Chapter 3: Explanations
So I'm currently on holiday I decide to write the next chapter to this story when I had free time. I'm so sorry I haven't updated The Future King & The Last Dragon-Lord, I've been having a hard time lately with our family dog being put down, because it was sick and they didn't think she would last because of her being 16 and me and my sister contracted a bug off of our little cousin which made me throw up for majority of the day so yeah, I hope you guys understand and I'll try to update as much as possible.

"I quite agree."
The group turned around to see Severus Snape and Minerva McGonagall standing behind them.
Oh great.
Romeo looked up at his father nervously knowing that he was not a big fan of Juliet and her father though, not that it was her fault. Professor Snape was resentful because James Potter had saved his life from a werewolf in their last year of Hogwarts (the werewolf being professor Remus Lupin) and treated his daughter as if she was nothing because of this. However, she had inherited her mum's talent at potions, which just annoyed the Slytherin Head of House because although, he was good friends with Lily Potter (nee Evans) he still saw his son's friend as a copy of her father, but that was beside the point.
Just as the young snake, had figured out what to say to his father, Draco had jumped in before he had chance to explain.
"Basically, Professor, the problem is that Romeo has asked Juliet Potter to the Yule Ball, without any thought to his reputation or that of Slytherin House and he did not think of the consequences." He explained smugly. "I mean shouldn't he wait and ask a Slytherin girl or at least a beauty from Beauxbaton School, you know someone worthy of the name, Snape and the title Slytherin before making the decision?"
Juliet stood there fuming, and it took all her self-control not to punch the ferret in the face, it didn't help that Snape seemed to be silently agreeing with him. She stood next Romeo hoping that he wouldn't change his mind about helping her learn to dance because if, so then she would be the laughing stock of the school but, the main thing she was worried about was losing her best friend.
"I don't see what business it is of yours Mr Malfoy." Professor McGonagall said sharply. "After all if Mr Snape and Miss Potter wish to go to the ball together then that's their decision also, Miss Potter is a lovely girl that would any young man would have the pleasure of going to the ball with."
There was silence for several minutes before Professor Snape said, "Maybe we should take this up with the headmaster after everyone except Mr Snape and Miss Potter are returned to their common rooms." To the shock of both the students involved and Professor McGonagall who stood next to the Head Snake outraged.
"I think they can find their own way back, Professor," Romeo said unbelieving that his father would go so far as to get the headmaster involved. He sweared when he got back to the common room, he was going to punch Malfoy so hard that he would have a black eye for a month.
"Fine." Snape said simply, hoping he could convince his son that this was a bad move, and that he could do better, like Draco said, there were definitely far more beautiful, girls in the school than, plain, ordinary Juliet Potter, despite what McGonagall said, besides she was baised towards the girl. His son's 'friendship' with the girl, would be dangerous when the Dark Lord returns as the girl and her parents would be the first targets, Romeo would be have to pick a side in a war and wisely.
With that the group made their way towards the entrance hall, with Romeo and Juliet in the middle of the group, with the Slytherins in the front and the Gryffindors trailing behind.
"This is absolutely ridiculous, I mean I know my father does not like you, but this is insane, all we're doing is going to a dance together it's not like you and I are running off to the forest to battle a giant spider again." Romeo said annoyed with his father. "I promise you, Juliet there is nothing that my father or anyone else can say or do to prevent me from taking you to this ball."
Juliet smiled sadly. "Are you absolutely sure, you want to go to the Yule Ball with me? I mean, teaching me to dance is one thing but, there are plenty of other girls who, far better looking and they are probably better dancers than me, who you could ask?" She said all of this while looking at the ground as they walked, not wanting to meet his eyes, not wanting to see the regret.
As they reached the entrance hall he pulled her into a hug, "Sure there might be other girls out there, who I could ask." Juliet felt her heart stop at those words, okay, this is it he's going to say he made a mistake asking me and he's going to ask someone far more beautiful than me, like Fleur Delacour or some nameless Slytherin girl. Then, she began to pull away from his arms when, he stopped her.
"It's okay, I understand." Juliet said looking anywhere but him, as she moved from his arms and began walking ahead but, she didn't get very far before he grabbed her hand spun her around to face him.
"Wait, you didn't let me finish." Romeo said while, keeping his sapphire eyes connected to Juliet's emerald ones. "Sure there are plenty of girls out there but, I'd rather go to the Ball with my amazing, spunky, gorgeous best friend and have a great time rather than go with some plain, boring, random girl who, will just moan and criticise everything about the night and ruin it, okay?"
Juliet couldn't help but smile back at him feeling reassured that he wasn't going to leave her to go to the Ball alone. "Okay." (1)
After that they made their way towards Dumbledore's office not knowing that their Heads of Houses (or in Romeo's case his father) had watched the entire conversation, while, one was unhappy with it the other was over – joyed that the pair were ignoring everyone else's opinion and going together, and maybe just maybe, it would develop into something more than just friendship.

When, they reached the statue that led to the Headmaster's office, Professor McGonagall spoke the password, "Sherbet Lemon," and the quartet quickly made their way up the long staircase towards the door with the brass – knocker, which the lioness knocked softly.
"Enter." Professor Dumbledore said while, sitting at his desk reading a book. "Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape what can I do for you? Ah Miss Potter and Mr Snape as well, pleasure as always. "
Everytime you entered the Headmaster's office, you can't help but be amazed by the little gizmos whirling and buzzing on the shelves, or by the portraits of previous headmasters and mistresses hanging on the walls, who were pretending to be asleep in order to catch the latest gossip, honestly at times the portraits were worst then the ghosts at times, finally the great phoenix, Fawkes sitting on his perch in all his crimson glory.
"I'm sorry to disturb you Headmaster, but, Professor Snape felt this was a matter to bring to your attention." Professor McGonagall said sharply still believing that the younger man was being an idiot.
Professor Dumbledore nodded his head. "Well please, have a seat. Would any of you like a Lemon drop, I just got a new bag given to me by Remus Lupin, great man he always seems to know when I run out."
While, the two adults declined, the two students accepted one each. "Maybe it's best if Mr Snape and Miss Potter waited outside, Headmaster." The Head of Slytherin said, thinking it would be easier to argue his case if his son and the Potter girl were not present.
Dumbledore raised an eyebrow at him, "Very well, Romeo, Juliet if you would excuse us for a few minutes, please."
"Of course, Professor." Juliet said as she wrapped her hand around her friends wrist as the pair got up to leave, while feeling Professor Snape's eyes burning into her back.
Once the door was shut behind them, the Heads each took a seat. "What seems to the problem that concerns Romeo Snape and Juliet Potter?" Dumbledore said with his blue eyes twinkling.
"The problem, Albus is that Severus does not wish for his son to go to the Yule Ball with Juliet Potter. He believes that he should go with someone from his own house or from one of the other schools, instead of Miss Potter who, he is close friends. Ever since the pair came to Hogwarts they have defied the odds against their friendship and by that, they have achieved a united that no Professor could have for seen." The lioness said protective of her own cub.
"It's much more than that Minerva." Professor Snape sneered, "Miss Potter is a bad influence on my son, just like her trouble-making father and his no–good friends and I feel as his father that Romeo should go with another student, maybe one of the young ladies from Beauxbaton's school, rather Miss Potter who, will just embarrass himself, me and his house, that's what I'm concern about."
Dumbledore looked at the young man in amusement. "I think you're missing the point, Severus."
"And what point is that, Headmaster?" Severus asked knowing that the older man would something ridiculous about the power of love and friendship.
"The point is Severus that both Romeo and Juliet are great kids and excellent students and I don't quite understand why you don't agree with their friendship when you, yourself were and still are friends with Lily Potter nee Evans who, was also a Gryffindor." Albus said knowing that the problem was not with Lily but, James though the man had grown up in his final year at Hogwarts.
Minerva sighed. "You can't keep blaming, Juliet for the mistakes James made as a teenager, Severus. She's a lovely young lady if you give her a chance … you didn't even ask Romeo why he asked her in the first place instead, you jumped to support Mr Malfoy who, all three of us know dislikes Miss Potter."
There was silence for several minutes in which Professor Snape would not admit that Professor McGonagall was write which, made the lioness to smile with her victory.
"Now that that's settled why don't the pair of you go wait outside while I speak to Miss Potter and Mr Snape for a few minutes and then, they can be escorted back to their common rooms." Professor Dumbledore said smiling as Professor Snape made his way towards the door.
The two students jumped as the office door was flung open and they were faced with a glaring face of the potions master though the glare was only directed at the Gryffindor student with her hand around her friend's wrist that she caught when, the door opened.
"You may have Dumbledore and McGonagall on your side Potter," Professor Snape sneered. "But, make no mistake that I will not allow this to continue, your days of friendship and corrupting my son are limited."
Romeo had had enough. "You may be my Father but you, cannot treat my friend like this. Juliet has done nothing to you and I'm done with you being horrible to everyone who isn't a Slytherin! So from now on I am staying in the Slytherin Dorms until you, professor learn that, I may be your son but you cannot control my life." And with that the young Slytherin stormed past his father and into the Headmaster's office.
