Aries reluctantly pushed herself up into a sitting position, rubbing her eyes tiredly as the sun's first rays filtered in through the roof of the cavern. It was little after dawn, and the birds were waking up too, by the sounds of things. Even the birds sounded different in this land… It was unusual to her, to be so far from home, and she found it unnerving. As much as she hated it, she, like other demons, shared similar instincts to those that she took the demon form of, her form being a sheep, or a ewe to be precise. Because of this, she often felt the urge to stay with the 'flock', her family members and other close relations. Now they were gone, and she was in a completely different land, leaving herself feeling vulnerable, an easy picking for those higher up.

Although, as she was a daiyoukai, unlike the mindless lower class youkai, she did not live like an animal and did not depend solely on those instincts, She had more control over her emotions. There were other bonuses too, such as a much longer lifespan and the ability to morph into a larger animalistic form, although she preferred not to transform as it wasted unnecessary energy. That aside, she resumed her search from the previous night to find an exit.

If she had decided, perchance, to take on her larger form, she would have been able to easily scale the walls of the cliffs in seconds, but she would rather not have taken the chances of being seen, as there were clearly residents in the local area, and there was no telling how much more populated it was up on the land above.

Aries' POV

After searching for the next hour for any small cracks, crevices or indents in the sheer cliff face that I could use to climb up and finding next to none, I rocked back on my heals and scowled softly. 'Looks like I'm going to have to talk to one of the locals', I thought, annoyance seeping into my mind, 'Hope they don't lock me up or try to kill me or something…'

I quickened my pace as I made my way over to the floating platforms, the only form of building down by the lakeside. I had wasted far too much time down by this oversized pond, pretty as it may be. I needed to get out of this damned crater, I was beginning to feel trapped and it was a sensation I was far from comfortable with.

As I stepped onto the first of the floating raft like structures, I heard the flapping of wings and turned to see a small, colourful bird hovering above a patch of long reed like grass.

"What are you staring at?" It squawked irritably, taking me by slight surprise.

"You can talk?" I asked, curiosity overriding my other emotions. I had never seen a bird speak, aside from those with youkai blood, and even then it was rare to find one that did anything other than squawk. It didn't look much like a demon either. Maybe all animals in this land spoke?

"Of course I can! You just heard me, didn't you? Stupid humans, I won't talk anymore to the likes of you!"

I ignored its rudeness, turning and leaving without another word. I didn't bother to correct the bird that I wasn't human, if it believed I was, then there was a higher chance that others would too. That fact would benefit me greatly for the time being, It was not that I could not hold my own against them, in fact, I could more than easily defeat them without a second thought. It would be easier though, to have one less thing to worry about. That and the fact that there could be magic wielders and those with purification powers in this land. They would be quite a hassle if they were pitted against me.

The brightly coloured building was open, seeming to have only one, empty room inside. A short man with bulging eyes and a face painted with make-up (which looked absolutely ridiculous might I add, especially the fact that it was on a man) stood in front of the building, next to a small contraption of sorts with a handle to wind it on the side.

"Welcome to Fyer and Falbi's Watertop Land of Fantastication! Are you looking for a ride up top?" the newly dubbed Fyer (or so I assumed, it could have been Falbi) asked.

"How much would it be to go up?" I asked, silently wondering what the currency was in this country and how I could obtain some.

"Normally it would be 10 Rupees, But I'll let you go up free of charge this time. It's not often you see a new face." He said with a wink.

I smiled gratefully, I wasn't one usually to show so many emotions but I was thankful for the fact that I didn't have to scurry around to try and find someplace to earn money, or rupees as Fyer had said the currency was here.

"Just step in there," He indicated to the empty room with his hand, "I'll just get it working."

I cautiously stepped inside the room, and jerked back in surprise as the door slammed shut. I pushed down the rising fear of being trapped and shut my mouth, waiting to see what happened next. The cabin rotated slightly, and before I even knew what was happening, I was being launched into the air, towards the building on the top of the cliff. I let out a shrill scream as I shot through the air.
