AN: I'm not happy with how this chapter came out but yeah... here you go. Just a filler for now until I figure out what to do for the next chapter.

The antique, claw-footed bathtub was filled to the brim with bubbles; the lights in the bathroom were turned off and only the flicker of various candles illuminated the room with an intimate auburn glow. The water was scalding, but of course that did not bother the tub's occupants. Godric sat amongst the lavender scented bubbles, Eira nestled in front of him between his legs, the back of her head resting comfortably against his chest. They sat in silence, the scalding water feeling soothing and comforting against their cold skin.

Water had always been a strange comfort for Eira; it gave her a sense of ease being enveloped in the seas cool waves, and thus Godric had urged Eira to get in the bath with him. Despite the fact that they could have easily flown down to the beach in less than five minutes, the bathtub offered a more intimate sense of comfort, with its warmth, and for Eira's pleasure, lavender scented bubbles.

Funny thing was that Eira's love for the sea was shared; Godric had various tattoos littering his skin, but the one that meant the most to him was the one on his arm—his people's sign for water. The Gaul's worshiped the elements, and his family specifically favored water.

He always had wondered if it was fate that had drawn him to that small Nordic village that one chance night, if it had been fate who placed Eira on the shore of the one thing that his family held dear to them—water. Whatever the case may be, if it was fate or pure coincidence, water was a significant part of his life. Just like with his beloved, it had always given him a sense of comfort, the sound of the waves crashing against rocks or the shore, the stillness of the water on calm nights; he respected the water for all its gifts, but most importantly he held it in high revere because he had always believed that it had given him his Eira.

They both needed comfort, and while finding it entwined in each others' arms, the water helped them tie everything together.

Things from years past were quickly knitting together, long forgotten notions were finally making sense, and everyone had noticed that the closer they got to figuring out what to do in regard to Russell Edgington and those damned wolves, the more fidgety and anxious Eira got. She had been deadly serious when she had told her brother and lover that she did not want to have anything to do with Operation Werewolf, but she was involved in the whole mess, and as much as it pained her family seeing the glazed look her eyes would take on whenever they spoke about the progress they were making in their venture, they needed to inform her of what was happening. She needed to be kept up to date in all the happenings, first and foremost because being informed of what was happening would keep her safe.

"Eric has told me that—"

"Hush," Eira whispered, turning slightly in the water to look up at her lover, "right now none of that stuff exists, okay?"

Godric blinked once, a blank expression taking over his face for about two seconds before he blinked again and sighed, his features softening into muted concern.

"Beloved…" he trailed off, the arms he had wrapped around her tightening ever so slightly, "it will end."

"I know," Eira stated quietly, turning her head back to look before her and away from Godric, "I have no doubt that it will end, but right now I don't want to think about that. I can't run away from this, but I can at least postpone it for one night. Eric is out of the nest tonight doing who knows what and that already has me anxious as it were because he just left without letting us know where or what he—"

"Eira," Godric interrupted her ranting, a mischievous smirk nestling against his lips, "hush."

1, 2, 3, 4… the silence was broken by, of all things, Eira giggling.

Godric smiled, leaning forward and gently nipping her ear before he settled back against the tub, his hold on Eira tightening as he drew her closer against his front.

"You're such a dork," said Eira with the remnants of laughter in her voice, wiggling her way out of lover's arms.

She turned her body so that she was sitting on her knees now facing Godric, still between his legs, a rare smile on her lips as she placed her hands on the tops of his knees and leaned forward to place a chaste kiss against his lips.

She loved that she could be like this with him, informal, free, uncaring, genuine—back at their Dallas nest it was all formalities and manners, as things usually were when your mate was the Sheriff of Area 9. But here, in this tub, she need not care about addressing her mate as "Sheriff, sir," and she loved that fact. She had never agreed to her lover accepting the position of Sheriff, but her Godric was one of few "Ancients", as they were called because of their age and power, and it was either be the Sheriff of Texas or it's King.

Godric was fine with being just a Sheriff, it meant less time spent away from Eira, and it also meant that she would not be placed in the spotlight. Her anonymity was something he strived for— the less people knew of her or about her, the better. He was fiercely protective of her, if not jealous of curious eyes gazing upon her. He was still a man, for all intents and purposes, and regardless of the fact that his lover indeed held the physical appearance of a teen, she was beautiful, and thus attracted a second glance from the opposite sex.

Just the thought made a jealous ache flutter within his chest, and so he pushed back against her lips with his own, his hands moving up and his fingers knotting themselves in her damp tresses.

"I love you," whispered Eira as she kissed her way down to the base of Godric's neck, one of her hands moving away from his knee to inch up his thigh.

Godric smirked. He had her outside of the tub in seconds, her back slick against the bathroom floor as he held both of her wrists above her head with one hand, while the other was gripping her hip tightly as he slid himself into her with one swift motion.

"I love you too, my heart."
