Something Wicked
"I don't like it." Buck Douglas told his partner Dafydd Williams. Williams sighed in frustration. "You're bloody difficult to please Douglas!" he growled. "I may be difficult, but I've got a vision." He said, embellishing is words by spreading his hands apart. Williams rolled his eyes. 'What a freaking drama queen. I guess this is what happens when you partner up with a former TV host," he thought to himself. "Alright Douglas, illuminate me on your so called vision," he said rather sarcastically. Douglas just shot him a dirty look. "It's like a documentary, my dear friend. First you must observe the subject," He explained condescendingly. Then you rip away what he holds dear!" he said with glee. "From what you've told me, this man has no life. He's married to his job. The only thing that we can rip away from him is his ability to work," Williams pointed out. "Which is why I think my plan would work best. But no! YOU want to make a big production out of it!" "Look Williams, if you don't like what I have planned then you are more than welcome to leave!" Douglas snapped. "Well maybe I will!" he snapped back. "You think that just because you were a measly TV host you're something special! In reality you're a stuck up, pain in the ass! I should've left you in prison to rot!" Williams shouted, his face getting red. "I am a beloved television darling!" Douglas replied thoroughly offended. "You were a television darling. Until you fucked it all up!" Williams said with a nasty smirk. Douglas glared daggers. "Leave if you'd like, but don't blame me if you get dragged back to that hell hole!" Douglas spat. Williams snorted. "You'll fail, but have it your way. I'm leaving the country and starting a new life. You can stay here and be petty." He said with disdain.
It didn't take long for Williams to pack what little things he had. He left in the middle of the night. That left Buck Douglas alone to "be petty" as Williams had put it. It was true, Douglas could be quite the diva, but he could also hold one hell of a grudge. "Five years. Rotting in that iron box! Being surrounded by bland, commoners! Five years Samuel Jones, of looking at your picture, imaging what I can do to break you," he fumed. "But no more. Your time is up Jones. Tomorrow I start my journey to vindicate myself and right the wrongs, which you have committed against me!" He threw a knife at Sam's picture, hitting a bulls eye right in the head. "Nighty night Sam. Enjoy your happiness while it lasts!" With that he went to bed.
In the wee hours of the morning there was movement in the tiny abandoned cabin. Douglas was preparing for a rigorous one day walk. If he rushed he could get there sooner, but he wanted to stay undetected. He looked over geographic maps to decide the best route to Pontypandy. He'd have to stay away from main roads, and trails. He'd have travel over several hilly areas and go through some wooded areas. 'If I could just get to Pontypandy Island, I would be able to observe the village. Or better yet the light house. I can see the whole village from there. Hmm, or not. It's visited too frequently to actually get some work done,' he thought to himself. Douglas figured he would figure out that part of the plan when he got there. He needed to plan a route to get there first. After spending the better half of the morning calculating and planning, Douglas was finally satisfied with his first half of the plan. He gathered up everything he would need to survive for the next few weeks. Thankfully as a boy he had learned how to do outdoor survival from his dad. Although he hated being outdoors a lot, he was grateful he had paid attention to his lessons. Douglas looked over everything one more time, carefully making sure he had everything. He nodded, happy with his inventory, and went to bed. He would travel at night.
The sun was setting when Douglas woke up. He stretched and got out of his cot. Douglas looked around the small cabin. All he really had to do was leave, but he didn't want to leave any evidence. So he carefully made sure any evidence was taken care of. Before he left he made sure to leave a single candle burning so it would "accidentally" burn the cabin down, disposing of any DNA evidence. Douglas set off into the darkness with only one goal in mind. The traveling was rough, but he made good time. He thankfully knew the area well because he had spent an extensive amount of time studying it for his show, 'Alien Quest'. The sun was rising over Pontypandy as Douglas slipped into a nearby cave to plan his next move.
It had been two days since the news of Buck Douglas's escape had been announced on the news. Thankfully Sam seemed to be back to his normal self. They had found the other man trying to escape the country on a homemade raft. He had shot and killed himself before he could be brought back in custody. Since it was a small town, the new of Douglas's escape had spread like wildfire and everyone knew about it within the hour. Elli and Arnold heard about the history of Buck Douglas through Station Officer Steele. Elvis, Elli and Arnold finally understood what had Sam so on edge that day. Not that anyone could blame him. Douglas vowed to pay him back for everything, but for now everything seemed fine.
The alarm went off in the station. "There's a hiker stuck inside a cave on Pontypandy Mountain!" Station Officer Steele's voice said over the speakers. "Sam, Penny I want you two to take this." Both grabbed their gear and ran to get any mountaineering gear they would need. "Let's take Mercury Penny! She's faster than Jupiter!" "Right, Sam!" she replied as she fastened her helmet. Penny hopped on the back of the quad and wrapped her arms around Sam's waist tightly. Underneath his helmet, Sam's cheeks were turning as red as his hair. He gulped before asking in a calm voice, "Ready, Penny?" She didn't know if she could find her voice. Her face was hot from the furious blush on her normally ivory skin. Sam felt Penny nod 'yes' against his back. He started Mercury, hit the siren and they were off.
