Chapter Two: Never Underestimate the Six Year Old….
~With Chelsea~
Chelsea knelt down next to Honey when the house suddenly placed her room, and by the sounds of it all bedrooms, under lockdown. A few minutes later she heard the unmistakable sound of a gunshot ringing through the air. A scream escaped her even as the puppies went ballistic, barking madly. Swallowing hard, she picked up the cordless house phone that she had nicked on her way to her room. She wasn't dumb…and she had several numbers memorized…including nine-one-one. But first… Stacie needed to know to stay clear of the house…
~With Stacie~
Stacie planted her foot firmly on the ground, stopping her skateboard from its forward movement. Courtney glanced back at her, knowing that she was just calling to check in with her parents. Stacie pulled out her phone, and immediately jumped in surprise when it started ringing. A frown crossed her face upon seeing that it was labeled as Home. Shaking her head, she answered it. "Hello?" Stacie felt her face pale as the jumbled, frantic words reached her ears. "Chelsea! Slow down… are you sure?" Silence, even as Courtney felt worry fill her. What was going on that had Fearless Stacie…well, afraid? "Ok… have you called the police?"
Courtney couldn't help it. "Police!? Stacie what is going on at your house?"
Stacie glared at her, lifting a finger up to signal her to be quite. "Ok…that's good. Just stay put. Don't tell the house to remove the lockdown…no matter what. Understood?" A brief pause, now Courtney was really worried. Why was the house on lockdown? "I will see you later… don't worry. I'm sure Courtney's parents won't mind if I join them for lunch." She then hung up, worry in her eyes. "I'm really sorry Courtney…but apparently two guys with guns are holding my parents at gunpoint and Chelsea is hiding in her room. I need to call Barbie."
"You do that. Do the police know?" Courtney wondered if she should be concerned that someone had the CEO of the Rawlins Incorporated at gunpoint. Then again, how did they get past all of the security measures? Margaret Roberts used her own products, which means a smart home and the best security system in the whole world. It didn't make sense that someone would be able to get to her.
"Chelsea's calling them as we speak." Stacie dialed in her eldest sister's number, trusting that she would know how to keep Chelsea calm once everything was said and done.
~Back with Chelsea~
Chelsea stared at the phone in her hand, wondering if she was hearing the lady on the other side correctly. "I'm telling the truth! I have an emergency! I need the police at my house."
"Sweetie… we are very busy folks here and we can't help you with your homework."
"Two strange men are holding my parents at gunpoint! And my mom is Margaret Roberts…CEO of Rawlins Incorporated… so I need the police here now!"
"What!? I am dispatching a squad car to get there right away sweetie."
Chelsea wanted to roll her eyes. And probably would have if a second gunshot suddenly tore through the air, followed by at least six others. A scream escaped her as she grabbed her favorite teddy bear, clutching Dr. Wiggles to her chest tightly. "Are you alright?"
Chelsea took a few deep breaths to calm herself, before speaking into the phone. "Yes…but I'm not sure about Mommy and Daddy. Can you tell the police to hurry?"
"Of course sweetie."
The phone made the noise that indicated that the other person had hung up on her. Hoping that everything would just be fine, she reached over and petted Honey. A loud bang made her jump, her heart leaping to her throat out of fear.
An angry shout, that was definitely not her parents voices! yelled at her through the metal slab that was blocking her door from opening. "Open the door little girl!"
Chelsea didn't say anything, curling into a tight circle instead of answering the rather rude request. "They're just a bunch of meanies. I bet their mommies and daddies don't know what they are doing and would highly discourage this." She whispered to her furry companions.
"Princess Chelsea? Will you please open the door for us?" It was the same voice as the first time, though it sounded more strained.
Chelsea frowned, confused by what he called her. "I'm not a princess. I'm just Chelsea Roberts." She didn't speak loud enough to let the men hear what she said, just the puppies in the room with her.
DJ, Rookie, Taffy, and Honey glanced at each other, silently communicating. If these bad men find a way into the room in lockdown…then they will try to stop them from harming their young friend.
~With Barbie~
Barbie had barely slipped her phone back into her pocket after talking to Stacie, before she started to run…run fast in the direction of her home. "Hold on Chelsea…I'm coming."
~With Four Casual Dressed Men~
"Something seems wrong here… are you sure that this is where the prince been living?" A man wearing a pair of ripped jeans and a simple brown t-shirt that looked too tight against his bulging biceps.
One of his companions, a skinny fellow with large, nerdy glasses and was wearing tan slacks and a button down blue shirt spoke up his voice low. "Yeah… want me to call in the boss?"
"No. He'll just tell the king. Come on. We're not the best men for the job for no rea…" Before he could finish his sentence, a series of loud gunshots erupted from the quaint little home. The four men burst out running, tearing into the house even as they pulled out slender pistols.
Looks like they had a job to do….
~Upstairs with Chelsea~
She jumped when the men tried to shoot their way into the room. Hugging Dr. Wiggles closer against her chest, she backed away to the far wall, where her window would be if there wasn't a metal slab covering it. Pressing her back against it, she stared mortified at the metal slab where her door was at. "Come on police… hurry."
As if they heard her, there was a blast of gunfire, only this time it wasn't coming from the men. At she didn't think it came from them. It wasn't hitting metal for sure. After awhile, the shooting calmed down. Chelsea bit her bottom lip, waiting for someone to try and talk to her through the door…only no one did this time.
~With the men~
"Guys. Look." A fellow that was medium built and wearing a denim jacket pointed to something on the wall.
A groan escaped the other three as they turned their attention away from the already dead prince and some lady, to the family portrait hanging on the wall. It showed their prince with the lady and four girls, each one holding a puppy. "I think that Prince George is a family man nowadays."
"Great…we need to fall back and talk to the boss and king about this development." The fourth member of the group commented as he shoved his pistol back into its hiding spot.
The others nodded in agreement and quickly left the house. They had barely disappeared around the corner when the police car showed up, sirens wailing. The two officers got out and walked into the house, their hands gently placed on their guns.
A/N: Done! So, um, yeah. Chelsea managed to get a hold of the police…and Stacie since she knew Stacie was expected to be home for lunch. Smart little girl there. And the bad guys are kinda…their not dead. Just disarmed and injured. I don't like killing characters off and the only reason why I don't feel remorse or guilt over making them orphans was cause it needed to happen.
