A/N: First and foremost, I have my first 2 reviews! Yay! Thanks to Chica De Los Ojos Cafe and Wen1! You two are the reason why I have decided to continue to write this story! Okay, so here's the rest and hopefully I will come up with more while I am writing this. Still don't quite know where this is going, but if anyone has any ideas, feel free to e-mail me!
He showed me what it was to cry
Her hands were tired, she tried switching from time to time, but it was no use. "Can I please stop now, Professor?" They were in his office and she was tired of writing on the chalkboard.
Professor Xavier sat at his desk, looking up from the book he held to glance back at the clock, "I'm sorry Rogue, but you've got thirty minutes left, dear."
"But I've been doing this for an hour already!"
"Yes, and I told you that your punishment is to write, 'I will never attempt to commit suicide again' for an hour and a half, remember?"
Rogue groaned and continued her relentless task. "Isn't this a little too much? I mean, I just wanted to feel something."
Professor arched a brow, "As did a previous student of mine, nevertheless, you will continue."
The Professor wasn't one to peek into other's minds without permission, but he had been really worried about Rogue since he saw how Logan wasn't giving her as much attention as she craved. Even after Jean's passing, he did not fail to take notice. He knew about Rogue's feelings for the feisty man, but knew Logan had no clue. He was too caught up in Jean before, and now, his mind was again caught, but this time it was in her death.
He had hoped it was just a crush and would fade when she started her relationship with Bobby, but it was still there. He had tapped into her mind one day. It was just to glance, but was so intrigued by her thoughts, he continued. That was until his curiosity was recently satisfied.
She didn't want to fall in love with Logan and she was never in love with Bobby. He was just 'there' and she kept him around for comfort. Besides, she saw the way he was with Kitty. His walls were down when he was around her, able to touch her without anxiety. It was inevitable he would steer his way towards her. Kitty wouldn't put up any resistance, it was obvious what with the way she always chased after him. Some best friend.
Now, every day, she has fought with her love for Logan, knowing it could never be anyways. The reason it would never work with Bobby or anyone else. Her curse, not being able to touch another, was eating her alive. Professor Charles wanted to help the girl more than she knew, but there was only so much he could do. Rogue's power was not something he had experience with, no, it was something that would take more time and help to attempt to harness. But after she began talking to Kurt, he noticed she opened up a little more.
That is why he didn't further intrude, but after what took place with Logan earlier, he had no choice but to take another peek. Luckily, he caught her just in time. She could have made a huge mistake and he wouldn't have been able to live with himself if he lost another one of his beloved family members.
There was no choice, only one person could truly aide her during this time. The door to the office opened, shaking Professor X from his thoughts and bringing a smile to his face. Rogue glanced from the door back to the chalkboard. Her eyes opened wide, she dropped the chalk and ran over to the door.
"Logan! I didn't think you were ever going to come back! Why did you change your mind? Oh, who cares! I'm just glad you're back, safe and sound!"
As she hugged him tightly, Professor took his cue and wheeled, quietly as he could, out the door. Logan brushed Rogue's hair with one hand and held her tightly with the other.
"I'm so sorry, Marie!" Rogue studied his face and knew the Professor must have told him. She didn't care, just glad that she didn't go through with it, but also glad that the attempt brought him back. She wiped his tears away with one hand and held the back of his head with her right, caressing his neck.
"I just wanted to feel something, Logan. I saw the knife and I just couldn't bear Jean's death, not feeling the same for Bobby, and you leaving me. I'm tired of losing people."
Logan's brows creased as he looked down at Rogue, "Knife? What are you talking about, Marie?" He looked the chalkboard over, realization setting in.
"Uh…you know?" Rogue inwardly groaned.
The scruffy man raised a brow and nodded.
'I should've just kept my big mouth shut and led us out the door as quickly as possible.' Rogue thought to herself as she continued writing on the chalkboard. She didn't have to explain much to Logan, considering most of the explanation was on the chalkboard itself. Of course, he added an hour to her dreary task while playing a Hanson song on Charles' new lap-top.
So, she didn't mind Hanson that much, but hearing "Mmm-Bop" more than five times was cruel and unusual punishment. Didn't they know that it made her contemplate the idea of suicide even more than before? Logan looked up from the lap-top to concentrate. After a brief moment of this, he stood up and walked over to the chalkboard, unsheathing his claws.
He started from the top of the chalkboard and dragged his claws to the bottom. This let out an extremely uncomfortable screech. As a result, Rogue dropped her chalk, placed her hands over her ears and her face contorted into a painful grimace.
"Logan! What the fu-" Logan stopped, retracted his claws and pointed his finger at her, "You think about it, Missy. It's either 'Mmm-Bop' or that beautiful sound, huh?"
Rogue collapsed her hands to her side and gave him an evil scowl while raising an eyebrow, "So, now the professor's butting in on my thoughts all the time now? He doesn't have anyone else to aggravate?"
"Cool it kid." Logan crossed his arms over his chest, "He's just trying to help you. If you're gonna be mad at anyone, let it be me."
Rogue nodded in agreement, "After all the hurtful comments you made earlier, you're right, I should be mad at you, but for some stupid reason I'm not."
She walked over to him and wrapped her arms lovingly around his waist while nestling her head into his broad chest. She breathed in the scent of cigar and perfume. 'Perfume?!' Rogue looked up with a confused and hurtful expression.
"Rogue," Logan gently pushed her away, "there's something I have to tell you."
"You think?" Rogue felt her heart break into a hundred pieces and it hurt.
