kisses to you all!
I hide behind long skirts, cardigans and my hair. I love my hair, it allows me to go unnoticed in a crowd, gives me freedom to pull it back on a ponytail or a braid while I'm working, I usually roll my fingers around it when I'm nervous or I simply brush it for a really long time, it helps order my head so to speak.
My typical day is get up, grab the first skirt I see then a cardigan and usually what takes the longest is the hair.
My birthday is actually coming up, for me it's a regular day like any other, get up, shower, get dressed, eat, go to work, do what I love for a few hours, come home, watch a bit of tv or read and then bed, and it's not something I actually like celebrating.
When I was younger I used to look at the other kids on the neighbourhood and admire their happiness, when it was one of their birthdays you'd see the entire house decorated with balloons and things like that, but not me. When I was little I remember my father setting up this surprise party for my mother and I wondered if someone would ever care enough for me to do that, apparently not.
Can you imagine someone showing that much love in such a simple gesture?A party. Gathering the most important people and everyone could show how much they cared.
I simply don't celebrate it because I never had anyone making a small gesture that said that I mattered to them. It doesn't hurt, well, not anymore.
To those who might hear it they might think it's a call for attention, well, it isn't. You might've had a great family, huge parties while you were a kid, I didn't and I never had anyone to share nor anyone who cared enough, that's the only reason why I would rather skip it.
While I was in high school I got to see this brunette girl being surprised by her best friend, the look in her eyes when she realised who was standing behind her was a real Kodak moment; and another moment was when a group of people from my year grabbed a tiny cake and singed happy birthday to one of them in the hall, it was a beautiful thing to see, to be very honest. I sincerely believe tiny gestures matter the most.
Because I just wanted to get that dating thing over I opened my computer and scrolled down, that's when I found him.
