Chapter 3

If she was to state one of the few things she hated, it was this: having a night class. Waking up early was already a struggle for her top course and especially if she wanted to maintain her full scholarship. She was sitting on her assigned seat, 3rd row( there are four rows in the classroom) and 3rd column (the columns matiching the number of rows). She was in the aisle part and she can basically see whatever it was written on the board. Her right hand scribbling notes on her gray notebook, looking at the whiteboard once in awhile. She listened to her professor taught about something about the lungs of an infant.

She glanced at her wristwatch, time is testing her patience so was her professor. She expected to be dismissed around 7:15 in the evening, as her professor always did to their classbut it's now 7:20. Some of her classmates were already secretly sleeping, some were barely awake and bored and tired. She was tired as well, having straight evening classes was very difficult.

"Class dismissed." The two words her professor said brought her back to reality. She hurriedly placed her notebook inside her bag and so was her pen, as if just throwing it to her bag. Well, at least her precious pen was there. She slipped on her backpack and took her medical book with her. She glanced at her wristwatch again before lightly running off downstairs so that she wouldn't slip from running on the shiny and slippery tiles. She made her way just a few steps outside the small gate, the said gate was made of metal, painted red and standing 8 feet. She stopped on her tracks to regain her composure. She was panting hard, hair disheveled as if she went from a war and eyeglasses barely in there rightful place. She adjusted herself first before walking at a normal pace.

He was standing outside the gate, Naruto left him a good 10 minutes ago. They were supposed to go to the newly opened ramen bar near the campus. Until, Kushina Uzumaki called her son, demanded that he'll come home at instant. The said woman was temperamental, downright scary and one of the people who had purest heart. She had an eminently long red luscious hair, like the Red Thread Myth would decribe, soft gray eyes and warm personality. She would become a beautiful beast when provoked.

He had nothing better to do and told his parents that he'll be home later after he's done studying. So instead, here he was, standing near the gate, wearing his uniform but unbuttoned the first two ones since he wanted to breathe properly. He didn't have to wait long for he already saw a tired looking pinkette near the gates, looking haggard. A ghost of a smile appeared from his lips, the girl never failed to amuse him.

He waited for her to notice his presence and greeted him with a warm sweet smile and a small wave from her lift hand as her right hand clutched the medical textbook to her chest, "Hello, Sasuke." He gave her a sincere half smile, rarely he did this.

"Hello as well, Sakura." He joined her, walking next to her side. She didn't seem to mind but she quite in fact enjoyed his presence for an unknown reason. She was happy, to be honest. She always wanted a company on her travel to her way home. Before she could ask if he waited for her, if he waited too long and where was the loud-mouthed male blonde, his deep velvety voice cut it off,

"Naruto left no too long ago."she looked up to see his face but found his mesmerising eyes staring into her own peridot ones. She fought back a blush, immediately pretending to look fo her handkerchief in her pockets. Once she found it, she wiped her sweat from her neck. Sasuke looked straight to where they were going. He lead her to where his car was parked. The black and well-kept one-his favorite as well. It was an adorable scenario as the pinkette just followed him, not knowing where to go. Perhaps, she was really tired and hungry, as she didn't pay attention to anything as of the moment. He was hungry as well, so out of courtesy, he asked her after opening the car's door for her.

"Um... No need to." She declined politelym flashing him one of her intoxicating smile again. Sasuke closed his eyes as he sighed, clearly becoming annoyed. He frustratingly opened his eyes, clearly appearing annoyed. He reached his left hand to place on the pinkette's right shoulder, as his other hand held out the door for her.

"I'm hungry and I insist. " The pinkette blushed, noticing his small but evident anger. She quickly went inside his sleek black Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. She remembered that it was this car from the other night. She couldn't help but feel insecure because of her status, a middle class college scholarship-medical student. Sitting on one of the most expensive cars in the world overwhelmed her. She ought to be careful from damaging or even scratching any part of the car. Soon, the raven-haired young man took the driver seat beside her.

"I apologize." she heard him quietly said, almost murmuring. She turned her head to look at him and smiled, her pearly white teeth showing this time and she laughed. Sasuke heard her laugh. It was a sound pleasant t his ears, like sweet music from the almost forgotten beautiful love songs. Maybe he's getting overboard with the describing. He glanced at her, confused. Shrugging the topic off, she replied

"It's okay. I am pissed off too when I'm hungry." She flashed him a smile. He felt relieved seeing he did not hurt her with his expressions. At the moment, he's eally craving for pizza, Italian foods of sorts.

"Let's have dinner." he merely stated. Sakura was not satisfied with the offer, clearly saying,

"No. Ask me again." The pinkette never failed to suprise him, truly. He looked at her for a good three seconds then kept his gaze to the road he's going. 'Ask her again' it repeated in his mind over three times. The girl was clearly testing him. And that moment, he asked again, somewhat sure that she'll be satisfied with his way.

"Sakura, I know we're both tired. Let's have dinner." He almost smirked proudly of himself. As he said that looking at her peridot eyes. She laughed again, her viridian ones shimmering. He fought hard to not continue staring at them, and rather kept his eyes on the road.

"Close, but that won't do, Mr. Uchiha." She grinned and placed her gaze on the road as well. Sasuke almost cussed at what she was doing- or was trying to do. She heard him sighed, so she turned her gaze to look at his admiring features. His dark fine eyebrows furrowed, his pinkish lips set into a straight line and she knew right then and there, that she's having an effect. And it was a bad one.

Before Sasuke noticed her, she turned her head to look at the window beside her, unknown was their destination. They haven't even talked properly reulting for Sasuke to just drive going to someplace uncertain. She wondered how will she do her duties for later tonight. Her homeworks, studying for the quizzes for tomorrow, sleep and most especially her job. Her trail of thoughts was severed when she heard his deep velvety voice again.

"Miss Haruno," He called out and she felt something about the way he said her name sent butterflies in her stomach. She fought the blush that was slowly tinting her cheeks.

"I am famished and I believe you are too. Tonight, I am currently planning to have dinner. I would greatly appreciate if you would join me,"He paused, smirking at her when he noticed the faint blush on her adorable cheeks and the small smile playing on her pale pink lips. She looked at him with her viridian doe eyes, bravely even when her heart was beating rapidly when he caught him smile and continued, "Please?"

She let out a small lady-like laugh, "Of course, gladly." Sasuke let out a small laugh too. They drove off to where Sasuke had in mind. On the way, they conversed too, exchanging small informations, like favorite food, stressful professors and their schedules even.

"So do you have a curfew?" She heard him asked after he said their orders to the waiters. They were in Sasuke's favoured pizza parlour. They both learned that they both like Italian foods better than Japanese ones. Sakura was done observing the venue, it was obviously for wealthy people and they were only few customers. Sakura knew that when a place was not crowded, only few people present, it's exclusively for the elites.

She pondered the question for a moment. To be honest, she had no curfews at all. Her father will always be busy especially night time and her mother-well she's practically almost living in the E.R. They are both not at home until thirty minutes past three in the morning. That did not give her a freedom though, she had many things to do.

"No." She replied befoe taking a sip of the water laid out for her. The raven-haired young man watched her across from him. "But," the mere word caught his divided attention, "I have to study a lot. Professors giving quizzes all at once in a day is not amusing." she chuckled at her said predicament. It was the only excuse she could think of, not that she was lying. Studying was not hard, co sidering she was already reviewing her notes earlier. She will just read them again later, the same routine over and over again. She was not complaining and believed had no right to. She loves her duties.

"You're tired." He stated as he had observed the bags under her eyes giving the obvious stressful look on her face. She was probably the most studious person he met next to his older brother.

"Well, midterms are approaching." She gave a heartily laugh. Indeed, the thought of gruesome midterm was approaching. There will be all nighters, coffee galore, notes and books flying everywhere. He inwardly scowl at that reminder. He despised getting lack of sleep, or irregular schedule of sleep. Sleep was one of the fee things he highly adored.

"Don't remind me." He replied scowling. Sakura lightly laughed at his appearance, his scowl did not threaten her at all, rather he looked like a boy sulking. He heard her music-like laugh again. He did not understand what made him attracted to this girl. Soon, their orders arrived. The good smell of delicious food filled their nose. Sakura stared at the mouth-watering dishes, she never had a dinner so grand. She heard a deep velvety voice chuckled for a brief moment.

"Sakura." He called, the click of his tongue reflected annoyance, "Let's eat."

"R-right."

A flash blurry of white and brown attacked the pinkette as he accompamied her to the door of her house. He looked at her form as she fell down at her back. The said brown and white, blue-eyed husky eagerly licking her face causing her glasses to fall off and her hair in a mess. The pink locks was out of its bun but was tied to a low ponytail, some hairs were out of place. He observed how she looked, her emerald eyes brimming with happiness and her smile showing of its pearly whites. She somehow radiated through the night. He won't admit that she looked very endearing.

"Mimi! Sto-" she tried to shout and push off her dog only to be attacked again. Sighing, Sasuke took the her glasses that was tossed to the other side, few feet away from the pinkette. He glanced at the glasses he was holding, being observant as he was he noticed that it has no grade at all.

Why use it?

That question intrugued his mind, so was she.

So he held out his other hand for hers to take. She reluctantly accepted and slowly stood up while petting her so-called Mimi. The said dog had her eyes focused on the pinkette before turning to smell the raven-haired, who in return, petted her. Mimi slowly licked his rough hand.

"Sorry, she gets overboard." Sakura stated before taking her glasses from Sasuke who was handing it to her. The young man smirked at her before replying,

"It's okay, my dog's like that too." He replied not looking at her eyes, as he watched Mimi trying to catch his attention. Sakura beamed before him, happily asking,

"You have a dog too?"

"Yes. Naruto too." He rplied directly giving her one of his rarest smiles.

"Sorry, I got carried away." A female figure, wearing white backless halter dess bowed. Her enormous wings was black at the bottom then slowly becoming pure white as it ascended higher. It was ombre. One knee on the ground and the other bended, where her arm was placed on. Her wavy pink locks cascading down to the middle of her back, adorned with a gold rose band around her head and she was barefooted.

"Forgiven." Replied an older one, who wore the same dress as the angel before her but her wings were pure white. Her blonde hair set into a low bun, few strands framed her face. Her almond eyes gazed at the pinkette. She cleared her throat as the pinkette stood straight, preparing.

"You would not be in charge of the fountain anymore." The blonde stated before pulling out the pure white scroll from one of her mahogany drawers. Shock and mixed emotion befell upon the pinkette. Her viridian orbs reflected hurt. She loved being the guardian of the fountain, hearing the people's wishes, hopes and prayers. Feeling what they feel, the eagerness and more. She won't see the innocent children or hear their innocent wishes of getting toys. She won't be able to hear the couple's promise of undying love too.

"I...I'm sorry. What?"

The older woman could hear the pain from the angel before her. Somehow, she reminded her of her old self- dedicated to the works of the fountains. She could sympathize with her. She cleared her throat before sighing,

"You have a new different task." Emerald eyes waited for her to continue, "You will be a guardian angel. The child will be assigned to you is unknown yet. The name will soon appear in that scroll." she handed her the pure white scroll. The pinkette's delicate hands took it.

"Your shifts are elaborated there. It is the standard, it will change though, depending on the child's schedule and yours as well."

"How long will I wait then?"

"It always takes a week assigning a child and 14 days at the most. That will leave you vacant. It is a good thing that you can rest too."

She said nothing as she nodded, bowing again before flying back home. If there was another thing she disliked, it was staying idle.
