LexCorp Building, MetropolisDeathstroke held his sword in his hand as he circled around the room, Batman watched every move he made,
"I don't have time for this Slade..." Deathstroke charged as Batman dodged and parried his attacks, Batman caught his sword and quickly disarmed him, engaging Deathstroke in hand to hand combat. The Dark Knight blocked a kick, caught Deathstroke's leg and threw him into a wall, quickly delivering a knockout punch, Batman then turned his attention to Luthor who was clutching the files Deathstroke had delivered to him.
"You have no right to break in here! This is private..." Luthor was cut off by Batman's hand tightening around his throat and lifting him from the ground, holding him high above the streets of Metropolis, Batman simply held him in place,
"Tell me more about the boy! The one you tried to take away in Gotham! Talk fast Luthor...my arm is tired." Batman watched as Luthor scrambled to try and get back into his office gasping for breath,
"Alright...Batman, I'll tell you everything I know! Just, let me inside!" The Dark Knight frowned and tightened his grip further before tossing Lex to the ground, as he coughed and gasped for air he looked up at the Dark Knight, who was simply standing glaring at him,
"Everything Luthor...and if you try to play me." Luthor dragged himself into his chair, placing the files on his desk,
"Well, let's start from the beginning then..."
Justice League WatchtowerWonder Woman delivered a hard punch knocking several attackers back, allowing Shayera to attack with her mace, Green Lantern delivered a final attack with a blast from his ring.
"Who the hell were those guys? They were tough." J'onn J'onnz joined the trio,
"They caught me unawares, my telepathy was unable to detect them. They were shielded from me. Even now in their unconscious state I cannot access their minds." Shayera ripped off one of the intruders' masks revealing a barely human form beneath, J'onn examined the creature further,
"It appears to have undergone extensive genetic modification, signs of experimentation. I'll have to examine further." As J'onn put his hand on the creature to move it, all of the intruders simultaneously began screaming in agony as the armour they wore began to hiss as it disintegrated along with the flesh inside it. The heroes were helpless as they watched the people in front of them disintegrate into dust. After several minutes of silence Green Lantern was the first to speak,
"We need to get Clark and the others up here now."
LexCorp Building, Metropolis
Luthor had finished explaining his role in the boy's life to Batman, who simply stood frowning at him, Luthor had maintained his innocence suggesting that he had saved them from the streets 2 years ago and simply tried to remove the genetic modification done to them. The Dark Knight stared at Luthor, who showed no signs of lying, though Batman knew Luthor was a liar by nature.
"Why not come forward about this before? They could have been a threat." Luthor scoffed,
"They were children Batman. The father wanted them cured, I did my best to help. The older brother is a bit more challenging than the younger one, however his most recent breakout seems to have been the worst so far. Just to visit his father." Batman turned his attention to the files on Luthor's desk, Lex spotted his interest,
"Files on various research facilities that I believe did the genetic modification, I think it may be a section of Cadmus that went rogue. It seems the most likely." Luthor's smile turned to a glare of hate as Superman arrived on the scene,
"Not often you come to Metropolis Batman. Something you need help with?" Batman didn't turn, he kept his eyes fixed on Luthor,
"No. I have the situation dealt with. I don't need you here." Superman frowned at the coldness of Batman's voice.
"You flew here from Gotham in quite a hurry. I thought something might be wrong. Then you broke into Lex Luthor's office...and there are armed security guards and Deathstroke unconscious on the floor. What happened?" Batman turned and glared at Superman,
"Someone came here to kill Luthor. I stopped them, Deathstroke tried to kill me, you can see how that worked out for him. I got what I came for." Batman suddenly grabbed Luthor by the collar and pulled him to his feet, inches away from The Dark Knight's face,
"If I find out you lied to me Luthor...I'll be coming for you." Batman pushed Luthor back into his chair and stalked to the window before leaping out and vanishing into the night, followed swiftly by Superman. Luthor ensured the pair were gone before turning to his desk, he immediately noticed the files Deathstroke had retrieved were missing, he slammed his fist down on the desk in anger,
"Coming for me Batman? No, you won't be..."
MetropolisBatman prepped his jet for takeoff as Superman hovered behind him,
"You feel like telling me what that was about Bruce? Storming into Luthor's office like that was reckless. Even for you." Batman sighed and turned to Superman,
"I had the situation in hand. I needed information from Luthor and I got what I came for. I'm investigating a case. Luthor is involved I'm sure of it. The Man of Steel folded his arms and frowned at Batman.
"Still, attacking Luthor in his personal office is a good way of making yourself a marked man. He already has it out for all of us without you antagonizing him. Now, I'll ask again. Do you want to tell me why you came here?" The Dark Knight glared at Superman, his masked eyes becoming little more than slits.
"Stay out of my business Clark. This is none of your…" Batman was interrupted by the JLA Emergency Frequency. J'onn J'onnz's voice echoed through his comm link.
"Watchtower to Superman and Batman. Please return to the Watchtower immediately." Batman accessed his comm link.
"Batman to Watchtower, transport Superman and myself aboard." The Dark Knight immediately became surrounded by blue light as he and Superman were teleported to the Watchtower.
