Potter placed a hand on Hawkeye's shoulder. "You doing okay, son?"
Hawkeye turned from picking up his scrubs. "Just fine."
BJ and Charles quickly ran in and began scrubbing up with the others. "Dosen't look to bad. Only a few casualties."
Colonel Potter sighed. "With the war coming to a close, we can probably expect a deluge of wounded in the coming days. The fightin' is only going to get worse from here, with everyone trying to take as much land before it's over."
BJ looked down and shook his head. "Darn."
Potter looked back up to BJ. "There's only three of 'em in there, Hunnicut," he looked over to Charles and Hawkeye, "we and the nurses can handled it, you go finish your breakfast."
BJ smiled. "I'd rather not eat anymore than I have to, anyways, I'm sure I can help out."
"You sure, Hunnicut? When we get that deluge there'll be no breaks."
BJ nodded at the Colonel.
"Alright then, your on anesthesia."
By then, most everyone was already situated around an operating table. BJ walked in and went to Nurse Able and Hawkeye's table. He sat down at the head of the table and looked at the boy. Gosh, they're always so young, aren't they?
BJ frowned but was ready to get on with the job. He pulled out the mask and gently placed it over the kid's face.
Hawkeye stared down at BJ and the boy. He felt his heart beat out of his chest and cold sweat dripping down his forehead.
"You're breathin' pretty heavy over there, Pierce. You sure your okay?" The Colonel looked over at the surgeon with worry.
Hawkeye stared down at BJ who had just placed the mask over the soldier on the table. "W-what the h-hell are you doing..." he whispered in an eerily shaky voice.
BJ looked up at Hawkeye's scared and perplexed face. "Hawk, are you feeling alright?"
BJ nearly fell off his seat as Hawkeye leaned over and took a tight grip of his hand that held the mask over the soldier. "What the hell are you doing, Hawk?!!"
"STOP SMOTHERING HIM!" Hawkeye began to tug at his hand while BJ used his free hand to fight back. "LET GO!"
"HAWK, STOP IT!"
Colonel Potter could feel his head swim as he saw the situation unfold, but he couldn't do anything, he was sterile and already cut into his patient. "Pierce! Knock it off!"
Nurse Able stood in disbelief, and despite being sterile, she quickly took a tight hold around Hawkeye and began to pull him away from BJ. Finally, she was able to pull him away enough that he lost his grip on BJ and they stumbled backwards.
Hawkeye tried to escape from Abel's hold but was unsuccessful in doing so, and he finally gave up.
"Able, take Pierce back to the swamp, then grab another nurse and scrub up again. Hunnicut, you're on surgery." The Colonel didn't look up as he spoke, keeping his eyes on the blood and guts infront of him.
BJ sat up as he watched Able lead Hawkeye out of the OR. His breathing was still going at a mile per minute and was as shaky as a tower of twigs. Good God, What just happened?
BJ waited until Able came back with Nurse Bigelow. They finally began cutting into the boy's abdomen when he heard the Colonel shout to Klinger, who was outside the OR.
"Klinger, go back to the office... scedule a call for Sidney Freedman..."
