Elena
I'm rushing through the office like a chicken with it's head cut off as I scramble to get this script turned in.
"Gilbert!" Joshua Parker, my micromanaging boss, screams through the office building.
"Yes." I run into his office frantically with a stack of papers in my hands.
"Where the hell is that article I asked for?!" Joshua yells at me.
"I will have it to you in the next five minutes." I smile at him but that does absolutely nothing to assuage his angered mood.
"And get me that Mikaelson interview asap!" He calls out to me as I step out of his office and over to my cubical. The whole office overlooks the city, and interns are spread across a long table beside me. Luckily, I am not an intern but I am a junior editor at the one and only Parker Magazine. My boss Joshua is the grandson of the CEO of Parker Magazine and also happens to be one of the cruelest men I have ever known. From his rude comments, to his criticizing critiques, he never fails to point out every single flaw of mine.
I quickly send him the link before leaning back in my chair tiredly. At least today is Friday and I can revel in the time I have over the weekend.
Ding. Ding. Ding.
My phone vibrates on top of my desk and I glance up to see Caroline's name displayed across the screen.
"Hey love! So tonight I really want you to come to dinner. It will be fun I promise!"
I laugh at her punctuated text before typing my reply.
"Sounds great Care."
"I have to warn you it's kind of a double date situation, but I promise you your guy is hot!!!"
I tense for a moment in my chair, hesitant to go or not. After my week I don't really want to pretend to act as if I am interested in dating when I really am not.
"You said you would meet him! Remember?"
Caroline texts again when I don't respond. She's right, I promised her that I would meet her new amazing boyfriend and after my ditching her last weekend, I owe her.
"Okay Care sounds fun." I text back hesitantly even though no, making casual conversation with a guy I don't know sounds excruciatingly painful, not fun. I was only supposed to work half a day which ends at 1 pm, but now that I glance at the time it's almost four. Great. I gather my stuff and retrieve my MacBook before strutting out of the office. People are typing profusely on their computers and don't even spare me a second glance as I enter the elevator. On my way down, I suddenly get a text from the person I've been trying to avoid.
"Hey baby."
I roll my eyes and tuck my phone into my black purse without responding. The ground floor is full of security and people running around from place to place. The cold air smacks me in the face as I trudge through the frigid weather. My nude trench coat is tightly wrapped around my body as I walk towards my apartment building. Walking sounded better than a cab even though it's a couple blocks away.
Once I reach my apartment building, I run up the steps and into the hall. The few flights of stairs are a breeze, what takes my breath away is the sight of Tyler leaning against my apartment door.
"Tyler." I breathe out and walk hesitantly over towards his taller stance. A black hoodie is covering his body while a pair of grey basketball shorts hang loosely on his legs, black nike sneakers finish off his outfit and I realize that he probably came here after a run knowing him.
"Well hello gorgeous." He compliments me and pushes himself of the door as I get closer to him.
"What are you doing here?" I question with an irritated tone.
"What? Am I not allowed to come over to my girlfriends apartment?"
"Tyler I'm not your girlfriend, not anymore." I clarify as I turn the key and unlock my apartment.
"Oh come on, you and I both know that is not true." He breathes out and slides his hand over my waist.
"Tyler stop." I warn him as I drop my purse onto the counter. His movements don't halt though as he takes an uninvited step into my apartment and shuts the door.
"Why can't you just let go for once." He breathes against my neck and I jump at his sudden close proximity.
"Tyler don't." I plead but he doesn't stop and drops his lips to my neck instead. His hands run over my clothed body as my eyes flutter shut and I fall right back into his persuasive ways. Tyler then spins me around and catches my mouth against his. When you have as much history as we do, it's hard to just say no and turn away.
Next thing I know he is pulling his hoodie over his head, revealing his muscular toned body. My hands run through his dark brown hair as I moan into his mouth. Our motions are quick as he tears my coat off and slips my panties down my legs. He rips a condom out of its package and places it over his hardened cock before picking me up and pushing us against the door. His motions are quick as he thrusts into me with my dress still on and I moan out in agony. His motions are fast and sudden but it doesn't take me long to fall into his pace and begin feel myself unravel.
"Fuck." He groans as he pounds forcefully into me against the door frame.
"Oh my gosh!" I moan out as I cling tightly to his neck and my legs quake with satisfaction. His actions don't halt until he is completely sent and I am just about to reach my climax when he pulls out of me. He sets me down tiredly and walks cockily through my kitchen. My eyes open and I realize that he didn't even check to make sure I came, he is just strolling over to the kitchen in search for a bottle of water. A sigh leaves my throat as I try and just let it go. His used condom is placed on my hard wood floor as I bend down and pick up his nasty item.
"You are such a pig." I tell him as I throw away the condom and turn to face him. My breath is still heaving and I am suddenly unsure why I even let that happen.
"Tyler I think you should go."
"Go? Right now?" He plays dumb as he gulps down half of the water bottle.
"Yeah." I nod and turn around, refusing to look at him.
"This is so like you. I come over tell you that I want to be with you still and then you just throw me out!" He yells at me all of the sudden.
"Oh having sex with me like an animal means that you want to get back together. Wow Tyler, yeah get out." I roll my eyes.
"Whatever, you know I am so fucking sick of this."
"Just leave." I pant out and tread past him and into my bedroom. Suddenly the door slams shut and I flinch tightly. This was not how I planned my night turning out. I then drop to my bed and run my hand through my hair frantically. My legs are still tingling and I know that if I don't come I will feel antsy the rest of the night. I plunge my fingers into me deliciously until I come without any help from Tyler.
My weak orgasm rushes through me until I am left sitting on my bed with this empty feeling lodged in my throat, the empty feeling that never really seems to fade.
I force myself to get out of bed and get ready for tonight. Maybe this guy will be nice, probably not, but maybe. I run my straightener through my brunette hair a few times. My makeup is slightly darker than usual as I apply a little bit of eyeliner to my undereyes. My whole due is complemented by a loose silk black blouse tucked into a maroon velvet skirt. I slip sheer nylons over my long legs before sliding on some chic pointed black pumps and pulling a black Micheal Kors crossbody over my shoulder. My dog begs for my attention as I quickly feed her.
"I'm so sorry baby I will see you later." I kiss her on the head, but she couldn't care less about me as she devours the food in front of her. I slip my phone, wallet, key, and lip gloss into my purse before heading out of my apartment and shutting the door quietly behind me. Dinner is supposedly at eight and the clock is leaning towards the seven thirty mark, leaving me half an hour to get to the restaurant. My hair is in my face as my heels clank against the steel stairs.
Knowing Caroline, she probably got here fifteen minutes ago as I open the restaurant door and search for the blonde bombshell. Caroline is a hard girl to miss. Her blonde curls, and her pearly white smile mixed in with her perky yet sometimes annoying personality always brings her out to be the center of attention.
"Stefan!" Caroline giggles brightly as I make my way through the crowded restaurant and over to my best friend.
"Caroline!" I call out as she flirts with the handsome dirty blonde in front of her.
"Elena!" She gasps in excitement and hugs me so tight that I lose the ability to breathe for a moment.
"You came." She smiles at me and lets me out of her tight embrace.
"I came." I smile in response before turning my attention over to the tall dark blonde haired man in front of me.
"Elena this is Stefan." She smiles widely as I hold my hand out and shake his hand politely.
"It's nice to meet you Stefan."
"You too." He smiles sweetly and I can already tell by the twinkle in her eye that she is head over heels for this one. Unlike me, Caroline falls quick and fast, she doesn't question herself over and over agin like I do. Maybe I should be more like her.
"Oh and Elena, like I promised, Stefan's brother agreed to come so that you wouldn't feel like a third wheel or anything." Caroline perks up.
"His brother?" I choke out under my breath.
"Yeah. I mean it's not like his twin or anything don't get to excited." She giggles and takes a sip of her vodka soda.
"So where is this brother?" I ask as I cross my arms across my chest and look out across the bar, acting as if I am looking for someone who I don't even know.
"Damon just went to get us a table." She shrugs casually.
"Damon?" My eyes widen at the familiar name.
"Elena?" His husky voice questions and I immediately recall who my date for the evening is. My eyes widen in humiliation before I turn around and am met with those exact same crystal blue eyes I fell for last weekend. His black hair is still a perfectly imperfect disheveled mess, his blue eyes caught up in my familiar ones. He is wearing a black button up shirt that is rolled up at the sleeves, revealing his muscular forearms. The dark blue wash jeans fit his legs perfectly as his black motorcycle boots make my heart swoon. He is the definition of sexy, a sexy man I thought I would never see again.
"You two know each other?" Caroline questions in a confused tone.
"Yeah we uh-uh know e-each other." I stutter out as I stare at the man in front of me.
"How?" Stefan than chimes in from behind Caroline as I try and come up with a story of how I know him.
"We had sex." Damon lays out bluntly and I am shocked at his bluntness when I turn to look at Caroline with a blush creeping onto my cheeks.
"What?" Caroline gasps more in the aspect of me not telling her than her being shocked.
"Of course you did." Stefan rolls his eyes as if he is not surprised at all by his brother's actions.
"So are we still eating dinner or not?" Damon questions from in front of us as I smile weakly at Caroline, the embarrassment not falling from my face as she shrugs.
"Yeah. Elena and I are going to the bathroom real quick and then we will be right with you two." She speaks out smoothly before taking my hand in hers and walking hurriedly towards the ladies room. Once the door is shut and she has made sure that no one else is in the bathroom, she turns to me with widened eyes in hopes of an explanation.
"I'm sorry Care, that's all I got." I shrug.
"Why didn't you tell me you hooked up with someone?" She questions, hurt that I kept something from her for once.
"I didn't think that much of it and I don't take pride in the fact that I had a one night stand."
"Well just promise not to make tonight awkward. I really really like Stefan and I wanted you to like him and-"
"Caroline." I place both of hands on the side of her arms as I try and get her to stop rambling.
"Everything is fine. Damon and I are both mature adults who can get past the fact that we've seen each other naked." I giggle as she snickers in disgust.
"And as for Stefan, I'm sure I will love him." I give her a genuine smile.
"Are you sure it won't be weird?"
"I'm positive." I assure her and grab her hand with mine.
"Okay, okay." She breathes out stressfully, but tries to calm her nerves.
"Come on they are going to think we got lost." I smile at her brightly and lead her out of the ladies room with her hand still attached to mine. As we are walking, I spot Damon and Stefan both sitting across from each other and I can't help but notice the angered faces they share. Stefan is giving Damon some sort of lecture as we walk up and they both fall silent suddenly. Stefan's smile is tight while Damon is just sipping on his drink stiffly.
"Hey." Stefan smiles in Caroline's direction before taking her creamy hand in his and pulling her into the seat beside him, meaning Damon is my booth buddy for the night, great. I slip into the booth beside him only to be confronted with that devilish smirk once again.
"Hello Elena." My name rolls off his tongue smoothly as his eyes darken and I can feel my body flush.
"Damon." I nod in his direction casually before breaking our gaze and turning my attention to Stefan and Caroline. Caroline is beaming up at him with a wide smile plastered onto her face, she looks like the happiest girl alive. As for Stefan, he doesn't look too miserable himself. His eyes are glistening with happiness as he stares down at her face with a delicate smile.
"So Elena what is it you do?" Stefan turns to us in efforts of making conversation.
"Umm I am a junior editor at Parker Magazine."
"Like the business magazine?" He questions.
"Yep." I respond, popping the "p".
"Oh." He eyes me skeptically all of the sudden and I have no clue as of why. Damon's eyes are fixated on me as I share my career with the table, but his eyes aren't filled with the same accusations Stefan's are.
"Do you know our father then?" Stefan questions again.
"Your father?" I question as confusion takes over my tone.
"Giuseppe Salvatore." Stefan states the name like it is nothing before leaning back against the booth. His eyes are fixated on mine as if I have done something horribly wrong.
"Your father is Giuseppe Salvatore?" I choke out, surprised at the fact. I had no idea what their last name even was, not to mention I've never done a single piece on the Salvatore family at work, if that's what he is getting at.
"You didn't know?" Stefan questions as if accusing me of something.
"No I didn't, I'm sorry."
"Okay brother, she didn't know." Damon laughs casually and waves his hand over to the waiter.
"What do you ladies want to drink?" He smirks but Stefan's eyes don't falter from my face, causing an immense amount of insecurity to wash over me.
"I will have a lemon drop martini please and thank you." I request and as Caroline orders I begin to wonder why Stefan got so pissy even though he barely knows me.
"So Stefan what is it you do?" I question politely.
"I'm an English professor at NYU."
"Oh my god that's amazing." I compliment him with a genuine smile.
"And we all know what Damon does, right Elena?" Stefan goes right back to his accusations. His forehead is brooding and it suddenly dawns on me as of why he is interrogating me. He thinks that I knew who Damon was before sleeping with him, he thinks I'm a fucking gold digger. Obviously now that I know their last name I know that Damon Salvatore is an executive at GS advertising, but I've never seen his face or edited an article about him. I had no idea they were the sons of Giuseppe Salvatore.
"I work at GS advertising. I'm on the board and everything." Damon smirks as if to impress me, but I know he knew that I was stomped and needed saving. I give him an appreciative smile and he just nods in return before our waiter brings over Caroline and I's drinks.
"Okay well lets not talk about work anymore. Let's eat." She winks in my direction and opens up her menu hurriedly.
The rest of dinner goes by quickly. Light conversation fills the room, but I can't help but want to confront Stefan about who I am and who I am not. His eyes are no longer fixated on mine but I can tell he is still unsure about me considering I'm an editor for a business magazine and his brother, who I slept with, happens to be one of the biggest businessmen in the city.
Because Caroline doesn't ever want the night to end, we are now at a bar a couple blocks away. Caroline drags Stefan out to the dance floor with her hands tight around his waist, leaving Damon and I alone.
"You want another drink?" I ask him as we stare at the crowded dance floor.
"Yes please." Damon pleads before leading the way towards the bar. Loud EDM music blares through the speakers as the neon blue bar blinds my vision. I'll admit the place is wild, but cool.
"What can I get you two?" The bartender approaches us and lies his hands flat out across the neon blue light that gives the bar an electric feel.
"I'll take a bourbon and you?" Damon orders and takes a seat beside me on a silver barstool.
"I'll take one too." I request as the bartender nods and fixes up our drinks.
"You like bourbon?" Damon questions with a hint of amusement in his eyes.
"Occasionally." I shrug with a sassy smirk shown across my face. In response to my smirk, his smile brightens and so do his eyes. The bartender than slides us two glasses filled with the amber alcohol.
"Cheers." Damon speaks out and clinks his glass against mine before we both take a sip of the harsh alcohol.
"Woah yeah that is-" I lead on as I stare down at the glass, bourbon definitely has an acquired taste.
"Yeah." Damon laughs before bringing the glass back down from his lips and placing it on the counter.
"So do you want to tell me why your brother was interrogating me at dinner?" I question and turn my gaze to the handsome dark haired man beside me.
"Yeah that." He sighs before staring out at the bar, not looking into my eyes.
"He is just protective. Even though I'm the older brother he sometimes thinks he is too."
"Okay so what? Does he think I am a gold digging bitch? Or a scandal hungry reporter who is looking to increase her ratings?" I question bluntly as anger seeps into my voice.
"Elena." She shakes his head and is about to say something when I beat him to it.
"Listen I am none of those things. The night I met you I didn't know who you were and honestly I didn't care. You were just a drunken mistake. Hell we didn't even know each other's last names, let alone where we worked!" I yell out.
"So I'm telling you that I am not any of those things and I would appreciate if you would send that message on to your brother."
"Okay." He responds, stunned at my harsh words.
His eyes are narrowed in my direction as I take another sip of this god awful drink.
"You are something else." He comments before bringing the glass up to his smiling lips.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I giggle.
"Nothing, Nothing." He smiles and runs a hand through his black hair, causing it to get even messier than it had been before.
"Don't they look happy." I giggle lightly as I stare at my bestfriend who is happily dancing with her new boyfriend, who hates me.
"Yeah that blonde friend of yours is really." He hesitates to find a word to describe her.
"Bubbly." He settles.
I let out a slight laugh before nodding.
"Yep that's Caroline."
"Isn't it funny that you and I met again? I mean it sounds like a huge coincidence." He smirks and I know that look, that look that compelled me to stay and talk to him last weekend. His finger than brushes up against the bare skin that is shown on my shoulder, causing my skin to shudder.
"Oh no we are not happening." I laugh before pulling my blouse up and covering the spot he touched.
"Okay, how about shots?" He questions and calls the bar tender over.
"Shots?"
"Oh come on Elena, take a walk on the wild side." He winks at me dangerously as he orders us four shots each.
"Are you trying to get me drunk?" I question seriously as I stare down at the tequila.
Damon smirks in my direction with wicked eyes before grabbing hold of one of the small glasses. He nods his head in the direction of the glass, telling me to grab it. I give him a glare before shaking my head and giving in.
"Okay one, two, three." He counts off before we both down the alcohol in front of us. I cough a few times at the sudden bitterness but finish all four shots anyway. The alcohol burns my throat and makes my body feel looser than normal.
"Maybe this wasn't such a good idea." I slur out as my hair falls into my face slightly. Damon chuckles in response as I look out into the crowded bar.
"Where did they go?" I question in a drunk voice as I stare out at the dance floor Stefan and Caroline are no longer dancing on.
"I don't know." Damon shrugs before grabbing his familiar leather jacket and pulling it over his slim yet muscular arms.
"Okay well this has been fun but I'm out of here." I slur my words together lazily as I hop off the stool, but I suddenly lose my balance and bite the dust.
"Oh my god." Damon busts out laughing in front of me as I lie on the floor.
"Owe." I moan out like a baby as my hair falls directly in front of my face and my ass throbs painfully. His smile hasn't broke but he offers me his hand which I gratefully accept.
"You okay?" He chuckles lightly as I rise to my feet and regain my balance.
"Uh huh." I whisper, but the bruise developing on my butt is telling me otherwise.
"Let's hail you a cab." Damon speaks softly as he returns the fallen pieces of hair back behind my ear. His blue eyes are peering into mine and I suddenly feel the need to swallow a dry lump in my throat.
"Yeah that's a good idea." I whisper hesitantly and I hope he is not onto me as I stare down at his soft lips.
"Okay drunky lets go." He pulls out some money and covers our tab which I am perfectly capable of paying.
"I can pay."
"Just come on." He grabs hold of my waist suddenly as he leads us out of the bar. His large hand against my body feels like heaven, and this jolt of electricity runs through my veins. The rough skin of his hand against the thin material of my shirt feels so domestic and electric all at the same time.
Once we are out in the open street of New York City I smile and spread my arms widely.
"New York City!" I yell out drunkly with a bubbly smile widening on my face. My purse is barely hanging onto to my shoulder as I spin around with my arms raised.
"Okay Carrie Bradshaw." Damon rolls his eyes and laughs as he approaches my drunken body.
"You watch Sex in the City?!" I gasp with my mouth open in mockery.
"No but I don't live under a rock."
"Right, because you are to cool to watch a girly show like that, right?" I tease him with a sexy giggle as I lean my weight against his chest.
"You are so drunk." He acknowledges and smiles down at me while running a hand through my hair lightly.
"What you going to do about it?"
"Get you home." He tells me and grabs onto my waist in order to keep my body steady.
"Get in." He opens the town car door and stands to the side, waiting for me to enter.
"Oh fancy." I joke as I slide in before him and get comfortable against the black leather seats. I tell the chofer my address as Damon gets comfortable beside me.
"So you live in a hotel room?" I question as I turn my gaze to Damon. The shadow covering his face is the perfect combination to show off that sharp jawline he owns.
"For now, Yeah." He chuckles.
"So you like living in a hotel? Or did you actually have an actual home at some point?"
"That's a story for a different occasion." He tells me but I am to drunk to comprehend anything at the moment.
"You know I never thought I would see you again." I begin spilling my truth.
"But I'm kind of glad I did."
"Oh really?" He questions, intrigued by my confession.
"Uh huh." I slur out tiredly. One lemon drop martini, one glass of bourbon, and four shots of tequila definitely took a toll on me.
"Come on we're here." Damon tugs at my sluggish arm.
"Yep." I slur out as I step out of the car and walk over to the sidewalk. My legs feel like jello as I try to balance myself but fail.
"Easy there." Damon holds his arm under mine as he walks me up to the door of my apartment building.
"Thank you." I thank him as my eyelids feel heavy and I stare up into his baby blue orbs.
"Good night." He speaks softly with that low, buttery voice of his. Every nerve in my body wants to kiss him but I know better than that.
"Good night Damon." I speak out softly and turn away from him, when I suddenly feel an urge to ask him something.
"Hey." I call out to him as he turns to leave. His eyes are filled with wonder as he turns to face my blushed visage.
"Is it weird if I ask for your number?" I question nervously as I fidget with my phone.
He smiles fully before tucking his hands in his pockets.
"You should really put a password on your phone. Good night Elena." He responds wittily and walks back over to the car. The town car then drives away as I stand here stunned.
I am confused for a moment as I slide into my phone, but long and behold there it is, five letters, two syllables, Damon's name on my contact list. A smile rises to my cheeks, bringing butterflies to my stomach, and I know that tonight was not the last time I would see that handsome, dark haired man.
