Chapter One
A Whole New World

-Another world we didn't know existed, a wonder to behold-

1st September 1991 came and Harry was found tugging his trunk in King's Cross looking for the platform 93/4, the giant Rubius Hagrid had left him alone without a single tip of how to get on or even find the platform. He looked and looked, but never found such a platform, so he approached the conductor.

"Excuse me…" Then he heard her voice.

She yelled out his name, "HARRY!"

He was blown over by a bushy haired missile, it was Hermione! But something was nagging at him, what is she doing here? It can't be…

"Hermione! I've missed you so much!" He said laughing as she burrowed deeper into him.

She giggles, "So you're going to Hogwarts as well."

"I was worried I wouldn't get to see you 'til next summer."

"Now you can stop worrying about that."

"I glad you're here. And hello Dan, Emma."

Said parents watched the children interact, Emma gave Harry a hug while Dan shook his hand and ruffled his hair. The Granger parents had met the boy at the park when they found him fending off their daughter's tormentors, Dan had been furious seeing his princess in tears, but Emma was thankful that Hermione had found a friend who would protect her. Both parents were gratified to find that Harry wanted to be a genuine friend to Hermione, and happily offered him a temporary place in their home.

"Alright kids, we don't want to miss the train off we go." Said Dan with a smile than to Emma in a side whipper, "Ten pounds says they'll be together at 13."

Emma smiled, "I say fourteen, and Harry will ask her like a prince courts a princess."

"Deal!"

They walked to platforms 9 and 10, Hermione studies the wall in the middle then runs straight at it, "Hermione, wait…" Then she disappeared through the wall.

He looked on it alarm, running after her in dead speed. What he saw shocked him, it was a scarlet engine 'The Hogwarts Express' was written in front of the train. He saw her and hurriedly ran to her side, he checked if she was fine, after his inspection he hugged her.

"You scared me for minute there." He said in a hurried tone.

She looked into his concerned eyes, "I'm sorry Harry. But at least we got to the train."

"Give me a warning next time."

"I will."

They soon got on board and looked for an empty compartment and found one in the rear end of the train, it seemed to be one of the largest ones there, and they were thankful for that, they spent their time talking about this strange new world that they were now a part of, discussing the variety of classes they were going to learn from, and talking about what their classmates were going to be like.

"I wonder what house I'll be in." Said Hermione thoughtfully.

Harry smiled, "I recken Ravenclaw with how smart you are."

"I am sure you'll end up in Gryffindor; with how reckless, and bold you are."

"I hope we end up in the same house."

"Me too Harry, I really don't want to spend 7 years not being in the same place as you. I would feel so…"

He knew what she about to say, and just opened his arms she went into them cuddling to him, he held tightly trying to console not only her but himself as he thought of theme being separated into different houses. He couldn't imagine not seeing her in the same room as he would be, sure they'd see each other around the halls but being able to spend time together in a constant place would be hard.

"I know what you mean, 'Mione. But I know we'll be able to go through this like everything else we've done."

"But it'll be so different, you know, I just can't go back to that lonely life I had, before you came through."

"An you won't not if I have anything to do about it. You're my best friend, the only person I care about in this world, I would never leave you in this strange world or any other world for that matter. We're in this 'til the very end."

"Friends forever."

"Friends for life."

A pact was made on that day, what they didn't know was that magic worked it's wonders on their promise to each other, creating a bond so deep that it could never be broken, not that either of them knew of course. Throughout the ride they spent sat reading their various books, only getting interrupted when someone opened the compartment; he had red hair, and a snooty face.

"Have you any room here? Everywhere else is full." He asked with a shy smile.

Harry smiled, "Yeah just take that seat across us."

"I'm Ron by the way, Ronald Weasley."

Hemione then said, "I am Hermione Granger."

"And I am Harry Potter."

"Blimey! D-do y-yu-you really have the… the scar." Ron had seemed to whisper the last part.

"Oh yeah."

Though Hermione could Harry's discomfort at flashing his scar at the other boy, she applauded him for his boldness. Moments later another boy came to the compartment looking for his missing toad, they soon knew him as Neville Longbottom and asked him to sit with them, soon after Neville began playing EXPLODING SNAP the door opened revealing a blonde boy flanked by two bigger ones, the two bookends reminded Harry of his cousin Dudley.

"I heard Harry Potter was on the train." His drawled.

Harry scowled at the boy, "And so what if I am?"

"So it's true than, Harry Potter had come to Hogwarts."

"What do you want?"

"I am here to offer you a hand of friendship. Hanging around with mud bloods, squibs and blood traitors…"

Upon hearing this kid utter that god awful word Harry stood, standing a feet or two taller than the ponce, his eyes turned dark and he leveled them to the stormy gray of the other boy.

"What does it matter to you?" His voice dropped an octave lower making his tone sound dangerous, Hermione knew the signs. He did not like this boy, and that term made her shrink into her seat, "You aren't my parents. Heck, you aren't even the Queen of England! You sure as hell don't have the right to tell me who I can or can't be friends with."

Draco didn't let up, "I am just trying to say some people are better than others Potter no need to get defensive."

"Well then stop trying, Malfoy. Your opinion is neither wanted nor is it ever nedded in here, so leave or else."

Hermione could feel the temperature in the compartment drop, Harry did not like this boy, and neither did she. The derogatory remarks the young Malfoy sprouted was what set Harry off she knew that, she just hoped the boy would leave before Harry did something that could land him detention. She stood and held him from behind, squeezing his torso a little, she felt him sag letting the tension ebb out of him.

"Oh you and this… this mud…."

Harry lifted Draco Malfoy of the ground by the collar of his shirt, she felt him tense again and felt the atmosphere drop lower. The ponce actually paled, while his 'bodyguards' just walked back at the deathly look in his eyes.

Harry's voice sounded ice cold, "Say. That. Again."

"M-m-mudblood." Draco stuttered.

"Look at yourself in the mirror, you'll see the real mudblood."

"M-m…"

"That's what I thought, now scram punk."

As soon as Harry let go the blonde ponce ran for it, his two lackeys waddled along behind him, the door slammed shut as Harry turned to his companions and saw the reactions; Ron and Neville looked shocked, while Hermione shot him a concerned look. She didn't like the darkness in his eyes, it was almost like he wanted to kill someone, so she stood and walked up to him.

She then took his hand in hers, pulling him down to sit by her side, then placed her arms around him. She felt him ease into her embrace, finally he let his tensions go and he hugged her back. She then looked back into his eyes.

"There you are." She whispered threading her fingers through his hair, "I thought I had lost you there for a while."

He let out a harsh breath, "You'll never lose me Hermione, not even when I am angry. You seem to always to know how to calm me at my worst moments."

"What are best friends for?"

"Guess you're right, as always."

And so their bond grew, what will come of this? A world so new, a friendship that will stand the test of time. For even in wonders a true miracle may come hidden behind the scenes.

and the Guest accounts

For supporting the previous version of this fan fiction.

To answer the guest's question: Harry was so open to revealing his childhood to her because he felt like there was a connection between them, neither of them knew it was there; they just felt like they could trust each other.
