Miko marched in with her head held high and her arms crossed. The minute she walked into this school the rumor mill was already rolling. She didn't really know if she should be surprised or irritated, either way, she was frowning. Her stomping continued until she reached the front office and promptly stopped just outside the door. The office just oozed condescending, and Miko wanted nothing to do with it. She would have stayed there all day if it wasn't for the annoying looks she garnering by just standing there. So, she took a deep breath and stepped in. The second she did the noses where turned up and the beady eyes looked down.
Now Miko was not a coward, she had stared down many a decepticon and even killed Hardshell for crying out loud! Even so, people judging her was not something she liked to partake in daily. The receptionists continued to stare with the fury of spotlights as Miko gulped and walked further into the finely furnished office.
She walked up to the large mahogany wooden desk and looked up at the woman standing behind it. The woman was gray haired, old, and was obviously full of herself.
"Um, I-i'm Nakadai Mi-Mikoto I'm here to register." Miko stuttered out, wondering if she had mentally switched places with the maid.
The Woman glared down at her for five whole seconds (Miko counted) before she slowly turned away to look through her papers.
Miko let out the breath she had been holding and pulled at her collar, feeling tiny beads of sweat building on her four head. 'Is it that hot in here?' Miko thought as the receptionist turned back to her.
"Here is your schedule, should I have someone come down here to show you where to go?" She said.
That would have been a very considerate question if the lady didn't say it to her like she was stupid.
"No I believe I'm good, I memorized the map at home." Miko lied against her better judgement, and smiled nervously. She really had no idea where she was going at all.
"Have a nice day." Miko practically flew out of the office and down the hall.
After Miko deemed she was far enough from the office that those banshees couldn't see her, she stopped and rested her hands on her knees. Catching her breath she noticed that there were no other students in the hall. She sighed in relief and walked over to the wall, leaned her back against it and slid to the floor in a slump.
She closed her eyes and thought of Bulkhead and what exciting things he would be doing at that moment. 'Does he even notice I'm gone?'
Shaking her head of negative thoughts she looked down at the schedule and unfolded it. She looked at her first period.
"Algebra, great." She groaned. And then she looked at the empty hallway.
"If I can find it." Miko stood up slowly and walked to the middle of the hallway and slowly turned in a circle.
'Great idea genius, you're lost.' Her brain said.
'Shut up brain!' Miko retorted.
Though she wouldn't admit it, this was a problem. She couldn't just skip like she used to, her aunt would have her aft. She definitely couldn't go back in the main office again, she didn't think she could handle it. She could walk around and look though she didn't know if that would accomplish anything or not.
"Hey!" A voice called.
Miko jumped five feet in the air and turned around.
The boy was the size of an elementary schooler, with big hazel puppy dog eyes and unruly blonde hair. He was waving his hand at her erratically with a smile as bright as the sun. Miko felt a pang of sadness, all of a sudden. Raff used to do that too; although he was a shy child, so it didn't happen often. She shook it off and focused on the boy in front of her. The logical question at that moment would have been to ask what an elementary schooler was doing in a high school, however Miko being Miko and her mind defied what would normally be considered logic, she automatically skipped to 'Oh my god! How did something so adorable get into this pink fluffy prison?!'
Miko tried to keep calm but she just couldn't contain herself.
"Oh my god you are so cute!" She squealed as she ran up to hug him landing on her knees due to the large difference in heights. She wrapped her arms around him and squeezed as hard as she could.
The boy by all intents and purposes should have been weirded out, but to his credit he simply smiled and hugged her back. Miko registered his arms around her and let herself enjoy it. No one had hugged her since she got here. When Miko realized that she was hugging a stranger she let go and pulled back.
"I am so sorry! I haven't seen anything so adorable looking since I stepped on the plane in Nevada!" She apologized and bowed the best she could from her position on her knees.
"That's okay I'm used to it! I'm Haninozuka Mitskuni, but you can call me Hunny!" The boy said cheerfully holding his hand out for a handshake. He figured since she either came from America or just came back from visiting, she might appreciate the gesture.
"Okay! Then you can call me Miko chan!" She said with the same smile. Reaching her hand out, she grasped it and shook. They let go and Hunny started the conversation once more.
"So Miko chan, are you lost? You aren't in class yet." Said Hunny
"I'd say the same for you." Said Miko with a grin and an eyebrow raised. Hunny pulled something out of his inside jacket pocket. It appeared to be a roster.
"I am on an errand for my teacher."
"Oh."
"So are you lost?"
"Yep."
Hunny grinned. "What's your first class? I'll show you."
They walked down the many hallways with Hunny leading the way. They talked almost the entire way, resembling two chipmunks that drank coffee. They talked about their like and dislikes, what ages they both were. (Miko was surprised to learn he was her sempai while he looked so young.) Then they both reveled in the joys of sweets. By the time they came to her door Miko was disappointed, she had been having fun talking to Hunny. She looked towards the door to the class room. Call her psychic, but she knew that all the other kids in her classroom might not be as considerate of her awkward readjustment to the formalities of high society.
She turned to Hunny, ready to say thank you, but he interrupted her.
"Do you have a pen and a piece of paper?" He said.
"Yeah."
She pulled it out for him and handed it over. Hunny walked over to the wall, wrote something down quickly, and turned back to her.
"Here you go!" He said.
Miko looked down at the paper in confusion. It read "Music room 3. Leisure time. "
"What's in music room three?" She asked.
"It's the club I'm in! It's really cool, with cakes and tea and everything!" He said excitedly and all in one breathe.
"Sure I'll come!" Miko said happily. Who would pass up free sweets?
"Okay!" Hunny said. He then looked at the clock, his eyes widened.
"Oh no! Well, I have to get back to class. See ya Miko chan!" He said running down the hall.
"Bye." Miko said quietly, going on an emotional sugar low. Miko turned towards the door, took a deep breathe, and opened it. The door made a light squeak, but someone might of well have bung a gong for the effect it had on the room was the same.
The teacher stopped and looked to the door, and the class followed suite. The teacher stared her down.
"Who are you, and why are you late?" She said condescendingly. The class stared at her with the eyes of judgment. Miko had a feeling this would be a rumor later.
"I'm Nakadai Mikoto, the new student. I kinda got lost." Miko said in a mumble. She turned her face towards the wall as to avoid looking at someone.
"Well Miss Nakadai, I will have you know when a student is late they bow and apologize, you can do that can't you?" She said.
The class erupted into giggles that the teacher didn't bother to stop. Miko ignored the indignant outrage that was threatening to explode within her and bowed to get it over with.
"I apologize for being late." She muttered resentfully.
"Now stand in front of the class, state your name and what you like then go sit down."
Time Skip Time Skip Time Skip Time Skip
The rest of Miko's day consisted of pretty much the same thing. Condescending stares, jokes, and laughter were directed towards her, and Miko managed to silently contained her own venomous insults. She would sit down, and while no one would talk to her, that didn't keep them from talking about her like she wasn't there.
When it was leisure time Miko practically ran out of her classroom. She immediately started looking around for music room three, but to little success. Just when she was about to give in and ask for help, it proved she didn't need to. A large mob of girls were all headed in the same direction. Curiosity got the better of her and she followed.
As she walked with the hoard of girls, they gave her really strange looks. Not exactly hostile, but it didn't seem like they knew what to make of her. The looked at her sort of like how scientists would look at a new species of animal. Thankfully they kept to themselves, but she kept to the side.
They finally came to a set of large ornate doors with a sign hanging over it saying "Music Room Three." The girls formed a crowd in front of the doors and started giggling and squealing. Miko gave them odd looks. From what Hunny told her this was a baking club.
'What kind of baking club involves so many girls? You can't tell me the entire female population of this school is obsessed with tea and sweets?' Miko thought.
Just as Miko started to wonder why they were waiting, the doors to the room started to open. From behind all the girls she couldn't see what was there, but they all started to squeal and rush in. Miko didn't know what to do, but she decided to follow the rabid females at a much more hesitant and slow pace. When she finally came to the door way she stood in bafflement. Girls were sitting at tables and crowding whatever boy was sitting there. Then realization hit her with its baseball bat.
'A host club?! Cute adorable Hunny is in a host club?! Are these girls into shota or something?!' She thought in horror.
Before she had much time to contemplate it she heard a voice behind her.
"Excuse me miss, but, do you have a reservation?" It said.
Miko turned around and came face to chest with a tall black haired glasses wearing boy. He was currently staring at his clip board.
"Because if you don't, I will have to ask you to-"He cut off midsentence as he looked up. His onyx eyes widened behind his glasses, and his mouth dropped slightly.
"It's okay Kyo chan, Miko chans with me! Miko chan, over here!" Another much more familiar high pitched voice called out.
Miko looked towards where the sound came from, and found Hunny standing on top of an expensive looking couch surrounded by girls and a ridiculously tall boy. Miko glanced back at the boy in the glasses who still looked to be in shock.
"Yeah, I'm with him. Uh sorry." Miko said with a slightly awkward smile, and started towards Hunny.
When Miko got over to the couch, Hunny jumped off and tackled her around the middle. If Miko was not a strong girl, the force of the smaller boy's tackle would have knocked her off her feet.
"Hey Hunny! You didn't tell me this was a host club. I thought this was a baking club or something with how much you were going on about cake and sweets!" She said with nervous laughter.
"Oh you did?! I'm sorry, I should have told you! Did you get here alright?" Hunny said as best he could from burying his face into her stomach.
"Yeah." Miko said. 'All I had to do was follow the yellow brick road of fan girls.'
Miko looked around at the other girls sitting on the couch. They were all staring at them like they were the cutest thing in the world, and for that Miko was glad. She had enough with the awkward stares for one day.
When Hunny had his fill of hugging he pulled back and looked at both of the occupied couches. The only free seat left was the one he was sitting in before he tackled her. He thought for a moment and came up with an idea.
He grabbed Miko's hand and dragged her over to his seat.
"Sit here okay?" He said.
"But that's your seat. I can stand." Miko moved to walk away from it but Hunny's grip on her hand tightened.
"That's okay. It's fine if you sit here." Hunny pulled her back towards the seat and practically pushed her onto it. She grunted from the landing and squeezed in on herself to avoid touching the other people on the couch. She was about to say something when Hunny practically leapt onto her lap.
"Oof! Hunny?!" She grunted as she recovered from the dive bomb.
"What? You can use my seat, I'll just have to use you as mine!" Hunny said grinning up at her with a childlike but at the same time devious grin.
'Well played kid, well played.' She thought as she shifted under him awkwardly. Though that was soon alleviated when Hunny was plucked off her lap.
Miko looked up to see the really tall boy standing behind her, holding Hunny up by his collar. Though from the pouting expression on Hunny's face, this was a regular occurrence.
"Mitskuni, we do not sit on our guests. Be a gentlemen and let the lady have your seat. Sit in this chair." He said. He then gestured towards a seat he apparently went to get for Hunny while everyone was distracted.
"Awwwww, but Takashi!" cried Hunny looking up with puppy dog eyes.
Miko swore the man was made of stone for he only replied with a firm "No." and plopped Hunny down on his new chair.
As the girls around Miko started squealing about how cute that was, she saw Glasses (As she had mentally dubbed the boy who stopped her at the door) out of the corner of her eye move towards a very handsome blonde boy who was lounging on another expensive looking couch. He appeared to be talking to a rather large gaggle of girls before he was interrupted. From what it looked like the story was very funny, for the girls were still recovering from there inherent laughter.
Glasses waved the boy up and gestured to a back room. Apparently he wanted to talk. The blonde boy nodded and he stood up. After politely excusing himself from the table with an elaborate flourish, causing the girls to erupt into another fit of giggles, he left with the boy towards the door.
Miko would have thought more on it had Hunny, who had finished his little argument with the newly dubbed Takashi, not knocked her off her train of thought.
"So Miko you mentioned earlier today that before you came here, you were in Nevada. What's it like?" Asked Hunny with a tilt of his head.
The rest of the group turned towards her with expectancy.
"Uuuuuhhh….." Miko thought quickly on what to say.
"Did you meet anyone interesting?" Hunny tried again.
"Uh yeah." Mentally thanking Hunny, Miko thought over what she could tell them. She obviously couldn't tell them about the autobots.
'Wait! Maybe I can….' Miko thought. A devious smirk growing on her face.
"Most of the people I met were military soldiers! They were really good at fighting and stuff. One girl I met could be a ninja for how good she was!" She said with a close eyed smile.
"Really?! What was her name? My parents own a very successful dojo, and I've been to America a couple of times! Maybe I've met her before." Hunny said, crossing his legs and resting his head on his hands. The picture of intrest.
"Ari Cecily." Miko said slowly. "But we just call her Arcee."
"Hmmmmm. Never heard of her! I'll just have to look into her later! Who else?"
"Well, there was my best friend Buford Headsworth, he was sort of special ops. The group he was in was called the wreckers. They would take missions no one else wanted. Unfortunately that meant most of them didn't make it." She ended the sentence in a melancholy rumble.
"That's so sad! Did any make it?" Said one of the girls across from her.
"A few of them. Last I checked there was only two. Buford, and his best friend Jackie. Although Jackie's a loner so we don't see him much." Miko said sheepishly.
"Who else did you meet?" Asked a girl sitting next to her.
"Well there's Henry Ratch. He's the CMO, or chief medical officer. He's kinda grumpy and old, but he's fun to mess with." She said.
"Were there any cute boys?" Another girl asked.
"Well I guess. There was Bee." She laughed awkwardly.
"His names Bee?" Someone asked.
"Well he was an orphan before they found him, and from what I was told he didn't have a name before. However his energetic nature inspired them to call him Bumblebee, or Bee for short." She said smiling softly in memory.
"Was there a leader? He would be good looking right?"
"Well not all leaders are good looking, I'll tell you about that later, but Orion Pax is good looking. If you ever heard of the Norse gods he is the exact picture. Though I never thought of him that way, he was so wise and smart, you can't help but think of him as a second father." Miko said, thinking of her last moments in Nevada that were spent with him.
"If he's so handsome he had to have had a wife right? What is she like?"
Miko hesitated, and thought it over. She didn't know if she should tell them about that or not, it wasn't a happy story. She looked into the girls gathered around gazing around at their wide eyed looks. They wanted a story. Miko smiled sadly at them with eyes half lidded. They had never known pain like Optimus's. She closed her eyes and breathed a sigh, she started the story.
"Elita, from what I was told, was as close as you could get to an angel. She was wise, kind, and beautiful. The perfect match for Orion. Though I did here she had a nasty temper. They met when Orion was a librarian. Some boys were picking on him and breaking things. Then Elita came along and lectured them. They ran with their tails between their legs. She wasn't there but for five minutes, but Orion was in love with her that quickly. He dedicated everything he could to become a person worthy of her from then on. When Orion got his position of leadership, I heard he went straight to her got down on one knee and asked her to go out with him."
"They dated, but were never married. They were taking down a terrorist group at the time though, so they wanted to wait until afterwards to get married and have children."
"You say was. What happened to her?"
Miko smiled grimly. The sun shining through the window cast a surreal heavenly light across the room. It made the shadows on Miko's face more pronounced.
"Elita was in a battle, Orion was caught up fighting someone else at the time, and she ended up taking on the leader of the terrorist group. The man was huge and unbeatable, a monster in body and mind. Even his soul was tainted with evil. Elita fought valiantly, but in the end it didn't matter. He ran her through. By the time the fight was over it was too late. No one could save Elita. As they say, she was forever lost to the stars." She ended quietly.
The girls in the group stared at her in silence. Some were crying, some were trying to keep from crying. But they all had this star struck look on their faces.
"That's very sad Miko. Did Orion find anyone else?" The girl to her side asked quietly.
"No. People like Orion can only love someone once." She said.
Suddenly Music Room Three was filled with the sound of mournful girls crying and people clapping silently. Miko, awakened from her spell, looked around the room to see all of it's occupants standing around the couch crying and clapping.
Miko smiled at them in silent happiness. She looked towards Hunny who was still sitting in his chair as he was in the beginning. He smiled at her knowingly. Miko grinned thankfully. Hunny had purposely started the conversation to help her with her friend problems.
"All right ladies the club is closing for the day. It is time to leave." A voice called out, cutting through the crowd like a verbal knife.
Miko turned her head as the crowd dispersed towards the door. Glasses was standing there straight as a ram rod, with the light in the room making his glasses shine brightly. Miko got up from the couch and got ready to thank Hunny, when she was interrupted.
"Miss Nakadai, if you would stay please." Said Glasses. Although it was more of an order disguised as a question.
Miko stopped and turned slowly towards him nervously.
"But Kyo chan! I was gonna pay for her." Said Hunny.
"Unfortunately that is not what I want to discuss." He said. He motioned to the blonde boy he had talked to earlier, and the boy nodded.
The boy moved forward motioning and gesturing towards the door to the other men. Hunny had a few complaints but they were quickly silenced by a look from the blonde boy and Takashi picking him up. They all walked out the main entrance to the room and into the hallway where a few girls could still be seen turning the corner. The blonde boy smiled at them in what seemed a comforting way as he closed the doors with a soft click.
Miko stared at them for a second, before turning towards the glasses wearing boy. He looked at her for a second before motioning her towards a small circular table that had obviously been placed in the middle of the room. A small glass vase with wild flowers was sitting in the middle of the table, and a porcelain teacup with painted flowers sat on the side. Small ribbons of steam came from the top, and from what she could smell it was hot jasmine tea.
The table was one of the objects in the room that was encased in sunlight. The shadows making the scene before her look like something out of a Hallmark gift card. However Miko felt nothing but dread and sadness come to her from the sight of it.
She felt the boy place his hand on the small of her back and lead her forward. Normally she would have punched had they done this with her. However she wasn't feeling normal at the moment. She allowed him to walk her to the table and pull her seat out. She sat down silently and placed her shaking hands on the tea cup. The warmth from the liquid inside warming her previously numbed hands.
The boy sat down in the other chair quietly, and folded his hands on top of the table. He looked at them for a long while as if he was trying to figure out what to say.
Miko tried to smile.
"So what did you want to talk about?" She said, her voice quavering slightly.
She had a feeling she knew her answer.
The boy looked up. From here she could see his eyes clearly. They were a lovely silver gray that made the center look like a night sky filled with stars. That same wonder did not seem to pull through to him however. He, himself, seemed mournful. The look he leveled her with was almost accusing.
"My name is Ootori Kyoya. I am your fiancée." His voice was surprisingly even.
Reality hit her with a sack of bricks.
Miko could feel tears slide down her cheeks and drop from her chin. What started as a trickle quickly turned into a river, as she cried with heart breaking sobs. The rest of her life was sold off to this boy. This stranger. She had no control of her life anymore. A pathetic puppet, with strings made of the love and devotion she felt to her dear deceased parents. She couldn't possibly destroy them.
And what of the autobots? Would she never see them in person again? Would it really just be texts and computer screens from then on? No more hugs from bulkhead? No more shameless plugs to her excited nature from Raff? No more Wise words from Optimus, or lectures from Ratchet? No more.
There was no more. The boy in front of her had her life in the palm of his hand. He would control what she did, wore, spoke from then on. No freedom, no more.
Suddenly, foreign hands came to cover hers. Miko snapped her head up to look at him with tear filled eyes. Kyoya stared at her with eyes filled, not with sorrow, but a grim determination.
"I understand your anger. You have just been sold to a stranger. A stranger who now has control over your life. But I promise that your nightmares will not come to pass."
Miko's eyes widened in surprise. What was he saying?
Kyoya's stance nor his voice wavered.
"I have seen my sister in the hands of her marriage. I have seen her unhappiness, and I have seen her cry like this too many times. I promised myself I would not let that happen to anyone else. Especially if it came at the hands of my father. It would seem I have failed." He paused to gather himself before he spoke again.
"I promise you will have just as much say as me when it comes to how our lives are going to work. Your freedom will not be diminished. So I say we take this time before our scheduled wedding to get to know each other, and become friends at the very least. We will be 'partners in crime' as it were." He said with a sad smirk on his face.
Miko stared at him for a moment in astonishment. There was more to this boy than meets the eye. Miko's frown slowly turned into a grin. She leaned back and raised an eyebrow.
"So you're saying we are going to give them hell?" She asked.
Kyoya's glasses lit up for a moment and his smirk turned into a demented grin. He pushed his glasses up.
"Exactly."
I don't own transformers prime or ouron high school.
