A/N: When I started watching the series, I didn't like Mimi. I loved her by the end. However, Stanley seems like the type of guy who would have married his high school girlfriend and settled down right out of school. This is my take on that. Any suggestions/comments welcome!

Stanley was racing towards home. It was Thanksgiving break and he hadn't been home since September. His parents had come to a few games and Missy had been to a few more but he hadn't really been able to spend any time with them. Maybe supper after the game was all. Coach was strict about curfew. Even after games, they were expected to be back in the dorms by midnight and to show up for Saturday practice. Some of the older guys had said it would get better when the season was over, but so far college was not for him. He loved playing football, but he hated being in city, he hated the classes. He missed working on the farm, something he thought he would never do. He missed his family and most of all he missed Missy. He didn't want to go back in the spring and he didn't know how to tell his dad that. He was the first male in his family to go to college. He had an Aunt that was a teacher and a cousin that was an accountant, but that was it for his family and college. The money had just never been there and besides, all the boys were needed to work the farm. Truth was the money wouldn't be there for Stanley either, if it wasn't for football. He had a full ride and his dad hadn't let him forget it.
"Keep your grades up, Stan," Mark would say. "You'll make it off this piece dirt."
"Keep your focus, son. They don't give scholarships to the guy who lets easy passes sail right by him."
"You watch that girl, Boy. You screw around and get her pregnant and everything we've worked for will be out the window faster than you can spit."
He didn't have the heart to tell his dad that without Missy, he'd have probably flunked out senior year instead of going off to UK. There was a reason he majored in agriculture instead of business after all.
He knew he should head home, but the prospect of having to face his dad and the desire to see Missy had him turning towards Jericho instead of home. He smiled as he pulled into the high school parking lot. Ten more minutes and Missy would be out for Thanksgiving break.
Missy saw Stanley leaning against his truck when she walked out of her last class. She squealed and ran to him.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, throwing her arms around his neck. "I thought you weren't going to be back until tomorrow!"
"Coach let us out of our last practice and I couldn't wait to see you," he replied. He kissed her deeply. "What are your plans tonight?"
"Well, I did have an exciting night of helping Mom cook for tomorrow and listening to Jake and Eric argue over whether crop dusting for Grandpa is a real job if Jake is using Grandpa's plane, fuel, and chemicals to do so."
"They're still at it?"
"Never stopped. Jake doesn't have a real job because he works for Grandpa and Eric doesn't have a real job because Daddy pretty much made Anderson hire him to keep books at the quarry," She replied.
"Want to go with me to Rogue River?" He asked. "Maybe see a movie or something?"
She pretended to think about it. "It is kind of late notice," she teased.
"Hey, if you have a better offer..,"
"Of course."
Missy woke up upside down, her seat belt holding her in place. Her head hurt like crazy and her wrist was at an odd angle and it hurt to wiggle her fingers. She braced herself, then released the seatbelt and fell awkwardly to the roof of the truck. She crawled out and reassessed her injuries. She had a headache, her hips were sore from hanging upside down in the seatbelt and she was sure that she had broken her wrist.
She looked for smoke or flames before deciding that it was safe to go back in her truck to salvage her medical supplies. It wasn't much, but she always carried an EMT bag, extra blanket, and some water with her. The 2 hour drive between Rogue River and her house could be brutal in the winter and one had to be prepared to spend some time on the side of the road, waiting out a snow storm.
After retrieving her supplies and splinted her wrist, she hoisted the bag and decided to walk. She was still an hour and half from home and her phone wasn't showing any signs of working anytime soon.
