Chapter 3: That's enough!
Loyalists base
05:31 P.M.
It was getting dark and Soap was walking towards the infirmary. She was a little nervous because it was a shame for her as the captain of 141 to go and apologize someone lower than her rank; but what Ghost had done was some how her fault since as the leader of their team she must have controlled him. Ghost was making things difficult for all of them.
Same day 02:03 P.M.
" I know Kamarov, I'll talk to him as soon as possible." Soap said while she was sitting in Kamarov's office. She knew Kamarov was right; but Ghost was out of control and she didn't want to accept this bitter fact. It all began after Ghost heard that Roach was dead. He had failed Roach. He had promised to protect him and now Roach was dead. now he couldn't forgive himself.
" I want you to talk with him now captain MacTavish, I know what he has been through but that doesn't give him the right to hurt my soldiers." Kamarov said.
" I'll make sure that doesn't happen again."
Soap promised. " I'll look forward to that captain." Kamarov said.
Back to present
Soap stopped in front of the door of the infirmary. " I'll kill you for this Riley."
she murmured then she opened the door.
She hated hospitals or in this case infirmaries. Oh the smell, the colours even the nurses and doctors they were all disgusting from her point of view.
" I will kill you Ghost." she murmured again.
" can I help you ma'am?" a nurse asked. " oh, yes. where can I find Yuri?"
Soap tried to act normal. " let me see... yes. he is in the room number 7." the nurse replied. " oh, ok thank you."Soap said. She didn't wait for the nurse's answer and made her way to the ' room number 7 ' " there it is." she said to herself. She opened the door. The room was horribly warm and the smell of all sorts of medicines had filled the atmosphere. There was two beds in the room the left one was empty and Yuri was sitting on the right one reading a book " I told you doc, I'm ok I don't have any pain." Yuri said not looking at the person in front of the door. " uh, fortunately, I'm not a doctor." Soap said slowly making her way towards Yuri's bed. Yuri looked at her with surprise " sorry, I thought you were the doc." Yuri said. " I'm_" " I know, you're captain MacTavish the leader of 141." Yuri interrupted her. " so I guess you know the reason of my visit." Soap said. " it was my fault." Yuri said. " no Yuri, I mean I'm here to apologize; Ghost is a little moody these days." Soap finally mentioned the reason of her visit. " oh, there is no need to apologize captain; it was my fault I was wrong about you and I'm sorry." Yuri said." oh, well anyways_"
knock knock knock.
Soap was interrupted by the sound of the door. they both looked at the doorway.
" it's time for dinner." a nurse came in with a tray of food in her hands.
" I think it's time for me to leave;Yuri it was so nice to meet you." Soap said making her way towards the open door. " it was nice to meet you too captain MacTavish." Yuri said.
Mess hall
06:07 P.M.
Soap,Price,Archer and Nikolai were eating their dinner and obviously Ghost was nowhere to be seen. " did you visit Yuri?" Price broke the silence. " yes I did." Soap answered simply. " where is Ghost,Archer?" Soap changed the subject.
"no idea captain." Archer replied. Soap was about to rise from her seat to go and find him but she saw him in the doorway of the mess hall so she sat back and watched his movements the others followed her gaze. " can we please eat our dinner." Nikolai said. every one stopped looking at Ghost except Soap who was chasing Ghost with her eyes. " oh not gonna happen..." Soap said suddenly. " Archer go bring him to our table." Soap said. Archer rose from his seat. " tell him that's an order." Soap added. after some moments Archer came back with Ghost and they both sat.
" Nikolai, how much do you know Yuri?" Soap asked.
" I know he's the best in loyalists. he's strong and skilled." Nikolai explained. " can we trust him?" Price asked.
" he hates Makarov more than all of us and l think that makes him trusty." Nikolai replied. " that's not enough to make him trusty." Soap said. " he needs to prove himself if he wants to join the task force." she added. " we need to fill the empty places of Roach and the others with reliable soldiers; Makarov won't wait for us to regain our power he's somewhere out there." Soap said. " we all know that Soap ;but what we can do is to wait until he shows us his next move." Price said.
" so what do we do now captain?" Archer asked. " I guess we have to wait but first we need to have our own base." Soap replied.
" leave that to me." Nikolai said. Soap nodded. " and before you disappear again we need to talk Ghost, I'll see you in my office after dinner." Soap said and Ghost nodded.
Soap was waiting for Ghost in her office and instead of doing something useful she was rolling her pen from side of the table to the other side. there were moments in her life that she forgot about everything and did something she liked; and this was one of those moments. after seconds of doing this her pen rolled and fell under the table she went under the table to pick it up but when she did...
Knock..knock...knock
she bumped her head on the edge of the table " ouch... bloody hell"
knock.. knock..knock
she sat back on her chair and rubbed the back of her head. " come in" she called.
Ghost opened the door and walked inside the room but stayed where he was.
" it's gonna take long; you can sit on that chair." Soap said pointing to a chair in front of her table. Ghost did as he was told. "what's with the mask again I told you to put it on during the missions only Ghost." Soap said. Ghost said nothing. " take it off." Soap ordered. " I said take it off Ghost; besides you're just like an open book to me whether you wear your mask or not." Soap said. " is that so?" Ghost said. " oh so you know how to talk." Soap said humorously.
" funny." Ghost crossed his legs. Soap pointed to him with her eyes. " what?" Ghost asked. " the mask." Soap replied. Ghost sighed heavily then took off his mask. " happy now?" he said. She smiled at that. " if you're going to ask about this morning I have nothing to say." Ghost said. " umm..let me see.." Soap looked at some papers in front of her then said. " nope it's not about today." Ghost tried to hold back his smile but he failed.
" how is your chest; still feeling the pain?" Soap asked. Ghost looked at his chest where the bullet wound had been.
" no the pain stopped last week; why do you ask such question after seven weeks?" Ghost asked. Soap shifted uncomfortably then said. " cause you were always slow to heal." Soap said then opened a drawer and grabed something from inside of it; a little box of biscuits. " here I saved some for you." she offered him the box. " thank you." he said.
" so what do you think?" Soap asked.
Ghost swallowed the biscuits in his mouth and said " about what?" " Yuri, what do you think, can we trust him?"
Soap asked. " why do you ask me this, you're the CO not me you should know that better than me." he said. " since you two must know each other better than me right? I saw your sweet chit chat with Yuri. I wonder what he had told you. I had never seen you like that before." Soap said smiling. " you said it wasn't about today." Ghost said. " look Simon, you're my second in command it's your job to help me decide when it's needed and now I'm asking you a simple question. 'do you trust Yuri'?" Soap said waiting for Ghost's final answer.
" he's strong." Ghost said not looking Soap in the eye. " alright then that's good enough for me." Soap said " let's go for a walk; the weather is amazing out there." Soap said rising from her seat. " and what if I say no." Ghost said and put the biscuit box in his pocket. " you know you can't; cause that's not a suggestion. now come on." Soap said holding the door open for him. " you're a mean Soap you know?" Ghost said rising from the chair. " indeed I am." she said and they both laughed. now she was sure that she had Ghost's trust and that meant that he was under control now.
