A/N:
Thank you everyone who reviewed. All those reading this must know that I, Willowspring of WindClan, have made the biggest typo in the known universe, that, if I hadn't changed it, would have ruined the ENTIRE story. I wrote the prophecy wrong. Yes, I've proved that it is indeed possible. *Slow clap* Good frinking work. Way to go. And yes, that was a Guardian Of Ga'Hoole reference right there. Anyway, on with the story.
The dew coated morning was just like any other, excepting one small difference. Two new editions to the FeatherClan Nursery. Dawn was breaking over FeatherClan territory, and two excited kits emerged. They looked around with wide eyes. Amber and silver gazes latched onto everything they saw. The siblings took tentative steps forward. The she-cat sat and twisted her tail over her forepaws, drinking in the outside world as if it was a fragile piece of ice. Her brother on the other hand ...
"Hey, Happykit!" He squealed as he took a running leap ahead. "Can you see this? Look at everything!"
She flinched slightly as the comment whizzed past her. She shuffled her white paws and flicked her tail anxiously. The brown pelted she-kit turned a blank silver gaze on her brother, her one good eye glittering savagely.
"Sorry, I didn't realise-"
"Of course you didn't! It's never Timekit's fault!" She hissed, turning back into the warmth of the den. The smokey black tom fixed his gaze on where his sister had stood.
"I didn't mean it like that, you know I didn't," he whispered. He sighed, wishing that his littermate wasn't so sensitive.
The dark tom turned his back on the Nursery and pelted away.
...
Happykit hid her muzzle under her paws, her silver eyes glowing. She knew it wasn't Timekit's fault, he was such a kind-hearted tom. But no-cat should ever, ever, mention the eye. That was inexcusable.
The kit shifted unhappily, rolling over to expose her white underbelly. She felt her mother, Berrylight, stirring.
"Happykit," a drowsy voice wobbled in the air, broken by a loud yawn. "Where's Timekit?"
Cold fear froze Happykit. Where was Timekit? "Outside," she murmured.
The queen beside her stiffened. "Outside?" She whispered, her tone clear with fear. "But there's ... The Nursery is the only place safe from ... I don't even know if Thymefeather cured ... We have to find him!" The she-cat rose to her paws, adrenaline running through her veins.
"Can I come too?" Happykit asked, regretting her decision not to go before.
Her mother hesitated. "Of course, you've got a better nose than me, but you must to as I say, no matter what. If I say run, you run. If I say fight, you fight. If I tell you to hide, you do so. Understood?"
"Yes," Happykit meowed, excitement sparkling in her silver gaze.
"Let's go."
...
He forest as bigger than he'd expected. The small tom staggered through the branches, blending into the shadows. The terrain had turned rugged, climbing steeply upward. The tree cover grew sparser, limiting Timekit's cover. He opened his mouth and scented the air. A musky scent hit his tongue, filling his mouth with water. He dropped into a crouch, instinct over-riding his body. He stepped forward, his paws barely breaking the brown leaves, pin-pointing the scent's location. A small grey rabbit sniffled around at the bottom of a small yew tree. He snuck toward it, his amber eyes flashing gold in the dawn's sunlight.
The rabbit twitched her soft, pink nose and straitened.
'It's seen me,' he thought.
He rabbit bolted away, leaping through the air. A bracken blur pounced as it flew over him, swiping at it with a clawed paw. He bit it's neck and it fell limp, dead. He heard the tom murmur something about MoonClan and lives. He turned to the black kit.
"Good work," he said, his emerald eyes glowing. "Have you ever heard of 'mouse hears you, rabbit feels you'?"
Timekit shook his head, slightly embarrassed by this good-hearted tom.
"No? Didn't think so ... Here what you do is this." He dropped into a crouch and slipped forward in a fluid motion, slipping towards him.
"Woah, where did you learn that? Can you teach me?"
He laughed. "It's one of the first things you'll learn when you're a 'paw, but I guess you could learn early." He flick him with the tip of he mottled tail. "I'm Acornleap, by the way, and you're Timekit, aren't you? Coalstar's son?"
He nodded.
"Good," Acornleap paused. "Where's your mother? And your sister?"
"Back in The Nursery," he meowed, not knowing what the tom would do.
"So you left without guidance or permission?"
"Yes," Timekit meowed slowly.
Acornleap picked him up by the scruff of the neck and raced back the way he came.
"Where are we going?" The dark kit asked between bumps.
"To HeatherRock, we're going to see your father."
"Coalstar?"
"That's the one," Acornleap panted, drawing to a halt. Timekit opened his eyes and dropped to the ground. Tall heather fronds swayed around him. The kit's eyes widened as he saw the rock towering above him.
"Welcome, Timekit, to HeatherRock," Acornleap narrated. "This is where Coalstar calls meetings for the Clan, do you know about the Clans?"
He snorted. "Of course! There's FeatherClan, our Clan, that is lead by Coalstar, my father. Our Medicine Cat is Thymefeather, she has an apprentice named Jaypaw. Then there's WingClan, whose current leader is Whitestar, who gained power after Frondstar left, where he went, I have no idea. Finally, FlightClan. Their leader is ... Mossstar? And they live furthest away from us."
"Good, you know a lot for a cat your age. Just a moment, Coalstar! Coalstar! Timekit's here!" He called. "And now we wait," he added quietly.
A black tom emerged from a hole in the rock, his ginger patches burning.
"Timekit? Acornleap? What are you doing here, particularly you Timekit. I bet Berrylight's worried sick!"
He hung is head, Coalstar's words bringing on a shameful heat. "Sorry, Coalstar. It'll never happen again, I promise."
Acornleap looked on, nodding approvingly. "Coalstar, can I talk with you a for minute?"
Coalstar nodded, walking back to his den in the rock.
Acornleap flicked his ear with the tip of his tail. "See you soon," he purred ant turned to Coalstar.
Timekit waited outside, chasing the leaves that were falling from the trees, battering them with his paws. He heard a rustling behind him.
"Who is that?" He called.
"You stupid fool, Timekit!" An angry voice explode behind him. "Berrylight and I have been trekking across half the territory looking for you! Do you any idea how stupid that was of you!"
He whirled around to see the dark brown tabby pelts of his mother and sister. Berrylight lifted her tail for silence. "You've been to Coalstar, I assume," coldness tinged his voice, confirming Happykit's words.
He nodded.
"And he told you not to?"
He nodded again.
"Good, where is he now?"
"Talking with Acornleap, why?"
"Who is Acornleap?" Happykit asked.
"He is the best warrior in the forest, aside from Berrylight and Coalstar, of course."
"You two must go back to The Nursery now, you can talk there. You must be tired." Berrylight meowed, licking them both on the head. "I'm proud of you both. Now, go," she ushered them away.
A/N:
Cut! Okay, that's a wrap. Good work everyone. BTW I'll be bouncing around the Clans, writing stuff that's happening in each. So, Acornleap, I've put you in, hope I did okay, I wasn't entirely sure how to do the self-consciousness, I'll work on that. Next up, WingClan! Bye!
