Okay so this is my next chapter where they all get their pokemon. Also in this story Calem and Serena are actually going to travel together. Instead of separately and meeting up randomly during their travels.

Chapter 3:

I woke up the next day with a start when my mothers new fletchling tackled me. I glared at it and it tweeted to me before flying out of my room and downstairs. I stood from my bed and quickly made it up before walking downstairs for breakfast. As soon as I set foot downstairs my mother walked over to me and gave me hug while saying,

"Good morning, Serena. You look like you slept well."

She led me over to the table and sat me down before bringing two plates of pancakes and setting one down in front of me. She sat down across from and me and started cutting up her pancakes before asking,

"Are you all rested up from the move?"

I nodded my head yes and continued to spread the butter over the pancakes. My mother watched me for a minute before asking,

"Do you want me to cut those for you?"

I shook my head no and started to cut my pancakes and eat them one piece at a time. My mother sighed before eating her own breakfast. We ate in silence and I stared at the empty chair that sat between my mother and I. I finished my breakfast and stood up from my seat before bring my plate to the sink to wash it off. My mother followed closely behind me and before I could head over to the couch and watch some tv she pushed me towards the stairs.

"Serena, you like you just rolled out of bed, go get changed."

I looked towards her and asked, "I can't relax and watch some tv first?"

"No, go change and then introduce yourself to the neighbor kids."

I let out a sigh before heading upstairs and back into my room. I went to my closet and pulled out my favorite high waisted red skirt and black shirt. I put on the combination before pulling on my OTK black socks. I brushed out my long blond hair and put it in a loose ponytail in the back and placed my felt red hat on top of my head. I slipped on my black high tops and grabbed my white sunglasses before walking back out of my room and downstairs. I took sight of my mom and she smiled at me before I slipped out the into the warm sunshine. I was instantly met with Calem and a new girl I have never met before.

"Hey, neighbor. I thought I should introduce you to-" Calem started

"Hi, I'm Shauna, Great to meet you!" The new girl said, "Shauna…" Calem finished

I just stared at the both of them without saying anything causing an awkward silence. Shauna ended it by yelling,

"Guess what we came to get you!"

I looked over at Calem with an unsaid question in my face and he quickly answered it with, "The esteemed Professor Sycamore lives here in the Kalos region, and I was told that he has a request for five kids, including us!"

"Who is Professor Sycamore?" I ask quietly

"You don't know who Professor Sycamore is?" Shauna asked "He's only the most uber duber most awesomest and amazingest pokemon researcher ever!"

"So he researches pokemon...like Professor Oak…" I say

"Who's Professor Oak?"

"...Only the most uber duber most awesomest and amazingest pokemon researcher ever…" I mock under my breath causing Calem to laugh. Shauna looked around confused and turned to Calem,

"Hey, what did she say I didn't hear her."

"Nothing Shauna don't worry about it."

Shauna pouted for a minute before perking right back up. I would have to admit I liked a whole lot better when she was upset and not speaking. After another moment of silence Shauna spoke up again,

"We'll wait for you in the next town over, and guess what?!"

Five seconds passed as she waited for me to say what, when I didn't she continued on in her same cheerful manner.

"We're gonna get pokemon! Okay come on Calem, let's go!"

As Calem tried saying bye Shauna pulled him towards the front gate and they ran out and around towards the gate that led out of Vaniville Town and towards Aquacorde. I let out a sigh before I started walking out of my front yard. I passed my mothers sleeping Rhyhorn and turned left at the gate. I made another left and headed out of Vaniville Town and onto Route 1. I walked the short route with many thoughts on my mind, but tried my best to not let them affect me too much. Thoughts of my father surfaced and I could feel the tears start to brim my eyes. I couldn't think about him right now so I stopped walking and closed my eyes and took deep breaths to clear my mind. When I felt I was okay, I continued on my journey towards the next town over. I made it there in 5 minutes and walked through the archway leading into the next town. I walked along the pathway for another minute before I heard Shauna shout,

"Hey, Serena! Over Here!"

I looked towards the right and saw Calem and Shauna sitting at a table with two other teenagers I didn't know. Not wanting to meet the new ones, I staggered in my step as I walked over to the table. Calem patted the seat next to him and I quickly took it and placed my hands in my lap and stared down at them. Calem bumped me in the arm causing me to look up at his smile and he said,

"Here let me introduce you. Everyone this is Serena." I looked up at the two boys

"Wow...Shauna's description was spot on." The brunette boy said

"So, Serena this is Tierno, he's got some serious dance moves and this is Trevor. He never misses a question on a test, but he's a little shy, like you."

I looked from Tierno to Trevor and instantly knew I was going to get along with him. If he's shy as well that means he won't talk as much, which means I won't have to entertain him by answering questions about my past. I smiled slightly at Trevor and he hid more behind his book he brought along.

"Well, it's nice to meet you Serena. You know this might be a crazy idea, but I feel we would all be closer if we had nicknames. Can I call you Lady S Serena?"

"What?! No way! She is totally a Lil' S for sure!" I brought my eyes back down to my hands and closed my eyes trying to get out of this small argument.

"What do you think Trevor?" Shauna asked.

"W-what? You want me to nickname someone I just met? Shauna, you shouldn't put people on the spot like this." Shauna continued to stare at him and I got irritated at her for putting Trevor on the spot like that. He finally let out a breath and answered the question.

"Well...how about something low-key? Maybe...something like Big S?

I could feel Calem turn back towards me and I opened my eyes and looked back up at him. He smiled once again and said,

"Why don't you decide what we should call you?"

I thought about it and my old nickname came to mind. I didn't know if I wanted to have these new people who were suppose to become my friends use it...or if I should keep it as a memory from my old friends in the Kanto region. I decided that it would be okay to use it since I couldn't think of anything else and replied,

"Well...my old friends use to call me Seri…"

"So you want us to call you Seri?" Calem asked

I nodded my head yes and Shauna yelled

"Okay! Seri fits you perfectly!" Shauna turned towards Tierno and asked, "Hey! Can we see the pokemon now? I want to meet my new partner soon!"

Tierno nodded his head and replied, "I know how you feel. It was such a cool feeling when Trevs and I met our new pokemon."

Tierno bent down and picked up a chest and placed it on the table before opening it up. I stared at the three pokeballs that sat inside and anxiety started to fill me at the thought of which one I would end up with.

"Hey why don't you pick first Serena?" Calem suggested

"Yeah! You totally deserve it!" Shauna agreed

I nodded my head and stood up and walked around Calem. I grabbed the three pokeballs out and looked at Calem for his approval at letting the pokemon out. He nodded his head and I threw the pokeballs in the air and watched as they hit the ground and opened letting out each pokemon. In front of me there sat the basic types of pokemon a water, fire, and grass. I turned towards Calem and asked,

"What are their names?"

"The water one is Froakie, the fire one is Fennekin, and the grass one is Chespin."

I nodded my head and analyzed each pokemon. Chespin continually ran around in circles and yelped excitedly. I immediately ruled that one out and analyzed the Fennekin and Froakie. The Froakie stared blankly ahead and Fennekin kept hiding behind it's tail. I bent down in front of them and Fennekin peaked it's eyes above towards me and moved it's tail slightly to the side and took one step forward before hesitating slightly. Froakie continued to stare blankly at me, and I outstretched my hand to try and get more of reaction out of each of them. Froakie did nothing as Fennekin perked her ears up and took another hesitant step forward. She slowly walked up to my hand and sniffed it before bringing her head into my palm. I pet her over the head and ears for a few minutes before trying to pick her up. The Fennekin backed up slightly when I started to bring my arms around her, and I bent back down and whispered,

"It's okay...I understand how you feel...knew people are hard to trust sometimes, but I promise you can trust me and that I won't hurt you."

Fennekin perked her ears up once more before letting me pick her up in my arms. I cradled her while I stood up and then let her jump on my shoulder and sit down. I turned towards Calem and slightly smiled and he smiled back. Calem let Shauna pick next and she picked the Chespin leaving Calem with Froakie. We all went back to the table and Tierno asked if we wanted to nickname our new pokemon. We all shook our heads no, and Trevor said,

"Well...I have something from the professor as well." He dug in his backpack and brought out three electronical devices. He placed them on the table and said, "These will help you understand pokemon on a much deeper level."

I thought about what it could be and when I thought I finally decided I asked,

"Is it a pokedex?"

Trevor nodded and we each grabbed one. Trevor taught us how to use it real quickly and we registered each other's first pokemon in it.

"The reason the professor gave us each one is because he wants us to go on a journey with our pokemon, and complete the pokedex."

I couldn't believe it, after all the years I wanted to go on a journey around the Kanto region, I get to go on one around the Kalos region. The thought excited me and depressed me. I wanted to go with my friends when they started, but I was too young. Now I get to go with friends I just met and I didn't exactly know how to feel about it.

"Here Serena, this is a letter from Professor Sycamore, you should give it to your mother."

I nodded my head and Tierno said goodbye as he and Trevor got up and left from the table. I stood up from my seat and was followed by Calem and Shauna. I started to walk away and before I could get to far Shauna ran up behind me and yelled,

"Seri, wait!"

I turned towards her and she smiled wide as she continued,

"You're going to be my opponent in my pokemon-battling debut! Okay Li'l Chespin! It's our first battle! Let's win it with style!"

Shauna turned in one spot and threw out her pokeball and almost tripped. Her pokeball hit the ground and it bounced back up leaving Chespin in it's place. Fennekin leaped off my shoulder and got into an attack position.

"Chespin use tackle!" Shauna yelled

"Fennekin dodge and use ember."

As Chespin ran towards Fennekin, she jumped out of the way and shot a small ember out of it's mouth and towards the back of Chespin. It hit and Chespin cried out before turning around Fennekin while breathing heavily. Shauna commanded Chespin to use tackle again and this time Fennekin didn't have time to dodge. Chespin hit her straight in the torso and pushed Fennekin back. When Fennekin lifted her head back up she was breathing heavily as well. I really got into the battle and before I knew I said more loudly,

"Fennekin only one more hit. Use ember!"

Fennekin let the flame out of her mouth and it hit Chespin causing him to faint.

"Hey! I wasn't done watching my Li'l Chespin!" Shauna yelled before walking up to me and handing me 500 pokemoney. "You're amazing Seri. Here, let me fix up your Fennekin."

Shauna pulled out a potion and sprayed it on Fennekins wounds and after a few moments they healed right up. Fennekin yipped happily before jumping back onto my shoulder. Shauna ran back to the table and Calem came running over to me.

"Hey, let's walk back to Vaniville together. I have to pass the letter onto my mother as well."
