Ch 2 Kid

Day 72

Ten days later, after Yuno's death. I'm going out very quite often to kill zombies.

To be honest with you all, I and Yuno know how to kill a zombie quite easily, even there's lots of them.

We learn all this from surviving 2 months from this hell hole.

Anyway, their weak spot is the head. Once you stab, smash and shoot the head of the zombie they will immediately die.

They easily get distracted by noise and lights so sneaked attack or you wanted to lure them to something is easy.

Plus their slow, they'll just walk to you but don't let your guard down because if the zombie is very close to a potential victim they can make a lunge or make other fast motions to attack.

That's how my friend Yuno died because he lets his guard down and got bitten by his mother which is a zombie.

I also find something very useful a couple of days ago.

After being soaked by the blood of the zombie after killing a bunch of them, I found out that they won't attack you if you are covered with their blood.

Which brought a lot of ideas in my head of how to kill a bunch of them but still I won't let my guard down, I'm not risking it.

Still, this find is so useful, although it's disgusting.

Anyway right now It's night time, and time to do another killing spread with these fuckers.

I don't know how much I killed already but I'm having a blast by killing a bunch of them day by day, It also keeps my morale up. Pretty much killing these fuckers are like stress relievers to me.

Food supplies, water supplies, and ammunition is no problem since I still got plenty of food, water in the store and I don't use my gun too much unless it's an emergency.

I got in my car and start driving to a place where I should start doing my killing spread.

Zach- "This place seems to be okay."

I stop my car near a park because for some reason I wanted to do it here.

Once I got out of my car, I already spotted some zombie coming towards me because of the headlights

Zach- "Okay, let's do this."

Here's my get up and equipment.

From the past, we only have a school uniform and a pocket knife which was Yuno pocket knife but as time goes on, things changes.

Appearance. Zach wears a leather jacket to protect from the bites of the zombie. Indigo selvage jeans to protect from the bites and it last longer. Hiking boots for mobility and durability also waterproof. Wool socks for the rough boots. A wool rucksack to put essentials stuff in it. He has light brown spiked hair and blue sharp eyes. From all this survival he becomes a skinny man to a healthy fit man.

Equipment. Zach carries a Kukri Machete which he took from a weapon shop a month ago along with his friend Yuno and has been his trusty weapon. He keeps it sharp as always. Yuno's pocket knife, as a memorial of Yuno. A silencer pistol which was taken from the weapon shop and Yuno's crossbow again a memorial of his best friend, this was also taken from the weapon shop.

He also carries a flashlight, whistleblower and 2 real hand grenades.

I grab my crossbow and start shooting them one by one.

Zach- "That's 6, but I need more."

I use the whistleblower to call out more zombie to go get me as I collect the arrows again.

I smiled happily.

Zach- "Keep it coming you fuckers."

Zach- "That makes 30...Okay, that should do it for today."

I know more are coming but I'm getting tired, If this keeps up I'll be the one be defeated.

Zach-" Hm? What's this."

Before heading back inside the car I found one of the zombies has signed tied around its neck.

I was busy killing that I didn't notice it.

I grab the signed from the dead zombie and read it inside the car.

*BAM*

The zombies are knocking on my windshield and my side window. I don't care because they'll just go away afterwards.

Zach- "It says "We're in Namekawa Grade School! Please help us. We have food and water!"

Zach- "?!"

I just realize why this zombie has this signed on him.

Zach- "That's right...this way, you can still call for help even you end up…"

I didn't finish my line but...

Zach- "Amazing…"

I'm amazed by it.

Zach- "(I have a feeling that it's too late but since It's nearby, I'll go check it out.)"

I start driving to this grade school.

Zach- "Let's hope there still some survivors."

From this 2 months of survival with Yuno even he's gone now, we never stumble upon a survivor of this hell. Not a single one. Which is why I wanted to check this out. If this place happened to have survivors, I'm willing to risk everything except my life to save them and bring them with me.

It didn't take long to arrive at the grade school. I got out of the car and took out my flashlight from my rucksack. Since it's dark as hell in that building but first I look around the building.

Zach- "Boy, It's rekt. I wonder what happened here."

Question aside I decided to go in the building and took out my Kukri on my other hand ready to kill any zombie if they're going to attack me.

I smell something rotten.

Zach- "Oh the smell I'm used too…"

Yes, there's definitely zombie inside this building if you smell that.

I continue walking and no attack so far. Then I decided to go up the stair that leads to the second floor as I saw footprints. These footprints...It looks like they were walking alright, so that means there are survivors here but again they might be dead so be on guard.

I found a classroom that is fairly barricaded by wooden planks.

Zach- "..."

Zach- "This should be the place."

I went to the sliding door and open it. What's in front of me was a stack of classroom desk that is made as barricade behind this door.

I shine the flashlight inside and saw a devastating view.

Zach- "..."

Zach- "I was too late…"

Every child inside the classroom was all dead.

Zach- "Alright, It's time to put you all to rest…"

I cut the ropes that are making the desk stack each other and move them aside to make those zombies inside to get out of the classroom and kill them once and for all.

So I did and I killed them all.

Zach- "Once again, I'm drenched in blood."

It was easy killing them because their skull isn't that hard. One full swing of my Kukri can decapitate 3 zombies kid.

There's 15 total zombie kid I killed in this classroom and It seems these children end up being a zombie not long ago when I observed their body, I think it's around 2 or 1 week ago they turned.

Anyway, my business here is done. Time to head back.

*Rustle* *Rustle*

Zach- "?!"

I heard another noise inside the classroom, so I decided to check it out.

Once in the classroom, I can see a closet moving slightly. Like someone is trying to get out of it.

?- "I-Is anyone there…"

Zach- "?!"

That made my heart raise. I immediately went to that closet and break it open since it's locked.

Inside the closet was a little girl.

Appearance. A young petite girl who has long, ash-blonde hair and brown eyes. She has two black-ball scrunchies on the top of her head and wears a yellow sweater with black buttons and the appearance of bear paws at the bottom with a black bow around her neck. For bottoms, she wears a pair of tight brown shorts and white socks with blue and pink stripes. She also carries a small black plaid school bag.

?- "P-Please help…"

I immediately princess carried her as we hurried to my car.

Why am I in a hurry? Well, I'm just super protective right now, that I priority this kid safety by bringing her to my car right away.

Once inside the car, she asked me if I have water, I did and gave a water bottle.

Afterward she thank me and I ask her a question in return.

Zach- "Why are you inside that closet?"

?- "..."

?- "My friends locked me in the closet where the food and water supplies are, I told them to open but they didn't until I realized what's going on..."

?- "It seems they were trying to save me because one of my classmates turned into those monster outside..."

?- "It's sad I couldn't do anything...but I promise myself to survive as long as it takes for my friend's sacrifices..."

?- "But anyway, I think I have been in that closet for around a week now...I run out of the water yesterday so I didn't think I would make it today...thank you for saving me, mister."

I pat her head.

Zach- "You're a strong and smart kid to realize what's your friend intention was and survive this long on a closet."

I was gonna ask how she poops and pees in that tiny space but I'm not gonna ask. You know how it is.

Zach- "Well, for now, let's go take a bath shell we."

Because she's stink, really stink. Not only that I need to wash my clothes up,

?- "Bath? Isn't it too late to take a bath?..."

Zach- "Not at all, it's okay to take a bath anytime."

?- "If you say so…"

I smiled, to think there was a survivor, man It has been a long time since I saw someone who's alive and kicking well.

This makes me really happy. If Yuno was here he'll be happy too.

Zach- "Then to the river we go."

I start driving to the location where I usually clean myself.

Once we're there, I have to get rid of the zombie who is nearby. I don't want these fuckers disturbing us.

Once that's done I let the girl out of the car.

I start wondering what her name is since she never mentions it to me.

Zach- "By the way kid, what's your name?"

Ruu- "Wakasa Ruu…"

Zach- "!...Wakasa...hmm that last name. It's like I heard it from somewhere from my school."

Zach- "Oh well, Ruu, my name is Higuchi Zach. From now I'll be taking care of you and will survive this hell as long as it takes together, okay?"

Ruu- "Y-Yes!"

I pat her head again.

Zach- "Ehehe good girl."

Ruu smiled happily, she like being head patted huh.

Moving on, this is the place where I usually take a bath, It's by the river. A month ago I and Yuno build a small barricade here to make it safe for us to take a bath in the river.

The barricade was a wire that we surround a small area with. We got the wires from a hardware shop, it was hard because it was heavy and it took a long while to transfer it on the car.

But this barricade isn't that strong, it can hold around 3 or 4 zombies and it breaks but it's easy to repair.

Zach- "Seems like no one touches anything here."

The soap I left yesterday didn't move so is the small bucket.

Zach- "Okay Ruu, strip."

Ruu- "Strip?"

I forgot she's a grade schooler, although even she is one, she's quick on the uptake which makes her a smart and strong girl.

By strong I mean strong mentality. A girl on her age could have gotten a trauma and go crazy if they don't have a strong mentality.

I and Yuno have a strong mentality, that's why we suffer less trauma from the firsts day of this hell hole and supported each other so we won't get crazy and survive.

Zach- "Take out all your clothes, because we're going to take a bath."

She starts blushing.

Ruu- "Ain't taking a bath outside embarrassing?"

Zach- "Well yes from the pasted but right now it's isn't like that anymore. Come on just take out all of your clothes, no one is watching us and I'm going into trouble washing you too."

Ruu- "...You'll not do anything wired?"

Zach- "Do I look like a man who has time to do anything wired to you?"

Zach- "Come on, I need to take a bath too after you."

She listens as she nervously took out her clothes. This is really considered illegal, if someone saw this, they will think I'm a pedophile and stop this but I have no interest in little girls.

My words were the truth. I'm gonna wash her myself because she's stink like hell and I want to finish this as soon as possible so I could get naked and take a bath too.

And so I washed her body with the soap I have and the small bucket of water that is always refillable because of the river beside us.

Ruu- "C-Cold…"

Zach- "Get used to it."

After she finished, I went to my car trunk and grab my own towel and use it to wipe her body and her hair dry.

Zach- "Hey Ruu, you're hair seems to be very long."

Zach- "Mind if I cut it?"

Ruu- "Why?"

Zach- "Well, a zombie could grab your long hair and pull you over as they eat you alive."

Zach- "You don't want that do you."

She nods continuously.

Zach- "Alright, I'll grab some spare clothes for you to wear and I'll start with the cutting."

And so I did. She's wearing my t-shirt while she doesn't get anything under which makes her a little bit cold but I'll lend her the other jacket that I got in my trunk later to keep herself warm after I cut her hair.

I don't have any scissors but I'll be using Yuno's pocket knife to the cut the hair.

While cutting the hair with a pocket knife Ruu questions me something.

Ruu- "Zach...are those monster name Zombie?"

Ruu- "You have been calling them that so...I was wondering if that's their real name."

Zach- "That's isn't their real name. My close friend and I just decided to call them that."

Zach- "The same thing goes with you by calling them monsters."

Ruu- "Hmm…"

Zach- "Okay that should do it."

Ruu- "My hair is short now…"

Zach- "Haha don't worry it's safer for you now."

Appearance. Ruu, A young petite girl who has neck length ash-blonde hair and brown eyes. Wears a black t-shirt and later my spare jacket. For bottoms, she got none but huge slippers which was mine.

Zach- "Alright It's time for me to take a bath."

Zach- "Ruu, you'll be my lookout. Just tell me if there's a zombie coming toward us and I'll shoot it with my crossbow which I have on my side."

Ruu- "Y-Yes…"

Zach- "And here."

I lend her the jacket.

Zach- "Wear it before you get yourself cold."

Ruu- "Thank you, Zach."

She immediately wears it and I get naked in front of her. She turns around blushfully.

Zach- "Hey, during this era, there's no shame involved. So don't get blushy over there and deal with it."

Ruu- "Y-Yes I will."

I don't care if I showed my body to other people, like seriously there's no shame involved in this era. What matter is get yourself clean for survival because cleaning yourself, makes you get sick less which is why this is important.

Afterward, I dried myself with a towel and wear a t-shirt as I got only an underwear under me.

Ruu- "Are we staying here for tonight?"

Zach- "(She looks drowsy...I guess I'll just do this tomorrow.)"

Zach- "No were heading back to my home."

Ruu- "Okay…"

I was gonna wash our clothes in the river but if the girl wants to sleep I should let her do so but not here.

We got in the car and left the place as I head back to my house which is a fortify convenience store.

On that day I gain myself another companion.
