Kakuzu yawned as he lay down on his worn down hammock

The tree was finally down. Kakuzu yawned as he lay down on his worn down hammock. He picked up a glass of icy lemonade and sipped it. "Damn Dad. Why couldn't he cut down the damn tree himself? Now I'm too tired to go to work…" He sighed and set down his glass. Chrome would be furious with him if he didn't show up again. "That would be… Three times this week now, If I don't go in… Hmm…"

"Kakuzu, sweetie, I need your help in the kitchen." A very tall, thin, dark woman called from the house a few yards away from Kakuzu's hammock.

"Okay, I'll be in in a second." He sighed again. "Why am I so helpful?"

"Come here, honey."

"Okay." He took three steps and stood beside his mother, towering over the already tall woman.

"I need you to roll up the sushi for me, thank you honey." She kissed his cheek and walked out of the kitchen.

"Um, ok."

Hidan's stomach growled furiously. "Shut up!! I know! I get it already!" He glared at his stomach then looked up. A man dressed like, what Hidan thought, a samurai, riding a horse plated with small navy blue shields came charging towards him. He did a sidestep/ballerina twirl combo just in time as the man and his beast charged onward. The man wielded a sword and crashed through the woods. "Umm, ok." Hidan's stomach growled again. "Shut the fuck up! Seriously!"

A few minutes passed as he walked down the dirt road. He finally came upon a small house in a clearing. He cautiously stepped up to the house and knocked lightly at the door. A muffled: "Can you get that, Kakuzu?" answered his knocking, as well as a tall, tan boy in his late teens opened the door.

"Yeah?"

"Um… Hi." Hidan stared up at the man in wonder. "I don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I haven't any money, and I haven't eaten in a few days…"

"Hn, tough luck." The man started to close the door, but a thin feminine hand stopped it.

"KAKUZU!!" She glared at Kakuzu, then turned and smiled at the albino. "I'm terribly sorry, come right in."

"Mom." Kakuzu growled through his teeth. "We don't have enough food prepared to feed him."

"Pish-Posh, you don't need that much, do you?"

"I'm working outside today, and plus, I just cut down a tree, we CAN'T feed him."

"Then he can have mine, I'm not that hungry."

"Mother! You can't give up any of your food!"

"I'll be fine sweetie, you need to eat up and get to work, you wouldn't want Chrome to dock your… Pay… Again, do we?"

Kakuzu gulped, grabbed a few sushi rolls and dashed out the door.

"I'm terribly sorry. He isn't exactly the friendliest people."

"Oh, it's okay, really. I can't thank you enough for feeding me." Hidan grinned and bowed. His stomach greeted the tall woman as well with a very loud gurgle of impatience.

"Oh it's no big deal at all, I can make more if you need." She sat Hidan down at the table and placed a dozen sushi rolls in front of him.

"Thank you Miss!" Hidan grinned.

"Please, call me Ume." She smiled sweetly.

"Thank you Ume!" Hidan smiled back before absorbing the sushi.

"Uhg, Kakuzu, I can't have you at work if you keep spacing out." A sweaty bald man spat at the young man.

"Sorry, Chrome-Dome, but I'm worried about my mother."

"Why's that?"

"This… Weird albino dude came up to our house begging for food… He smelled terribly of blood… I don't know…" Kakuzu shrugged.

"Well what you should be worried about is getting that handsome face of yours cut up." (At this point, Kakuzu is stitch-less, but don't tell him that he gets cut to pieces later, ok?)

"Uhh, okay?"

"Now look back at the cherry tree, that would've been an astounding picture if you hadn't moved."

"Sorry."

"Oh my goodness! I can't believe that you have done so much in your life! You look so young to be 300 years old!" Ume smiled sweetly as her newfound friend spoke of his life.

"You yourself look too young to be the age of 37, my dear." He grinned at her.

"Well thank you, Hidan! I know you're traveling a lot, and you need to be somewhere soon, but if you need ANYTHING you can always come here. And if you need to stay the night, you can stay here." She smiled widely.

"Thank you so much." Hidan took Ume's hand and kissed it affectionately.

The door slammed open as a furious Kakuzu glared at Hidan.
