Chapter 3: New Missions
Kumiko was in a foul mood. That was a major understatement, foul was to simple a word to describe how she was behaving. It was as if a giant ball of negative energy made it's way into Kumiko turning the usually happy and energetic female into an angry and dull raging beast of an 11 year old saiyaness.
Vegeta just couldn't understand what was wrong with his best friend. Her birthday had been only two weeks ago and up till now she was very happy with all of her gifts, so he was very confused on why she suddenly changed.
"Kumiko?" He called out being uncharacteristically quiet.
"What?" She growled out from where her head was buried under her pillow. Vegeta flinched involuntarily, finding himself actually scared of his younger friend.
"I was...well...you-"
"Spit it out already!"
He flinched again. "Are you feeling alright?"
"Wouldn't you like to know." She commented with sarcasm leaking in her voice. "I'm feeling fan, freaking, tastic."
The young prince sat down on her bed next to her just staring at her small form buried under her blankets and pillows. "What's wrong?" He asked softly, just as she had done to him so many times before.
Under her pillow Kumiko turned a deep shade of red. "It's...it's none of your business." She mumbled.
"Kumiko," Vegeta was practically begging now, "Talk to me."
She rose from under the pillow and glared at him. "I. Don't. Want. To. Talk. About. It." She climbed out of bed and went to the nearest corner in her room. She then sunk to the floor burying her face into her knees.
"But Kumiko," He started, "I'm you're best friend." He got up trying to get closer to her but also managing to keep his distance. "Don't you trust me?" 'I trust you...' The last part stayed in the back of his head, where Kumiko couldn't hear.
"I said I DIDN'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT! LEAVE ME ALONE I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOU!" She screamed at him. Vegeta stepped back, actually wounded by her words.
"F-fine..." He said as he walked towards the door. "I didn't really care anyway..." He lied then walked out slamming the door behind him.
"Prince Vegeta?" Vegeta turned his head at the mention of his name seeing Raditz look curiously at him.
"What do you want?" The young prince growled out.
"Kumiko's not the only one in a bad mood..." Raditz mumbled under his breath. "We have another mission."
Vegeta bypassed Raditz's first statement through his confusion. "Another mission? Already?!"
"It should only take a day or two, but he wants us to leave immediately." The older male explained. "We got the space pods ready, we're just waiting for you."
Vegeta looked back at the door to Kumiko's room. "It doesn't seem right," He said to himself.
"Don't worry vegeta, she'll be back to her self in no time." Raditz said thinking the prince was talking about the condition of his sister. When he was actually wondering why Frieza would send them on a mission so soon from the last one.
"Whatever, lets go idiot." The prince said as he walked away leaving Raditz to follow.
Kumiko groaned holding her stomach. She was in pain everywhere, mainly in her stomach and head. Nappa had the unfortunate duty of explaining "womanhood" to her since her parents where dead and raditz was to much or a wimp to try. However he didn't happen to explain the bloating, and the cramping and the multiple aches that she could barely handle.
She hadn't happen to mention the cause of her hostile behavior do to her embarrassment. Even with vegeta, she didn't want her best friend to think she couldn't handle "a little pain" and that was she was only suited to be a low class. So she decided to spend the rest of her time under a pillow buried away from the world. Since her friends and brother were out on a mission she would have no problem with keeping others away, and would probably have enough time to arrange a full apology for Vegeta. She could tell he was hurt by her words, and she didn't like to hurt him.
Kumiko rustled under her blanket as she heard the familiar click of her bed room door opening. She thought the other three saiyan's already left for their mission and they were the only ones who came to see her.
"Typical of a little monkey, not contributing to anything, just takes up space and causes trouble." Kumiko looked up to see none other than Frieza's second in command looking at her with his arms crossed over his chest and an annoyed look in his goldent eyes.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, trying to hid the confusion in her voice.
"Lord Frieza request your presence immediately." Zarbon said simply, not interested in conversation.
Kumiko felt as all the blood drain from her face. What could frieza want from her? And why now of all times? "Uh...okay..."
" That means now," Zarbon walked out of the room as Kumiko glared after him but soon got up to follow.
The walk to Frieza's throne room was quiet and short but in Kumiko's mind it was one of the longest walks she had ever taken. She could only think of several reasons why Frieza would call her in his throne room and none of the moment's she suspected ended with results that would please the icy tyrant.
'Did he finally find out about all my sneaking out?' She thought. 'No that can't be it...' The saiyaness shook her head. 'Maybe he found out about my party and didn't like it...' She raised an eyebrow to herself and looked up at Zarbon who walked in front of her. She watched as his elegant green locks swayed in the braid it was always in. Kumiko gave a sharp intake of breath at realization of her crime.
'So he finally figured it out...' She bit her lip looking on in fear. 'He knows I tried to cut off Zarbon's braid! I'm done for!' Just as she made that realization they finally made it to the throne room of freiza the prince of the planet trade organization.
"Welcome, young saiyaness." Kumiko her Frieza say from the center of the room with a usually icy chill to his voice. Kumiko resisted the urge to look around the room and instead focused her eyes on creature in front of her.
Once she was at a respectable distance from the throne she bowed at the ice-jin. "Hello Lord Frieza," She said politely once she got back up.
"A polite monkey, that is certainly different," Frieza commented smirking slightly.
Kumiko resisted the urge to growl at the smug prick. "With all due respect, Lord Frieza, we saiyans can be polite...unless provoked."
"How cute," He responded. "I assume you have your guesses on why I requested you?"
Kumiko felt all the color drain from her face. She prayed that Frieza couldn't smell fear. The young saiyaness gave a small nod. "Yes sir."
"I am assigning you a mission."

Vegeta came back from his mission, annoyed. It took hours to get there and when they arrived the planet was already purged. That meant he had spent a good day traveling to and leaving a planet stuck with only Nappa and Raditz to keep him company. A total waste of his time.
He perked up a bit though knowing that soon he'd be able to see his best friend again and he made sure to come bearing a gift to make her feel better. He carried the glowing light blue flower in a small pot hoping that Kumiko would instantly forgive him once he gave it to her. She could sometimes hold a grudge, especially if he brought up her ranking.
He held his breath once got to her room then let it out preparing whatever rain of terror she would first throw at him. Just as his gloved finger grazed the fine polish of her room door handle his name was called out.
The young prince turned and growled at the older male who called out to him. Nappa put up his hands and tail in a defensive manner. "Lord Frieza wants to see us all."
Vegeta looked back at the door. "Kumiko too?"
Nappa shrugged. "He didn't say, but we should get going, if he needs her he'll send for her again."
Vegeta nodded hiding his worry from Nappa. It had to be something big if Frieza wanted to see them all in one place. The last time he called a meeting for all of them was to say the planet was destroyed.
"Let's go." The prince said and began walking. He would have time to go to Kumiko later.
Kumiko sighed laying back comfortably in the small space pod. Very few times did she not share one with Vegeta, so she wasn't used to having one by herself. She took a book out of the bag she brought with her. The young sayianess made sure to take a few things with her before she left, including a book her two, one of which was about the planet she was soon to see.
She glimpsed out at the galaxy before her thinking of her friends and family on Frieza's ship. She hated leaving in such a haste but Frieza demanded she go immediately. Though she did leave a note to vegeta, hopefully he would find it in her room before she got back. Kumiko didn't want him worried, but maybe Frieza would also explain.
Her thoughts drifted when finally a planet came into view. It wasn't easy to miss with it's three bright sun and it fit the description to the one she was assigned. She smiled and pushed the handle to open her space pod so she could see it from space before landed there. She turned the handle but the door wouldn't open. Kumiko looked confused as the door, it should have opened by now. She tried again but it still wouldn't budge.
Kumiko began to panic. The young sayianess kicked the door open using all her force. She then climbed a top the space pod open to the cool vacuum of space. She sat on top of it as it orbited the planet looking for a landing destination. She held on tightly to her bag wondering why she had almost been trapped in the space pod, never had she seen one do that before.
She smiled softly glad she could get out before anything worst happened. She looked down at the planet before her very excited at the adventure before her. Kumiko felt her tail twitch in alert, something was wrong. She looked around seeing nothing there before her tail twitched once more. She leaned her head against the space pod hearing a small beeping coming from inside.
"What is-" was all she managed to get out before it exploded knocking her off from the force. The young saiyan was completely unconscious as she went sailing towards the unknown planet.
She could barely breath as she entered the planet's atmosphere, all the young saiyaness could even see was green and blue surrounding her before she collided head first with something hard. She assumed it was the ground. She sucked in a sharp and painful breath, while she tried to regain control of her body, but she was finding that simple task to be incredibly difficult.
She groaned as she felt somethng, or someone lifting her limp body off the ground. She tried to say something but no words came out as rough but gentle hands cradled her body. She was able to lift her head slightly to see her savor's coal black eyes meet her own.
"A...na-" Was all she could manage before everything went black.
"What a nice, plant." Frieza commented dryly.
Vegeta grunted a quiet thank you as Frieza inspected the flower in the young prince's hands.
"So beautiful and delicate." Frieza brushed his fingers against one of the flowers glowing blue petals and watched as it withered to a wrinkled brown color and fell to the ground. "Shame, it was such a rare beauty."
Vegeta tensed up watching as the ice-jin stepped on the petal turning it to a pile of dust beneath his feet. The prince wondered if Frieza was still talking about the flower. "Why did you call us?" He asked, getting straight to the point."
"Ah yes, well while you were on your mission, it seems that the other little saiyan in your quarters escaped." He explained.
"What do you mean escaped?" Raditz questioned through a vicious snarl.
"She stole a space pod and took off, it had been disconnected for months now, her location is untraceable with it." The ice-jin commented.
"That's...it's not, possible." Vegeta whispered in shock.
"Oh it very much is, but the culprit is usually caught very quickly. I have never seen an escape planned so well." Frieza smirked as if he was slightly impressed. "It was almost as if the little monkey had been planning it for weeks."
"But...w-why..." The prince of all Saiyans let his head hang in defeat. "S-she was my friend," he whispered to himself more than anyone else.
Frieza let out a mocking laugh. "Friend? Who could be friends or even love a monster like you?"
Vegeta felt what was left of his fragile heart twist in his chest. A monster. Of course he was. He killed and destroyed as if it was a game to him and she just watched as it happened. He continued to push her away, it was only a matter of time before she stayed gone.
'He's right,' he thought. He wondered how kumiko could ever love someone like him. How could she ever love...
"A...monster."
