Hello! I have a lot of inspiration for this story right now so I'm going to keep writing! Why hasn't anyone reviewed yet? Seriously am I that bad? Oh well. Seeing as I'm only doing this fanfic Is so I can read It later and so I can say I wrote the first Lee x Clementine fanfic!
Anyways, onto the story!
Inside the shop
The first thing I see Is a walker 'walking' up and down the food isle. Without telling Lee were I'm headed, already knowing he's following me, I stand up behind the walker and as he turns to me I quickly take out my pocket knife and stab him right in the neck. However, I get the shock of my life when it keeps coming. Lee jumps Into action and grabs the knife before ripping it out of the zombies throat and stabbing it through the temple with the pocket blade. He then grabs the body before it clatters to the floor and gently lays it down.
After we spit on our hands and wipe them off as we didn't want to waste water, we looked around for more. "Lee. One behind counter, one In the frozen food isle and the last one Is In the storage room. I can here It groaning from here. I think It would be best to leave the storage room alone and just take out these 2 out In the open, get supplies and leave. Reasoning behind It Is that we don't know were that zombie could be. It could pop out from a box and bite us and then we'll die like Sandra."
"Also, this Is a food store, we most likely won't find any weaponry and If we do then It'll be behind the desk." I finish whispering to Lee. He looked at me with a praising look and smiled at me. I smiled at him before we told each other which walker we would kill. I chose the one behind the counter and Lee had the one near the freezers. I looked over the shelf quickly to see If he was still there only to sigh In relief that It was just standing there behind the counter.
I shoved my hand up Into the air and started waving It around. "GRAHH!" Growled a zombie as It popped up from the isle In front of me. I see the zombie from the counter walking towards me and while I'm looking away the zombie next to me grab my arm and brings It to his mouth.
Just as he was about to chomp I bring my knife to his face and I stab It repeatedly. When the zombie falls back dead. I look at my hand happily to see no bite marks but feel a tug on my back as the zombie that had walked over from the counter grabs my shoulders and I unconsciously tilt my neck for my plan to work and work It does. Just as the zombie Is about to chomp my neck I stab it In the balls, then In the stomach and then I stab It about 7 times In the brain and when I feel It's grip go slack I turn around fast and cut it's head off.
This time I let the thing clatter to the floor to see If It would attract others. I sighed when the only thing I heard was Lee cutting through his walker and the banging of the one In the storage room trying to get out. I look over at Lee and see him walking over to me. We hug and then we start checking isles. "Lee. In total, I found 5 water bottles, 9 energy bars and 7 of those cheese and cracker packs. What did you find?"
"I found 2 bottles of water, a bag of 12 apples, 3 bananas and 3 clementine's! Haha! Oh the irony!"
I look at him shaking my head as he laughs before he turns serious and we turn to the counter. I walk over and look at everything underneath the counter. I open the cash register to see money and stuff it in to my backpack. It could be useful if we stop at the gas station and need the money to get the gas out. I don't find anything else so I close It and crouch to see everything underneath the counter. I see a a key, most likely to the storage room, 2 Iphone 5's with one charger, 7 pens and 2 large notebooks full of paper both blank and written on.
I put everything In my bag before I motion for Lee to lead the way out. I hold my gun out as Lee brings his shotgun out as well as he starts sneaking towards the door. As we get out I see a few zombies here and there on the streets and I see them start to do their messed up walk towards Lee but not me. I look down and see myself covered In zombie guts and shake that thought out of my head.
They must just not have seen me yet because I'm behind Lee. However, more gather and I tap Lee on the shoulder and nod. He nods back and we start running towards the truck holding our bags so they don't flop In the wind. As we reach the car Lee looks inside and looks In and sees that there Isn't a key In the ignition. I we then try to run away by running down the street to the right but see walkers coming from that way.
"Lee. When You go to the right It means your going to the country side. When you go to the left you go to Atlanta. What should we do and where should we go?" I ask him, scared that the zombies could get us. "We're going to Macon. However, that means we need to drive through those zombies! Put your bags on the bed of this truck before looking through whatever that mullet haired zombie has on him! I'll look and see If the black haired one has the keys to the car! If not the best bet for us Is to stay In your tree house until they all pass!"
I look over at Lee and nod. I run over to the fat walker and search through him. I find an energy bar In the back pocket but no keys! I look over at Lee and smile as he holds up the keys! We rush to the car and start It up. Thankfully It roars to life just as the zombies got to close for comfort. We then bulldoze our way through the walkers and I watch as TB splatters the windows.
I see Lee having a difficulty of driving from the TB and watch him turn on the wind shield wipers. As they sprayed water onto the shield and the wipers wiped the TB away I started to see less trees as we went on. "Hey Clementine. Are you OK?" Lee asked me, looking over to me. "With all of the things that happened I'd guess I'm very good!" I said, smiling at him, giving Into my childish need to smile.
Lee smiles to me also before he turns serious. "Now. Macon Is were my parents and my little brother live. I'm going there to see If their still alive. I assume you want to stay with me so here's the plan. We stop about 5 miles away from the city so that we don't attract the zombies attention. Then, we'll sneak Into my parents drug store. If they ain't there then I'll know that their dead. After all, they practically live there." Lee says as he turns sad at the last part. "We'll find them! Don't worry!" I nod back with a small smile before staring back at the road ahead, mind zooming from my parents and back to Lee. My parents... and then back to Lee. Wow. I think Sandra described guys like Lee as 'lady-killers'. The knowingly or unknowingly get you rapped around their little finger, unable to stop yourself.
I sigh and shake my head before seeing something at the side of the road. NO! 2 SOMETHINGS! I yell at Lee to pull over, which he dutifully does, and I burst out of the car to see 2 somethings that I'd never thought I'd see again. Sitting at the side of the road were 2, full grown, Norwegian Elkhounds. I whistle to them and wave my arm to myself, trying to get them to come and follow me back into the truck. 1 of them lifts their head at me before starting to nudge the other. The one that was nudged stands up, although looking tired and worn. I see the stomach of it is abnormally big and realize that not only is that dog female, it's going to have puppies soon! That would be a large liability now! However, as I look at the dogs I can't help but care. After all, If I didn't pick them up now, those things surely would. I sigh before waving them towards me again before turning and opening the back door of the truck.
I watch as the pregnant female goes in slowly before the presumably male one darts in right after. I look at their sad, hungry eyes before sighing and handing them each a little food from my backpack. As they start to chow down I shut the door silently before opening up my own door and hopping back in next to Lee. I see him staring and ask. "What?" He shakes his head before saying. "I saw the way one of the dogs had an enlarged stomach as well as was really slow on getting into the truck. It's pregnant ain't it." Lee finished, not even asking seeing as he already knew the answer.
"So what if it's pregnant! We can find your parents and mine and then we can settle down somewhere where they and the puppies can be safe!" I basically yell, trying not to think of what would happen to the dogs if we didn't take them with us. Lee, however had no such childish tendencies. Reason being, he'd already killed a few of those things. He knew that they'd be attracted to the sound of the puppies barking and that would only be dangerous for them. After all, he was only one man and a little girl could only help so much. 'Thank goodness Clementine wouldn't try and get more pets... right?'
"Fine. We can keep the dogs and their puppies but no more animals! We can't have that much noise and the puppies will be attraction enough. Next thing we know you'll be bringing in a cat." Lee said, grumbling the last part. I turn my head to the dogs and smile as the look right back at me. I pet the female a bit before hearing a growl from the male. I pull my hand back before turning to the road again, noticing that the sun was getting lower in the sky. I look down at my hands and see that they are somewhat covered in mud and TB. I sigh before wiping my hands off in my jeans, hoping that we would be able to keep the dogs and their offspring.
2 Hours Later
Normal POV
As we see the red truck in which held Lee, Clementine and their newest non-human additions we see them pass a sign that said "Oranges For Sale!" Clementine looked over to Lee and smiled before nodding to him. He nods back before they turn down a dirt/gravel road. As they drive on further they pass orange trees that were rip and both smile at the bright turn of events before stopping the truck. As they get out Clementine stops a little to give the Norwegian Elkhounds more food before practically jumping out of the truck and headed over to the orange trees of goodness. As she starts to grab some from the lower branches she hears a rustling behind her. As she glances back she sees Lee coming towards her with a black garbage bag. Clementine starts to slowly put them in the bag while Lee holds it open, waiting for them to reverse jobs so he can get the ones from the higher branches.
As they trade jobs Lee gets on his tip-toes to try, and ultimately fail, to grab an orange on a particularly high branch. He sighs before his face brights up with an idea before heaving Clementine up onto his shoulders, boosting her up so she could reach ever higher. After getting all of the oranges from the trees Clementine jumps down from Lee's shoulders, Lee almost having to drop the bag of food so that Clementine didn't break her ankles before she hopped into the car. Lee sighed and shook his head with a small smile before placing the bag of oranges on Clementine's lap as he settled himself into the drivers seat before shutting his door and starting up the vehicle.
They then turn around, heading back to the main road to Macon. As Clementine peels and orange and hands a segment over to Lee they sit in silence as they eat. "By tomorrow we'll have reached Macon. We're not driving into the city just in case its been over taken and we'll be traveling through the city by jumping from rooftop to rooftop as long as they aren't to far apart. Once we get to the drugstore we can get all of the meds behind the counter before leaving to go find your parents if we can."
"Finding any of my relatives would be a bonus. However, I don't think that seeing them alive will happen." Lee said, the last part whispered sadly. As Clementine nodded at the news she looked back at her new pets one last time before drifting off into a deep sleep.
The Next Morning - 7 A.M
Normal POV
As Lee looked farther up the road he saw his old home town. Macon. Unlike how it was before those things roamed around the town looked wrecked, devoid of any leftover resources. Most buildings looked wrecked and building signs lay on the ground bellow their former resting place. As Lee went to the side of the road and turned off the truck he looked over to Clementine giving the dogs food and water before grabbing his backpack and stepping out of the truck. He walked over to Clementine's side of the truck and opened her door, helping her get her backpack on before they shut her door and started running towards Macon.
As they got closer and closer they saw 2 of those zombie things walking around. Clementine rushed the 1 on the right before Lee went left. As Lee took out his knife and dealt with the zombie he looked over and saw Clementine kick hers at the back of its knee before striking it in the head with her kitchen knife when it was on its knees. She grabs her knife and yanks it out before looking at something on the walker that grabbed her attention. A cell phone. An IPhone 5c to be exact. It was 8gb. and was a sky blue color. No case nor screen protector, with only half a battery left. Clementine smiles before turning it off to save the battery before storing it away in her backpacks front pocket. She nods over to Lee and they run forward again, anxious to get inside Macon.
As they get to the wide entrance into the town they look into the first alleyway they see and looked at the ladder going up to the roof. Clem goes up first before Lee follows her, trying not to look up to give Clem some decency when her jeans went lower than they should and showed a small bit of her butt crack. After climbing all the way up onto the building the look to the building next door. Clementine jumped over first with Lee behind her again. They looked across to the next building and realized it was to long a jump and went to the building to the right. As they jumped across they saw that the next building over was, to their luck, the pharmacy. They jumped down onto the roof before getting in through the door on the roof. After getting to the ground floor Lee went first, valuing Clementine's safety over his own. As soon as he opened the door Lee heard groaning and immediately whipped out his knife, Clementine following his lead.
As they saw a single walker roaming around Lee let out a gasp as he realized who it was. Lee swallowed any tears that would have slipped before killing the walker, putting it out of its misery. Clementine starts going through everything on the shelves and takes anything of use, storing everything in her backpack. As Lee finally looks away from the walkers face he puts his hand in the pocket of its shirt and pulls out a small key. Lee smiles a small, sad smile before helping Clementine loot the store. After they got everything Lee walked over to the door to his dads office. Laying inside on a makeshift bed lay 2 people Lee now knew he'd never see alive again. His parents lay on the mattress, heads on 2 pillows side by side.
Lee sighed again before moving over to the pharmacy door. In front of it was a light colored wooden desk. "Do you need help with that desk Lee?" Clementine asked, wanting to help. "Yeah, just be mindful of the drawers. Wouldn't want them pinching your fingers now would we?" Clementine shook her head before moving towards the right side of the desk. As she helped Lee push it away from the door Clementine let out a gasp before jumping back from the desk holding her finger right pointer finger.
Lee stopped what he was doing almost immediately and lifted Clementine onto the desk before pulling down a First Aid Kit. After taking a band-aid from its confines Lee wrapped it around Clementines finger before putting her back on the ground and started to move the desk the rest of the way without Clementine. After doing so he took out the key and opened the door and, turning off the alarm system, stepped into the room full of meds. As Lee starts stuffing everything her could into his backpack Clementine started doing the same until her backpack couldn't hold any more. After Lee fills up his bag as well he pulls out a garbage bag and takes everything else left.
After the get everything in a bag they head towards the door that leads to the roof. However, Lee trips on some TB he hadn't seen making him groan rather loud. This seemed to attract attention from outside. As Clementine and Lee heard banging on the door of the pharmacy they raced up the stairs to the rooftop, slamming the door behind them, making even more noise attraction more zombies from outside. As they heard a crash of the front door below come crashing down the rushed to the other rooftops surrounding them. However, due to height difference Lee had to boost Clementine up. As she pulled herself the rest of the way up Lee started passing her bags of the goods they'd acquired. Just as Lee passed her his first bag the walkers started banging on the door to the roof.
As Lee passed up his last bag I heard one of the hinges on the door break. Lee pulled himself up halfway before falling down, landing on his feet before falling back on his butt. As he got up and rubbed his but the door finally broke down and the horde drove forward towards Lee. Lee yelled, "Shit!" before trying to pull himself up. As he got his knee up on the ledge he felt a zombie below grab and rip off his shoe before he completely heaved himself up next to Clementine. "Haha. Got my shoe. But it didn't get me." Lee said before telling Clementine to follow him. As Lee and Clementine jumped from roof to roof Lee told Clementine that he was headed for an expensive clothing store.
As they finally reached the roof to the building Lee opened the rooftop door, going in first as a precaution. As Lee whipped out one of his shotguns Clementine took out a pistol and held it in her left hand while holding her knife in the right. As Lee went around a corner first he found himself face to face with a walker. As he quickly raised his shotgun as a defense Clementine struck it through the head with the blade in her hand. As the zombie dropped the moved forward, Lee in the front again. As they entered a room with racks of clothes Lee spotted at least 7 different figures moving around. Taking down one after another until there weren't any left Lee kept his shotgun at the ready while Clementine looked through the clothes. She pulled out a black leather tanktop that was her size before pulling out a few of larger sizes.
After that she nodded to Lee before getting her weapons back at the ready. Lee then put his shotgun back on his back and looked for anything that he could use. He grabbed 2 leather belts for him and 2 for Clementine before they went back to the roof. As they started jumping from roof to roof again they looked down at the street to their right only to see a group of people fighting their way through the streets, heading the same way Lee and Clem were. Le sighed before telling Clem to meet him at the truck before giving her his satchel and the garbage bag before climbing down the building and into the streets to help the group trying to survive against the hordes.
Clem looked down into the street with longing before shaking her head and throwing Lee's bags over to the next rooftop before jumping over herself, starting the very slow process of getting back to the truck with 3 heavy bags.
As we see Lee rushing towards the group he grabs his shotgun before shooting at every zombie he sees. Once Lee reaches them he doesn't even talk to them as he helps them move out of the town. Lee hears a scream and looks behind him to see a lady with brown hair go down. He quickly grabs her gun before going back to defending the group. An old man starts yelling to the woman being eaten and drops his gun before pushing through the horde to get to her. As soon as the man reaches her hes pulled down and starts getting chowed on by the dead. Lee reaches down and grabs for the old mans former gun only for a walker without legs to grab his arm and pull his hand towards his mouth.
As Lee struggles with the walker he feels another collapse onto his back, forcing him to fall onto his stomach. He then uses the dead ladies pistol to shoot the walker holding his hand before shooting the one on top of him before it could bite his neck. He then rushes back to the ever moving group he was helping for a reason he didn't understand. As he put his back to theirs he shot walker after walker, waiting for them to finally reach the exit of the small town. As he glanced behind himself he saw the entrance/exit of the city and yelled for the group to run for it. They, oddly, listened to him and ran for the 'door', dodging or killing any zombies in their path Lee shook his head before he rushed after them, deciding that once he was out of town he would head for Clementine.
As he stopped just outside of Macon to catch his breath he left the group of people he'd helped in the dust. He was going to see if Clem was ok, everything else be damned. After all, his family was dead so Lee didn't care about anything else now. As Lee got to the truck he saw the bags of meds he'd left Clem to carry. Thing is, he didn't see Clementine! Lee quickly shoved all their supplies in the truck before looking down on the ground for any trace of the girl. All he saw was dried up TB.
"Shit!" Lee whispered/shouted as he darted up trying to follow the trail of dried walker blood. As he came upon a particularly large puddle of TB he saw the imprint of Clementine's shoe. As Lee clenched his hands and surged forward his mind focused solely on finding Clementine. However, the trail stopped at a treeline. However, Lee went on into the small forest area, mind focused on finding a little girl that he couldn't let die. As he started running around as quite as possible he heard moans and groans. Lee quickly climbed a tree, 1 to get a better view of where the walkers were, 2 he didn't want to die before he saved Clementine.
As he looked down from the highest branch he could climb he saw Clementine hanging on to a tree branch with 3 walkers below her. Lee thought for a moment before getting a twig and throwing it at the walkers. They glanced over to see who threw it only to see a bigger meal than the little girl they were chasing. As they stumbled over to Lee he gave Clementine the 'stop' hand gesture when she tried climbing down from the tree she was currently in.
As the walkers fully encircled the tree Lee was in said man took out his knife and leaned down. He then struck the first zombie in the head. This seemed to enrage the zombies more as they appeared to smell the blood of their fellow zombie and started clawing at the tree more. Lee then glanced over to the second one, actually paying attention to the details now. It was a woman with brown hair and she wore a faded and ripped office skirt and shirt. Lee struck her in the head before moving on to the next walker. It was another female with blonde hair and it wore a black mini-skirt with a black skin-tight crop top.
Lee killed the former her as well before moving to the last walker. This one was a male with black hair, the former he wore a ripped black business suit as well as a white shirt underneath with a black tie. Lee finished off the formerly successful looking man before he jumped from his tree. As he landed in a crouch he motioned Clementine to come down from her perch as he looked for any signs of walkers coming their way. As soon as Clementine got down from the tree she rushed at Lee, hugging him as hard as she could when she reached him. As Lee pulled back he saw tears streaming down her face and sighed at his stupidity at leaving her alone like that.
Lee picked the girl up bridal style as he headed back towards their truck, mindful of any injury inducing holes in the ground. As they reached the place the truck was parked Lee put Clementine down before flying into a rage. THE TRUCK WAS GONE! In its place was a single meds bag, a bag of grocery's and 2 jugs of water with a note. Lee stomped over and picked up the note, reading it carefully. On it, it read. "If you are reading this than you are alive and well. If you wish for everything you had attained come and join our group. If you do not we will keep it. You'd be a great help to our community and we'd give that little girl with you a nice home. Be at "Barney's Local Bar and Drink". If you are not there at 8:00 P.M. then we will know your answer."
