chapter 3 The following day…. misheru and cedric were told to go and help deliver supplies from the supply truck "so where are we supposed to meet the truck" misheru asked cedric "its just a little farther ok" Dr. Neuhaus said. Misheru smiled. Cedric her black winged demon cat had shifted to a larger form the size of a horse so that the supply cart could be tied to her. Misheru and Neuhaus were sitting on her back as she used her wings to hold their legs so that they wouldn't fall off. "Cedric I don't know how we would get supplies without you. None of the trucks can take that washboard road." Neuhaus said patting Cedrics side. Cedric shook her head and dust flew "Well you would have had to have people carry the cart for you." Cedric replied. Misheru giggled as she imagined Neuhaus crawling on hands and knees to carry the cart. Neuhaus raised an eyebrow "Whats so funny?" "I cant picture anyone other than Cedric moving the cart." "This cart was found in the rubble. Its designed for horses to carry it not people. Now focus you little minx!" Neuhaus said as he laughed with Misheru. Yukio was sitting at the supply camp waiting for the cart to arrive. A shout went off throughout the camp as one of the exwires saw a large black shape heading directly towards camp. Shiemi and Izumo were the first to see the black shape Shiemi ran back to alert the camp while Izumo looked closer at the approaching shadow and saw that it was the cart being pulled by a large black creature and then she ran toward camp to go tell the other exwires about the creature soon all of them are armed and ready for the creature and its load to arrive. "look i can see people" exclaimed Misheru "yes they should know we have arrived by now" Neuhaus said as a look of concern washed over his face. He could tell that the camp was preparing for a violent assault. Cedric growled as the wind changed and she was able to smell the camp and the familiars. "Misheru Dr. Duck down." Cedric then dropped to the ground as a holy water grenade flew past them in the space where their heads had just been. Misheru screamed Neuhaus shouted "Dr. Neuhaus and party here for supplies for the survivors at camp Chaco! Stop fire!" Shura raised her hand and all fire stopped. Yukio approached the cart as the large black cat stood up and was promptly tackled. Cedric leaned her head close and whispered in Yukio's ear "Try a stunt like this again and Ill massacre everyone here got it little man?" Misheru dislodged her legs and jumped down "Cedric get off him! Im so sorry she's never done this before!" Misheru was shaking but she was able to convince Cedric to release Yukio. Neuhaus had fallen off when Cedric pinned Yukio and now stood brushing off dirt and then looked at Cedric, Yukio and Misheru 'Everything alright now?" Misheru nodded Yukio looked warily at Cedric and helped Neuhaus unhitch her from the cart. Cedric then promptly shrank to a normal cats size and with one powerful stroke of her wings flew up and landed on Misheru's shoulders glared at Yukio and purred. "That demon cat…. Ill have to keep and eye on it." Yukio thought. Shura and the rest of the supply camp had been cleaning up the mess that they made when they attacked the cart. She then approached the cart. "Im sorry Neuhaus, we thought it was a group of demons coming to attack." Neuhaus glared at her "Dosen't protocol require that you send out a scouting party to confirm that before attacking? You terrified Misheru and caused Cedric to tackle Yukio! You cant just hurl bombs at people and assume that everything will be okay if you say sorry!" Neuhaus shouted at Shura. Mephisto walked past shura and Neuhaus took his hat off and bowed "Young lady I must say your familiar has done what I have been wanting to do this entire trip. May I welcome you both to our humble camp. Please make yourself at home." He stood popped his umbrella open and gestured to them "Feel free to follow me and Ill show you around. Lets leave the rabble to their merry squabbles here." Misheru smiled and removed Cedric from her shoulders and held her close as she ran to follow Mephisto and joined him in the shade under his umbrella. Mephisto walked calmly towards the supply truck and gestured. "Inside this truck is the most awe inspiring sight that has brought so much joy and awe that people have fainted from the wonderful sight to behold in here." Misheru's eyes opened wide and sparkled with curiosity cedric flailed her limbs as Misheru strangled her in anticipation. "Would you like to see it Misheru? I must admit you would be the first person outside of the camp here to see it. Are you sure you can handle it dear?" Mephisto grinned showing all his teeth as misheru almost shook her head off as she nodded. "Yes! I wanna see! I wanna see! I promise I wont faint! I didn't faint when cedric and I found the dead people in the rubble I wont faint now!" mephisto's grin fell a little "Did you do a lot of that dear? You know finding dead people?" He asked as he pulled a key ring from his pocket and fiddled with it. "Yup! Cedric was the only familiar who could lift the heavy stuff and prevent avalanches and I vaporized the rocks!" Misheru said with a grin. "Well hopefully we can take you away from all this but don't vaporize my most precious creation. I love it only second to Instant ramen… well third really, I am extremely interested in all things Japan related. Any way prepare to be amazed!" He flung the doors open and mishears face fell. "THats It? really?" Mephisto looked in Rin was still done up as a mini Mephisto and tied to the chair no longer gagged but he was sleeping and had drool oozing from his gaping mouth and dripping into a puddle on the floor. He jumped in and shook the chair "You ruined it! You ruined my surprise for little Misheru! Im so sorry Misheru Ill treat you to my limited supply of ramen to make up for it okay dear?" Misheru's eyes did there thing again filling with anticipation. "I Like ramen! Can we have some now or do we have to wait?" Meanwhile at the cart Shura and Neuhaus were supervising the exwires loading up the cart. Yukio was checking off the list of supplies as they were loaded. "So Neuhaus… did Misheru always look like that?" Neuhaus looked at Shura "What do you mean Like that?" "Well her hair looks like fire opals." "Oh that? yes she has always had that color hair it actually has different colors in it depending on the light." He went back to watching the exwires. Shura crossed her arms "Thats not the only thing she had ears and a tail! Like a fox or a dog! Her eyes are like a silvery blue and she has that cursed cat thing! For all we know she's a demon spy!" Neuhaus glared at Shura "Im not sure you've been made aware of her position. We had her tested she is not human no but she's not a demon either. We've labeled her Akashic for now as we lack an explanation at this point. Also I adopted her as she has no living family other than that demonic cat as you so put it. THey were both dead humans when we originally found them. Any thing else you want to say or do you still want to kill my daughter?" Shura looked away from Neuhaus "No. But…" "But nothing! If your so concerned go talk to Mephisto I gave him a copy of all the papers we have for her!" He glared at Shura and silently counted to ten "Also they are going to train to be exorcists. I was really hoping your prejudice against demons would not prevent you from helping them find their place in the world. I figured you would understand that feeling Shura. Neither of them have any memories from before their death other than they don't want to be separated." He then walked off leaving Shura to watch Yukio and the exwires work.
