Konoha's Secret
Chapter 3
Once Kakashi and Sakura had left the room, Sasuke turned his gaze to the ceiling. His thoughts on his missing teammate, who would want Naruto so badly enough that they would make it look like Naruto abandoned his village. Who had really given the Hokage the information about supposed whereabouts of Sasuke. He had the feeling that same person would be the one that wanted Naruto. However tracking said person down was looking like it would be next to impossible. Sasuke frowned wondering if the Hokage would even release him and allow him to help search for Naruto. What a fine mess he had managed to get himself into, of course if he hadn't done this he wouldn't have found out about Naruto being gone at all.
As he lay there considering what his next option was, he didn't pay attention to the person entering room, at least not until the man was standing right next to him.
"Do you know how much trouble you are in right now?" The man asked. "if you wanted your freedom, you should have stayed away."
"I don't see where that is any of your business." Sasuke replied, scowling at the man. He'd heard stories of this Hokage want to be and he knew what role the man had played with Itachi. Instead of Naruto being the first die perhaps this man would. "What do you want?" Sasuke ask.
"To join me." the man replied. "In attacking and bringing Konoha down to his knees. After all isn't that what your plan is to begin with."
"What do you know about what my intentions are?" Sasuke asked darkly. "Maybe I just wanted to come home after such a long time away."
"You and I both know that you didn't come back willingly." the man stated. "I have a power source that will soon be ready to turn against Konoha. It's only going to take a little longer to break it. It would be a shame if you weren't on my side." Sasuke scowled and wondered exactly what this man's power source was. Just how did this guy plan on taking on Konoha? Sasuke as the man turned and walked out the door, he couldn't help but wonder how this guy hadn't been suspected of treason already. Sasuke was also surprised that the Hokage didn't have anyone in here guarding him. Maybe Sasuke should have listened to Karin when she said things could get complicated quickly. He couldn't believe how quickly they had gotten complicated. Closing his eyes, Sasuke decided to rest for a little while, and hopefully he would find out what the Hokage would do with him.
A little later when he woke up, his side wasn't feeling quite as painful as it had when he had previously woken up. He wasn't too surprised to the find the Hokage scowling down at him either.
"Your the brat that has caused Naruto and Sakura so much misery." She commented. Sasuke frowned, he didn't like thinking about his previous life here. He didn't know either what to tell the Hokage because Sasuke was certain that he had caused his former teammates a lot of misery.
"I can't help it that they are obsessed with me." Sasuke finally spoke up. "I never wanted friends to begin with."
"Because killing your brother was so important?" Tsunade asked.
"It was at the time but I've recently learned some things about him. He was dying anyways, he just wanted to die at my hand." Sasuke replied.
"And you felt it was time to return since your mission was accomplished?" Tsunade asked. Sasuke nodded.
"I had no other reasons to stay away, and besides I knew Naruto would keep trying to bring me back." Sasuke replied.
"By now I'm sure that you know about Naruto's situation?" Tsunade asked.
"Yes, I will take whatever punishment you deem necessary, but please allow me to search for Naruto." Sasuke said. "It doesn't feel right with him not being here."
"He would most certainly be here right now refusing to leave you alone." Tsunade said, smiling grimly. She sincerely hoped that her gaki wasn't dead and that they would still be able to find him. Tsunade wanted nothing more than to bring Naruto home, even if all they found of him was a body. At least then he would be able to buried at home and not somewhere where no one would be able to find him. Naruto deserved to be back among those that loved him so deeply.
"Don't tell me you think he's dead too?" Sasuke asked taking note of the grim look in the light blonde haired woman's eyes. "Everybody seems to think he's dead, but I'm sure he's stronger now than when he was when I left. I'm certain he wouldn't die so easily."
"It's been a year and with each day the hope of finding him fades." Tsunade answered. "It's hard to keep up hope when all the evidence says that he's dead."
"What evidence?" Sasuke asked "and why didn't Sakura tell me about that."
"Because she doesn't know everything." Tsunade replied. "I'm afraid of what she would do if she did find out."
"Is she that scary?" Sasuke wondered "she wasn't very talented back then."
"People can change dramatically in three years." Tsunade replied. "She isn't obsessed with you anymore. She has focused more on her training."
"Is she in love with Naruto?" Sasuke asked, not sure why he even cared about that.
"No, Naruto wishes, she's only interested in getting stronger so that she can be an asset in battle." Tsunade replied, looking up and scowling at Sasuke.
"I still don't know that I trust to not have had anything to do with Naruto's being gone." Tsunade said. "It didn't take much for you to abandon everyone here."
"I didn't do anything." Sasuke grumbled. "I have no reason too." of course she was better off not knowing what he had planned.
"You've given up on wanting to kill Naruto?" she asked and Sasuke nodded, not bothering to reply. He was quickly growing tired of all these questions. He really just wanted to rest and get back to his plotting. He had to find out what that other man was planning on using as a power source before he decided whether he was going to team up with him or not. One thing was certain though Konoha would fall Sasuke would make sure of it.
"You seem pretty certain that Naruto is alive for someone who hasn't seen him in a few years." Tsunade said.
"I'm just guessing." Sasuke said "I honestly didn't have anything to do with him being gone."
"I guess it's just easy to pin the blame on the one Naruto considered his best friend, even after all that the said friend tried to do." Tsunade said.
"I can't promise that you will have complete freedom, but I'm sure that if you are closely watched then you can help in the search for Naruto. After all having two sharingan is better than one."
"You never did tell me what evidence there was of Naruto being dead." Sasuke reminded her, not entirely sure that he wanted to hear it.
"There was a large pool of blood where Naruto was last seen at, when running tests it matched Naruto's blood type." Tsunade replied. Sasuke frowned it wouldn't have been that hard to plant some blood if they knew Naruto's blood type. Sasuke was certain that the blood had been used as a distraction. Why Tsunade didn't think of that he didn't know, but he wasn't about to bring it up. What would anyone gain from kidnapping Naruto and making it look like he was dead? Sasuke had learned that Naruto was Jinchuuriki for The Nine Tailed Demon, could someone have faked Naruto death to someone get a hold of the power that Naruto carried? That made Sasuke wonder if the man that had come to see him had anything to do with Naruto's disappearance. If that was the case that meant that Naruto was literally right underneath Konoha's nose.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I probably won't be back on until after my grandfather's funeral.
