Chapter 0 – Welcome to Despair Peak – Part 2
"Why I now hate bears with a passion"
Location – Gym
Junko stood at the entrance of the gym while filled with hesitation. She didn't know why, but that voice from the announcement filled with fear as if it was completely unnatural. However, as she was standing there, a hand was placed on her shoulder which pulled her out of her thoughts.
Junko turned to see Mondo standing there. "I know you're afraid… but damn it. We need to figure out what is going. Right?" Junko nodded slowly as she tried to remind herself of the situation. This was currently their only way to figure out what is going on in this place.
As the two entered, everyone else seemed to gather around. Some like Aoi, Kyoko and Mukuro were afraid while some like Chihiro, Byakuya, and Sayaka looked annoyed. However, before anyone could respond, the lights went out. Suddenly, a spotlight hit a podium on the stage.
It seemed like a joke, but… after some moments of silence, a black and white bear popped up and landed on the podium. It had a strange red eye while it had a wicked grin. But it was as soon it stood and spoke that caused everyone to stop.
"He-ya you bastards! Welcome to Despair Peak Academy! I… am Monokuma! You're BEARy amazing and wonderful Headmaster! Now… say Good Morning!"
Mondo bowed, (Which caused everyone to be shocked at him for actually answering the bear), and said, "Good morning" before he stood back up and glared at the bear. "Now… what the hell is this!?" As if clockwork, the others began to voice their concerns and anger before one person yelled out. "I got it!" Everyone turned to see Leon Kuwata rub the back of his head. "This whole thing has to be some big prank, right? A way to scare us students, right?"
However, this seemed to piss off the bear. "A PRANK!? This is real nerd-boy! I am Monokuma, you're Headmaster for your term here at Despair Peak Academy! Oh, which by the way… is FOREVER!" And instantly, everyone once again spoke up and yelled their worries. All except one person. "FUCK THIS!"
Everyone turned to see Chihiro extremely angry. "I'm not gonna listen to some Disney reject!" Monokuma just laughed as he walked up to Chihiro and countered. "At least I'm not some pint-size biker poser." That seemed to get Chihiro as his face became red with anger and he shouted out, "THAT'S IT YOU FUCKING YOGI BEAR REJECT!" Chihiro then rushed forward and grabbed Monokuma by his face and lift him up. "WHAT NOW YOU BASTARD!?"
Monokuma seemed to struggle as he yelled out. "Violence against the headmaster is against the rules!" And then suddenly, he stopped moving. Chihiro laughed as he glared at the bear. "Not so tough now huh!?" But Monokuma never responded. He just seemed to beep. As the beeps started to get slightly faster, Makoto's eyes widen as he turned to Hifumi. "Yamada! Throw it!" Hifumi turned to Makoto before he heard the beeping and rushed forward. In a speed that no one could really follow, (to the shock of most), he grabbed Monokuma from Chihiro and tossed him in the air.
Before Chihiro or anyone could react, Monokuma's beeping stopped in mid-air and he exploded. Everyone recoiled as Chihiro looked in shock. "Holy shit… I was almost fucking blown up! What the hell!?" However, Aoi spoke up. "Umm… are we okay now that the bear is gone?" "As I said, I am Monokuma!"
Suddenly, another Monokuma popped up right behind Aoi and scared her as she screamed and jumped in Sakura's arms. "Hahaha! Wow, a real-life Scooby-Doo moment! But anyways… it seems like none of you like it here… I'm so BEARy sad… I guess I have to tell you how to leave…" Monokuma gained a depressing cloud around him while mushrooms seemed to pop up on his head. However, his words seemed to fill the students with a combination of hope… and fear.
Touko decided to speak up. "I wouldn't trust him… I'm gaining a premonition. Once filled with death and despair…" As soon as Touko finished, Monokuma spurred back to life with an evil aura. "That's right toots! You see, to Graduate from Despair Peak Academy, you must disrupt the academy life. But how you ask? Well… hmm…" However, Junko was almost certain that the world froze as soon his next words exited his mouth.
"I guess you'll have to murder one your classmates!"
Everyone stopped. It was dead quiet minus the horrifying laugh that came Monokuma. As Monokuma was laughing, Junko looked around. Some people like Byakuya and Sayaka were now showing fear, Mukuro and Aoi where tearing up, Chihiro and Mondo were clenching their fists in anger and fear, hell even the calm mannered Yasuhiro was glaring at Monokuma. Monokuma then jumped back onto the stage and then back on the podium as he turned to the students with his red eye glowing brightly.
"Stabbing, Slicing. Bashing, Mashing. Hanging, Burning. It's all welcomed! All you got to do is merc one of your classmates and get away with it & you can leave scot-free! You can use knifes, fire, rope, tools, poison, guns, your fists… hell, even if it's creative with using your pants to strangle someone, go right ahead! After all, I just want your despair!"
Monokuma laughed as he looked at all the faces in the crowd. At this point, everyone felt it. The fear, the horror… the despair. "And before you go on a spiel on how you'll 'Never kill' and how 'No one is that cruel'. Just know this… it only takes one person to start the killing. Who's the weakest link?" And Monokuma's speech worked. People were looking at each other with doubt. Who could they trust? They only met some time ago. Everyone was a mystery, and this created the first cracks in the group.
With one final laugh, the black and white bear shouted to the students before he disappeared.
"Let the Despair Peak Academy Killing Game of Class 78 begin!"

Hey guys, Paeon Kanetsu here! And here is the official end to the prologue! I'm currently working on the first case/trial as we speak, and I hope that everyone will enjoy this story as much as I do!
Now for my little contest-like question: Who do you think is going to be the first murderer and first victim?
We have 16 possible characters. What it's gonna be is going to be a surprise. Am I following the original format? Or have I changed it around?
