Scorpio Temple
"Oh, um, hi, Camus." Miro said, seeing Camus standing near the doorway. Miro ducked her head and walked into her Temple.
"Miro, if you want to explain what just happened, you better start." Camus's voice stated, making Miro feel like ice crystals were filling her veins instead of blood.
"Nothing happened." Miro muttered. She felt someone grabbed her shoulders, spin her round and push her against the wall.
"Nothing happened? Don't play with me, Miro. I saw you two with my own two eyes." Camus spat, making Miro cringe.
"You know what? Just forget it." Camus spat, dropping Miro and stalking out towards the exit. Miro raced after him and grabbed the back of his shirt.
"Camyu, here me out. Please." Miro begged, trying not to break down.
"What is there to know? You seem to like playing me for a fool, Miro." Camus spat, reefing his shirt from her grip.
"Gold Aquarius Saint Camus, just listen." Miro spat. Camus froze and turned back round to her. Miro looked into his eyes and saw the anger and rage was just a glaze over his hurt and heartbroken soul.
"Nothing happened. We were just training and I fell. Kanon just wanted to thank me for judging him on his loyalty. I said it was nothing and he hugged me. My mask slipped and I went to grab it. But before I slid my mask back in place, Kanon let his feelings cloud his judgement. I told him that my heart belongs to another and I couldn't return his feelings. Nothing else happened, Camus." Miro explained, as Camus stared at her. He turned round and Miro felt like her world was falling apart.
"But why did you let him?" Camus asked, looking back at her. His eyes showed everything he felt.
"Camus, I didn't mean to. I was shocked." Miro choked, letting her tears fall.
"Miro…" Camus said, before Miro ripped her mask off and buried her head into his shoulder. Camus hugged her tightly, burying his head into her hair.
"I didn't mean to, Camyu. I don't love him." Miro sobbed. Camus smiled and stroked her head.
"I know. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to snap at you. It wasn't your fault." Camus said, as Miro sobbed. He lifted her head and kissed her forehead.
"I'm sorry, Camyu." Miro said, looking up at him. Camus smiled and kissed her.
"No matter what happens, Miro, I will always forgive you." Camus breathed, making Miro shudder.
"Camyu, I love you." Miro whispered, trying to get one clear thought into her mind.
"I love you too, Miro." Camus said, kissing her again. Miro lost all way of thought. It felt so wrong but so right at the same time.
"Camus, we can't." Miro said, breaking away. Miro blushed and hid her face behind her mask again. Camus grabbed her hand and dragged her back.
"Miro, it's alright. I don't mind." Camus said, hugging her tightly.
"Camus, I want to be yours. But we can't." Miro said, shaking her head. Camus gripped her mask and pulled it off her face. Miro's hair stuck to her wet cheeks and in her mouth. Camus stroked it from her face and pushed it behind her ears.
"I understand, Miro. It's alright. I understand." Camus said, trying to calm her down. Milo shook her head and Camus grabbed her head.
"Miro, listen to me. I can wait. If need be, I'll wait forever." Camus said, kissing her with everything he had. Miro froze but melted, feeling all her senses leave her. She didn't think, she just felt.
"Camyu, I trust you. Alright, thank you." Miro breathed, as she broke away for air. Camus smiled at her and ran his fingers through her hair. Miro looped her arms round his neck and kissed him passionately. Camus pulled her closer and held her tighter.
"You better go, Camyu." Miro said, breaking away. Camus smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Fine, but we will discuss a new way for that mask to stay secured to your face in training. You are mine alone to see without it." Camus growled softly, pulling her close again before letting her go as her cheeks turned red and she slid her mask back into place quickly to hide them. Camus chuckled before turning and walking towards his temple.
Next Day
"Miro! Come help us get this last pillar back into place!" A voice called, startling her out of her own little world. She jogged over to the Aries Temple and helped lift the final pillar back into place. She dusted her hands off and watched as Angelo and Shura clapped each other on the back in a job well done.
"Thanks for that, Miro. Everyone else is catching up with students or out shopping for supplies." Shura explained, as she just nodded and went back to walking to her training session. Athena had become quite relaxed about keeping her Saints inside Sanctuary at all times and most of the trainees were taking full advantage of it. They rose early and trained hard so they could have the afternoon off. Miro sighed to herself and began stretching. Barely over her ordeal of the Holy War, she felt weaker somehow.
"Probably just because I had my ass handed to me by a Spectre." She growled to herself, before going through her training regime. She trained for about an hour until she got bored and with no one to spar with she decided to go into town herself. She walked up to her Temple and got changed into a white, floaty top and blue stonewash jeans. She combed her hair quickly and grabbed a small backpack in case she wanted to buy something. She smiled to herself and shook her head before walking down to the Aries Temple. She walked towards the village outside Sanctuary before catching a ride in a leaving taxi to Athens.
~~~~~~ Athens ~~~~~~
'It's strange.' Miro sighed to herself, stirring the iced chocolate as she watched the world go past the little café innocently named Ambrosia. She sipped at the drink again and smiled, the chocolate was rich and perfectly hinted with caramel. She relaxed into the wicker chair and adjusted her new sunglasses over her eyes. She felt very chic, as Lady Athena or Saori, would say. The sunglasses were white with swirls of gold along the arms and eased the sun's light that would have splintered her sight until her eyes watered.
"Ma'am, would you like to buy some fresh herb bread?" A soft, shy voice asked, making her open her eyes. She lifted her sunglasses up and smiled at the golden brown haired girl of no older than 10 holding a basket covered with a plain white cloth.
"Can I have two loaves then? They smell delicious." Miro lifted her bag and took out her slim wallet that Aphrodite had given to her as a joke on her 18th birthday. It had a cartoon like depiction of a scorpion amongst stars. The girl smiled brightly and rummaged to pull out two medium sized loaves and wrapped them gently in brown paper.
"Four Euro please." The girl said, her voice slightly more bright. Miro smiled to herself and took out a 5 Euro note, placing it in the girl's hand and curling her hand round it.
"Keep the change." Miro smiled, making the girl nod before she turned and continued to try and sell the bread. Miro put her sunglasses back over her eyes and tucked the bread gently into her shopping bag that held a light blue airy shirt like the one she wore and a new pair of shorts for the approaching summer.
'I better be getting back. Sun's quite low now.' Miro sighed to herself, noticing the Sun was resting just above the buildings surrounding the square. She shrugged and continued enjoying her drink until she couldn't delay her return to Sanctuary. She lifted her bags up and began her return trip home, which involved finding a taxi willing to travel so far away from town.
"Young lady! Miss!" A voice behind her called, making her turn from grumbling about pricks that drive taxis and saw the young girl from before and an older gentleman.
"This was the nice lady I was talking about, Grandpapa." The girl smiled to the man, who eyed Miro with wise eyes.
"It seems you need a lift home." The man said, nodding towards the taxis. Miro nodded, trying not to growl softly at another taxi ignoring a local to give a lift to a higher paying tourist.
"We can offer a lift, can't we Grandpapa?" The girl quipped, her bright smile making the man chuckle.
"It may not be as comfortable as a taxi but it is the least we can do for your gift to my granddaughter." The man said, gesturing to the horse pulled cart that would have held the day's market goods but now sat empty except for a few crates. Miro smiled slightly and nodded.
"I would appreciate the offer. I have a fair way to go, but I can pay you for your kindness." Miro started but the man held his hand up, silencing her with respect.
"You have already given us too much. Let us give you this small repayment." The man said, as the young girl cleared many of the crates to the edges of the cart. Miro just shook her head and climbed up, settling down next to the smiling young girl as the man snapped the reins gently and the cart began to move.
An hour later
"So do you live near here?" The man said, as the cart pulled to a halt in the village near Sanctuary.
"Yes, my home is just up ahead." Miro smiled, climbing out of the cart and grabbing her bag. The girl smiled and waved as the cart pulled away again. Miro waved back before heading for the barrier, passing through it without much difficulty before lifting her bag onto her back with one strap and walking towards the Temples.
'A shower sounds good right about now.' She sighed to herself, rubbing the back of her neck as she entered Mu's Temple, finding the main hall empty but sensing Mu's Cosmos somewhere close by. Miro continued on her way, only running into Angelo who was rushing past her down towards the training grounds. Miro giggled slightly and relaxed, Sanctuary was back to normal. Back to peace times and with Athena in Sanctuary, they were strong if anything happened.
'Might as well change it back to its original colour.' She thought, gripping a piece of her indigo hair and smiling, feeling safe enough that she could become her original self again. Not having to live up to the legend of Scorpio Kardia.
"Gold sounds perfect now." She laughed softly and headed for her bathroom, the box of hair dye removal solution in her hand. Stepping under the warm water, she watched as the indigo started to swirl away with the water, smiling when it became less and less until only clear water met her gaze. She finished her shower and stepped out into the steam filled room, wiping down the mirror and watched someone she hadn't remembered she was stare back at her. Golden hair stuck to her cheeks, dripping with water before she turned away to dry off.
Next Day
"Miro?" A voice called out, making her turn away from cooking herself breakfast.
"Yeah, in the kitchen." She called back, eyeing the scrambled eggs before turning off the heat and reaching for the plate with the fresh bread from yesterday. She hummed softly while plating her dish and turned to face the doorway. Camus stood there, eyes dark and his Cosmos starting to build.
"Who are you and what have you done with Miro of Scorpio?" He demanded, making her laugh softly before placing her plate down, remove her mask and putting her hands on her hips.
"I decided to wash out the hair dye, Camyu. Thought it was about time to restart since Athena has given us another chance at life." She smiled, brushing one of her bangs behind her ear and looking up at him. Camus stepped closer and cupped her chin, brushing his thumb across her cheek.
"So this is what your hair colour is naturally…" He mumbled, making her nod before he leant down and kissed her, his hand moving from her chin to knot in her hair against the back of her head. Miro wrapped an arm round his waist and the other became crushed between them, Camus pulling her closer and squeezing her hip gently.
"Don't ever dye it again." He growled against her lips, sending a chill down her spine before he let her go and walked out of the room, leaving her gasping for air slightly as she leaned against the counter top.
"Breakfast. Right." She shook her head and went back to having her breakfast. After cleaning up and wrapping the athletic tape round her hands, clenching them to check that they were secure, she walked down to the training grounds. She felt a smirk form as Saints of all ranks did double takes, stunned by the sudden hair change. She sat of the edge of the Gold's training grounds and watched Angelo and Aphrodite sparring.
"What's with the sudden change, Miro?" A voice asked from behind her, making her turn and look at Saga, shrugging.
"I felt that since we have been given another change, it was time that I stopped trying to be someone I wasn't. Don't worry, I can still put you idiots on your asses. Just because the hair has changed doesn't mean I have." She challenged, making Saga smirk.
"Of course, want to prove that fact, Scorpion?" He chuckled, making her stand and wave a hand down towards the grounds.
"Whenever you are ready, Twin." She smirked, knowing he couldn't see anything but her eyes. Saga chuckled and jumped down onto the grounds, Miro following as Angelo and Aphrodite stopped their sparring and went to the side, making room for Miro and Saga.
"Still commanding as ever, Saga?" She toyed, taking her position. Saga chuckled darkly and faced her, taking his own position.
"Of course, someone has to keep you dolts in line." He smirked, as they charged at each other. They met in the middle in a clash of fists. Saga didn't hold back just because they didn't have their Cloths but he wasn't stupid enough to use his Cosmos. Miro dodged over his head from his upper cut and kicked his lower back with the flat of her foot, sending him sprawling at her feet. Saga flipped over and kicked upwards, making Miro grab his ankle and flip him over her head. But she didn't count on Saga gripping her arm and throwing her down with him. Saga stood faster than what she could recover and pinned her shoulder under his foot.
"See? Still keeping you in line, Miro." He smirked, making Miro growl and push herself upwards, her arms straining against the pressure of Saga's leg. She flipped over and punched upwards, not seeing where she hit as Saga stumbled back and crumpled to the ground, groaning as she brushed her hair out of her hair.
"What A Hit!" Angelo's voice laughed, as Aphrodite's laughter joined in with a few others. Miro looked round and spotted some of the other Gold Saints before looking down at her opponent. Saga had curled up in a ball, holding his crotch, making Miro burst out laughing and fall onto the ground, making Saga glare at her.
"Bitch move, Miro." He groaned, as Kanon helped him up. Miro felt a hand wrap round her upper arm and lift her to her feet, still laughing before looking up and smiling at Camus, who just chuckled and shook his head.
"Was not. I just defended myself from losing to you, Twin." She smirked, her eyes blazing for a moment before she laughed again and brushed her hair away from her eyes.
"Sure." Saga groaned, limping away, making Miro laugh more. She began to walk away, Camus following behind her as the other Gold's began training. Camus headed towards the Temples, making Miro chase after him, wondering why he was walking this way instead of towards another training field.
"Camyu?" "I want to show you a book I found in the library. I know who you were trying to be, Miro. And I want you to see who they really were." Camus explained, looking back at her, making Miro tilt her head slightly, her eyes confused.
"Was it that obvious?" "No. I didn't even realise until I found this particular tome." He smiled, making her punch him lightly before they walked towards the Aquarius Temple. It was known for the attached library that held Sanctuary's surviving history, having been there since Athena had first founded Sanctuary. The Aquarius Saints had always been scholars, being called upon in times of need to find history within the grand library's walls. Times had changed and the library had always been redesigned to meet the modern era's needs, transforming from a wooden building to a marble Temple upon itself, attached directly to the main quarters of the Aquarius Temple. Miro remembered learning that it had been attached to the Temple since the times of Aquarius Dégel, the Saint that held the Gold Cloth before Camus.
"Have you ever heard of a Scorpio Kardia?" "Yes, the Saint that came before I did. They sacrificed their life to save the Prince of the Northern Ice so he could help Athena. Dying alongside Aquarius Dégel." Miro quoted, her eyes wandering around the great building, looking at all the books that the Aquarius Saints had collected and stored. Camus smiled and handed her a thin tome, no larger than her forearm.
"I think there was more to that story, Miro." He said, leaving her to read the book and heading for a set of stairs to reach the upper level. Miro followed him with her eyes before slipping her mask off and sitting down near a window to begin reading.
How do I start this thing? Hello, my name is Kardia Gold Saint of Scorpio. I am 19 years old and Dégel has forced me to make an account of my life as a Gold Saint. Something about preserving history or something. Anyway, I am the only Female Gold Saint though I am pretty sure I could take all these guys on at once and win, but Dégel says it would make my heart condition worse.
I am required to wear a mask to hide my features as decreed by Athena long before I was even born, but I don't mind. Dégel says it is a great honour to be granted a Gold Cloth as a Female Saint, but I think it's got more to do with my Cosmos. My Cosmos is flame based, using heat and pain to destroy my enemies. My attacks are; listed weakest to strongest; Scarlet Needle, Needle Antares and finally Katakio Scarlet Needle. All are deadly but Katakio Needle will kill me as well as my opponent. Can't wait to find the one final opponent just to see what this attack will do.
"Camyu?" Miro asked, feeling a bit confused. Camus looked over the railing holding a similar book, thicker and turquoise unlike her own dark crimson.
"I…" "Its okay, Miro, she becomes better. Please, just read." He smiled slightly, making her gulp and nod.
Kardia, age 20. My heart isn't as bad now. Dégel has found a way to help, using his ice to cool the fire faster than the usual rest and cool cloths. But I still haven't ever left Sanctuary. The boring life I lead. Just once I want to prove that I can fight like my Brethren. Just once.
"She never left Sanctuary?" Miro asked, lifting her gaze to find Camus sitting down in the chair across from her.
"Never, not even for supplies." Camus motioned for her to keep reading, making her groan softly. He was being very secretive about all this.
Kardia, age 21. Dégel says he has to go on a journey soon so the Holy Pope has ordered me to stay in my Temple. He says it will only be for a week at most, just to retrieve some Ancient Scrolls of Athena that were stolen. Why couldn't I just go with him? What if he gets hurt?
I've been feeling like this for a while now. Scared that my only friend will not return to Sanctuary, leaving me alone and dying no matter how much I rest. I won't admit it but I am scared for him. I don't want to lose him. Don't leave me here alone, Dégel, I don't know what I would do.
"Did he ever recover the scrolls?" Miro asked, suddenly scared herself, Kardia's words so full of emotion. Camus smiled and nodded.
"Yes, he recovered the documents and then spent a few weeks restoring them, Kardia by his side the whole time, even though it is documented that she never liked spending more than a few hours inside." Camus explained, making Miro relax and open the book back up.
Kardia, age 22. So much has happened this past year since my last entry. Dégel has been acting weird but I know it's just because we have been placed on alert and a few of the others have been getting heaps of missions. The next selection for missions is coming up and I want to go. I don't care anymore, I am dying here, my life wasting away the more I sit idle. I will be going on this mission no matter what.
"What? They had selections and had to explain why they wanted to go on the mission? Things certainly have changed." Miro grumbled softly, thinking of how many missions she could have been able to give away if she had that option. Camus chuckled softly and tapped the book again. Miro growled softly and lifted it back up to finish the current page.
Kardia, age 22. Dégel, so much has changed between us. I know someone one day will read this so I want them to know our history. I, Kardia of Scorpio, belong to Dégel of Aquarius. It happened after my first mission, I was gravely injured and almost died. Dégel, in his desperation, tried to heal me while declaring his love for me. And I realise now that I feel the same. I never want to lose him, just the thought of him going away scares me. To whoever has found this, my soul belongs to him. This Scorpio Saint belongs to the Aquarius Saint.
Miro looked up from the page and reached for her mask, suddenly feeling the need to leave. Camus looked up from reading his own book and smiled slightly.
"Too much for you, Miro?" Camus asked, making her shake her head. He leant over and lifted her mask up to her. Miro quickly snatched it away and slid it onto her face and stood.
"Mind if I read this back at my Temple?" "Not at all, she is your ancestor after all." He said, lifting a pair of thin wire framed glasses up and running his thumb gently across the nose piece.
"Did those belong to Dégel?" Miro asked, making Camus nod. She smiled and took them from his hand, opening them and making to place them on his face. Camus chuckled and put them on, making Miro giggle. He looked up at her and blinked, his eyes going wide slightly.
"What can you see?" A face that he didn't recognise asked, her voice sounding like Miro's. But the red eyes and faint scars mixed with the blue hair and deadly smirk were not his Miro's. He pulled the glasses off slightly and Miro's face returned to normal. She tilted her head and sighed, smiling to herself.
"Too blurry right? Thought so, Camyu doesn't wear glasses. Or he never told me he does." She smiled, turning to head for the door. Camus quickly pulled the glasses back on and watched gold hair blend into blue, tying into a scorpion tail like braid. Miro's body was leaner, taller yet curved slightly less. Bandages covered her arms and her modern clothes turned into a tunic and training tights.
"Camyu? Why are you wearing them again?" Miro's voice asked, the face smirking softly, eyes holding a soft glow that he couldn't describe. Camus took them off again and shrugged.
"Thought that I felt a Cosmos. But not anymore. Enjoy your afternoon, Miro." Camus said, making Miro smile and nod before turning away and shutting the door. Camus sat back and stared at the glasses and tried to understand what he had seen.
Hello everyone, SSHoshi here. Thought I would continue Heat Can't Exist Without Cold. Combining Scarlet Burning and this particular story. It's gonna be great! Just you wait.
