He could hear it.

Every day, he would be listening. Listening to the voice that called out to him so gently at random points of the day. Inside the crystal, he was conscious. He couldn't open his eyes, he couldn't move, but he could just faintly hear the sound of two people talking once in awhile. One of the voices sounded so familiar, and for some reason he wanted to reach out to him. Reach out to his corporal. But over a period of time, his hearing had improved, he just recently managed to make out words that people had spoken outside the crystal.

Corporal? Who is that again?

Why did his heart clench whenever he heard those words? Corporal. His head wouldn't function properly, his thoughts were all muddled, flashes of battles, blood and gruesome sights filled his mind. But he knew he had to remember, no matter what he had to reach out to this man who sounded so in pain whenever he came to visit. He couldn't stand it anymore. But no matter how he tried, he never seemed to be able to break free. Something was stopping him from remembering, something was stopping him from reaching out to this man. This man that he had loved so much. That's right, he couldn't remember anything about him, but he was sure that he loved that man. He had meant everything to him.

Footsteps approached. He's coming! Eren's heart throbbed in anticipation, he was going to see him again. He couldn't move, but if he could he'd jump up in joy. However, it was a slightly different voice. A voice that he had never heard before.

"I can't believe Hanji agreed to loading this thing onto a truck. I know she respects Levi-san but this is too much."

A second voice rang though the air.

"Well, all we have to do is load this into the truck and then our job is done. Levi-san is the one who's going to take care of everything the rest of the way. I wonder why he cares so much about this hunk of rock anyways. All these things did was destroy our lives!"

The man shook his head, "We can't question his decisions, he is the one who saved humanity after all."

Eren shuddered in fear, he had destroyed humanity? Why had anyone wanted to save him anyways? He didn't deserve to be saved if all he did was cause destruction. He retreated further into his mental shell, his resolve in trying to escape breaking. Why should he? He could hear in those people's voices that his kind were feared. He remembered the bloody images in his shattered memory once again, Did I cause all of that?

Eren cringed mentally, was he a monster? A monster that was locked up in a cage. He deserved it. Maybe he should stay here forever.

Monster.

That word seemed so familiar. Too familiar. Eren had definitely heard those words before. I really am a monster.

He felt his crystal being moved, and then carefully put onto another hard surface. He wished he could open and eyes to see where he was going. But of course, being trapped in this crystal he couldn't do so.

"Thank you for your work." A familiar voice suddenly sounded.

Eren's heart jumped, It's him! It's Corporal!

However his heart sank at the same time, If i was really a monster, how much did I break him? He must hate me. I wonder what he plans to do.

The sound of the truck door closed, Eren could hear a slam. Then he heard his beloved corporal's voice once more.

"Eren, finally. We can go achieve your dream." The corporal pressed his lips against the crystal once more, however Eren didn't know, he couldn't feel it.

What dream?

"We're finally going to see the ocean, aren't you happy? Hanji and Erwin did a good job, scouting the new territory. Turns out it's not too far. We can probably make it in a day or two."

'Ocean'? I thought that only existed in story books. They exist?

"Hurry up and jump out of that crystal. Or else you'll never be able to see it."

Why does his voice sound so pained?

"Please Eren. I don't know how much longer I can stand you being in this wretched thing. No matter what people say, you aren't a monster. I know you trapped yourself inside here to save humanity. I just wanted to say that you were never a monster. You saved humanity. You were my squad's most loyal and devoted soldier. Also, it's different now. Hanji discovered something new. I had wished that it was breaking the crystal however... She discovered how to turn titans into humans. Permanently. To stop the titan transformation. If only she had discovered it when you weren't like this, you might have never decided to do this in the first place." Levi sighed to himself, he knew he was talking to himself. He honestly didn't believe that Eren could hear anything he was saying, however in the crystal, Eren was leaping up in joy that someone had wanted him to come back. That he could maybe come back and live life normally. As a normal teenager.

"Even if the whole world were to go against you. I would always be by your side. Even if you remained crystallized forever, I would never leave you, Eren."

Eren wanted to cry. He was being so cruel to the person he loved for so long. Trapping himself in the crystal, even though the corporal had wanted him to live, wanted him to live a peaceful life together he had been so foolish to assume that this would make everyone happy. There was one person, one person who was so pained over him trapping himself in his icy cage. This person was the person he loved. He had hurt him, hurt him so much more than he had thought he would. The memories came rushing back, Eren remembered their nights together, he had never believed that the corporal had loved him. However, hearing him so honestly and earnestly express his feelings, Eren knew that at some point that had changed.

Levi's eyes widened as he saw the corners of the crystal slowly cracking. Could it be?
