After running for what seemed like a 5k, the boys finally at the famous video game store that Cartman was going on about. It was a small shop that looked like it was worn down from the chipped blue paint on the outer walls. The windows were pretty massive but had a few scratches running down in a massive amount of diagonal lines. In the inside, there were some consoles lined up against the wall for some individuals to test the new systems and the racks were neatly organized based on alphabet and system. On a normal day, this little shop would have a few customers here and there and there would be no lines to pay or even try any of the games. In fact, it was a shop that was mostly established for the incoming or ancient gamer, creating a few regulars in the process.
However, today was not a typical day. There was an entire mob of people in and out of the shop and all of them were trying to push towards the front of the store. People were being hit left and right, almost as if there was a famous celebrity giving out a million dollars inside. Kyle, Stan, and Kyle all stood a couple of feet behind the crowd looking at everyone in complete and utter shock. Even though they didn't say anything, one could tell that they all the same thoughts by the identical look that were plastered on their faces. Only Cartman looked relaxed and confident as he looked around for someone.
"See! What did I tell you guys? You guys should listen to me more." Boasted Cartman as he looked back at his friends with his arms crossed firmly in front of his chest.
"Dude, look how many people are here." Said Stan, looking at the people fighting to get to the front.
"[Yea, getting to the front will take hours!]" exclaimed Kenny as he copied to same motion as Stan.
Cartman scoffed at their replies. "Don't worry about that you guys. I've got this all down." And, with that, he pushed through the crowd to enter the front. Not wanting to get lost from Cartman, the rest of the boys also pushed people to get to where Cartman was heading, creating many jealous and angry faces as they followed him. Cartman ended up stopping really close to the front of the line. Standing there was Butters, slightly tap dancing with his feet to pass the time and his anxiousness.
When he saw the 4 boys coming his way, Butters immediately lit up like a bunch of Christmas lights. Butters hated the feeling of being by himself and he was absolutely afraid that Cartman had abandoned him once again, leaving him to experience the Virtual Reality by himself where anything could go wrong and he could be grounded by his parents. But alas, there they were, coming his way to join him on their adventure. He waved at them as they grew closer. "Hey fellas! You guys came right on time!"
"Yea, yea. How long do we have to wait even more?" asked Cartman in an anxious and dismissive tone. He was severely excited to try this machine out and get Kyle to try it too so he could kick his ass over and over in that world. Cartman heard tons of amazing things about this system and he couldn't wait to get his greedy hands over it and make everyone, including Kyle, jealous.
Looking at his watch, Butters responded, "Well the man said it'd be our turn in 10 minutes, and well, geez wiz, he said that 10 minutes ago so-"
"Hello and welcome to our new Virtual Reality system! Today, you can guys can your first glimpse into this system and see yourself how this virtual reality works. Any questions before I bring in the next batch?" bellowed out the store owner. Never had he had a position like this and he was just very excited to entertain these kids. The boys and few others behind them shook their head. "Alright kiddos, let's get started then!" He then began to count up to 25 kids and then acted as a tour guide to bring the kids to the systems that were in a separate.
Entering into the room, there were 25 chairs lined up either next to or facing each other. The chairs were the type that laid the person flat and to the right of each chair was a huge helmet thing that was connected towards the top. Everyone looked at each other in confusion before settling into their seats. The 5 boys sat next each other, Stan, Kyle, Kenny, Cartman, Butters, respectively, and all of them waited to hear more instructions. Silence filled the room as they all waited patiently for the store keeper to prepare the systems.
After a few minutes of fiddling around with the control panel located at the back of the room, the store keeper went into the middle room, looked at the kids, and smiled. "Hello again to the trial of the VR 100. In today's session, you'll be testing out these new systems so you can see for yourself how these things work. The company and myself hope you have an amazing time today." With that, the man went back to the control panel and pressed a few buttons. "Alright, now, what I want you to do is to put on your VR helmet. All you have to do is just pull it down to head. Make it sure it covers everything." Silently, everyone in the room pulled down their helmets and adjusted them to fit the instructions that were just given to them. Everything inside the helmet was dark and suffocating. It felt as if they all entered in a realm of darkness and had no way of getting out. When everyone was finished and ready, the keeper went on. "Alright, now, before you begin, I need to give you guys a few rules to follow.
1. You will be online with other people from around the world. Treat everyone with respect and do not randomly kill. Kill the designated characters.
2. No secret cheat codes allowed. Anyone caught using them will be banned from using the server.
3. In order to buy something in this world, you'll need to do missions in order to gain it. You may not steal from other players. Doing so will result in you getting banned.
4. As for teams, you can have as many people as you want in your team. However, in battle, the max number of people that can fight is 5 and you can only fight with that many if the other team fights with 5. If you get challenged by a 3 person team, you can only fight with 3 people from your team. More on actual gameplay as you continue playing the game.
5. This is a timed simulation. You must stay connected for as long as the time limit. You can't exit out early for whatever reason.
6. Have fun kiddos
Now everyone, close your eyes and don't open them until I tell you to do so." Eager, everyone in unison closed their eyes and fidgeted to get started. This was a new and exciting experience for everyone and no one could wait any longer. They all could hear a few more buttons being pushed and then they could feel their helmets vibrating for a bit and then, suddenly, a gust of wind blew over their faces, freezing their heads for a bit.
"Now…you may open your eyes."
Simultaneously, everyone opened up their eyes and gasped at the world that they saw before them.
