Unlikely Partners – Chapter 3
Introduction
I do not own any of the games/characters I mention, I just made this story for fun – I am a big fan of both this characters and I just like to think about what it would be like if they met.
-Chapter 3: A misterious woman
"This is Lara Croft… Your new partner.", said Choe.

I had no idea what to say… A woman? That was not what I was expecting at all. I looked at her from top to bottom. She was VERY good-looking but I was not sure about working with her. Suddenly I could hold myself so I dropped a huge laugh.
Both of them were just staring at me like I was crazy.
"Nate?", asked Chloe, almost like checking if I was alright.
"I'm sorry Chloe, this is just not what I was expecting…", I said, "I mean, a woman? You didn´t tell me it was a woman".
"Lara Croft", said the woman with a very serious face, then she turned to Chloe, "Wow Frazer, he is a real charm.".
The smile was erased from my face.
"He is much nicer when you get to know him, 'pumpkin'. Don't worry. He barks but does not bite", Chloe answered the woman.
The woman sort of 'checked me out', looking at me from top to bottom, just like I did to her.
"At least he is cute like I said, right?", asked Chloe turned to the woman while looking at me from the corner of the eye.
The woman looked at me one more time. "Yeah… I guess", she said.
What the hell was happening there? I was so confused…
"O…K…", I said very slowly, "Chloe can I talk to you?".
"Sure 'doll face'.", she answered me.
"Ok, thanks. Come with me to the kitchen. You can seat miss… What's your name, again?"
"Croft… Lara Croft…", the woman answered me.
"Yeah. I'll bring you something to drink.", I said.
I basically dragged Chloe out of the room in to the kitchen to ask her some questions and demand some answers. When we got there, I relisted her arm and started the interrogatory.
"What the hell, Chloe?", I started.
"What's wrong?"
"A woman? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I didn't?"
I made an expression as if I was saying Come on…
"Look, I'm sorry Nate, but she is tougher than she seems."
"She is a woman!"
"So am I…"
We looked at each other for a few seconds. I rolled my eyes.
"Give her a chance Nathan. Look, I'll convince her to go out with you so you can get to know each other alright? You will love her."
"Pfff, please. Ok, first: I won't work with her, I prefer to go alone; and second: I could make her go out with me if I wanted without needing your help."
"No you couldn't."
"What? Yes I could."
"No, not Lara Croft."
"Ahahah. Look, whatever, I'll go alone.", I said while I what I was truly thinking was Of course I could, I always can.
"Nate, trust me alright? Look, tomorrow, meet her at the coffee down the street at 2 p.m.. Believe me, Nate."
I thought about it for a couple of seconds.
"Ok, but I don't promise to take her."
"Alright. Oh, by the way: My wedding was marked for next week"
"What? So soon?"
"Yeah, I don't want to have a pregnancy belly in my wedding."
She made that smile that lights up a room and somehow I wasn't so upset. I went to the fridge and grabbed two beers and we came back to the living room. The woman was sitting on the couch looking at my frames with pictures scattered all around the room.
I gave her a beer.
"Hey Lara,", said Chloe to the woman, "what do you say about going out with Nathan tomorrow so you guys can get to know each other?".
I made a seductive smile to the woman. She got up.
"No way", she said.
I stopped smiling. Did she just say no? I thought.
"Come on, he is not a bad guy, Lara. He just wants to know if you are someone he could easily work with… Please?"
The woman looked at me, then at Chloe, back at me.
"Fine, I'll go out with Nathan Drake", she said.
