Sorry this chapter took so long to make, I was busy graduating so now I have all summer to put into this story. Also, if you don't write reviews I don't know what I need to work on to make my story as good as possible. I really don't mind constructive criticism at all, just don't be a jerk about it and I won't have a problem with it.
4 years after Gohan arrived:
It's a sunny morning in Konoha and we find our favorite 4 year old half-saiyan sleeping like a log in his bed. Gohan and Minato had moved into a new home a year ago after Minato left ANBU to become a Jonin. It wasn't that Minato disliked ANBU, but being able to see Gohan more and teach both him and new shinobis had a greater appeal than assassination and subterfuge. Gohan had begun his training last year and even though he can't use chakra, it was an accidental discovery that he could use pure ki so he could still do things similar to chakra techniques so long as they didn't require nature energy like lightning or fire. Gohan had to develop all new techniques that only he could use but also allowed him to pass Genin exams. He called it "Ki Style" just so he could fit in with the other kids when they shouted out their jutsu and such.
A major benefit to using ki was that he didn't need handsigns to use it as it was his direct life force being used, normally this would kill someone but it didn't seem to do that to Gohan at all. Also, the amount of ki he had was insane, and he was able to regenerate it faster than most could get their chakra back, Minato was so happy with that piece of information. Gohan had already developed very powerful ki techniques in the year he spent training for the academy, such as ki clones, ki enhanced weapons (increases durability and lets him control projectiles in air), ki bomb (basically a ball of ki that looks like a rasengan except white), and his secret weapon that not even Minato knows about. Ki teleport, by placing his ki on the ground, on a person, or on an object, Gohan can teleport instantaneously to that location, he got the inspiration after his dad mastered the flying raijin technique and earned himself the nickname "Yellow Flash." Anyways back to the story.
A head of silver hair poked through the doorway into Gohan's room, it was his best friend Kakashi Hatake. Both of them bonded early in their lives with their dads both being famous ninja and both being seen as prodigies. Neither cared much about those facts but Gohan thought Kakashi was cool and Kakashi thought Gohan was a really nice person so they became friends very quickly. Most adults already assumed that those two would be great shinobi in the future so they were under a lot of pressure not that either of them minded much. Both did things to separate themselves from their dads, Kakashi wore a mask that covered the lower half of his face while Gohan wore a red bandanna on his head in place of the leaf headband he doesn't have yet. Kakashi and Gohan both swore to each to not show of their ninjustsu to each other until they started the academy so they've been practicing their taijutsu together the 2 years they've been friends. Gohan was only marginally better but that was due to his natural speed, strength, and durability since they use the same taijutsu techniques.
"Yo Gohan!" Kakashi had to yell because Gohan wouldn't wake up otherwise. Gohan's head shot up and he let out a girly screech that had Kakashi on the floor laughing so hard he had to hold his sides or risk being sore later. Gohan let out an amused sigh before getting up and walking over to his friend who was still laughing. "Kashi what was that for?" Gohan pouted with his red eyes narrowed at the silver-haired boy below him. Letting his laughter subside Kakashi stood up to full length already in his academy clothing which was his navy blue mask, black shirt, black zip-up jacket, grey shorts, olive green scarf with a black diamond pattern, and blue ninja sandals. He's 2 inches taller than Gohan but way skinnier, Gohan was scary buff for a 4 year old, he shouldn't have abs at that age but he does (saiyan biology).
"Well Go-chan, there's only one way to wake you up that's been proven effective so either learn to sleep lighter or set and alarm powerful enough to wake the dead." Kakashi smirked and Gohan could tell that he was smirking because they've been friends for years, Gohan is one of the only to people to have seen Kakashi without his mask on. "Gee Kakashi thanks I'll be sure to remember to change how I sleep next time." Gohan added sarcastically because Kakashi appreciated sarcastic humor the most. "Also, how many times have I asked you to not refer to me as 'Go-chan' because it's a stupid name." Gohan asked exasperated knowing that Kakashi wouldn't stop no matter how many times he asked. "Nope, I'm going to call you Go-chan as much as I want but if anybody else does it I'll kick their ass." Kakashi added with a cheery voice filled with amusement. Gohan rolled his eyes and decided he should get changed out of his orange and black pajamas. However when he turned around he noticed that Kakashi was still looking at him, "Kakashi get out so I can change you perv." Gohan spoke in a tired but still cheery voice. If he would have turned around he would have noticed kakashi blush a bright red and leave the room in a hurry.
Hearing the door close Gohan sighed in relief and went about changing into his academy clothing. He wore a black shirt but over it he wore an olive green hoodie with short sleeves. Next went his black pants and then his black ninja sandals. Then he put on his red arm and leg warmers and red bandanna. (I tried to picture his clothing looking similar to what a modern day Bardock would've worn). Exiting his bedroom he went downstairs and heard his dad with Kakashi, he greeted them both with his morning smile and a "good morning."
Minato turned around with his ever bright grin and an extra cheery "morning son, I hope you slept good!" Minato was a great dad and everybody seemed to be in a better mood whenever he was around. Gohan needed a few minutes every morning to wake up before he was his own cheerful self. "So Gohan, I can't believe that you start the academy today! Gosh that takes me back, I loved the academy and I'm sure you will too! Some of my best memories come from the academy and you meet such great people there too! In fact-" At that point Gohan tapped into his ever useful 'pretend to listen jutsu' that nobody else can pull off because it takes years of practice to master. Gohan loves his dad but Minato tends to talk way too much when he's excited. "-So be sure to do your best Gohan because I believe in you!" Minato ended his 5 minute long speech and it almost put Kakashi to sleep but Gohan took it all in stride. "No problem dad, I got this!" The trick was to sound confident in whatever nonsense you say because if you don't then Minato picks up that you weren't listening and then acquires the look of a kicked puppy until you apologize.
"Oh shoot look at the time you boys have to go soon! Don't worry about lunch Gohan because Kushina already came by and dropped it off for you!" Ah Kushina, Minato was his dad through and through but Kushina was definitely the only mom he's ever known and he was waiting for the two of them to get married already so they could all live together as a family. "Ok Dad, be sure to tell I said thanks when you see her later." Gohan was back to his cheery self know that hes woken up a bit, chowing down his breakfast and exchanging a "goodbye" and "love you too Dad" him and Kakashi were off on their way to school.
Gohan and Kakashi strolled down the street chatting away with excitement at the chance to become great ninjas at the academy when Sakumo Hatake appeared out of nowhere and started to walk with them, Kakashi had left before saying goodbye so Sakumo planned on being as embarrassing as possible at the academy gates. He was prepared too, he had such a sappy and embarrassing speech ready to go that would for sure have his son blushing crimson in embarrassment. Sakumo and Minato were by far dads of the year, it wasn't even funny how good these guys were with their respective children and everyone knew it, they were so kind with everyone around them but with their kids it was like they were giving their closest friends the cold shoulder in comparison. Nothing was placed above their sons, not even their village or Hokage.
"Hey Kakashi who's that kid over there with that weird outfit?" Kakashi followed Gohan's gaze over to two males obviously father and son. Both wore atrocious green jumpsuits with orange arm and leg warmers but thicker than the ones Gohan wore. But what really sold the resemblance was that they both had black hair and THICK eyebrows. "No, I've never seen him before, not even at that junior ninjutsu tournament they had a while back. You know, the one that I won." Kakashi shot a grin and Gohan knowing that Gohan couldn't enter because he couldn't use nature energy. Gohan grumbled to himself but there was no heat to it, Gohan rarely ever got upset and never with Kakashi. Gohan only ever gets mad when it comes to innocent people or his friends getting hurt, and bullying, he hates bullying with a passion and will deliver swift justice if necessary.
"Yo, what's your name?" Kakashi fell into his trademark easy-going attitude, he used it as a front to keep his emotions in check but only ever acted like himself with Gohan. The boy with the thick eyebrows looked over at the two boys who approached him and his dad, one had hair like silver while the other had snowy white hair that looked like heavenly purity personified. Giving a grin that somehow had a shine to it the likes nobody had ever seen and a thumbs up, the boy responded with "I am Might Guy! The Green Beast of Konoha and taijutsu master!" Then an explosion occurred behind him out of nowhere but didn't do any damage to the area, like genjutsu but not really.
Kakashi's right eye twitched while he tried to comprehend what just happened while Gohan just took it all in stride and stuck his hand out, "Hi there Guy! My name is Gohan Namikaze and I hope we can be friends!" Gohan used his trademark sunshine patented grin and Guy could instantly tell that this was a good person so he took his hand and shook it. "Pleasure to meet you Gohan Namikaze! I too hope that we can be good friends with the power of youth on our side!" Gohan noted that Guy's hands were indeed worn and rugged from what he could tell to be very extensive taijutsu practice, he had a feeling this one would become very strong in the future. Kakashi wasn't impressed though and it showed on his face, "anybody can be good at taijutsu but all the master shinobi are good at ninjutsu, do you even know ninjutsu?" Kakashi added the question at the end when he noticed Guy's confused look. This time it was Guy's father who spoke up after seeing that when the comment was comprehended Guy look pretty upset. "Guy is entering the academy with taijutsu only because he can't use ninjutsu or genjutsu at all" Dai spoke kindly because he knew that some people would look down on Guy for it.
Kakashi let this comment resonate with him for a moment before settling for a hmph and a bored look on his face. Gohan let out a sweatdrop at how Kakashi was acting because he knows that Kakashi is more concerned than anything, they were at war and not knowing ninjutsu or genjutsu in battle is really dangerous.
Guy was pretty upset with Kakashi's indifference though and after some thought decided on something that would connect the two of them for a long time, "Well then Kakashi I choose you to be my eternal rival!" Gohan, Dai, and Kakashi all had a look of surprise on their faces and while Dai was nervous about his son challenging the son of a VERY powerful shinobi, Gohan knew that having a rival like Kakashi would motivate Guy to work harder than not having a rival at all and he most interested to see where the future would take those two. Kakashi just tsked, grabbed Gohan's hand, and started to walk into the academy. Only to be met with the sight of his father inside the classroom sharing stories about kakashi when he was really little. The first day of their shinobi careers start now, to the sound of Kakashi pleading with his dad to stop and Gohan laughing on the floor.
