Now then, this will conclude this chapter's Awakening Arc. Now, it will conclude the battle between Josh and Krulcifer. However, Before Josh and the Resistance begin their raid. He must travel to the ruined city filled with nature of Yokohama to meet the certain aircraft carrier. I had help with some storywriter who does Azur Lane stuff. So this might turn out well if I try hard. Anyways, let's begin!

Chapter 3: The Prize -The War Without-
The next morning… It was time that he and the Resistance will begin their raid on Krulcifer and his army of Scabs. Josh was seen standing on the deck, resting his arms on the railing of the ship of Gneisenau. He watched some scenery with blue skies during the breezy sunrise. He wondered to himself as he looked at his white bandage covered his left arm to hide the glow. He knew that Enterprise was responsible for wrapping it. Shoji was even worried that he'll be captured by the Scabs again. He shook his head as he takes a deep sigh.
"Hey, Josh. How is the morning so far?" Shoji arrived to see him as Josh around. "Is Vox asleep?"
"Yeah, she'll get up in a moment. What is it, Shoji?" Josh asked him as he nodded.
"I came to ask you to do a important task for me. We may not be strong enough but we needed another aircraft carrier to assist us." Shoji continued. "Her name is Akagi. And her commander is also my fellow Resistance member, Takumi Yozakura. He's the young commander but I promise you that he'd be eager to help you out on getting revenge against the Scabs' captain."
"I see… where can I find him?" Josh asks him.
"He's at the Resistance docks at Yokohama. The city was still in ruins from the Crisis. However, Akagi couldn't leave because of the Scabs patrolling outside of the docks. Which is why I want you to take on this task. Are you okay with this?" Shoji asked him as Josh seemed that he took interest on this mission.
"Very well, I could do that as long the Scabs aren't in our way. Since you told me that she's in Yokohama. Do you know the exact location around there?" Josh asked him as he nods.
"Of course, I'll have my men to travel you there by a boat so no enemies could detect battleships that easily. Once you're there… know this. Akagi doesn't trust people or Zauberers like you but Takumi only. He could try talking Akagi out of this and hopefully she'll trust you. Now then, get going. I'll let Gneisenau know that you're on your way to Yokohama alone." Shoji proceeds him to pat on his shoulders.
"Thanks, I'll get to Yokohama right away. Hopefully, this will help you to rally more allies. I mean, I wanted revenge but since you and your army have the same goal as me. I'm still glad to help you guys out." Josh expressed his gratitude with a sincere look on his face.
"No problem. Now get going. We can't let this mission waste, now would we?" Shoji told him as Josh proceeds to get going on completing his task for him. "And there he goes… Well, Enterprise… Give it time, we're just getting ready."

*Theme plays*
The theme starts where the sun rises above New Yokosuka as it shows Josh Spencer standing on the docks with a wind blowing to his face. Then, he turns around as he conjures a bust of fire from his arm as the fire brighten the screen as it shows the shimmering ocean with a title card. It then fades away as the scene moves up to the blue skies.

The scene starts to show Josh who was seen standing on the ship of Gneisenau as he looked down on the ocean's surface to look at the reflection of the crisis. Next, the scene shows Gneisenau herself as she was inside the navigation room as she remembers her time serving the Ironblood but noticed something as the F4U Corsair flies over her battleship.

The scene shows the shipgirls from the Eagle Union who are at the naval base of New Yokosuka where the leader of the Resistance, Shoji Watanabe who was standing on the runway of Enterprise along with the shipgirl who was standing next to him while there was a eagle resting on her arm. The leader then looked up at the sky to see airships flying slowly through the sky.

The scene shows the army of Scabs marching through the sands in the island as there was a huge wildfire in the background. Next shows the mass soldiers and drones of the Yorha who are seen marching through the island jungle. And next shows the Battleship-shaped Automatons sailing through the ocean.

Then the scene shows another Zauberer, Erwin Dietrich Barkhorn who was seen walking down the docks at the Naval Base which belonged to the Ironblood. And the next Zauberer who was seen standing at the shrine with the flag which is the Sakura Empire. And finally shows Josh being launched from Gneisenau's catapult as he readies his arm and weapons to land on a island.

The battle starts where Josh lands as he ignites the Scab soldiers on fire and shoots down the Yorha drones with his rifle. Next shows Gneisenau taking control of her ship body as she fires her cannons from afar, destroying the Automatons as they were sunken.

The next scene where the army of Resistance were seen gearing up as they were holding their rifles and other Ship Girls were ready to aim at the flying Scab airships as the Resistance opens fire of them.

Then the next scene shows where Akagi and Kaga summons their own fiery planes to attack the fleet of Automatons as the Eagle Union and Royal Navy Ship Girls joins in the fight.

Then back to where Josh takes down the last Scab soldier but he turns around to see three leaders of the respective factions covered in shadows. He then dashes as he uses his blazing sword to swing it as the screen went white.

Then, the scene ends of where Josh, who is still standing on the Resistance's naval docks. Gneisenau, his crew, the Eagle Union, Sakura Empire, Ironblood, Royal Navy, and the Resistance leader stood with him as the sun continued to rise as the scene ends with a sword placed on the shore at the beach.

And so… the Resistance soldiers were seen taking Josh by a motorboat to arrive at the abandoned docks in Yokohama… the city was left in ruins, covered by the never-ending snow that changed the world. This was his first time of feeling this cold air. The skins felt a shiver to his bones. Just then, one of the soldiers asked him.
"Zauberer, you should find Akagi at the middle of the ruined city. The water is still fresh. So here's the directions. It's at the large river canal next to the destroyed bridge. You should make it there. Beware of the Scabs… those bastards are crawling around the damn city. Best stay safe, our members will let you in. Commander Shoji has already let those guys know that you're coming." The first soldier said to him.
"Yeah, you're on your own. Hopefully, Akagi-san would be more helpful to help us rather than looking down on us… oh! Forgive what I was saying. You should get going, Zauberer. Good luck out there." The second soldier responded as they drove the boat away from the docks. Vox was seen hovering as she looked around the place.
"It looked so beautiful. But the city has fell because of Bahamut… This is indeed a tragic crisis…" Vox felt sad as Josh looked at her.
"Vox… It's alright. Everything we see is a past now. The city is beyond repairs, sadly. I have the feeling that people used to live here. Now it's overrun by Scabs. We'll encounter them when we travel our way to the Resistance base based on Shoji's information. It won't be that far, Vox. Just stick with me." Josh told her as she nods. He proceeds to run as Vox flew to follow him at the same speed.
-[Yokohama Resistance Base]-
Just as that, they safely arrived to the location they needed to be. The two came to arrive at the base where they've been guarding the Akagi. No Scabs has been attacking just recently. What he saw is the guards from the Resistance who have been patrolling around the base. To his surprise, there are people there.
"Well, look like we made it. All we need to do is to find the Commander of that ship and it's good to go." Josh told Vox as she thinks for a moment.
"Based on the information of what Shoji said… Akagi doesn't trust people easily but only the commander. This may be a problem but you need to be careful of what words you speak, Josh." Vox warned him about Akagi's behavior as he nods.
"Yeah, I'm aware of that." Josh simply replied as they continued heading their way into the ship. Then, they made their way at the top of the ship's runway…
They encountered a woman with a dark-brown nine tail. She also has long hair with fox ears which she is wearing a clothing he has never seen before. Plus, she has red eyes and a beautiful face is if she is a sadist. Josh and Vox comes to approach her who is aware of the stranger's arrival. Yet, she remains unfazed at all.
"Hmm? And who might you be, stranger?" The fox woman who appears to be Akagi. "Perhaps you're just another commoner who steps on my ship without permission?"
"You're Akagi, right? The names Josh Spencer. I'm a Zauberer. I mean… my left arm is wrapped. Here, I'll show you." Josh introduced himself as he proceeds to unwrap his bandages to show off his left glowing arm. Yet, it was lukewarm and leaves off a small heat haze. For Akagi herself, she wasn't impressed.
"Hmm? A Zauberer? I never heard of this word you're talking about…" Akagi puts her finger on the tip of her lips. "You think you can show off your proof to me with that left arm? However, your face tells me that you're serious. I don't like your attitude, boy. However, I think I can play with you.~ Don't worry, getting rid of you would make my Commander much better.~"
"Oh no… She's not listening! You must defend yourself, Josh!" Vox told her as he stood ready for the worst. Akagi proceeds to summon a red, fiery runway next to her right hip, next she grabs out her red paper-shaped planes on her left hand. She has a sadistic look on her face, ready to summon her planes to kill him until…
"Akagi, that is enough!" The voice of a young man caused Akagi to stop as her fiery runway disappears. She knew that voice… it was Akagi's commander. "Zauberer… I'm terribly sorry that she tried to get herself involved for a fight. I did not want this to happen."
"Oh… It's okay. Are you Takumi Yozakura? Shoji told me about you that you need help." Josh asked his name as he nods. Akagi was left standing there but to observe her commander interacting a stranger she doesn't know… along with his fairy.
"So you heard about me? I guess Shoji-san has filled you the details of what's going on, good!" Takumi continued. "You see, Akagi can't leave out of the city's river because of the Scabs running around the place. I can't risk Akagi's personels to do dying on me because of my actions. Which is why I need your help."
"Of course, I'd be willing to help you out. It's about Akagi, right?" Josh asked him.
"Well yeah. I've been planing out this idea for a long time. We have those functioning planes back from the old war… I mean… war back from the old war as what people called. Apparently, I believe those are A6M Zeros? Meh, doesn't matter. I still have a group of pilots who fly them. What that matters… is I want you to distract the army of Scabs while I command my Akagi to start moving out of the base. We've been holding out for too long but now's the time. Don't worry, she won't kill you. I'll have her summon smaller planes to protect you so you'll be fine." Takumi explained the situation of what he wanted to do. Which Josh seems to understand that.
"That sounds fine. Where do I start?" Josh asked him again.
"Once I command Akagi to start moving her ship and out into the ocean seas, the army of Scabs will come after her. Even by means of killing her. I won't let that happen. With your arm of yours, I think you could handle them with no problem. Now, let's begin… Akagi! Start moving your ship! We'll have to help the Zauberer!" Takumi commanded his ship as she sighs, she had no choice to listen to her commander's orders and help the Zauberer.
"I always wanted to kill him but since you told me to help him… Seems I've got no choice to help you. You owe me a nice treat, Commander.~" Akagi then summons her fiery runway once again as she placed three red paper planes onto it.
The paper begun to move as it forms into a small plane as it was flying towards to Josh to assist him where he was seen running his way through the field of destroyed concrete and rubble where the Scabs were seen trying to shoot the ship. However, Josh continues to slay the group of Scabs left and right. Some are riddled with bullet holes and some are slashed in half by his sword. Yet, he kept those two weapons that he stole from the Scabs, their firearms are yet different but it makes it more power at the cost of recoil. Thus, he handled it like it was no problem.
"Josh, the ship has begun to move. Make sure you hold out as much as you can." Vox notified him as he seemed to know.
"I see. We need to hurry and clear out the remaining Scabs. I feel like we shouldn't be late with this mission. Takumi and Akagi needed time to defend themselves while this is going on." Josh continued as he shoots down another Scab grunt. Then, the red fiery planes starts to shoot down the Scab soldiers to clear them off. "Look like she's helping me."
"Looks like it." Vox responded as she continues following Josh to assist him as she can.
"She's almost there, out of the river canal… Keep fighting them, the battle is not over yet!" Takumi yelled through the comms as the ship continues sailing on the river where the ocean is at.
"Commander… I sense a terrible presence coming to our location." Akagi said as she looked at the Scab airship was seen coming it's way to stop it. "Zauberer, let me handle this airship myself. You deal with those foolish soldiers."
"Right. Best keep at it." Josh responded back at he continued to hold them as much as possible.
And so… tons of minutes later… After his efforts went well and Akagi has successfully exited out of the river canal. The airship which belong to the Scabs was destroyed by the aircraft carrier. However, both Josh and Vox were seen on Akagi's runway. Takumi was pleased that the Scabs can't bother them no more. Atlast, the aircraft carrier is sailing free with her commander she loves. Yet, she somehow doesn't trust Josh but had no regrets of helping him.
"I can't believe it… We never thought we could do this far. But, I'm surprised. I can't thank you much, Zauberer. However, I received words from Shoji-san… It seems they've begun their move to where Captain Krulcifer of the Scabs is at. The island called Scala. I believe your ship named Gneisenau is already there. Along with Shoji's Enterprise. This makes it an interesting fleet."
"E-Enterprise!? C-Commander! You should reconsider this! Why side with her!?" Akagi turned to look at her commander. She was growling.
"Akagi-san… listen… You and Enterprise are allies. Not enemies. So it's best to ease the tension with her. Remember the time you and Enterprise were forced to get along each other by Shoji-san's word?" Takumi continued. "We're in a world where the battle between two known factions never existed. This is the world where war constantly breaks out every single day. We're trying to survive… Scabs, Yorhas, Automatons… They're against each other. And us, the Resistance… we're against all three. Do you understand?"
"Hmph. I-I guess Akagi will listen to your words, Commander. And you, Zauberer… Since my Commander trusts you… Perhaps I should repay you in kind. I will take you to this island. You wish to get revenge on that captain, yes? Now's your chance." Akagi spoke in a serious manner as Takumi had a smile on his face.
"That's more I like it. Now then… It should take a few hours so don't worry, we'll be there just in time before you know it!" Takumi had a confident look on his face but Josh knew that the Resistance are now at war with the Scabs…
[LOCATION: SCALA]
[FACTION: SCABS]
[ASSIGNMENT: ASSASSINATION]
Meanwhile at the area where the battle has already began. Josh and Vox could see Gneisenau and Enterprise there. Including the smaller planes that was summoned by Enterprise. Yet, the Scabs and the Resistance soldiers are at par each other. Then… the voice of Enterprise appears through the comms.
"Well, glad to see you show your face here, Akagi. Are you late once again?" Enterprise spoke to Akagi as she looks away and wags her tails.
"Hmph… I don't care about you, Enterprise. All I care about is removing the enemies. Period." Akagi retorted as there was explosions going off at the island.
"Commander, you're here. I had a feeling that you'd arrive just in time. Miles has been pretty busy as well." Gneisenau spoke through the comms until Miles talks in.
"Trust me, those guys are putting up a fight! I know where Krulcifer is at! However, his base is heavily fortified! There's no way for us to get inside!" Miles complained as Akagi sighed.
"You there, annoying pest Please stop whining. I have a plan… Zauberer, I need to use you for today." Akagi said as she starts to conjure a fiery red plane that appeared to be a life-size like the rest of the planes. However, the pilots has already took off on their planes to attack the Scabs. But, that plane took shape of the same plane that Josh has seen before. "Get inside the plane. I'll control it and lead you inside the base somehow."
Josh did not respond but left with a nod. Vox followed him as the two got inside the plane as the canopy closes.
"A-Akagi… I do not know what plan are you doing…" Vox felt skeptical of it.
"I know what I'm doing! Just trust me…" Akagi responded back as the plane starts up and proceeds to take flight in the sky while she was controlling it all by herself. Then, the fiery red plane flies up high into the sky.
"So… Akagi-san… what's your plan actually besides breaking in the base for him?" Takumi who is left confused as Akagi had a smug look as she controls her hands.
"Don't worry… you'll see what happens.~" Akagi continued as she makes the plane dives down towards the Captain's base so suddenly…
"W-What's Akagi doing!? Is she out of her mind!? Josh! Tell her to stop!" Vox held onto his shoulder as he didn't have time to react.
"T-That's just crazy… You're gonna kill him by accident, do you?" Takumi sweatdrops as Akagi giggles.
"Nope. This plan going perfect as it expected…~" Akagi then watched her life-sized red fiery plane to dive down towards the base…
Meanwhile… inside the base where Krulcifer was seen hiding in the large room where it was just himself only. Yet, he was patiently waiting for a moment to come… However, Krulcifer's eye widen to see a mysterious figure standing there. Yet, he seems interested…
"Oh? Who do we have here. Has my little Zauberer come back to join me as my prize once again? After all, thinking that those Resistance is trying to kill me, they're wrong…" Krulcifer slowly walked and stopped for a moment as he realized. "Wait a second… you look different… who are you!?"
"That is none of my concern… What I'm here is to eliminate you…" The mysterious man revealed his glowing white arm as he summons a sword made of light as he dashes with immense speed to secure a kill on Krulcifer. That is until the roof on the building crashed as it was left with the debris of metal and concrete. The fiery red plane was gone as Josh and Vox managed to arrive without any injury.
"We're here! Now we need to find Krulcifer and end him!" Vox told Josh until the voice spoke out of nowhere…
"I believe that will not be necessary…" The voice spoke as Josh looked at the man in knight armor holding a sword of light. But, he was carrying a head of what appears to be Krulcifer… The man has slain the captain of the Scabs by himself.
"You… you just slayed him…" Vox was shocked as the man placed Krulcifer's head on the ground and stomps it instantly, the head was indeed robotic-like…
"Indeed I did, yours truly. Allow me to introduce myself, I am Erwin Dietrich Barkhorn. If you see my arm, I'm a Zauberer myself. Like him for example. No… Josh Spencer. You must be the last Zauberer to wake up in this world. I know who you are. Along with that fairy, Vox…"
"Barkhorn… I… I know you during the Bahamut Crisis. Why are you doing here?" Vox asked him…
"You see, things has changed. The world has changed. But, I'm only tasked of killing this captain who keep constantly threatening the people. But, what's important… I got one important task by my alliance, Ironblood. To take back Gneisenau, that's what matters." Barkhorn explains his objective as both Vox and Josh seemed shocked.
"W-What!? Why must you side with Ironblood!? You know Gneisenau is part of the Resistance now!" Vox yelled as Barkhorn shook his head.
"Sorry… Those are the commander's orders. I'm bringing her back so she can be scrapped. Your persuasion does not affect me, fairy. Step aside! You as well, Josh! You still haven't learned since the Crisis…" Erwin pointed his sword at the two. That is until he talked back with a serious look on his face.
"No… I cannot… I'm the Commander of the Gneisenau now. I can't turn her in, she's on the run from them because of how Ironblood is being corrupted… This is not right… Zauberers like us are tasked to protect people. Not to enslave them with Ironblood's might! What they're trying is to take advantage of the war! We're supposed to work together! Eagle Union and the Sakura Empire are allied together now-" Josh's speech was cut off as Barkhorn as left irritated.
"Silence, you cur! I have no interest of siding anyone. I side with Ironblood only and that's it." Barkhorn then continued. "However, since you're the captain of that exiled battleship… I like for you to return her to Ironblood and I'll spare you." Barkhorn asked him with a serious look on his face. But… Josh knew that Barkhorn was in the wrong…
"No… I refuse…" Josh responded as Barkhorn wasn't fazed.
"Oh? You refuse? Well then… It appears the two of us won't get along quite well. I have no other choice to get rid of you and take her myself." Barkhorn was disappointed as he was ready to claim his life. Vox knew it would happen until…
"We're in! We need to take down Krulcifer!" The soldiers of the Resistance yelled from the long tunnel as Barkhorn sighed.
"Well… It seems our talk has been short. I will be making my leave now. The next time we cross, I won't hesitate until I get rid of you myself…" Barkhorn then retreated with a high jump. And that… he disappeared out of sight.
The Resistance soldiers arrived just in time, including Shoji, Enterprise, Takumi, Akagi, and Gneisenau. But, they all looked at Josh and the body of Krulcifer, as if everyone thought he had slayed him for good.
"So… he has done it…" Shoji continued. "Krulcifer is no more…"
"That means the ranks of Scabs are now in disarray. We have won the battle, Commander. But it has not ever yet." Enterprise nodded as she had a smile on a face.
"My.~ It seems that he's done it. I think this calls for a celebration, Commander.~" Akagi placed her finger to her tip of her lips.
"It seems so. But damn, Krulcifer caused too much to ignite a war. We still need to get rid of them all… then the Yorha and the Automatons are next." Takumi said as Akagi uses her tails to grab him for a tight hug. "A-Akagi!"
"Well… they think we killed that cyborg Krulcifer. However, we should accept it. Don't you think?" Vox had a slight smile on her face. As for Josh, he sighed off with a smile. Knowing that he's trusted with the Resistance.
"Yeah, I guess so." Josh simply replied as they walked towards his allies ever since the raid…
Then, a few hours later once again… It was once night time where three ships are sailing back to New Yokosuka as the sailors were seen singing and dancing around. Some are chatting as usual and ate their food. On Akagi's runway, the fox shipgirl herself was seen wrapping her beloved commander with her tails. Yet, he couldn't escape her grasp. Enterprise, she was seen sending out her recon planes to look for more intel just to be sure. While for Gneisenau… she was seen standing with Josh and Vox while she felt the breeze of the wind. But, Josh had to explain everything to his shipgirl. She was shocked that a Zauberer who is siding with Ironblood.
"I see… so my faction has their own Zauberer to capture me? I knew this journey wouldn't be so easy… Commander, I suggest you be more careful." Gneisenau asked him as she tipped her glasses.
"Yeah, I know. Besides, I'm always task to protect you if those Ironblood tries to kill you. I won't let that happen. Trust me." Josh said to her with confidence. Yet, she was left with a smile on her face. Vox, too.
"However, Josh. I believe Barkhorn won't go easy on you because he's your enemy now. Reasoning him isn't going work." Vox added as Josh looked at his fairy.
"Don't worry, Vox. I know the reason. If he doesn't listen… Then… Then… I'll punch him into the face and ask out for a drink… I guess?" Josh had a hard time of his own reason. Gneisenau chuckles and smiles.
"You really are funny, Josh. Not gonna lie." Gneisenau said with a smile as everyone laughed while the three ships continued to sail back in the night.
"Yeah… Besides… we just gotta keep sailing. After all, there is so many lands to explore. Also… I'm getting hungry again… Is anyone cooking?" Josh felt his growling stomach as Gneisenau and Vox followed him inside the ship to find some food to eat and call it a day. Thus… he and his crew's journey has just begun… What will the new world await for him?

Josh Spencer, who traveled to the ruined city of Yokohama in order to assist Takumi Yozakura and his ship, Akagi to deal with Scabs. After it's success, they proceeded to raid the island where Krulcifer is hiding. Only for the captain to be killed by Barkhorn, a Zauberer who works for Ironblood and tasked to retrieve Gneisenau. Only for his attempts to fail and retreats after the raid. Now, his journey is not over yet. Thus, they have to take the battle to the seas…
