the rest of my things from the table and shoving them into my purse.
"But…" I started.
"Go" she stated quickly.
"I'm all wet though" I blurted out looking down at my clothes that stuck to me like a second skin.
"Think of this as a punishment then" Grams just smiled as she said this with a barking laugh.
Sighing to the future embarrassment I grabbed my bag from Grams, and before she could escape pulled her into another hug purposely getting her more wet and bolted out the front door and into Elenas car.
After buckling my seatbelt I looked over at Elena who had a amused look plastered to her face "Just drive!" I snapped.
"What?" Elena said snapping out of her daze.
"Drive!" I snapped.
Letting out a giggle Elena started up her car and we began our drive home.
"You explain it. Last night, I'm watching Nine-O, a commercial comes on and I'm like, I bet it's that phone commercial. And sure enough, it's that guy and the girl with the bench, he flies to Paris and he flies back. They take a picture."
"That doesn't count. It's always on." I said
"Yeah, I mean, it's on a constant loop."
"Fine. Well how about this? Today I'm obsessed with numbers, three numbers. I keep seeing 8,14,22. How weird is that?"
"Maybe we should play the lottery." Elena smiled
"Have you talked to your Grams?" I asked as I pulled out my meatloaf from the oven.
"She's just going to say it's because I'm a witch. I don't want to be a witch. Do you want to be a witch?"
"I don't wanna be a witch." Elena replied
"I don't know. I think it would be pretty cool." I smiled watching Elena pour take out pasta from the grill into a fancy bowl.
"By the way, just putting it in a nice bowl isn't fooling anybody." She smiled
"I'm sorry ok at least I made my famous meat loaf yesterday." I called over my shoulder as I cut the meatloaf into even slices.
"Okay. Serving spoons. Where are the serving spoons?"
"Elena, we live here. You don't know?" I laughed and she shook her head before Bonnie answered
"Little drawer on your left."
Elena opened the drawer, and sure enough, there were the serving spoons
Staring at Bonnie I didn't say anything.
"Yeah, you've been in this kitchen like a thousand times."
"Yeah. That's it." Bonnie sighed
"I'll get it." Elena said as the doorbell rang, "Okay, he's here. Don't be nervous. Just be your normal, loving self." Elena said to Bonnie before bouncing away
"Birthday candles." She whispered
Bonnie opened the drawer and the candles were there
"Maybe we should go to Grams now." I suggested while holding her shoulders. I ushered her over to the table
We all sat at the dinner table quietly and soon it became quite awkward, well that was a bit of an understatement well lets just say you could cut through the tension with a knife. No one was willing to start the conversation and all you could hear was the loud clinking noise of the cutlery hitting the plates. Sending Elena a look I urged her to get some kind of conversation started.
"Did Tanner give you a hard time today?" Elena asked Stefan.
"Well he let me on the team, so…I must have done something right" Stefan replied.
"Bonnie, you should've seen Stefan today, Tyler threw a ball right at him and-"
"Yeah I heard" Bonnie cut her off.
Say hello to awkward silence.
"Why don't you tell Stefan about your family?" Elena said to Bonnie, once again attempting to get a conversation started up.
"Erm, divorced, no mom, live with my dad." Bonnie replied not really trying.
"An amazing Grandmother!" I piped out smiling at Bonnie.
"No….about the witches Bonnie's family has a lineage of witches. It's really cool." Elena said smiling at Stefan.
Bonnie scoffed. "Cool isn't the word I'd use."
"Well, it's certainly interesting. I'm not too versed, but I do know that there's a history of Celtic druids that migrated here in the 1800s." Stefan said kindly.
Bonnie looked interested. "My family came by the way of Salem." her resolve breaking.
"Really? Salem witches?" Stefan asked interested.
"Yeah." Bonnie replied.
"I would say that's pretty cool." Stefan said.
"Really? Why?" Bonnie asked interested.
"Salem witches are heroic examples of individualism and nonconformity." Stefan ended with a smile making Bonnie smile.
"Yeah, they are." Bonnie said full on smiling. Elena and I traded a smile.
The doorbell rang. Elena, Bonnie, and Stefan looked to me in confusion. "Is someone else joining?" Elena asked.
"I don't think so," I said, "I'll get it." Even though that's what I said, Elena followed me.
Opening the door, Caroline smiled at me holding my one true weakness in her hands. Cake. Widening my eyes in shock I realized that Damon was behind her, smirking that haughty, annoying smirk at me. "Surprise," Caroline said in her giddy voice.
"Bonnie said you were doing dinner, so we brought dessert."
"Hope you don't mind." The Ass spoke.
"What are you doing here?" Stefan snarled.
"Waiting for either Elena or Gwen to invite me in," Damon simply spoke.
"Oh, yeah," Elena said, "You can—"
"No, no, no," Stefan and I interrupted, making Elena and Bonnie gives us a look, "He can't, um . . . he can't stay. Can you, Damon?" Stefan continued.
"Get in here." Caroline demanded impatiently.
"We're just finishing up," Stefan said frantically.
You know what," Elena said, keeping that smile on her face, "It's fine. Just come on in."
In that moment, I froze horrified at what Elena had unleashed at our home as Damon mocked Stefan with a smirk and walked in the doorway, passing everyone.
"You have a beautiful home, Gwen." Damon complimented.
Elena smiled at him looking confused at the threatening looks I sent at Damon, "Thank you."
Retiring to the living room Caroline I quickly found myself forced to sit next to Damon on the love seat "I cannot believe Mr. Tanner put you on the team, Tyler must be seething." Caroline said as she laughed. "But good for you and go for it!"
"That's what I always tell him." Damon said, a hint of smugness in his tone again. "You have to engage. You can't just sit there and wait for life to come to you. You have to go get it."
Caroline nods. "Yeah, Elena wasn't so lucky today. It's only because you missed summer camp., God, I don't know how you're ever going to learn the routine."
"Gwen and I will work with her. She'll get it." Bonnie said
"I guess we can put her in the back." Caroline said her voice sort of drifting forgetting that I was also co-captain.
Damon looks over to me as he talked to Elena. "You know, you don't seem like the cheerleader type, Elena." he said.
I was about to speak, but Caroline beat me to it. "Oh, it's just 'cause her parents died. Yeah, I mean, she's just totally going through a blah phase. She used to be way more fun." When everyone gave Caroline an disbelieving looks, she added, "And I say that with complete sensitivity."
"I'm sorry, Gwen, Elena." He said, nodding his head towards Elena. "I know what it's like to lose both your parents. In fact, Stefan and I have watched almost every single person we've ever cared about die."
"We don't need to get into that right now, Damon." Stefan said sharply.
"Oh, you know what, you're right, Stef. I'm sorry. The last thing I wanted to do was bring her up." Damon said in mock apology.
"You know what? I think I'm gonna go do the dishes. You all keep talking." I say, stand up, and walk over to the kitchen my back rigid as I felt his eyes on my back.
Stacking the dirty dishes into a neat pile. I placed the remaining leftovers into the fridge turning on my heal I found myself jumping at the sudden appearance of one Damon Salvatore.
"One more" Damon says walking over to me with a glass in his hand.
"Oh, thank you." I gritted though my teeth. Reaching for the glass that Damon is handing her. He drops it but quickly catches it.
"Nice save." I said looking at Damon letting out a small laugh.
"I like you. You know how to laugh. And your sister makes Stefan smile, which is something I haven't seen in a very long time."
"Drop the act or do you want another head ache!" I snapped harshly frustrated in the sudden turn in Damons behavior.
"Of course not like for example how you do not want me to go out into that room and rip out your sisters throat so let's act friendly for now." His hand catching my chin and making me look at him dead in the eyes
"Earlier, did you mean... your sire?" I mumbled under my breath my skin beginning to desire his touch soft fingers as he traced my jaw line.
"Mm-hmm."
"How did she die?"
"In a fire. Tragic fire."
Swallowing back my nasty comments I actually began to feel a bit of sympathy to the idiot "What was she like?" I asked quietly slightly disappointed when he backed away from me.
"She was beautiful. A lot like you in that department. She was also very complicated and selfish and at times not very kind, but very sexy and seductive."
"So which one of you dated her first?"
" Nicely deduced. Ask Stefan. I'm sure his answer differs from mine. I'd also get your sister to quit cheerleading if I were you." Damon said.
"Why do you say that?" I asked Damon.
"Oh, I saw her at practice. She looked miserable."
I remained silent I had noticed it as well.
"Am I wrong?" Damon said smirking at my silence.
"I'm sorry. About Katherine. You lost her, too." I said to Damon and he looked honestly shocked.
Just as Damon seemed to say something Bonnie and Elena entered the kitchen "Hey. Need some help?" Bonnie asked us standing in the doorway.
"Sure, why not?" Damon says.
After the long hectic night I dragged myself up the stairs I got dresses in one of my father's sweaters and walked out from my closet. Grabbing a elastic from my dresser I pulled my hair into a loose ponytail where out of nowhere I felt strong arms embracing me on my waist. The person starts kissing her neck and his hands massage her hips. Her hands start traveling around until they reach the person's hair. When I turned around she sees that it was Damon behind her. He leaned in and kissed her again.
Waking up in bed. I was dreaming. What that dream meant? Why would I dream about a vampire? Falling back into the bed and fell back asleep not noticing Damon on the roof watching her.
I groaned as I woke up stretching out the kinks in my back I pulled my covers over my face, as I allowed myself to adjust to the demon called the sun. I pulled myself out of my bed and stretched my stiff muscles above my head, and grabbing my fluffy white towel and underwear off my valet dragging my feet to the bathroom. After a quick shower I dried myself off, and slipped on my underwear and bra, and looked through her closet, and pulled out my red cheerleading uniform. Running my brush through her hair and pulled it into a French twist.
Slipping on a pair of white running shoes. I made my way down to the kitchen; as I walked past Elena's room and quickly back tracked my steps slowly raising my fist I knocked on the door.
"Come in" Elena's voice muffled.
"Hey" I smiled opening the door and saw that she was only in a towel staring at her cheerleading uniform, "If you want to quit Elena you can."
"I…I don't know, this use be something that both of us and mum were in to but now everything has-"
"Changed?" I offered "its ok Elena to quit, don't do something you're not happy with and as co-captain I'll be the one who will explain this to Caroline."
Elena nodded "Thanks Gwen" smiling at me.
"No problem, hurry up I'm thinking of making up red velvet muffins" I grinned and turned on my heel shutting the door behind her.
As I bustled around the kitchen I put three dozen muffins in a large container grabbing one of the spare muffins I took a large bite of the warm pastry.
"Are you making out with your muffin?" Elena said startling me into reality and out of the world of red velvet.
"Bitch" I giggled throwing a muffin at Elena "so you're quitting-"
"Yeah you're right" Elena smiled taking a small bite of the muffin and glanced at the time "Come on we're going to be late."
"Huh? I thought the football match starts later? And now that you're not a cheerleader you don't have to come early." Pouring some coffee into my travel mug.
"It does but-"Elena trailed off with a faint blush on her cheeks
"Let me guess Stefan's going to be there" I grinned.
I sighed and looked around searching for Caroline before she saw Elena; but whenever she caught a glimpse of a familiar blond cheerleader my eyes would wonder over to Elena who was talking to Stefan and him giving her something
"Hmm, jewellery already" I muttered under my breath, jumping out of my skin when Caroline appeared in front of her.
"Did you know your sister quit?" the blond asked.
Rolling my eyes "I do." Not really caring as I watched my sisters flirt with a creature deadlier than a shark.
"Ergh" was Caroline's only response and stormed over to the new couple.
"Ah there he is" I muttered as I spotted Mr. Tanner the container of muffins had become a constant temptation and I needed to get rid of them right now was about to go after him but bumped into someone "Stefan?"
"Hey Gwen" he smiled "I just wanted to let you know that I-"
"Will you take care of her?" I cut him off.
"Yes" studying his face and saw complete sincerity in his eyes; he let out a relieved sigh when I stopped glaring at him.
"But know this Stefan if she gets hurt…" I trailed off and with a glare he winced as I gave him an aneurysm "…This will be least I will do to you."
"She won't get hurt" he gasped out nodding my head I went to walk pass him but he gently grasped me by her upper arm "Gwen I'm not trying to be offensive, but I think you should stay away from Damon" he warned me.
"Trust me Damon isn't a person I want to be in the company of" I chuckled, just then the whistle blew.
I shivered as I stood near the front of the crowd near my fellow cheerleaders doing small cheers to warm up in my small outfit.
"Hey" Elena grinned appearing beside me.
"Hey" I replied.
Seeing Tanner on stage, as he attempting to get the crowd to quiet down which they finally did.
"Let's be honest, in the past we let other teams come into our town and roll right over us-"
"Doubt it, our team just sucks" I scoffed causing Elena to snicker, as the crowd booed.
"But that is about to change-" the crowd cheered.
"I'm going to tell you right now that it has been a long time since I've seen a kid like this with hands like these" he was pointing to Stefan
"Tyler doesn't seem too happy with that" I told Elena who was busy staring at Stefan "Let's give it up to Stefan Salvatore" the crowd cheered again, I whistled loudly and spotted Tyler leaving, glancing around for Jeremy I swore when I saw Tyler heading straight for him.
"We're Timberwolves and we're hungry"
"Stay here" I muttered seeing Jeremy laughing with the other kids.
"Oh, what do you care?" Tyler said to Vicki and walk up to Jeremy. "Don't look so down. You can have her when I'm done." Tyler said to Jeremy provoking him. Jeremy sick of Tyler's attitudes strikes him. And once again the two begin their fight.
"Tyler, stop it! Tyler! Tyler, stop! Stop it! Stop, you're hurting him! Tyler! Tyler, stop! Tyler! Stop it! Tyler, stop!" Vicki was screamed at Tyler to stop beating up Jeremy. Stefan seeing that grabbed Tyler's wrist to stop him.
"Hey, he's down! Enough!" Stefan said once again at Tyler.
Tyler not liking being grabbed by Stefan punched him hard in the chest.
Jeremy seeing that Tyler was distracted by Stefan, grabbed a broken glass bottle and strikes once again at Tyler, who moved out of the way and then Jeremy cuts Stefan's hand instead "Jeremy, no!" Elena screamed.
"Are you okay?" Eva asked looking at his face.
"Tyler, knock it off! Stop!" Matt said trying to stop Tyler going after Jeremy again.
"What the hell, Jeremy? Put your head up, you're bleeding." Elena said softly to her brother.
"I'm fine!" Jeremy screamed at his sisters.
"Yeah, you smell fine." Elena told him feeling the smell of the alcohol he drunken.
"Just stop, ok?" Jeremy asked to them and walked away from them.
"Come on, man. Come on." Matt said pushing Tyler.
"Oh, my God, your hand." Elena sees Stefan bleeding and went to grab Stefan's hand, while Stefan closed his palm and putted it quickly behind his back.
"No, no, no, it's fine." Stefan said to Elena.
"Is it deep? How bad is it? Come on!" Elena asked Stefan still trying to convince him to let her see the wound. When she finally grabs his hand and opens his palm she that don't exist a scar on his palm.
"But... I saw it, it was..." Elena was left without words to respond to that.
"He missed. It's not my blood." Stefan said. "See? I'm fine." Stefan shows her his hand.
"No, no, no. I... I saw it. The glass cut your hand. It was..." Elena didn't know what to say. She was worried and in the end Stefan wasn't hurt.
"It's ok. I'm ok. It's almost kick-off time, all right? So, um, I'll, uh, I'll see you after the game." Stefan said walking away. He was worried that Elena someday would discover his secret, about being a vampire.
"But I saw it." She said, her face filled with confusion. "I have to go find Bonnie."
I nodded at her. "Can I have the keys to the car?" I asked her. "I left my bag in there." She nodded and threw them at me. "Thanks." Frowning to myself as I walked towards the car park and opened the trunk. Elena can't find out. I found my bag and put it on the floor, I closed the trunk and turned around only to see the man who had starred in my dream last night. I let out a gasp and glared at him. "What are you doing here?"
He looked around. "I'm hiding from Caroline." He whispered. I raised my brows.
"And why is that?"
"She talks more than I can listen." He told me.
"That's Caroline." I replied, I tried to step past him, but he moved with me. I let out a sigh of frustration, crossed my arms and looked up at him.
"She's awfully young."
"A lot younger." I replied coolly.
He chuckled slightly. "I don't see it going anywhere in the bigger picture," He smirked a little. "She would drive me crazy."
"Then stop using her as your human blood bag." I snarled.
He took a step forward whilst I took a step back, but I bumped into the back of my car. "I'm sorry if I make you uncomfortable." He placed one hand behind me on the car, so I was trapped one side of him. "It's not my intention." He breathed out, leaning his face closer to mine.
"Yes it is."
His smirk fell back in place. "You're right" He said simply. "I do have other intentions, but so do you." He leaned in even further which increased the rate in which my heart was bumping against my chest. It was so loud to me that I wondered if he could hear it.
"Really?"
"I see it, you want me."
I tried to remain still, I knew he wanted a reaction out of me and let me tell you, he isn't getting one. "Excuse me?"
"I get to you, you find yourself drawn to me, you think about me when you don't want to think about me, I bet you've even dreamed about me." Ok that caused a reaction, my eyes widened despite how hard I tried not to let them. Was he crazy! "And right now." He leaned down even further, his pupils enlarging and stared right into mine. "You want to kiss me." He said sternly. I couldn't move. His eyes drifted down to my lips, he smirked and moved his body closer to mine . Then he moved his lips to mine, he was an inch away when I finally mustered up the courage to shove him away with my magic.
Damon flew back through the air and slammed into a nearby car causing its alarms to blare.
"And you need to remember one thing I'm a witch! You're compulsion won't work on me." I snarled bringing him to his knees in pain.
"I guess I could just seduce you the old fashioned way….or I could just eat your sister." I stopped in my tracks, I couldn't let that happen.
"Leave my family alone. Or I will drive a stake through your heart." I called over my shoulder walking briskly back to the game.
Storming towards the locker room not even bothering to knock as the team was preparing themselves for the game. The few newer players either blushed not used to be caught with no pants on but the older players didn't bother to cover up used to me storming in to talk to Tanner or one of the guys who I tutored.
Glancing around the locker room my eyes locked onto Tyler and Matt.
"Tanner's M.I.A. I think he had a little bit too much beer." Tyler says to his Matt not noticing me beside him.
"Don't talk to me right now, all right? I'm pissed at you." Matt snarled to Tyler.
"What's your problem?" Tyler asks surprised with his friend attitude towards him.
"What's my... You're my problem, all right? You're a bully. A freakin' 12-year-old bully, man. And I'm sick of it. I mean, what was that about tonight? What's beating up the new guy going to prove? Or screwing with my sister or pummeling my girlfriend's kid brother." Matt explodes finally at his friend.
"Girlfriend? Look, I don't know how to tell you this, but she dumped your ass." Tyler sneered.
Matt lashing out grabbed onto Tyler's jersey and slammed into the locker. "Are you for real?! You want to hit me? I'm on your team." Tyler says that to Matt.
"This was over the line. Even for you." Matt says turning to leave finally noticing me.
Glaring towards the two idiots. "Are you two done your little spat are am I going to have to treat you like the children your behaving like and make sure you don't play tonight!" I snarled.
The two looked at me in shock as I continued "Matt come with me…we need to find Tanner!" Turning on my heel I approached the exit Matt quickly on my heels.
The second the doors closed behind us the smell of blood evaded my senses and I turned to stare in horror of the dead body of Mr. Tanner.
When Matt saw the body he leaped into action as he called out "Somebody help!" as he ran back into the building leaving me alone with the corpse.
Before the police arrived I noticed something that I knew would shock as I stared at the license plate "BLDG 8", the immatricualtion's car is "FHT 14" and on the ground, the number 22. The three numbers 8-14-22 Bonnie's three magical numbers.
After I gave my statement to the police I hurried over to the car.
I watched as Stefan help Elena into her jacket as she vented to him "What kind of animal could be doing all this? Why would it come out of the woods and attack someone in the middle of town?" Turning herself towards Stefan.
"I don't know. I don't know." Stefan said softly stoking Elenas face.
Catching his hand Elena stared down to what I knew was her biggest mystery "I was so sure that you cut your hand. I saw it."
"I'm fine. I'm fine, ok? We're fine. That's what matters." Stefan grabbing both of Elenas hands pulling her into an embrace.
Staring into Stefan's eyes I whispered the name of Tanners murder "Damon…" Stefan nodded slightly.
Laying in bed asleep Damon once again visits my room as he stroked my face softly disappearing as I woke up confused at the slight pretense I had felt turning off my light I went back to sleep.
