The first thing Jack noticed as he rounded the corner was that this part of the cave was lit up, the second was the heat. He stopped, eyes wide when he saw the other teen, who was the source of the light. Jack wasn't sure who was more startled as his gaze took in the taller boy who seemed about his age; his brown hair had red highlights interwoven in and the tips brushed his shoulders. A white T-shirt did little to hide the toned chest beneath, though the boy's limbs were long and lean he was not what Jack would call lanky. He was fit, wearing heavy blue shorts, but no shoes. Jack was careful not to stare too long at the boy's pants, least it get awkward, instead he shifted his gaze to the boy's bronzed legs. Blue eyes met burnished brown; neither said anything for the longest time.

"Who are you?" Jamie was the first to recover, not wanting to admit that the pale boy before him was a perfect beauty. He'd never seen anyone quite like him and something stirred in his gut but he ignored it, whatever "it" was.

"Jack... Jack Frost." Jamie thought it suited him.

"I can't believe I'm meeting THE Jay Summers!" Jack said before Jamie could introduce himself. Jamie winced a little, he really didn't like that nickname or the fact that people used it to shorten his first name. Jamie was silent though as he studied the boy whose eyes had lit up with excitement. This boy knew him and wasn't cowering in fear... was... was this boy human?! Jamie studied him a moment before his own eyes widened; this white "angel" before him was human!

"You... you can see me?" Jack nodded, a grin spreading across his features. Jamie was speechless; this was the moment he'd been dreaming of! After a moment the shock gave way to joy and a smirk teased his lips.

"My name is Jamie, not Jay. That's just a nickname and I'd rather you not use it. Got it?" Jack nodded, the grin never leaving his face. Jamie almost winced when he suddenly realized the boy was panting as he pulled a bottle of water from his pack. Sweat glistening like diamonds on his skin.

"Sorry.. about the heat." Jack blinked as the air around him cooled suddenly to a comfortable and almost cool temperature. The boy's grin was back in full force after he swallowed some water.

"No sweat! That's cool really, how'd you do that?" Jamie shrugged.

"I just pulled the heat from the air to myself."

"Cool." Jamie raised an eyebrow at the term.

"What?"

"Seriously? Winter slang?"

"Ah... I'm guessing you don't like winter..." Jack began a little nervously only to be startled when Jamie laughed.

"Actually it is my favorite season. I just don't like the Winter spirits. They're usually as cold as the weather they bring and that's if you're lucky." Jack blinked in surprise.

"Really?" Jamie nodded

"The current 'winter king,' Jakol, is a nasty piece of work. I've had my share of trouble with that one in the past."

"Jakol Frosti? I heard he was lonely..." Jack might have gone on except that Jamie had brooking out laughing; he waited a moment for the laughter to die, eyebrows raised in a silent question of 'what did I say?'

"Sorry kiddo, hate to burst your bubble but that guy ain't lonely. He has a wife, kids and friends not to mention a whole harem of fae at his beck and call." Jack frowned at that last part.

"Seriously?" Jamie shrugged in response.

"Can't believe everything you hear from humans about us. Most of it is hearsay."

"So then you don't have a temper as hot as a thousand suns?" Jamie frowned a little, thinking it an exaggeration, but he didn't deny it either.

"Okay... what about the rumor of being best buds with EB?"

"EB?"

"The Easter Bunny."

"Don't mention that around the Kangaroo or he will blow a gasket. He still hasn't forgiven me for a little outburst I had one Easter." Jack raised an eyebrow, cocking his head to one side as if to say 'go on.' Jamie sighed.

"I was... frustrated and took it out on my home one Easter morning... the hottest Easter on record for Burgess."

"Ah, I heard about that."

"Yeah, Bunnymund was sore when he found his precious 'gouges' boiled and all the candy burnt to a crisp. Jakol wasn't any happier since he likes frosting Easter." Jamie just shrugged at the last part, as if he didn't get it, which he didn't.

"So... who were you frustrated with?"

"The moon... blasted thing has only told me my name in the last 300 years I've been around."

"That's a long time."

"Yeah... well it don't help most can't see or hear me either." Jack became real quiet then. The way the boy was suddenly looking at him, how his cheerful smile no longer reached his eyes and had faded to a small smile... how it seemed so... so sad all of the sudden made Jamie feel uncomfortable. Like he'd said something wrong, but he couldn't have, could he?

"I'm sorry to hear that." There was such sincerity in the quiet tone that instead of becoming angry, as he normally did when offered sympathy, he felt... touched. Just who was this boy? Why did he suddenly feel like he should be saying he was sorry to a mortal boy he had just met and barely knew? Jamie shrugged, trying hard not to let the strange emotions show.

"Yeah, well, it's not that bi of a deal really."

"Don't lie." It was aid so softly that Jamie almost missed it.

"You didn't choose this either." The way Jack said it made Jamie wonder suddenly if... but how could that be? How could anyone not like Jack? Not want t be friends with the angelic boy before him?

"No, I didn't." He said slowly, continuing carefully.

"You didn't either though... how can they not like you?" Surprise flashed across the porcelain-like features so quickly that Jamie almost wondered if he'd actually seen it. The boy's smile almost disappeared and for a moment the summer spirt wondered if he'd botched things AGAIN. Stupid, stupid! You should have known not to rush things! Your first believer and you've already blown it! He screamed mentally at himself.

"Sorry, I didn't mean... I..." Jamie fumbled and Jack shook his head.

"It's okay, you're right. I didn't and... I think it's because of how I look." Jamie made a soft sound of confusion. How he looked? Jamie didn't understand at all. This boy was absolutely gorgeous! There was nothing wrong with the way he looked, aside from reminding Jamie of Winter spirits.

"I'm considered an albino." Jack began when he saw his new friend didn't seem to understand.

"Everyone thinks I'm fragile, physically, like most albinos are but it's not true... Still, people tread me differently... like they're scared if they get to know me I'll break or maybe die on them." He didn't miss the underlying bitterness in Jack's voice or the sadness in his eyes. Jamie suddenly felt he should hug the teen but he wasn't sure it would be well received by a boy his age.

"How old are you?" Jamie asked after a moment.

"17, you?"

"318." Jamie couldn't help but smirk at Jack's wide-eyed expression.

"It'd watch out were I you, you know." Jack seemed suddenly suspicious.

"Because you can obviously see spirits and if the Winter spirits ever found out you'll have them chasing after you from dawn 'til dusk." He couldn't help but teas the boy a bit. Delighting in how those blue eyes widened as a blush began to color his cheeks.

"Ch-chasing me?"" It came out as a bit of a squeak that Jamie found endearing as he nodded finding it hard to keep a serious expression.

"Humans might be wary of you, but you're quite a catch as far as Winter spirits go." Jamie smirked as the pale skin became a bright red.

"S-seriously?" He stammered, Jack could hardly believe it. He couldn't even catch the eye of any of the gay boys in town... to have a spirit pay attention to him... He almost didn't notice that Jamie had moved until the spirit stood directly before him; the finger that tilted his chin up was warm and Jack swallowed, eyes wide as he met burnished brown eyes that seemed to have flecks of red in them. How had he not noticed it before? He felt as if his heart had leapt into his chest at the sultry look he was getting and he swore the spirit before him could hear his heart; he could hear nothing else, his blush deepening a crimson.

"Do not doubt it. You are very gorgeous for a human." Jack felt like he'd been singed when Jamie dropped his hand and stepped back.
