03:... Is Wait
Sawada Tsunayoshi was innocently sitting in her favorite spot, under the shade of a well placed cypress tree when-
"Is this what you do all day?"
...
"H-HIEEEEEEE!?"
...
Reborn cupped his ears as her strident, high-pitched scream resounded through the air, and multiple other patients and nurses and doctors alike turned to stare at her. Tsuna blushed a deep crimson red, her ears the same color as she face, and she looked like she was about to blow steam out of her head.
She turned to give the perpirtraitor a piece of her mind, but-
She saw the green creature resting on Reborn's shoulder.
She opened her mouth to scream again, but was covered by an irritated-looking Reborn as she had just started to suck in air to shriek.
"Shut up, would you? If I hear that scream of yours more than once, my ears might bleed."
Tsuna grit her teeth, but gave a strained smiled as Reborn slowly took his hand off her mouth. It was as if he thought she was going to scream as soon as he release her.
Don't scream Tsuna, don't do it, don't give him the satisfaction, don't you dare do it you stupid mouth of mine-!
Tsuna breathed in and out calmly.
...
Only to turn bright red again as she saw the latter's amused smirk.
...
In out, in out, in out, in out, in out-
...
"S-So, w-who's that, R-R-Reborn?"
"His name's Leon."
Tsuna raised her eyebrow at this, "Leon? That's sort of an odd name for a reptile, don't you think?"
Reborn shrugged, and he didn't appear as though he wanted to elaborate. Tsuna sighed. She scooted herself forward slightly, and smiled at the green lizard. The reptile flicked its tongue out slightly, and it's big orange eyes narrowed, which made Tsuna twitch.
"U-Uh... Hi?"
She didn't know who was harder to talk to; the lizard or its partner. (Don't ask why she said partner. Saying owner sounded wrong. That chameleon looked like it would eat her if she even thought it.)
Reborn snorted and Tsuna returned the action with a pout.
"How rude, Reborn."
"I'm not exactly known for being the polite man at the coffee shop, you know."
"I kinda figured."
Reborn pondered her response for a moment before he stood.
"Got somewhere to be, Reborn?"
The tall, ebony haired man smirked tightly, with a slightly unamused look as he glance at his watch.
"Unfortunately so."
...
"Bring coffee next time."
The man looked at her with the slight tilt of an elegant eyebrow, but shrugged.
"If I feel like it."
"I'll have an American coffee: sugar, no cream, Signore Moretti."
...
"Of course, Signora Sawada. Anything else?"
...
A good pair of lungs?
...
"No, no. That'll be all Moretti. Thank you."
...
Reborn glanced around the meeting room with slight irritation. If he had known the other six of his colleagues were going to be late, then he would have slept in a bit longer, but no. They simply had to be infuriatingly late for everything.
The hitman suppressed the urge to shoot something as he sat there, in a room by himself, legs crossed, and a keen frown frozen firmly on his face.
Only when his boss and the other five morons walked into the room, did he let his frown falter into an emotionless stare.
"Late."
Six pairs of eyes snapped onto him as he stared back.
"Late." He repeated with a hiss.
Luce, his boss, gave a light-hearted smile as she waved off the accusation. Her bright eyes flickered around the room, as if to make sure everyone was there, and Reborn clicked his tongue in mild exasperation.
"Luce..." Reborn started lowly as he scowled as the pregnant woman before him, who appeared to pay no heed to his frustration.
"The past is in the past, Reborn." She hummed as she pulled out a large manila folder.
Was he just ignored?
Him, Renato "Reborn" Sinclair, ignore?
"Shall we discuss the mission?"
The hitman grimaced.
It would seem that he was just ignored.
"The target is..."
"The target is Don Guiseppe Paulo di Senza, Segundo of the Volpi Famiglia."
"He is accused of violating a treaty his family made with Vongola seven years ago."
...
"A traitor, you say?"
...
"Make sure you bring him in alive, Reborn."
...
"Of course, Boss."
...
Luce Giglio Nero of the Giglio Nero Famiglia, Sky Arcobaleno - his Boss - handed him a sleek white document.
...
"Any questions?"
.
..
...
"Is there time for me to get an expresso before I leave?"
...
Luce just chuckled.
Tsuna was worried. Reborn, even though he was irritating, and loved to tease her, hadn't been seen lurking around the hospital for over two weeks. Granted, she was slightly glad since she had had a surgery the day he vanished, and no one should see her like that, but she was still slightly anxious about the whole thing.
Reborn didn't seem like the kind of man to just randomly disappear without giving some type of warning before he left.
It made her stomach clench with dread.
What if he just up and left?
Plenty of people had done it to her before; why couldn't he?
It wasn't even as if they were actual friends; what if he still thought they were just acquaintances?
What...
What if...
Her head spun, her teeth clattered, her hands went cold and suddenly it was very hard to breathe-
What if he had just taken pity on her?
Tsuna put her hand to her mouth, in a feeble attempt to suppress the inevitable wave of nausea about to hit her.
Oh, the sentence she had just thought made her want to crawl in a hole and die. No, that wouldn't be enough, just uttering it, thinking such a foul thing; it was like a bad taste you couldn't get off your tongue and man, it left such a vile taste in her mouth-
It was just that was a repulsive thought. Disgusting, mortifying, gruesome, horrible, awful, on a whole new level of terrifying...
The idea of someone wasting their time on her as if she needed their pity
But...
That wasn't Reborn... At least, she didn't think it was...
But, what if that was the kind of man he was?
She didn't know him.
She didn't know him.
It made her lungs ache in feverish gloom.
She held her head in her hands, and she just tried to breathe.
Breathe, Tsuna, breathe.
Just breathe.
Tsuna smelled coffee.
It was the nice kind, the kind that smelled sorta bittersweet, the kind that made her shiver with delight.
...
..
.
"Chaos."
.
..
...
Tsuna let out a breath she wasn't even aware she was holding.
...
"Hello, Reborn."
Ahaha!
I just love writing, even when I talk to myself out loud to see what sounds the best on paper!
ANYWAY!
I hope you read this next time around~
