A/N; I presume we'll be spending 10 or 15 thousand words at the Prothean Archives arc, then continuing beyond that. Rest assured, I'll be updating this fic at least once a week, for a total of 5000 words a week, at the bare minimum. Anyways, on with the story, and you won't be getting many more A/Ns from now. -Xphonias

Heschler Crater Anomaly Site, March 8 2062, Research Team
"Sending in drone now. . . hold up, it appears that the entire place is being actively jammed. This could explain the anomaly our sensors were picking up earlier." a yellow-suited engineer declared to the rest of the group. They looked among each, the chatter beginning almost immediately after the roadblock had been declared. A horn from the opposite side of the camp blasted, instantaneously silencing the group.
"You know what this means," explained the Sergeant Major, "We're going to have to go in with a full team, seeing as signals are being jammed, but this also means anything won't be coming in, or out. Pack all of your gear, we'll be do a bit of spelunking in an hour, sharp." The group saluted the Sergeant Major, then everyone started doing checks on what equipment they had, be it weapons, sensors, or armor.
True to Daniel's word, everyone was lined up and ready to move into the unknown structure an hour later. Quiet mutterings could be heard between members of the party, all anxious to find what was so deep in the depths of Mars, or preparing to be attacked at any moment while they were down there. As they passed through the now-cooled newly made doorway, the chatter petered off. The glow of flashlights and a slight tint from powered up Plasma weaponry were all that lit the cavern, as they stepped through an expansive area, filled with exotic machinery, and what could be called the analogs of modern day computer terminals littering the cavernous space.
"This don't look like anything the Ethereals would make," came from one gruff looking marine, "Whatever's here, I think it came from another group of aliens, or at least another species."
An Engineer looked up at that comment, then scanned the area around him, "I can definitely see why you would say that, none of these markings are reminiscent of what the Ethereals would make, nor do they seem to use the same technology."
The company of people continued deeper into the exotic, alien structure, while in another part of the anomaly, lights flickered on and started blinking, while millennia old data centers blinked back on, electricity running through them once again.
