A/N: ...

After only a few minutes of flight, the Saiyan duo reached the nearest city. The castle was clearly visible, overlooking the horizon from where they stood. The city itself was quite large, the large entrance acting as a gate of sorts, seemingly constructed of some sort of marble.

"Crude but in good taste," Goku whistled appreciatively. He had his hands crossed behind his head as he began to walk forward.

"I'd advise you to change into Saiyan armor," Vegeta stated as he led the way. Once they passed the gate, he avoided taking the main route through the city to avoid drawing unnecessary attention. Even though their own timeline would be unaffected, it would simply cause too many headaches in the long run. He continued to walk along the border of the city where some Saiyans gave the two heroes strange looks, apparently from their style of dress. Vegeta could probably get away with it, as he would simply need to place an armor plate over it. Goku was something else entirely.

He might as well be a walking neon poster.

"Do I really have to? You know I don't like tight pants and spandex. I get wedgies way too easily in those," Goku scratched the back of his head. He'd only worn Saiyan armor when he prepared for Cell, but he still wasn't completely comfortable wearing it. He noticed some of the strange looks from the city residents, but it shouldn't be too much of a problem, right?

Vegeta did not respond immediately but continued walking. "I honestly don't care. But I really do not feel like attracting the King or Queen's attention."

Goku shrugged. He couldn't really argue with that logic. "Eh, alright. But only this once. You guys need to rethink your fashion sense."

Vegeta's temple was throbbing, but he chose to let that remark slide.

The two finally found their way to an armory. Because of a Saiyan's warrior lifestyle, armor was a cheap commodity. Surplus could usually be found in such armories, free to take.

Goku slowly walked along the room, looking at the suspended armors on racks with a critical eye. There were armor plates of all Saiyan types, hovering over the ground from some sort of tractor device and evenly spaced out. They ranged from conical shoulder pad armors that were reminiscent of Vegeta's younger days to the iconic strapped vest that the Saiyan Prince favored recently.

"Hmm. Too bulky," Goku observed, plucking the pointed end of a cone shoulder padded armor.

"Too girly," he muttered so Vegeta wouldn't hear, referring to armor with thigh guards. The Saiyan Prince was mostly silent, and settled for placing an armor similar to his own at home over his navy blue training jumpsuit.

"Hurry it up, Clown, I don't have all day!" Vegeta grumbled, increasingly impatient now that his armor was on.

"Aw, don't be like that Vegeta, we got all the time in the world, strictly speaking," Kakarot retorted, in which Vegeta sweatdropped. Kakarot could be a smartass when he felt like it, that was for sure. Goku finally grabbed a chestplate consisting of a black and green color scheme.

The duo exited the armory and made their way to the city's center. The sun was shining brightly but the atmosphere was not quite as warm as it was on Earth.

"Is it always this chilly?" Goku complained, rubbing his own arms for emphasis. "Feels like Winter's around the corner." Vegeta pointedly ignored his complaints, instead continuing his trek through the crowd of people that was slowly increasing as they made their way closer to the center of town. Once Goku was thinking far ahead enough to figure it out, he could easily just use his Ki to neutralize the cold. But this was Kakarot. Vegeta would have to give him a minute. Vegeta's eyes narrowed as he scanned the city, trying to remember where a science outpost of any kind could be located. As nostalgic as it was to see his home planet, he wouldn't allow himself to get comfortable until he'd found a clue as to how to return home. The noise from the crowd was loud and obnoxious, with market stalls having been set up all over the center area. Vendors of all kinds were advertising their wares, ranging from foods to clothing and jewelry.

As Goku followed behind Vegeta, he struggled to not get too distracted by the food stalls. A growl sounded from his stomach, nearly on cue. He groaned with dampened enthusiasm, suddenly missing Chi-Chi's cooking already. For now, he'd try his best to ignore his hunger. Something he'd only be able to manage for so long.

The crowd was getting larger by the second as they travelled deeper toward the industrial zones. Once again, they were getting strange looks, and Vegeta cursed himself for not bothering to alter his hairstyle somehow. However, Saiyans weren't that nosy, so they mostly left them alone.

The duo came to a stop next to a large building with an overhang, which stood out from it's small amount of windows.

"So what's the plan? What kind of tech do we need to get, and how do we get it to help us?"

Vegeta didn't answer right away, for he was figuring that out himself. "I'm thinking," he dismissed, placing a finger under his chin in thought. Once they got whatever technology they needed, then what? What type of technology do they need, exactly?

Vegeta snapped his fingers. "We'll need to acquire any devices related to Rocket Science. Thruster Engines from space pods, warp speed technology, the works."

Goku stared at him, not acknowledging that he even spoke.

The Saiyan Prince exhaled and pinched his nose in irritation. "We need stuff that make vehicles go very fast."

"Oh! That sounds simple enough!" the taller saiyan agreed, scratching the side of his head before his expression became very serious.

"Someone's coming."

Vegeta and Goku stayed alert as a lone man burst through the door, which let out sounds of drinking and merriment. Apparently, this was a bar.

"You'll all see! I hope you all get killed and burn in hell!" The man shouted, having faced the building he just vacated. He turned back around, running off in a random direction.

Goku noticed that the man looked almost exactly like him, hairstyle and all, although the stranger looked worse for wear.

"I think we should follow him."

"There's no point. We need to find some clues as to how to get back," the prince disagreed.

"I think we have."

"What?" Vegeta turned his head to regard the taller Saiyan.

"When I first fought Frieza, he said that he killed my father right before he destroyed the planet."

Vegeta scowled and looked away, already figuring out what Goku was implying.

"Kakarot, are you saying that man was your father?"

Goku nodded. "I think he's our key to getting out of here."

Goku was helpful when he was serious. And Vegeta's own plan they could always fall back on if this proved to be meaningless."

"Fine. Lead the way."

A/N: I need suggestions on what the next chapter should contain. They'll be stuck in the past for awhile, so besides the obvious plot points, what do you think should be included? Vegeta or Goku's parents? Raditz? Paragus? Throw some brainstorms at me.
