It wasn't by accident per say by all means it was clearly intentional from the hostile vibes the ten year old was emitting to the eleven year old arrogant asshole in front of her who the nerve to- to insult her brother just for acting like the gentleman their parents raised him to be, unlike this blonde asshole in front of her- something that she was thankful that her parents- bless their departed souls taught them good morals. Mirajane had only heard bits and pieces, but it was enough to get her blood boiling. Not to mention it was over something so trivial!

"How dare you-"

"How dare me? How dare you for picking on someone just because of their choices!"

"Why you- I'm Makarov's grandson." He objected while Mirajane raised a brow as his somewhat shocked face as the blonde said those words like it meant something.

"So what?" If he wasn't surprised then he was now with the wide eyed look on his face before scowling like an immature brat that he was- opening his mouth to probably bite back Mirajane cut him off.

"You're your own person. Quite frankly I don't give a damn about who you are, you punk bastard. What I do give a damn about is that you mocked my little brother." She stated with a hand to her hip as the older teen stared in shock while ignoring the fact that cooled hot tea was still rolling like little beads of liquid down his face. "Now apologize."

"What?" the blond said indignantly.

"Apologize." The duo stared at each other with tension thickening in the air. Elfman gulp audibly knowing his sister things can get ugly really quickly. the 'punk bastard' was the first to yield.

"Er- Elfman, was it?" The tanned white spiky haired boy nodded as the blonde awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck as quickly said, "I'msorry."

Then he scurried off leaving the siblings blinking in surprise.

Laxus could remember that moment vividly, because it was the moment he started taking an interest in her.

The duo, now on the couch reeled back from their shared memories. Mirajane smiled even though it was a small frail one Laxus knew it was better than nothing at all. The blonde hesitantly wrapped his arms around her waist as she leaned back into the warmth of his chest.

"You know," Laxus paused as Miraane turned to the sound of his voice, "I think that was the moment I wanted to be friends with you- though I was a complete idiot at the time."

"I dumped tea- hot tea on your head, Laxus and yes you were an idiot." Mirajane smiled with mirth as Laxus with his chin on top of her head admitted, "I was pissed, but it was the first time someone saw me not as the police station chief's grandson, but as a brat of a boy. I don't think I got to say this, but thank you."

Mirajane blinked at his sincere thanks before protesting, "All I did was call you out on your stupidity."

"But your words helped me with my inferiority." The white haired beauty stayed quiet for a moment before saying, "Actually I should be saying those words to you. Thank you for trying to help me out of my grief just now."

"Ah. So you figured me out?" Laxus rubbed the back of his neck as she smiled, it still had a tint of sadness, but it was still bright nevertheless. "It wasn't that hard."

"Then- uh your welcome." He gestured with his hands as Mirajane stood up and glanced to him. "Want anything? I assume you didn't come over here for nothing."

Laxus blinked and pondered for a moment. There wasn't anything he wanted physically, but- "I just wanted to you smile that's all, Mira."

The moment those words left his mouth, Laxus definitely felt awkward in saying something so intimate towards her. Then the blonde quickly added, "And maybe some of your chamomile tea."

"One chamomile tea, coming right up!" Mirajane quickly moved to the kitchen to prep while she did so Laxus relaxed at her exit, but could help but notice that she didn't act on his previous words before his request. As she prepped the boiling water, Laxus heard the clinks of the dishes as they were and the sound of her humming a song that he quickly fell into a slumber.

Moments later Mirajane came back to the sight of Laxus sleeping on her couch. Smiling softly at the soft unguarded sight of the usually exhausted detective, Mirajane placing a cup of chamomile tea on top of her coffee table which was next to the soft lavender pillowed couch she owned, she went to her bedroom for another moment and came back out with a folded black and white stripped blanket. Unfurling it over Laxus's tall frame, Mirajane glanced up to his face that luckily wasn't sporting a scowl or furrowed brows before trailing over to the night sky covered by her thin curtains.

She never meant to break down in front of him like that- but the way he made her feel in his arms that- comforting reassurance, she was lucky to have him for that. Though she never expected the same annoying snotty brat would be- for lack of better words- a stabilizing presence in her life within these past months. And those words about just wanting her to smile- He made her feel like a lovesick high school girl all over again, but she wouldn't get her hopes over something so trivial as wanting to see her smile. She wasn't that naive, but a small part of her did hope that he felt the same ways as she did him. Mirajane wasn't sure wen this crush started, but she knew it started to occur wit his visits and his more honest persona.

"...I love you." In an instant, she covered her mouth feeling the alienation of those words across her tongue. Her eyes quickly glanced down to a pair of stunned orange eyes. Her voice held all the fragility of a glass menagerie, "I thought you were asleep."

"...Just resting my eyes." There wasn't any awkwardness, just a slight tense of realization before Laxus replied, "I love you too. Mira."
