Chapter 3: Arriving at camp.
(AN)I changed the colour of the big house to indigo just because I like indigo :D
6th December 2012 Camp Olympus 10:00
Camp Olympus looked peaceful, but if you looked carefully, some of the campers were glowing faint gold or silver, symbolizing their immortality. Faint gold, meant true immortality whereas silver meant immortality unless struck down in true battle.
Chiron, the centaur leader of Camp Olympus, was teaching master archery's class with some of the campers when an eagle flew down onto his shoulder, a message tied onto its leg. A few of the campers looked over curiously, while Chiron untied the eagle's message. The eagle glared at the campers and flew off towards the large indigo house. Chiron read the message, his eyes widening as he did so. He galloped towards the same large house that the eagle flew off to. Inside, he grabbed the horn meant for counsellor meetings and blew into it. Outside, all the Immortal campers and some mortal campers looked up from whatever they were doing and started running towards the Big House, as it was called. When they arrived, they all were wary of whatever was so important.
"Counsellors." said Chiron. "I received a message from Zeus, about a new war." Instantly all the counsellors started shouting and yelling. "Silence!" Chiron shouted, stomping his hoof. "If we start panicking then we will lose the war for sure. I should also tell you that we are expecting help but I don't know when they are arriving." Annabeth raised a question. "Who are they?" "They only said they were the Assassins of the Brotherhood, Defenders of Peace." Chiron answered. "Nothing important was mentioned in the letter? No hints or anything?" asked Annabeth. Chiron shook his head. Annabeth looked disappointed with the lack of information. A girl at the back narrowed her eyes at Annabeth in anger. She looked to be about to attack her, but the sound of engines stopped her from doing anything. Everyone in the room except for the girl looked curious and apprehensive. They all walked outside nervously. Even the girl was nervous, though for a different reason than the campers. She was a camper, but her allegiance was to Perseus. She hoped it was Perseus coming in the ships and not one of the master assassins who didn't like her. When the shuttles landed in the center of the camp everyone felt a shudder go through them. The shuttle doors opened and let out a troop of soldiers in hooded robes. They had swords with eagle shaped hilts. Most of the soldiers had silver robes with a deep blue trim. Another shuttle descended, but it looked like an actual eagle descending. When it landed, its beak opened, with the lower part of its beak touching the ground and allowing everyone to see the darkness of the ship. Six assassins walked out, one in a black robe with their trim being navy, the second in a blue robe with green trim. The assassin leading the first two assassins was wearing a pure white robe that had red trim. The other trio was wearing all white robes with red trim, the same as the leader of the other group. The six assassins were then joined by two others. Both wore black robes with purple trim. The eight assassins walked past the group of campers, into the Big House. This prompted the rest of the assassin army to start setting up a base to prepare for the upcoming war.
Big House 10:30
The eight assassins were waiting in the quest room, sitting in chairs with the eagle that delivered the message on the back of the of leader's chair. The lead assassin nodded at Chiron when he walked in and gave a small, almost unnoticeable smile to the unknown girl. The girl gave a tiny smile back to the assassin and went to her seat. The other counsellors filed in and sat down.
Chiron started it off by asking "Are you the Assassins that Lord Zeus told us about?"
The assassin chuckled and said "No, we are the assassins that I told you about. There are more eagles than Zeus's one."
Chiron realised this assassin was not an assassin that Zeus had trained, but a completely unknown force, a new faction. A faction that, if they so chose, could probably turn the tides of this new war into the favour of whichever side they chose. Or even just declare war on Olympus once they had helped Olympus win.
"Well, in any case, I welcome you to Camp Olympus. This camp, as you probably saw outside, is a camp for demigods to train, survive and live as peaceful a life that they can as a demigod." Chiron told the assassins.
The Assassin leader nodded. "We know. We're not just assassins. Being an Assassin means we need to spy on potential enemies. And Templars…" He seemed to scowl as he said the word "Templars"
"Templars?" asked Katie Gardner, the counsellor for the Demeter cabin. The assassin nodded, with a couple of the other assassins growling in anger.
"Templars are what we fight to stop. We fight for the freedom of the world, while they fight to try to control everyone and everything. They say they only wish to have order in the world, but order does not exist without chaos. They are everywhere, they could be the President, they could be a businessman, they could be anyone. However, we check our assassins and their rooms for anything that is used by the Templars," answered the green and blue robed Assassin.
"Will you be training with us?" asked Annabeth.
"No. We will be watching you train for a day, then train you according to how good you are," answered the black and navy Assassin.
Chiron nodded, then asked, "What will we call you?"
"I am Light," answered the Assassin leader, now identified as Light. "The Assassin wearing black and navy is Shadow. The green and blue Assassin is Revlis"
The three assassins wearing white and red robes stepped forward to identify themselves.
"I am Eagle," Said the leader of the trio.
"I am Hawk, said the Assassin of the leader's left.
"I am Falcon," said the Assassin on the leader's right.
They stepped back to their positions to allow the black and purple robed assassins to introduce themselves.
"I am Nighthawk," said the left Assassin.
"I am Angel," said the right Assassin
"Now that we know what we should call you, may I ask what you're going to help us with?" asked Chiron.
"We are going to help your campers and Hunters train, if we think it necessary, otherwise we will set up defences, which will consist of mounted machine guns, turrets, and anti-air cannons." Replied Shadow "We will also have an armoury which will have hand-held rocket launchers, grenade launchers, medi-guns, pistols, assault rifles and sniper rifles."
"Why would we need mortal weaponry if we're fighting monsters? Wouldn't we need celestial bronze weapons?" asked Phoebe, the lieutenant of the Hunters.
Revlis shook her head. "We have enchanted them to never run out of ammunition and they have a mix of Celestial Bronze, Imperial Gold and regular silver."
"That's not possible!" said Travis Stoll, counsellor of the Hermes cabin.
"It's quite possible, except you haven't found out how to mix them without having them implode." replied Revlis. Leo Valdez's eyes widened at the potential of learning how to make more powerful weapons.
"Would you be able to teach us how to mix them properly?" he asked excitedly. Revlis shook her head again, replying, "No, due to the fact that first off, the Olympians wouldn't trust you enough to let you keep them unless you swore an oath to be a slave to Olympus. And second, we don't trust you enough." Leo's face fell in disappointment.
"Hey, what do you mean you don't trust us!? Why are you helping us if you don't trust us? If we're going to be fighting in battle together, surely you should trust us?!" scowled Annabeth.
Light looked sharply at Annabeth. "Silence girl. You know nothing of trust. Every single one of my assassins have been betrayed in one way or another. Have you ever, EVER been betrayed by someone who was practically family to you? Or your parents? Or the person you love?" he said coldly. Annabeth flinched when he said that. "Oh…It seems you have. I cannot help but wonder…who was it?" Said Light.
"That's none of your business" snapped Annabeth.
Light simply smirked patronisingly at her while she glared back at him.
Eagle slammed his fist on the table. "Enough!" He yelled. "This is getting nowhere. We need to discuss defences for this camp and training for the campers. We will need to train the Hunters in close combat as well, as they rely on their bows. While that is fine for small groups of monsters, if they are surrounded by an army, they will need to resort to close combat. And they cannot rely on their hunting knives." He finished.
Hawk nodded "I think we should set up hidden sentry nests, with about three sentries per nest. They can tell allies from enemies within a half second and if we set up teleporters, we can have our engineers get to them quickly to repair and resupply them. Where should we have the dispensers though?"
"We should have two at each nest, with four at the teleport base. Then spread the rest throughout the camp." Stated Falcon.
"Good" said Shadow. "Excellent ideas from all three of you. We're done here. Set up the defences."
The assassins dispersed to set up defences and relax while they could.
