Part B
CHAPTER ONE
Mother always warned me about how bad men and expatriates will one day take me away if I don't abide by her code of conduct. And he did.
(*)
It was love at first sight between them. Everything seemed to disappear as she gazed into his intense yet curious eyes. The scent fresh baked goods, the sounds of the bazaar, and the feel of the air all melded together into one big ball of haze. They didn't know it at first, too young to even grasp the meaning of loving another besides, of course, momma.
The girl's mother pulled on her hand dragging her away from the scene mumbling about expatriates and reciting her rules, the rules of being a lady. Rules she must always abide by unless she wants the expatriates to take her away. She never understood why. Never one to keep quiet, the girl voiced her confusion.
"The bad are attracted to bad." It was a curt answer.
She was still confused. Weren't opposites supposed to attract and not likes?
"Because that's what they do."
She was unsatisfied with her mother's answer. This isn't what she was taught, so why do bad only attract other bads.
"Oh hush child!" her mother snapped. "You are lucky to have such a pretty face otherwise no man would wed you. One day your curiosity will put you in harm's way."
Her mother's answers always left her unsatisfied and craving for something more than a one sentence answer. But nonetheless she kept quiet and marched onwards. Mother was always right, right? Nah! Deep down she knew mother wasn't always right, so she turned her head around to look back at the boy with the intense golden eyes and grinned at him when she saw he was still looking at her.
He smiled back and they both silently promised to one day play with each other.

Every other week turned into every other day and soon they met every day. From the time they finished their chores until sunset, sometimes until the first stars came out, were spent with each other. Everybody in town knew, including her mother. Oh how she hated them together, the wealthy merchant's daughter with the... the expatriate. It was such a bitter term. And as the years went on the definition lost its bitter edge and all was left is an empty shell of a word. Unused and forgotten.
Soon Sinbad was almost fifteen and she had just turned fourteen. Sinbad was maturing into a strapping young man but not as fast as she was turning into a woman. She's taller than him by about an inch and a half, still growing, and proud of that fact. It is not noticed by her and especially noticed by Sinbad, her breasts were still developing too. Sometimes he would watch the rise and fall of the swell of her breasts as they would lie on the roofs to take afternoon naps in the sun. He wouldn't really sleep, always distracted by thoughts of this and that.
Though her body was changing she is still a child at heart, full of wonder and curiosity. And always, always getting into trouble. Whenever she was in trouble, whether it was caught doing some petty theft or drowning, he was always there to save her. No matter how many times he told her to be careful.
"But Sinbad will always come to help me." her excuse every time.
"What if I can't?" his counter argument.
"You haven't failed yet!" She grinned megawatts and he knew there was nothing he could do to change her mentality. But he didn't mind. For her he would do anything.
